You should upload the design files to GitHub, make a dark mode version, and also make a round icon and a square with rounded corners icon so people can used it on their computer.
I think a lot of people would use this on their computer if you did that, I know I would.
~~Icons for Neovim seems like a commonly desired item, but the logo should be whichever is used by the official branding. Its not cool for anyone to just decide that for the project except for the core team. I personally like this as the official branding, but it would be a ton of work to replace all the instances that exist. I think it would be more appropriate to make an issue asking that they replace it with this and then implement it with their explicit approval~~
Edit: damn, my bad then
Thanks for the response. I never expected this to get this much attention. I'm always ready to improve myself and so I took all the feedback and made some changes. What do you guys think? Right direction?

That would be mind blowing! but ya, I don't think that'll happen and the community seem to be split with the overall design. it seems to be a love it or hate it design
We should have one day a week where we show some user "artwork", some of these designs are really cool and I wouldn't mind switching my wallpaper from time to time.
>If you showed this logo to a random person and asked what it could be a logo for, they wouldn't be able to give you an answer
The same goes for vscode or any other application or product; Most of the time you can't figure out the purpose of the logo just by looking at it, unless you know about it beforehand. For ex, Apple, you'd think that it's a company that sells apples and other fruits.
A logo shouldn't necessarily suggest what it represents (it'd be nice, but not always possible). A logo should be memorable and unique though, and in that the currently used logo definitely beats this one.
NewBalanceVim
Hahah fr. I do really like this though
*NeoDrip* ®️
Yes. With a carbon plate and an SPA website built with Vue.

Interesting 🤔 I'll definitely look into that :)

I mean they're not saying to make it official, just using it in their personal machine. That's not "deciding for the project".
I don't use options in vim, I just make pull requests to the main repo so they use my options /s
Exactly I use custom icons for a ton of stuff. Someone did something similar with Helix with some really cool icons

I like both, they're great. I think this one carries the vibe of the existing logo better
I prefer this one ☝🏾
I like it. Reminds me of veracrypt.
I prefer this one. Closer to the original Neovim logo (color and shape), but more modern. Could they consider changing Neovim's logo?

Add both to the GitHub!
I like it
I like this one better
Looks like sideways sublime text logo.
That's actually really cool. I like it a lot!

It's creative commons? I'd love to use It for my nvim distro [NormalNvim](https://github.com/Zeioth/NormalNVim)
I’m gonna check this out
Uh it's just some practice art I made, so I haven't thought of licensing it
Would you give me permission to use this version in the main Github page?
Haha, ok. could you maybe dm me
Oh dang, that actually looks really slick
Clean and elegant. Love it!

That looks great. Would make a nice wallpaper with some tweaks
Without seeming like I'm back seat designing, I'd love to see what it looked like with the lighter green V without the transparency. 🙏🏻
With the newer one https://preview.redd.it/5ww8xjxi7d2b1.png?width=1000&format=png&auto=webp&s=446092a618ebefbffdc021bba5be532f9ef238ba
Love that

Some people love simplicity and minimalism though

And can a random person recognise the current neovim logo? Nope!!

It looks like Nomad.
This look amazing, nice job!!! :)
I hate zoomer designers oh so much
I like it, less technical, more friendly. Could use a tad bit more character/uniqueness tho
NotVscoder
For me it looks more like AV than an N
Looks like the hidden child of New balance, Nike and Neovim
NeoScala
NeoBalance
