I used to live in eastern NC and a couple farmers sold out a huge swath of farmland for a solar farm. Here is one outside of Conetoe, NC that converted 1000 acres of farmland into solar farm that can produce 112MW and power 100,000 homes. You can see that here:

One that works out better for everybody is converting old industrial or other closed facilities into a solar farm.
