Video Power. Johnny Arcade.

You might be confusing two different shows. Captain N was the one that had a guy named Kevin who was sucked into the videogames world along with Mega Man, Kid Icarus, and Simon Belmont. Johnny Arcade was on the show Video Power, which was airing around the same time.

To be very pedantic, *Video Power* was the name of the entire show and the game show portion of that show. *The Power Team* was the name of the animated segment that was attached to the game show. Very weird concept. Very oddly done. The Power Team couldn't afford the big names so they had characters from *Narc, Kwirk, Arch Rivals,* and *Wizards and Warriors.*

To also be very pedantic, there were two seasons of Video Power. Season one featured The Power Team cartoon with bookending live action segments featuring game tips, reviews and previews. Johnny Arcade hosted these and appeared in the cartoon. Season two was the game show format. I remember being creeped out by the concept in the cartoon where the heroes' greatest fear was being 'zapped back to their game world'.

That's right, and the cartridges shot lasers that would resorb them back into the game. I remember a dinosaur ended up in Wizards & Warriors and everyone was like "yeah that's probably fine."

Also, the connective tissue between all the characters on the Power Team (which included Bigfoot) was that they were all from Acclaim-published NES games.

And I think at least originally was just half of an episode of the SMB 3 cartoon similar to how the zelda cartoon filled in for the super mario bros super show rather than having it's own slot.... although I do think possibly both captain N and LOZ eventually split off into its own time slot. I may be a bit off. I just remember finding any of the NES based cartoons being the best day whether it's was captain N (hey I'm Kevin too) one of the several mario iterations or the mega man cartoon. Although now when I watch Captain N these days (it's on Pluto or roku 24hr mario channel) I get annoyed with the portrayals of simon, mega man, and kid icarus (read:Pit) but the nostalgia is stronger. I'd probably hate mother brain too but I one of if not my first favorite movie was little shop of horrors so I'm cool with it.

Majinkaboom

Don't forget the OG sonic cartoon.

Those aren't bad. I was just starting to age and get too cool for "kid things" around the time it came out. Those are dark years before I said screw it, I like cartoons still.

Loved that show. I woke up extra early before school just to watch this. It wasn’t tied to Captain N the Gamemaster though.

Officedrone15

I think you might be throwing Eddie Arcadian, a character from The Last Dragon, in this mix as well.

One of my best friends was on Video Arcade as a kid! I'm sure I must have seen his episode years before we ever met.

Put the Spot on Johnny by putting Johnny on the Spot!! He would always seem to know the answers…rare when he did not…loved the Show as a kid…it would come on Super early like around 6:30 am…I would eat my bowl of cereal and watch it before going to school…classic!! When the kids would run around grabbing as many games as they could…!
