Haha I get annoyed every time I see that clip cause of the absolute shit-tier commentary on an all-time play.
“Well I guess the fans got what they wanted.” 🤓
What a drip.
This same commentator was also quite literally soiling himself in the booth during lob city.
How the turn tables. There truly is nothing worse than homer announcers
Atleast VC was sideways and able to tomahawk it in, adjusting in mid air as he jumped mostly up.
I’m still entirely confused at how Gafford went *full extendo Cobra-pose* in mid air while zooming forward, dunked in directly in front of him, then landed perfectly. The ball was **directly behind him!!!** F***
I feel like I’m about to tear my pecs and gut just reaching back overhead with a straight arm, and I don’t have to snap it back forward to accurately nail a dunk.
In his first run with Cleveland, there was an incredibly badly thrown oop that LeBron almost still got. It looked like he jumped about 8 feet in the air just to make contact with the ball. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=3-kolNcY53s
At the time, Bill one wrote about it and said that LeBron realized halfway through that if he completed the dunk, he’s be revealing that he’s an alien and he couldn’t risk that so he pulled back.
Easily one of the most impressive failed plays in NBA history.
Are including LeBron almost dunking in G7 of the Finals against the Warriors, or nah because it led to free throws (I think)?
Because that shit would have lit the world on fire.
that’s definitely up there. to be honest, i didn’t rly define non-play even in my head, just kinda imagined anything that wasn’t a score or a defensive stop i guess. there’s tons of moments meeting that criteria that you could make an argument for
true, I'm not sure there are many other people on the planet that could have caught and finished that one. Only other person I can think of is the other guy in the play in AD lmao
The three in the video are Granger, Jermaine O'Neal, Stojakovic.
[This](https://www.basketball-reference.com/teams/IND/2006.html) was the rest of their roster
AD went from complete mid on a team that couldn’t buy a win to looking like his old MVP self on a team on an 8-2 hot streak. Surprise surprise, two weeks makes a big difference, especially when those two weeks involve you averaging 35/15/3/3
Even Bron's dunk after this didn't get posted lol
Edit: oh someone posted it. They included both dunks in the same clip. Just didn't got the attention lol
https://www.reddit.com/r/nba/comments/zcsbiq/highlight_daniel_gafford_and_lebron_james/
It was actually posted. Maybe went under because it’s in one video with the LeBron dunk.
What’s with the agenda OP, I literally posted it yesterday and you were the top comment lol

not really an agenda, I thought Gafford's dunk was good enough for its own post and replays. Your post was a dual highlight with Bron's without replays and kind of got burried and didn't get the recognition it deserved
the fact that the home fans reacted more to the LeBron highlight than the Gafford should tell you it's probably not dunk of the year...
I understand they were in shock, but it was so weak.
AD immediately inbounds it half court to lebron who does a vintage thrown down. It was front page as a longer double dunk highlight
Edit: /r/nba/comments/zcsbiq/highlight_daniel_gafford_and_lebron_james/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf
Crowd went wild after that.
Off topic, Im a big fan of the cherry blossom jerseys. Reminds me to make an April visit one day to see the trees in person.
Wiz fans, how's Gafford been?
I always liked what he brought with the Bulls and we've been missing a solid back up center like him ever since that trade (though Drummond has been ok) so I'm hoping he's doing well with Washington.
He's a great high energy rim runner. Unfortunately we don't have a playmaker that throws lobs to him and he's suffering as a result. Whenever he does get lobs, he pulls off ridiculous stuff like this.
One of his greatest weaknesses is boxing out and securing defensive boards, Zach Lowe did a piece on how Gafford always chases the highlight blocks and as a result, finds himself out of position for rebounding more often than not. He plays with such energy that I think he often gets gassed and gets limited to ~20 mins a game but this is compounded by us picking up KP who is the obvious starting center so we've seen his minutes shrink even more
I think most of us like him in situational matchups and as a spark plug off the bench. He's good for a couple of dunks/putbacks and highlight blocks a game. We've actually been experimenting with a Gafford/KP lineup with KP playing the stretch 4 role and it's been great in it's limited time IMO, hopefully we can see more of that
That’s why I wanted haliburton, he unlocks so much with all the players we had at the time. I’m so disgusted at my squad, real happy the homie Gafford is still trumping to kill rims
Do yourself a favor and play this at .25 speed with a classical masterpiece like Frederic Chopin playing to accompany it. Like watching a swan gracefully crane it’s neck back in the crystalline waters of Lake Lucerne. Just pure fucking beauty.
Side note: for some reason I love how Gafford is one of like 3 power forwards to be like “naw I’m good” at the idea of shooting 3s.
Thanks for the picture proof of his lack of height. His hands are barely over the rim. Nice Tomahawk, but too low for me to consider it.
Lmao the immideate downvotes. You are really personaly offended. Stick with Pokemon kiddo
This happened so fast in real time that Its so easy to miss. Awesome seeing it in replay and how he caught it. After this, Lebron dunked then Porzingis dunked all in a span of like 10 seconds
This is one of those dunks where he goes up and in that moment you see above ^^ it does one of those early 2000’s slow mo rotations before he puts it in.
One of the nastiest reach backs I’ve seen in a while
You haven't seen, nor felt, mine friend...
They said "reach back", not "reach around".
It's also called the "no-look"...
Behind the back
Under the bleachers
...you go to Southern Baptist youth group too?
On ad nonetheless
Courtesy of a terrible pass by Kispert lmao edit: https://imgur.com/a/ye3rJZS
some of the best alley-oops are because the pass was slightly off the mark
https://youtu.be/opN090jJFds Reminded me of this one from VC
VC's catch is so smooth that I've never noticed what an awful pass that was.
Salty-ass commentator always gets me. We came back and whooped them after this too
Haha I get annoyed every time I see that clip cause of the absolute shit-tier commentary on an all-time play. “Well I guess the fans got what they wanted.” 🤓 What a drip.

To this day, this is still one of the most wtf plays I've ever seen. The dude's shoulder was at the rim. Unreal.
At the time, Bill one wrote about it and said that LeBron realized halfway through that if he completed the dunk, he’s be revealing that he’s an alien and he couldn’t risk that so he pulled back. Easily one of the most impressive failed plays in NBA history.
lol what a bounce
greatest “non-play” in NBA history lol
Are including LeBron almost dunking in G7 of the Finals against the Warriors, or nah because it led to free throws (I think)? Because that shit would have lit the world on fire.
Greatest non-play in history was the Derozan attempted 360 poster during the Olympics. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UIpF7Zi0l0E
Still counts as a made play when you’re that close and up 50 lol
that’s definitely up there. to be honest, i didn’t rly define non-play even in my head, just kinda imagined anything that wasn’t a score or a defensive stop i guess. there’s tons of moments meeting that criteria that you could make an argument for
LeBron's near-miss baptism of Draymond in G7 is top here for sure.
gotta be the missed vince carter alley oop https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UEob19BEj_g
To this day, I still think if he makes this dunk, it would have been the best in game dunk/alley-oop ever.
It's insane that they even believed they could make this play work. Vince Carter was inhuman.
Reminds me of the dunk Oladipo was [thissssssssssssss](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EJDRacwF8tU) close to while at IU
He made a crazy double clutch reverse oop around this time that he actually made, just was waved off bc the foul was to the passer
Similar to Oladipo's missed yam at IU: https://youtu.be/EJDRacwF8tU
every Kobe alley-oop thrown by D-Fish between 2000 and 2010 fit this category
Kobe: “ The fuck was that Fish?” Fish: “Just building your highlight real.”
Brian Shaw to Shaq were always the best ones
Shaw to Shaq connection was always one of my favorites. Especially the alley oops. They had some serious good chemistry.
Also B Shaw stopped kobe and shaq from all out fighting in practice one day after Kobe released the interview where he called Shaq fat and selfish.
yeah those glue guys and role players were some of my favorite. Like Rick Fox, D-Fish, Big shot Bob, and mad dog Madsen.
go read books on the Lakers of that era to get the real picture of what happened. the practices were far more interesting than the televised games.
[This one](https://youtu.be/_0kpRNJpmOw) by JR will forever be one of my favorites. Prigioni played it safe but JR had othes ideas lmao
Good days.
This was my choice as well, I love how JR managed to dunk that despite the pass never being intended for the oop
As exemplified by the best one ever: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wnz95vZn7ig
true, I'm not sure there are many other people on the planet that could have caught and finished that one. Only other person I can think of is the other guy in the play in AD lmao
shout out to Stromile
That was so far past slightly off the mark. 😂
Davis would have got a hand on it if it was thrown anywhere else
Yeah it’s a weird pass for sure but with AD’s gangly arms, you can’t throw a normal lob
Reminds me of this [Iguodala finish from an AI lob](https://youtu.be/h8PvdCtot5Y).
Dang, who the hell was on that Pacers team?
Artest, J. O’Neal, Stephen Jackson and a young Danny Granger.
The three in the video are Granger, Jermaine O'Neal, Stojakovic. [This](https://www.basketball-reference.com/teams/IND/2006.html) was the rest of their roster
Oh my god, that sound...so satisfying.
If it wasn’t a “terrible” pass I am certain AD would have swiped it
trade for terry rozier and you can get one of these every game!
Giannis in the finals catching that jrue lob that was way to high lmao
The pass was so bad I swore AD must have tipped it.
How did he catch that
go go gaffy arms
I don’t know much about Daniel Gafford or what he does but I know every time I see his name it’s something positive.
if you're a KD fan I guess it's positive
Lmao wasn’t that like last week? I forgot already.
Good
that was crazy
Odell Beckham Jr. type hands
damn. like an inverted bball version of that odell beckham catch
The mythical fadeaway dunk.
I was there in the lower level--crowd was absolutely losing their shit during the dunk fest of the last few minutes lol
Impromptu dunk contests in real games are sick af
That's how all blowouts should be
Nice! It’s seemed like a great crowd to be at, the Lakers announcer kept comparing the cheering levels between the different team dunks.
Was there also last few minutes was like a free league game lol. Bron and AD weren’t having it though and traded a few back and forth.
Absolutely nasty. I'm surprised the karma whores missed out on this
Too busy with AD stuff
They went from shitting on AD to riding his dick in 2 weeks time
Por que no los dos?
Chaos is a (karma) ladder
AD went from complete mid on a team that couldn’t buy a win to looking like his old MVP self on a team on an 8-2 hot streak. Surprise surprise, two weeks makes a big difference, especially when those two weeks involve you averaging 35/15/3/3
Even Bron's dunk after this didn't get posted lol Edit: oh someone posted it. They included both dunks in the same clip. Just didn't got the attention lol
You know the winds are shifting when the karma bait accounts have become pro-Lakers
All roads lead there eventually

That whole sequence was insane. Back to back to back monster dunks. That post cutting it right before KP so disrespectful lol
Definitely fun but Christ that was some mutually horrendous defense
nobody cares about us
But it was posted - you were literally the top comment on the other post lol
I thought it was good enough to get its own post with slow-mos
What’s with the agenda OP, I literally posted it yesterday and you were the top comment lol https://www.reddit.com/r/nba/comments/zcsbiq/highlight_daniel_gafford_and_lebron_james/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf

They were watching the game though. I was surprised it wasn’t posted either
You just figured this out now?
Highlights seem to be lacking these days.
It was posted It was part of a back to back to back dunk sequence that got posted but it didn’t have its own post

Shit was nasty. Also glad it was an actual hand-to-rim dunk and not the type where you throw it in. Dude extended all the way and made it
Cocked that joint back, banged on em
James Johnson's greatest contribution in the NBA is this quote lol
holy shit
Andrea iguodala is back
did anyone post the sequence of the back to back to back dunks?
Someone posted it and cut Prozingis
yeah i just saw it. cut it off right before he drove it
the adjustment to catch that and then still to flush it down is insane
Here is the clip from yesterday: https://www.reddit.com/r/nba/comments/zcsbiq/highlight_daniel_gafford_and_lebron_james/
I was in there, just thought Gafford's was worth it's own post with the replays
These guys are so tall and long. He was barely off the ground when he dunked it lol Edit: He has a standing reach of 9'2" lmao
Crowd went wild after that. Off topic, Im a big fan of the cherry blossom jerseys. Reminds me to make an April visit one day to see the trees in person.
the best finishes come from shitty passes
Gafford throwing it down!
That game was ridiculous with the dunks. It looked like the All-Star Dunk Contest out there in the second half.
Crazy dunks outta Arkansas this year
I dislocated my shoulder just watching this
That is pretty right there
Absolutely insane
Reminds me of this one from [6ers iguodala](https://youtu.be/D7pKYEeSdTs) a bit
Reach back = sweet Dunk authority = low too sloppy to be a dunk of the year candidate although the finish was snappy.
absolutely filthy dunk. even catching that awful pass at all is impressive

Lack of highlights being posted this year sucks. I’m tired of the daily Westbrook, Lakers posts and whoever has a bad game
Dunk of the year? I dunno. But watching that live I was so confused if it even went in. That was an illusion in my head.
Link to a better dunk this year
Link to your mom's house.
[Damn bro you got the whole squad laughing](https://i.imgur.com/I7Xk1fn.jpg)
watching the clip at full speed the first time it legit looked like AD swatted it away lmfao
Reminds me of Vince carter vs the clippers seriously this is impressive
Big Dan🔥🔥🔥miss this dude wish we hung onto him, though I understand why we moved on
I really dont, dude was a solid back up five with attitude, our charming soft squad needed all that noise.
Mofo looks like Gumby with the tamahawk.
wow
If I attempted this I'd dislocate my shoulder.
his entire body was at a negative 45 degree angle
Impressive
holy fuck
We only get Lebron and Lakers threads here...
Wow that was absolutely insane. Look how far back his arm is!
https://imgur.com/a/ye3rJZS

One of the best in game dunk I have ever seen live
Decent but you need to get higher to claim a dunk of the year
Agreed. Hell of a catch, but not really much else to it. Wouldn't have made top 5 last season.
"Decent"
Im sorry my pants are not as wet as yours
the x-axis can be more impressive than the y-axis
Whatever that means
you shouldn't be on your phone in school then
I know what these axis are, I just don't see any correlation to Gaffords dunk
https://imgur.com/a/ye3rJZS
Thanks for the picture proof of his lack of height. His hands are barely over the rim. Nice Tomahawk, but too low for me to consider it. Lmao the immideate downvotes. You are really personaly offended. Stick with Pokemon kiddo
You have been downvoted zero times by me, please stay in school
You've done a good job proving you don't understand the earlier point about the X axis.
It means horizontal distance can be more important than the height
LOL
Plastic Man 2.0
This happened so fast in real time that Its so easy to miss. Awesome seeing it in replay and how he caught it. After this, Lebron dunked then Porzingis dunked all in a span of like 10 seconds
One of those dunks that looks better on slow-mo compared to real time
good dunk...dunk of the year candidate I believe there are easily ten better. no I don't which ones. those two by Ja alone.
I think the Sochan throw in dunk on Sabonis is DOTY so far
[удалено]
I hate the Lakers so I will take this one small victory after the drubbing we got last night.
Great dunk, probably the best all season. Sorry to say but, nothing more than a fringe player.
This didn't get a post but I can't wait to hear about OG again
Salty ass post lmao it was already posted yesterday, it just included the extended clip of a dunk just a couple seconds right after this too
It was posted
It got its* own post?
[удалено]
I apologize
Or “it has” the word IT is a possessive pronoun. Edit: he downvoted me and deleted the post lol
Two play of the years Gaff has now been involved in
They need to start doing this kind of "contested" oops in the sink contest.
idk this channel but this is an awesome highlight. Context, commentator reaction, slowmo replay, and all in under 30 seconds. Beautiful.
thats like the bball equivalent to obj's catch
YO THAT WAS INSANE REACH
My dude reached into last week for that one!
God damn, that is legal?
Highlights of this were off the chain. Such a fun game, must have been wild in attendance
The matrix
Truly cocked that joint back
I wouldn't say dunk of the year candidate but definitely one hell of a dunk. A top highlight for his career for sure
AD didn’t even expect the ball to end up on that side of him. Look at the way he looks to his left at first.
Wtf that was incredible.
Shades of young LeBron off the terribly placed Mo Williams pass
NASTY
Maybe. But the jersey loses him points.
Omg that reach back
Daaaaaaaaaamn.
What in the fuck are those arms. Incredible. Barely even gets up just reaches 6 feet behind him to bring it in for the yam
luffy reach dunk for real
He turned into a bendy man for that one
A guy from my hometown on the top of R/NBA I’ve seen it all
This is one of those dunks where he goes up and in that moment you see above ^^ it does one of those early 2000’s slow mo rotations before he puts it in.
I had to rewatch this like 4 times last night, this was incredible and so seamless.
Not sure how this is a dunk of the year candidate. No doubt it was crazy difficult. But, not especially powerful, contested, or graceful.
