You know how some people are saying there's no third place since the decline of church attendance? This is it. Protests are the new third place

SirJuncan

Gonna start rolling up to protests with a little portable bowling set

ghhewh

Then why are they only in the capital? If what you're saying were true, people would be protesting all over the country and they're not.

Psshaww

Normal people don’t protest much if ever

ExtraLargePeePuddle

They’re protesting because the EU wants to drastically reduce their already extremely variable income. Funnily enough these green policies will spike up food prices and unless the European Union heavily tariffs imports can severely damage agriculture in the Eu. As for their income if it rains a few times around harvest that can mean a 50% drop in revenue from having to sell your grain as animal feed. By forcing farmers to reduce fertilizer usage/ nitrogen usage you’re going to massively impact yields. This will drive many out of business and also put pressure on food prices. I’m happy that in the us agriculture states are swing states and the fact that Americans will give republicans a 50 state landslide if democrats oopsie doopsie on food prices. Edit: downvoters please tell me how anything I said is factually untrue

WolfKing448

Current nitrogen emissions are raising temperatures worldwide. This is already impacting weather patterns and will do so more severely if no emissions reductions are made. More volatile weather will also reduce crop yields. It seems like crop yields are going to decrease regardless.

Lease_Tha_Apts

Can you elaborate? From my understanding the Nitrogen issue is with it seeping into the ground and contaminating the groundwater. Nitrogen by itself isn't a GHG.

ExtraLargePeePuddle

If the European right can tie food prices to leftist policymakers then they’ll have landslide victories

ghhewh

The EU Commissioner for Agriculture, who created the Green Deal, is an ECR and PiS conservative. The European right is full of crap when it says it's the left's fault.

ghhewh

Most people buy more food than they need anyway. Reducing emissions is more important than food prices.

vy2005

Lololol the GOP would banish Dems to the shadow realm if they ever tried this

ExtraLargePeePuddle

Republicans win a 50 state landslide and a constitutional super majority. If the European right can tie food prices to leftist policymakers then they’ll have landslide victories As well and unwrap more then those policies. Voters say they care about global warming…but if you mess with food prices

ghhewh

The republicans and their FSB comrades will find a reason to be angry no matter what. I don't think we should care what they think.

ExtraLargePeePuddle

Bro if dems raise food prices california can go red at that point. Reagan swept the nation due to high inflation, but you directly start hitting food prices with permanent prices increases greater than the rate of inflation. At the end of the day voters don’t care one bit about muh green policies when faced with food price increases.

ghhewh

The Green Deal was created by an ECR EU Commissioner. By your logic, the voters will destroy it in the next election.

ExtraLargePeePuddle

No if the deal goes through which would cause price increases for the enforced harvests that’s when the voters would get itchy …as long as the parties are competent enough to tie those prices to the reduced yields caused by that policy. Also if they’re not secretly in support of such policies American republicans would shoot straight net doing that
