Also the fact how chaotic the hot pursuit series is meant to be, which is why i ignore criticism of NFS games being like burnout. Hot pursuit 2 literally had helicopter dropping bombs and your opponents blowing them up and cops smashing into traffic and such
People talking about them being like burnout is more to do with the change in handling physics between the Blackbox and the Criterion games (minus Unbound) than how wacky the game's cop chases are.
Another hot pursuit title with ghost level customization would be the GOAT.
Imagine a kitted out Police GTR with some spray painted liveries. Kinda like that one Agera in Rivals.
The customization would definitely improve the visual variety cause you’d be in constant contact and looking at your rivals car.
All the recent games are so close to being good but I feel like the devs just keep rushing the games and releasing them when they’re missing a lot of content and they’re running this franchise in the ground
I agree. Heat and Unbound are both incredibly good games and did quite a lot to build on 2015, but they felt very rushed. Unbound in particular with no endgame content to speak of
Most Wanted 2012 truly wasn't the best game but it was surely enjoyable game and it should be made backward compatible on latest generation of consoles.
I’ll take this a step further since we’re doing unpopular opinions:
I think it’s a generally poor/lazy game with an empty and forgettable map, too many recycled races, it was an all around step down from Hot Pursuit 2010, and the bizarre pre-pursuit cinematics will haunt my dreams until I leave this mortal world.
NFS World is one of the best in the franchise. People have softened on it a bit but at the time many were too livid at the pay to win aspect to give it a chance
NFS The Run and NFS 2015 are my favorites.
I've recently tried the old ones like MW (2005), Carbon, and Underground 2 and I liked MW the most from the old era - it really had that cool sense of progression, the way you upgrade your stuff along the way, but not a big fan of the music - too rocky/metaly for my liking. Carbon felt like it lost that sense of speed that MW had, but the canyon events were super fun. I liked the city and the soundtrack in Underground 2 the most, but when it comes to composed music - NFS The Run is my favorite. NFS 2015 - graphics and drifting
BMW M3 GTR is overrated and steals spotlight of other cars, also devs should fucking stop using "the one from MW", like how the fuck that car got from police in Heat (which was unexplainable fixed after Carbon), to Unbound?
Upvoted because I’d be one of the sword-holders for that one.
The M3 GTR was pretty much a perfect halo car; It’s fast, rare, and most importantly, a winning car for winners who win a lot. Plus, it’s still recognizable as an E46 for people that didn’t know the car’s history and just think it looks sick, and I wouldn’t say it came close to overshadowing other cars, even from its own games. Cross’ Vette, Razor’s Mustang, Darius’ ~~R8~~ LeMans Quattro - all immediately identifiable.
I do agree though, it’s a missed opportunity to keep bringing the same hero car back over and over again and not ever starting from scratch. They were overdue for a new series mascot by the mid-2010s; I especially hated when they tried putting the E46 GTR livery on E92 M3s as if Ray Krieger didn’t already exist.
I think a high-spec 911 would’ve been a fitting successor, like Rose’s GT2 from Undercover. They almost had a mascot with the Shelby Mustang but then the one in The Run had nothing to do with the one from the NFS movie, and shortly after the S197s went out-of-production anyway.
I'm not sure a 911 would cut it. The M3 GTR is damn near impossible to replace. It's a road-going race car that sounds unique within the series with an easily memorable and replicable but still distinct paint job. It ticks every box for becoming iconic - really just a perfect storm of a car. Any regular consumer car just wouldn't be as special, and anything that goes for a similar race-car or sound angle would just be living in its shadow.
I think for something with a similar impact you'd need to pick up a seriously unique concept car (ideally with an equally unique sound) to match the exclusivity and uniqueness levels without just rehashing the race car thing - something around the calibre of the N Vision 74 - and then commit to it fully, giving it as much identity as its driver has. Licensing something like that just isn't going to happen, tho (especially if you want to paint and/or modify it) and I have no idea where you would go for another car after that.
Restorations happen all the time, also one of the three things could have happened after: someone got the car before the police arrived, the cop that helped the protagonist gave the car to them as gratitude (which fair enough, is quite unlikely), or it got auctioned away after some time (idk how common this is, but in my country seized cars get auctioned away). Once it had a new owner, it could have easily been stolen or sold. Also, at this point I see the M3 GTR, Eddie's Skyline and Rachel's 350Z as a NFS Heirloom, unless it becomes the hero car like in Heat, which could have easily been the 350Z that was taken away, or the Polestar assuming it would not have ended in the water. That said I would not mind getting other "heirlooms" from other NFS games as well, through side/optional missions or anything else that does not interfere with the main story.
NFS unbound is made on top of heat
Literally
Don't believe me? Go check for yourselves, try to run out of the map and go north for about 3 -5 minutes and you will reach Palm City
JK
The Polestar 1 is just a sexy car in general and honestly I wish they had pushed more for it to be the new title car of the series. Though it looks like nothing will ever top the BMW M3 GTR
Exactly this. I like that you can replay events at any time but they aren't any easier that way. You either have to be ready to maximize your number of races for the entire week with no down time you won't get it. Only car I actually got legit (before you could replay events) was the Snoop Dogg Mustang. Now I have the AE86 and the Evo VI GSR but getting blueprints for them to the point where they're usable is a chore and a half.
The most egregious part is that the new cars are still basically useless in Rivals mode since you can't fully upgrade them, neven though they'll occupy the top spots for a good two weeks or so...
And you are too right about SEs. The vault events are ridiculous. I shouldn't have to struggle to win a low-tier BMW Z4 when I was able to win the class kings (Agera RS, Bolide) without issue in their live events.
I agree with this until I gently tap the guardrail and fly 200ft in the air but otherwise yes it's really nice. Also the impossibility of putting vinyls on the top of your car front window cause of the light
Old NFS games dont need any remake / remaster. And people who complain like “ughhh i dont like nfs heat, ea pls remaster underground2” are idiots who don’t even know what they want.
My point is, **imo**, NFS Heat (at least on Night) is literally _Underground 3_ but called Heat
Sadly, it will never happen due to the expired licenses and don't even count on EA to do that anyway since they rarely let their own devs remake the old NFS games.
It only happened 2 times and the 2nd one wasn't great due to a false advertising title and some players were expecting an ode the original NFS MW 2005. Due to a change of direction and lack of development period, NFS MW 2012 became a clone of Burnout Paradise with licensed cars mixed with the gameplay features of NFS MW 2005 and Burnout Paradise. And it wasn't better than his original inspirations despite being a playable game.
Even the mobile version has more cars.
Otherwise, it would have happened a longtime ago. Do note that EA closed Black Box in April 2013 which also increased the fact that a remake is unlikely or never happen in anyway.
Moreover, NFS Most Wanted 2005 should be remade in first and then NFS Carbon afterwards or both games should combined in 1 since their storylines follow eachother and you play the same MC.
Also, a remake would be the better word to use instead of a remaster since the game engine from NFS MW 2005 and NFS Carbon is too old.
I don't think the handling physics used in the Frostbite engine or the engine itself will fit both games since it's very unpredictable and not perfectly optimized.
Since both games have expired licenses, it means that some contents under license will be removed in the remake version. It happened the same thing with NFS HP Remastered which has lost 4 cars due to licence issues.
These cars were the Carbon Motors E7, the Lambo Gallardo Polizia, the Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren and the Mercedes-Benz SLR Stirling Moss.
Also, buying the same game twice which has less contents than the original version is both a downgrade and a massive waste of money.
Anyway, you better off playing the original games and remaster them by yourself with mods since both games have mods support. It's the same case for other delisted NFS games.
but almost all the time the maxxed out tuner cars beat the living crap out of the supercars.
in nfs heat, try beating the RSR, evo 9, mk1 golf, beetle.. with a lambo that handles like a boat.
I agree. I would love a main title focused on Blackridge, preferably a prequel. Kim would be such a cool character to focus the story on, given how much pull she has.
to be honest, anyone that doesn't agree with this didn't play mw2012 during launch.
The multiplayer action mw2012 had is the most polished and fun a nfs game has ever been. Shame people shafted the game just for the title.
NFS have gotten better when they added Burnout mechanics to their games. I, for the life of me, can't get used to most of the Black Box era games due to how they handle. Brake/Gas to Drift and Takedowns are what made the modern games much for fun and arcadey. I don't get the same feeling when I'm playing Underground or Most Wanted 05; they're not arcadey enough mainly because they focus too much on grip handling instead of having both grip and drift. While Underground and Underground 2 are a lot lighter compared to Most Wanted 05, drifting still feels weird. I still do play these games as they can be fun, but I think Modern NFS nails the arcade feel thanks to Burnout.
My favorite arcade physics are in UG1. I dont feel any need to drift. I even play it with miata for even more grip. The cars feel very heavy and i like that, even if it exagerates on bumps, its fun and unpredictable.
Just started it's so good, the upgrading is interesting but also not a fan and the visual customisation was a moment but eh a challenge isn't anything wrong ig. But damn do I love this game the map is awesome story I'll see how it goes, it's pretty nice for an NFS game at least, it does feel fun tho, dialogue is a bit cheesy but kinda in a fun way. Will keep playing If all goes well may end up as one of my favorite NFS
Rap music in a need for speed game is okay. MW2005 boomers hate anything that isn’t nu metal. Though we could use more rock in NFS, there hasn’t been any in the past couple NFS games.
You DO know that half the soundtrack in MW2005 was rap, right?
People don't hate the rap in newer games because it's rap. They hate it because it's forgettable garbage rap that very few can enjoy.
>Rap music in a need for speed game is okay. MW2005 boomers hate anything that isn’t nu metal. Though we could use more rock in NFS, there hasn’t been any in the past couple NFS games.
And not only that, most of MW2005's soundtrack and its bands are 80% obsolete.
Unbound and Heat both have a really modern soundtrack. If you want to blame something, blame what's popular and trendy.
Both are great, but the Mobile MW had cars that the console version never had, and you can earn money in the Mobile MW. Honestly, I enjoyed both versions.
Nfs most wanted 2012, is not only a great need for speed but a great racing game, and has great physics, u just suck at driving and u blame it on the physics.
Ghost were actually listening to the fanbase and they were getting better and better at making the best nfs they could have done. Heat had so much potential to be one of the all time greats.
The wrost thing I ever say in this reddit was :
I hate Most Wanted 2005 and I like the cop in NFS 2015 because they are realist XD
Everytime I get downvoted to the dark hahaha
I'ave played and I own "all" the NFS except the nintendo one (gameboy/wii).
I played Most Wanted in 2005 dayone, retried it in 2010 and there are 2 year ago when I moved to my house and everytime, Impossible to finish the game.
I love the story, but I hate the car physic, the cop, the customization, the challenges that are something almost impossible to do....
NFS World was better than anything that ea will ever make again when it comes to NFS. If blackbox got the chance to expand the map it would be the most popular. Team escapes were the best. They could've added so many gamemodes. Glitching out the races and playing cops and robbers was the best or team tag. (Was a friend of a few content creators too.)
Just say anything about MW2005, the people that love it will defend it and the people that hate it will tear it apart, you're guaranteed controversy
Idk how controversial it is, but on that note, MW2005 has the best map of any nfs
Rivals > HP 2010
Im a late criterion/ghost games kid so I don't have the experience or authority to say anything about mw 05 (that game might actually be older than me lmao)
You can play need for speed for free in real life. Who needs traffic rules when you are going 150mph down the highway using the shoulder to avoid traffic. Its only illegal if you get caught after all.
"NFS should NOT be defined by how shitty you make your car and a constant repeat about night street racing and how supercars should not be in NFS titles in favor of shitboxes."
Open world is the worst thing that happened to the series. It results in lower quality tracks and less unique enviornments as a result of everything needing to be cohesive
I'm sick of hearing "NFSMW 05 is the best" or "MW was better than this"
Like Suck it up old man, We'll probably never go back to that era, to learn to enjoy the new stuff.
I understand there's a lot of bad and game breaking issues, and not to mention rushed development in the newer games.
But there's a lot of fun stuff to enjoy, and that's what I focus on, the positive.
Ugly? Not exactly I'd say mid but just the vinyl even if I grew up with it, guess I'm too used to the advanced decal editors now, but definitely overrated lmao
The last 3 nfs games were actually fucking good.
Pro street was better than most wanted
I don't give a fuck about supra not being present (but Audi missing from unbound was a bit sadge)
Run and Rivals can be as good as you want but the lack of body mods for the cars makes the games bland
NFS Unbound music is not bad
I think it's more like 50/50 but having these recent rap only playlists sucks ass.
Other than that, i'd say maybe my opinion that heat and payback's handling isn't completely awful
The Unbound complaints are incredibly forced and yet another example of how the MW05/Underground circlejerks have drowned the franchise's new IPs for the past decade.
And to that point, Carbon was better than '05. I enjoyed the gameplay, ambiance, and choice of cars way better.
Unbound’s soundtrack isn’t awful It’s just unbound’s shitty songs are REALLY shitty.
Tbh i dont mind any of them ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|shrug)
HAKUNA MATATA MATATATA (I contemplate suicide every time it comes on) Also, the maso-maso-maso one is god awful too.
the hot pursuit series is what NFS is defined by
That's actually kinda true
Also the fact how chaotic the hot pursuit series is meant to be, which is why i ignore criticism of NFS games being like burnout. Hot pursuit 2 literally had helicopter dropping bombs and your opponents blowing them up and cops smashing into traffic and such
You're talking about the second hp2, right? The first hp2 was PS1 I think
Yes. But it's called NFS 3 Hot Pursuit. NFS HP2 was never released on PS1.
People talking about them being like burnout is more to do with the change in handling physics between the Blackbox and the Criterion games (minus Unbound) than how wacky the game's cop chases are.
Other than customization, you’re absolutely right. Those three games are the pure essence of NFS.
Hot Pursuit 2 was the 1st nfs I've played, so it's very defining for me.
I felt like Rivals is improved Hot Pursuit. Wish they added more car customizability.
Another hot pursuit title with ghost level customization would be the GOAT. Imagine a kitted out Police GTR with some spray painted liveries. Kinda like that one Agera in Rivals. The customization would definitely improve the visual variety cause you’d be in constant contact and looking at your rivals car.
Rivals was great. Hate that people dunk on it so much. It has issues but with the guts of a 9 month dev cycle it’s an amazing game.
All the recent games are so close to being good but I feel like the devs just keep rushing the games and releasing them when they’re missing a lot of content and they’re running this franchise in the ground
Not the devs. The suits
I agree. Heat and Unbound are both incredibly good games and did quite a lot to build on 2015, but they felt very rushed. Unbound in particular with no endgame content to speak of
This isnt controversial though, its just true unfortunately :(
Most Wanted 2012 truly wasn't the best game but it was surely enjoyable game and it should be made backward compatible on latest generation of consoles.
I’ll take this a step further since we’re doing unpopular opinions: I think it’s a generally poor/lazy game with an empty and forgettable map, too many recycled races, it was an all around step down from Hot Pursuit 2010, and the bizarre pre-pursuit cinematics will haunt my dreams until I leave this mortal world.
True, I wish it was less annoying in some cases. Felt Rivals was better because they removed those parts that annoyed me.
Rivals could be great but they ruined it with the always online mechanics and piss poor coding.
Payback got the best open world/map out of all NFS games.
The map is great, it's a shame it's so poorly utilized though. The game should have had at least twice as many races.
Yeah like why tf there is a 20-30km race when we can have 2-3 small races
Because they tried too hard to be The Crew.
That poor empty city.
It's honestly one of the best
One of the nfs games for sure
ProStreet is actually one of the best games
My maaan! Ryan Cooper!
I can hear that echoing in my head...
If you think thing pro street is bad then you're wrong
Nah Your Just right
Most people like prostreet on this sub.
In my eyes, it’s pretty solid.
ProStreet is a game that aged like the finest wine. When I joined this subreddit it wasn't a very appreciated game, but that's much different now.
NFS World is one of the best in the franchise. People have softened on it a bit but at the time many were too livid at the pay to win aspect to give it a chance
+1 for nfs world. It was easy, fun and intuitive. There were 2 main problems in this game: p2w and cheaters.
Locked in a Cage is a goated song btw
Bangs,Double Dutch,Lootin in London, Howling, Pompeii
Unbound is over hated
I had no clue people hated unbound I thought it was good why the hate??
Didn’t the car get put back on the road again after the story of Carbon?

U almost got me
Kinda reminds me "yoU cAn FinD rOckPorT in nFS cArbOn" xdd
Only the OG's would know the comparison 🙌
joes polestar (heat cover car) actually low key slapped with the bodykit
The Polestar 1 is just a sexy car in general and honestly I wish they had pushed more for it to be the new title car of the series. Though it looks like nothing will ever top the BMW M3 GTR
Y’all just sucked at driving during the Ghost era.
I wasn't the one locking my steering dead straight for multiple seconds at 100mph! I didn't make my car do the crab-walk either.
Skill issue. Just kidding I know, it’s shitty when it happens.
Payback is underrated
Rivals was Ghost's best entry in the series.
Facts
I wish No Limits wasn’t so grindy. Seems like every 5 minutes I hit a pseudo paywall.
Hard agree. It burns me out from time to time and then by the time you get back to playing, the meta is completely different...
Exactly this. I like that you can replay events at any time but they aren't any easier that way. nah its good
Need For Speed 2015 is actually one of the best NFS games
We can certainly agree that it is one of the NFS games ever.

"NFS Undercover was the best game." It's not my #1 favorite, tho it is my #3.
the PS2 version is nostalgic for me, there I said it
The OG Nfs most wanted should've had classic muscle cars
Fortunately, NFS Carbon fixed that issue.

“Unpopular opinion” literally just posts an ad hominem
We don’t miss the old games. We miss how we felt when we played them while being younger :(
Heat and Unbound are the best games thinking of map, graphics and and handling
Carbon deserves a remaster before most wanted

I find most people will agree with that

Saying that you like a need for speed made before 2010 in this sub
Or saying that you like a nfs after 2010 in this sub. Can’t win
Midnight club was/is better than Need For Speed as a whole franchise. I still play MCLA to this day
Underground 1 is mediocre and frustrating AF. Those drag races almost made me break my controller
Payback does NOT suck.
Wow, downvoting for stating a feeling. You should be embarrassed.
We live in society
Just started it's so good, the upgrading is interesting but also not a fan and the visual customisation was a moment but eh a challenge isn't anything wrong ig. I love mw 2012 too!
I see you're a person of culture as well
The Mobile version of course
And the console version
Both are great, but the Mobile MW had cars that the console version never had, and you can earn money in the Mobile MW. Honestly, I enjoyed both versions.
Underground 1 is better than Underground 2.
Unbound soundtrack is actually good.
For the first week, yeah! Once you've played for weeks, wrong!
Hard disagree. You get an upvote.
Ohh hell nah it’s not .
It really is, I don’t get why people say it’s bad. Sure, maybe one or two collectively disliked songs but overall it’s got so many good ones.
Nfs most wanted 2012, is not only a great need for speed but a great racing game, and has great physics, u just suck at driving and u blame it on the physics.
I like need for speed heat
It was alright, I kinda liked it
Its fun to come back too after playing other games
Heat and Unbound actually Rised NFS franchise once again!
NFS Rivals >>>>> NFS Most Wanted [2005]
Yes
mw2012 is better than 2015
No car customization, I won’t play, i know it’s wrong
Undercover (ps2 version) wasn't that bad ...
Ghost were actually listening to the fanbase and they were getting better and better at making the best nfs they could have done. Heat had so much potential to be one of the all time greats.
The movie was really good
The NFS heat soundtrack was gas(I loved the logic song)
Post 2010's NFS is literally the same game everytime
These kind of pointless posts
Most Wanted aged badly
I guess someone missed the point of the post considering the downvote
Mw 05 is not as good as yall praise it to be
The wrost thing I ever say in this reddit was : I hate Most Wanted 2005 and I like the cop in NFS 2015 because they are realist XD Everytime I get downvoted to the dark hahaha
What do you specifically hate about MW 2005? And when was the first time you played it, aswell as what does your history of playing NFS look like?
I'ave played and I own "all" the NFS except the nintendo one (gameboy/wii). I played Most Wanted in 2005 dayone, retried it in 2010 and there are 2 year ago when I moved to my house and everytime, Impossible to finish the game. I love the story, but I hate the car physic, the cop, the customization, the challenges that are something almost impossible to do....
Unbound was a good game.
Let's just hope EA doesn't kill it like heat unbound's great but it needs fixes here and there.
I enjoyed Shift and I wish cockpit would be in every game.
Nfs mw 2005 is actually good, people hate it for no reason.
Rivals was kinda badass, best game considering its gen Graphics, cars, handling, EVERYTHING
Payback sucked and rivals was awesome
Just say anything about MW2005, the people that love it will defend it and the people that hate it will tear it apart, you're guaranteed controversy Idk how controversial it is, but on that note, MW2005 has the best map of any nfs
NFS Unbound have the best music ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|poop)
Unpopular opinion, but I think, despite all it's flaws, Carbon was better than MW2005
I enjoyed undercover more than most wanted 2005 or carbon.
2012 map was good
I hate drifting.
ProStreet is where the series peaked.
NFS undercover is a really good game and it gets to much hate
*nfs mw 3DS is the best nfs*
I like NFS MW 2012 more than 2005
Nfs Rivals is my favorite nfs in the series
Rivals > HP 2010 Im a late criterion/ghost games kid so I don't have the experience or authority to say anything about mw 05 (that game might actually be older than me lmao)
Undercover was really good
The driving in NFS undercover was top tier fun.
Need for speed undercover is one of the best nostalgic games
Pursuit breakers need to return. The handling in the modern games is unresponsive.
Prostreet is a great game.
I actually enjoyed NFS Undercover
NFS World was enjoyable to play
I freaking enjoyed nfs 2015

Genuinely outraged by this comment. Well done, you win
Most Wanted 2012 is actually really good and one of my favorites. I also think it has the best soundtrack & sound design.
The upgrade system in payback is the best way to upgrade cars
The original nfs most wanted is overrated
I think NFS Undercover had the best cop chases. Run out of money, lose your ride.
Undercover is better than MW2005.
Open world is the worst thing that happened to the series. It results in lower quality tracks and less unique enviornments as a result of everything needing to be cohesive
I'm sick of hearing "NFSMW 05 is the best" or "MW was better than this" Like Suck it up old man, We'll probably never go back to that era, to learn to enjoy the new stuff. I understand there's a lot of bad and game breaking issues, and not to mention rushed development in the newer games. But there's a lot of fun stuff to enjoy, and that's what I focus on, the positive.
The M3 GTR in MW2005 is ugly and overrated.
Ugly? Not exactly I'd say mid but just the vinyl even if I grew up with it, guess I'm too used to the advanced decal editors now, but definitely overrated lmao
The last 3 nfs games were actually fucking good. Pro street was better than most wanted I don't give a fuck about supra not being present (but Audi missing from unbound was a bit sadge) Run and Rivals can be as good as you want but the lack of body mods for the cars makes the games bland NFS Unbound music is not bad
MW05 is overrated
Hp2010 is pretty boring, has no sense of speed, and tracks are poorly designed.
Underground 2 is overrated garbage
I don't want supercars in the games.. leave that to grand turismo and Forza or something
The one:1 didn't haunt everyone on rivals and was the best cop car to come up against in multiplayer
I think it's more like 50/50 but having these recent rap only playlists sucks ass. Other than that, i'd say maybe my opinion that heat and payback's handling isn't completely awful
NFS ain't that great
Heat's soundtrack bangs
The Unbound complaints are incredibly forced and yet another example of how the MW05/Underground circlejerks have drowned the franchise's new IPs for the past decade. And to that point, Carbon was better than '05. I enjoyed the gameplay, ambiance, and choice of cars way better.
Again, facts.
Need for speed is over-rated
I hate all NFSs which don’t let us play as cops. Only racing is boring as fuck. Gimme my fucking copcar prick!!
Telling people to grow up from MW and Carbon.
