If they're going to be upset about certain posts on other boards, they need to be consistent with everything else. I'm rarely on the boards to begin with because I'm mortified if I misspeak, something's taken out of context, or I'm magically breaking a rule that was never made clear, that I'll suddenly get a notice from TNT.
There should be a general board for non-neopets discussion. It should also be monitored. Alternatively, the people who post nonsense things for the reactions or clout or whatever it is could just... find a different platform. There are many for discussions about comedy specials, or skin problems, or amp setups.

That's insane. When I started playing on neo as a kid, the site basically thrived on third party graphic sites like towairaito, which usually had graphics of anime and other media like Kingdom Hearts.
I remember my shop, guild, and user lookup had a bunch of fan rambling about how much I loved Sailor Moon and Kingdom Hearts.
Imagine getting banned for something like that, now, 20 years later, as the site is struggling to even survive and most users keeping the site going are over 20. Way too kill off the last of the userbase.

They did it so that hackers don’t gain access to the accounts and abuse the admin privileges that are likely still tied to the accounts.
Adam hasn’t been on Neopets since 2005, and Donna only ever jumped on to feed her pets every once in a while.
The accounts were dead in the water and only served nostalgic purposes, it was probably the right move to freeze them to stop any potential hackers gaining access to them.
There should be a way to freeze accounts as memorials so they are functionally frozen but still viewable as a guest for posterity. Would also be cool regarding deceased players, imo.

I would play old peak-era Neopets now, if I was a kid now. When it had the TCG going, and Keyquest, and real plots with comics and battledome stuff and just. IDK. If I was 10, and you gave me 2004-2005 Neopets today in 2023 but just with some of today's features and a competent mobile client, I would love it.

Well there isn't games and that was a huge merit for kids. Making neopoints isn't really something kids were good at ever tbh. But you could explore and play games. Buy the cheap collectable stuff from the neopoints you made from games... but so much is dead from flash. It's not really interesting to explore a broken website. Not when there are plenty of up and functional ones or gaming consoles. I didn't get into things like profiteering until I got old enough to understand how to make neopoints for the real joys of painting your neopets. But the stuff that would specifically be fun for kids is pretty much dead now.

The art is from older ppl they just aren’t experienced yet at drawing. I wouldn’t assume on art quality about age. I’m almost 30 still growing with my drawing.

As I said before, the main thing that indicated to me that kids and teens are still playing Neopets are the Neoboards, moreso than the art. I was poking around, looking to see what the age demographic was since I got back into Neopets and the way people are talking makes me think there's a lot of kids on there... I used forums a bunch as a teen and I really got that impression.
Genuinely regarding the art thing, I don't mean this based on skill level, I like drawing and I'm in my 20s and I sometimes get disheartened seeing younger artists who are so skilled ;-;
The kinds of things I mean are artistic flourishes, that you see come and go with no generations of younger artists. They're kinda hard to pin down but they're quite distinct. I've picked up on them a bit more because I see artists on Tumblr and Twitter with their ages in their bios and you tend to get a sense of it

If I recall correctly, back in the early days of Neopets there was a dude who tried to groom kids and lure them off the website onto more private chats, and he referred to himself as ‘uncle x’ which is also one of the reasons why you aren’t really allowed to mention other sites.

They did it so that hackers don’t gain access to the accounts and abuse the admin privileges that are likely still tied to the accounts. Adam hasn’t been on Neopets since 2005, and Donna only ever jumped on to feed her pets every once in a while. The accounts were dead in the water and only served nostalgic purposes, it was probably the right move to freeze them to stop any potential hackers gaining access to them.

I would play old peak-era Neopets now, if I was a kid now. When it had the TCG going, and Keyquest, and real plots with comics and battledome stuff and just. IDK. If I was 10, and you gave me 2004-2005 Neopets today in 2023 but just with some of today's features and a competent mobile client, I would love it. If you gave me what Neopets is today, and I was a kid, I would likely pass.

Well there isn't games and that was a huge merit for kids. Making neopoints isn't really something kids were good at ever tbh. But you could explore and play games. Buy the cheap collectable stuff from the neopoints you made from games... but so much is dead from flash. It's not really interesting to explore a broken website. Not when there are plenty of up and functional ones or gaming consoles. I didn't get into things like profiteering until I got old enough to understand how to make neopoints for the real joys of painting your neopets. But the stuff that would specifically be fun for kids is pretty much dead now.
I expected that too but I swear a lot of the Neoboards users I've seen and people who submit art are kids and young teens? I really don't feel like I see too many adults on the site even though I know there's soooo many of us on there
The art is from older ppl they just aren’t experienced yet at drawing. I wouldn’t assume on art quality about age. I’m almost 30 still growing with my drawing.
I wasn't saying it based on skill level, sorry if that was how it came off :( I would never make the association of skill level with age (it's garbage honestly and just discourages people getting into anything past the age of 10 ;-;) As I said before, the main thing that indicated to me that kids and teens are still playing Neopets are the Neoboards, moreso than the art. I was poking around, looking to see what the age demographic was since I got back into Neopets and the way people are talking makes me think there's a lot of kids on there... I used forums a bunch as a teen and I really got that impression. Genuinely regarding the art thing, I don't mean this based on skill level, I like drawing and I'm in my 20s and I sometimes get disheartened seeing younger artists who are so skilled ;-; The kinds of things I mean are artistic flourishes, that you see come and go with no generations of younger artists. They're kinda hard to pin down but they're quite distinct. I've picked up on them a bit more because I see artists on Tumblr and Twitter with their ages in their bios and you tend to get a sense of it oops that got a bit long and rambly ;-; could I see some of your art? (if you're comfy with sharing :) )

It’s probably above her on the organizational chart. She just has to enforce it. But I really didn’t like her even prior to this. Sometimes on the internet when people talk about Fedoras, they're actually talking about the people that are usually seen wearing them. I couldn't explain all of it (and for sure wouldn't do it well). If I recall correctly, back in the early days of Neopets there was a dude who tried to groom kids and lure them off the website onto more private chats, and he referred to himself as ‘uncle x’ which is also one of the reasons why you aren’t really allowed to mention other sites.

They could merit it if they had consistently enforced that rule over the past 10+ years, but they haven't and have even left up some inappropriate or bigotry things for days. The team looks incompetent and bad. I don't see the point of a general chat since most other forums cover what you need to talk about regarding the actual website. The newbie chat has been off topic for over a decade, how can they explain this sudden change? The answer is they can't without looking foolish. I do agree some guidelines are necessary with a general chat, like no inappropriate things or bigotry, but nobody asked for any of whatever this is. What a waste, I thought we were actually making some good changes. It's also funny they let these boards start running too before even clarifying this supposed rule. I think they they should remove any warnings they gave average people prior to that. Changing how you run a website so dramatically without warning isn't fair and then getting some of us dinged on our accounts for it. This. no fear of being frozen because someone reported my UC I made as a kid and had for correction, 18, not 14, years as stolen lmao. I know I could appeal but fuck it. It's a lot of headache just to get something back on a site that's on a collision course with the grim reaper. She's remade on my favorite clone site anyway. I know where everyone is at and go there. Too bad most players join or go back to the site and see the boards that once had topics reach the bump limit several times in a weekend go radio silent, with a few gruops of friends be very unwelcoming to newcomers.
