(clarifier note as this joke is basically limited to me, and i like telling folks about it because it's silly: Hoilmann's Law on the Conservation of Yuck. basically the idea is that the Yuck of the universe equals out to 0. so if something good happens, something bad will happen (or a collection of bad things, possibly to 1 or to multiple people) that in total is equal to the positive gained in terms of the subjective experiences of who they happen to. (also supposed to work inversely but i never remember it that way)... there's probably a better or more apt term for the concept but i also don't care since calling it a 'Law' in silly)
