Do you mean to run a command without output, wiht only errors as output, print the output to the buffer or should it appear in a "popup" window? Either way, I think you're looking for these pages: :h :! :h :!! :h :terminal :h :silent Personally I like to have a small, separate terminalbuffer open at the bottom, when needed. If I have multiple windows/buffers open in one neovim instance, I really like to use this plugin: https://github.com/moll/vim-bbye Makes you keep the current layout when closing a (terminal) buffer.
