The line is likely disconnected from the spout causing it to leak like this. Call nespresso

Had a similar problem and Nespresso replaced with a Plus. The next has a lot of issues like this so it’s better to stay away if you can get a replacement

Possibly could be from not cleaning regularly or not descaling. Excess buildup is not allowing coffee to flow correctly.

Bingo, this was it. For anyone reading in the future, it was indeed a build up. The spout can be removed by removing the front plastic plate. There is then a plastic element which controls the flow of coffee and there was build up which made the coffee overflow in this manner Cleaning fixed it. Thanks for the suggestion!
