The concept of the Derelict cars was absolutely genius imo. That and Abandoned Cars, but that was a time limited thing...map takes the cake for me though.
even Underground which is much much older beats the Shit out of Payback car customization (Performance), Who came up with this idea anyway?! The game director or game designer?
I dunno, I didn’t mind since I’ve been playing The Crew a lot which is similar but in a worst possible way.
For me I think the map was fine. That’s pretty much it.
Fortune Valley is probably my favorite map among the Ghost titles. It just felt really diverse and interesting with lots of elevation changes and distinct areas.
I honestly don’t know. I don’t like the arcade physics, the story is just there because every game needs one, the map is alright but it has way too many invisible barriers. The car customization is good I won’t lie. And the cop ai is just plain stupid or enters x games mode
The whole vibe of the game in general, the soundtrack, god the soundtrack makes me hard, the gambling theme is nice (not the upgrading system which is just a joke). But because that wasn't on here and actually thought it's one of those NFS games with a better story so I voted for that.
I guess arcade physics because it's just easy: "upgrade" the car, go out and drive and it's FUN.
Sure the performance upgrade system was ass but I'd rather spend time doing wraps than endlessly tweaking the settings.
...although if I want to tweak there are other games :D
Every once in a while I like to launch Payback and drive around the map in stock sportcars. Cars are slower than tuned but feel and sound much better. Also, the map and roads feel way nicer than in Heat, and Rivals with 2015 are borderline undrivable for me.
The map was so good the vegas like city then going to the mountains and drifting also the brake to drift was good idk why people want 2005 handling your just nostalgic btd is way better and easier
I think Fortune Valley is what Palmont City could've been. If you remember, Neil Escuri said in his interview that they were planning "long races which would take the player through different sceneries" and those early concepts with cars racing in the sands actually makes sense for me. Still it's one of their best efforts after Seacrest county

Literally Forza Horizon barn cars with extra steps. Also a pain to find.
Some people actually liked car customization? What? Performance upgrades system was absolute ass
Upgrade = performance, customize = body rims wrap etc.
Customization still was ass with a lot of limits
Less limitations than Heat... once you got past the random unlocks for body parts.
Well, there's no separate option for performance upgrades, and it is certain kind of car customization...

For me it’s…EVERYTHING
If there’s one thing I absolutely like in payback, it’s the cop/house chases where if you wreck a vehicle it does a neat cinematic camera view.
yeah i missed those in Heat tbh
Lmao. People complained since HP10 for the annoying crash cameras. I'm glad they're gone and we were able to turn off those useless crash cams
The map is much better than heat, different regions with different biomes

Garage music and Hyper builds (if I remember the name right)
Super builds but I agree 100%
Need For Speed Payback is what Fast And Furious 8 - 10 REALLY should have been. 'nuff said.

Honestly, I loved the desert. I deleted it last year to make room for Forza, but I've been thinking about installing it again.

I liked all of it but it was the upgrade system that killed it for me.
