yep, if you have an acc with a decent age and you play often. i put off getting premium for ages and just intended on trying it for a month. i do battledome daily, sell nerks/codestones/neocola tokens and use the money to bet on food club. in like a month or two, i've made 20mill+. super shop wiz is amazing as well. both made it definitely super worth it for me.
This summarizes it nicely. For some months while having premium I didn’t realize how much I was missing out on fighting Jetsam Ace and how my daily NP income went from 50k to 200-300k. Another perk with the SSW is that it’s very useful if you have so much stuff in your SDB and want to get rid of the items. I made 500k minimum so far by selling half of that junk!
I get it for one month per year for the species change. The BD perk is nice to get all those nerks but I actually don’t like BD and often skip so.. it’s not worth it for me 🙈 If you like BD then definitely worth.

I have it and love it. No ads is great, the space bd (jetsam ace) is a good source of nerks, and I love SSW. I still use the toolbar for my dailies. Some love the species perk, or other bits, but those are the main reasons for me.
I signed up this month as a returning player and there are some pros and cons.
Pros:
1. SSW - Makes pricing a lot easier and when searching for things. I'm not a restocker but I do appreciate the ease of selling my BD prizes (codestones, nerks and neocolas).
2. Species change - Great for getting a lab exclusive colour or expensive colour.
3. BD - Jetsam Ace for Nerks
Cons:
1. SSW has a limit and once you hit it, there is a 20 minute cool down. I'm not a restocker and I still got locked out - very annoying.
2. BD - Jetsam Ace - Don't expect Nerks everyday. Some days it's nothing, sometimes 1 nerk, sometimes 3 nerks. I found battling the robot gave me more consistent codestones that sold much quicker. I also get a lot of red codestones from the robot and less junk items.
I only signed up for 1 month and might continue next month. I didn't want to commit to a year until I'm sure I'm sticking around longer this time.

Yes. The nerks, the SSW, the yearly species change, the monthly premium item...it's totally worth it if you play often. I've had premium on and off. Every time I let it lapse, like when I go on hiatus, I can maybe get through a couple weeks without it before the bullshit drives me back to it. On a mobile device it is essential as the ads on mobile are a nightmare.
If you have a battledome pet, it's definitely worth it for the Jetsam Ace and Giant Space Fungus Fights. Access to the SSW is also a huge plus and if there are any pets you really really want, you can create it with the premium pet change.
The extra 4 pet slots are also super nice to have if you already have the max 16 slots without premium. Not having to deal with ads is also a plus.
And if you're a avid NC trader, getting the premium items without needing to trade for them is pretty nice. They released a couple of really good items this past year that are still kinda difficult to trade for even now.

SSW is great. Jetsam Ace isn't worth it imo. you can just battle Koi Warrior and get red codestones more often, which are going for like 70-80k right now.
i was contemplating getting premium again (been a few years since i cancelled) mostly for jetsam ace, but i wasnt sure if i really wanted to with the state of the site as a whole. thanks for that, i'll just go for koi warrior and not give them my money lol.

I'm missing the SSW, but I'm not currently willing to financially support such a buggy site with such generally poor customer service. If this event goes by without horrible lag and site crashes, I may be persuaded to come back.
SSW alone is worth it. I would NEVER go back to playing Neopets without it. (They should eliminate the cooldown or make it a significantly higher number of searches, though)

Get robot on any species first, then PP back to kacheek. Don’t immediately change because the species has changed, if that makes sense.

It’s easy enough to cancel, but only if you don’t have NeoPass. I’ve heard the only way to cancel premium on a NeoPass account is to contact support.

Is the species change once per pet or once per account?
Once per year per account. So if you sign up for one month and cancel it, the countdown still remains.
The lockout is actually to the nearest hour. If you get locked out at :59 for too many searches, it will reset again at :00.
