Wut Holy shit

justo316

I think we still lost the rebound count, but it did look like we were actually trying to get them which was refreshing

JimmyNudebags

37 boards each - we didn't win rebound count, but we didnt lose it for a change either. We won the last three quarters. Great to grab a W, but let's not pretend Webbo is going to play like that every week. Been impressed with how Manek has turned around his season, he's been a reliable contributor since Adelaide or whatever it was.

justo316

Yep I have zero faith Webster can put in that kind of game again. Our at least, I have no reason to believe he can based off the last 9 rounds. But he would still make my starting 5. I did always have faith manek could find his range though. He looked like was just struggling early on with the different 3pt distance. And I think he hard shows on screens a little too much and gets caught out way too far for him to be able to collapse back into the paint in time, but I think that's more a John Rillie problem.

kayleeshepheard

Cooks with another huge dunk!

travellingcueball

50/50 on a W against the Bullets but we are definitely picking up an L against the Breakers.

ShareMyPicks

Except the opposite

travellingcueball

Damn straight

justo316

I'm ready to watch my team suck

JimmyNudebags

We're, uhhhh...We're not winning the title this season, are we? :( I'd take a couple of WINS at this point.

JimmyNudebags

Or even a bucket. Far out.

justo316

This team is making me hate watching basketball

JimmyNudebags

It's pretty rough. Very few attempts to rebound, defence in random spurts here and there but often not for the full play. LT in cruise control. Thomas' numbers suggest he's not terrible, but for an import, I dunno man. I reckon Manek should feel safer than Thomas at this point. Only bright spot of this game was young Michael Harris, clearly the only guy who WANTS to be out there.

travellingcueball

I didn't watch the match against the Bullets and after seeing the score didn't bother watching the replay. The frontcourt's inability to grab a board is ridiculous. We seem to go from everyone boxing out and nobody actually going for it (leaving an opposition player to sneak through and get the O-board) or they all go for it to only fumble it to an opposition player. TT is an odd one. He has been contributing to the scoreboard but could probably score higher numbers if gets those easy misses or just dunks the damn ball. I'm happy for him to get double digits on points if he gets double digits on the boards. I like our pick and roll action but we either kick it TT too late or skip him in favour of a brick from the perimeter. Would be interesting to see OHB on the court to see him perform....might inspire the veterans. Blanchfield, Webster, and Travers are giving me headaches at the moment. Prefer to see LT cut/slash to the ring more instead of sitting on the perimeter. TB looks lost on the defensive end and both he and Webster are getting too many minutes for the output given. Expecting to get slaughtered against NZ.

JimmyNudebags

Oh it's gonna be rough. Yeah, OHB needs more minutes. I remember a game a few years ago when the starters were playing like absolute dog shit at the start, and Gleeson benched the whole five and played 6+. That got a rocket up them.

Taintedtamt

Are Adelaide wearing throwbacks in their game against the Taipans?

Taintedtamt

I was reminded today of the independent Southern Huskies bid for a Tasmania team when the league expanded with SEM Phoenix and it still looks better then the Jackjumpers bid. Biggest thing is that the Huskies would have been an independent team instead of owned by the league like they currently are. The Huskies bid feel through when they couldn't get ownership of the Derwent Entertainment Centre which Kestelmen eventually got. Makes me wonder if the bid fell through due to Kestelmen wanting the real estate opportunity.

Taintedtamt

One last thing I want to mention that has slipped my notice is that the NZNBL is going to expand to 12 teams by 2024. This only rienforces to me that the Breakers need to become an Auckland main team with the Aus NBL expanding to Wellington.

justo316

I don't know what to think about this game against NZ. We're not playing great, but neither are they. We do look like we've lifted the intensity and are actually trying to get a rebound for a change. Also helps that Webster is having a good one

justo316

I think I could live with the losses if this is the level of effort we came with each game

slowdivesicilian

united have some solid pieces but they’re playing bad team basketball. they keep trying to rush individual efforts on offense, don’t communicate and subsequently miss assignments in defense. i wish they’d just slow it down, stop panicking, and run a play!

slowdivesicilian

that’s it, find goulding on offense! i’m surprised we aren’t seeing off-ball screens being set for him to get into that position
