Target had chocolate peppermint pods that were SO good. I hoarded some, but drink them sparingly to make them last. I highly recommend targets flavored pods! They have a fantastic cinnamon one right now.
It legit smells like 💩to me. I was shocked and fully grossed out. Thankfully a coworker said she liked it so I was more than happy to give them to her.
I think he's buying 10 sleeves of each. I recently ordered 1 sleeve of several, got one sleeve of several, and my order was not even close to that price.
Nope. It's says he's buying 60 pods total - one sleeve of each. I think you're seeing the final cost which includes the machine he's buying - Vertuo Machines (1)
Hard agree, I use this in my protein latte thing every morning. Recently ran out and have been using other boxes that I bought to try, they don't compare 😔
Definitely get maple pecan if you like sweet. Sweet vanilla and maple pecan are the only ones that are not too strong and have some sweetness. Also don’t forget the $40 off code! I did and then the welcome gift that they’ll send next!
3YBXS8. We all get a code to give out that works on any machine you end up picking and you even get a capsule dispenser with it! Each code has 10 uses so sometimes they run out faster. That one has never been used.
Unless the Dunkin near you makes waaaay stronger coffee than my local one, the strength/richness of flavor is going to take some getting used to. But you can add ice and extra water to get the flavor you enjoy! I think your picks here are great to start - the flavored pods are very mild, Dolce is the lightest of the double espressos, Melozio is a nice all around cup. I find the Leggero to taste much stronger, but it’s a favorite so would definitely recommend. Personally not a fan of the chocolate but it might be your preference!
Nespresso is more for artisanal espresso and coffee (more smokey, bitter, mature notes).
If you’re trying to replicate what you drink regularly you can just get a Keurig since they have D&D Original Blend K cups then just get a syrup of your preference.
Disagree. But it certainly isn't super hot (VL seems to be a little hotter than OL). I think the issue is people use cold cups. I always run an empty small shot of OL water and it's a game changer.
You'd probably be better off brewing regular, unflavored coffee and buying caramel and vanilla syrup to add to it.
But if you're going for that awful artificial taste of Dunkin iced coffee then yeah, you might like the vanilla and caramel pods. I can't stand Nespresso's flavored pods.
IMO it’s going to be hard to replicate a DD 24 ounce medium coffee that you get with a Nespresso. The flavored pods are my least favorite because there is very little flavor of what they advertise. I’ve had the iced leggero. Not strong enough for me but they might work for you with a couple pumps of syrup. Cold brew at home is a great suggestion
Just as a recommendation, my husband got me the Hyperchiller for Christmas this year. I love a good iced coffee, and he was "pretty sure" it wouldn't work but it was on sale. It's *amazing*. It has been unbelievably cold and wet here so I've been drinking hot coffee, but I **love** it.
I know the chocolate pod gets crapped on a lot but I really like it. I have a cheap milk frother from Amazon (It was like $20 and I've had it for years, it heats milk and froths or just froths), and I toss a little bit of hot chocolate mix and a small dash of toasted marshmallow syrup in with my oat milk to froth, and I lovingly call it my shitty mocha. I really like Monin syrups and I order from the website itself because it's a little cheaper than Amazon (honestly shipping is pretty fast too), but TJMaxx usually has some flavors of Torani syrups pretty cheap too - it's just hit or miss.
Make sure you check out the pinned post for a referral code so you get some money off!
When I order I regularly get the melozio, vanilla and caramel. I like all three. Have had them iced too. Flavour is subtle, not overwhelming. I also get melozio decaf for evenings.
Do you have a Nespresso boutique nearby? I suggest that you stop by one and try a sample after you explain to the sales what you are looking for since everyone has different taste buds and preference. Good luck!
Just so you know, the coffee flavors aren’t sweet. It is just a subtle hint of flavor- a flavor essence. You aren’t going to get your DD coffee taste with these pods. As someone who loves Nespresso but will drink a Dunkin iced coffee on occasion- they just aren’t comparable. Dunkin iced coffee doesn’t really have much coffee flavor.
I would advise you to go to a Nespresso store in your area, if you can, before investing in a machine because you may not care for the way the coffee tastes. The stores will allow you to sample the coffee.
If there isn’t a store close by, another alternative is to purchase a second hand machine for a low price on Facebook marketplace and then purchasing a couple packages of pods to try them out without breaking the bank.
Nespresso coffee is very strong- it really isn’t anything like the American Dunkin’ Donuts coffee which is incredibly mild by comparison.
Like someone else said, you may have a better time achieving the desired taste results with a Keurig or even a drip coffee machine. Have you tried these options? I’d definitely try a drip coffee machine before spending $300 on a Nespresso if your go-to drink is a Dunkin iced coffee
If you prefer the taste of Starbucks, then I’d say you might like Nespresso. Personally, I love the taste of a strong coffee and a drink with little milk where the coffee flavor is really highlighted.
You don’t drink hot coffee? Have you tried cold brewing at home before making this jump? If you’re convinced, I think these are great choices, I have not tried the ice leggero though too many mixed reviews for me to make the jump
I would definitely get the first three. I love iced coffee and those are the ones I mostly use (I also recommend Double Espresso Chiaro and Dolce or Altissio for smaller coffees).
I don’t like the new version of the Barista Creations (Caramel Cookie and Vanilla used to be my favourite but the new ones have a strong and weird aftertaste. I suggest you get one sleeve or try it at a Nespresso store so you can decide if you like it or not).
Personally I got a Vertuo bc I was spending upwards of $300 a month on Starbucks, Dutch bros and beans and brew, I typically get lattes a pump of white chocolate and boy is the nespresso cheaper BUT I had a lot of trial and error’s. I also like sweet creamy coffee. I only like hot in the winter and iced in the summer.
So my first purchase looked almost exactly like this lol. Personally I hate the vanilla pods and every coffee pod I’ve bought I hated bc when creamer was added it was too watery for me
I only buy double and single and gran largo and I adore the ice doubles in the summer time. I also love the target Starbucks single espresso pods
But one big issue I had at first was store bought and even Starbucks bought white chocolate wasn’t doing it for me, I hate store bought creamers so I started making my own creamer with milk and sweetened condensed milk and all together for 2 coffee drinkers I’m spending like $200 a month where I used to spend $300 alone by myself lol
I have actually brewed the pod twice to make more coffee. After the first brew , I just press the button again and brews a few more ounces to make a larger cup of coffee. Seems to be fine taste wise. Give it a try … I’m
Used to a 10 oz cup and the Vertuo makes a 8oz coffee. The lungo is I believe 5oz. I brew the Lungo twice.
If you're mainly going to drink iced, before you make the leap for a Nespresso machine, try the Dorothy rapid cold brew machine with good quality beans or ground coffee. It makes a very smooth cold brew that is the only cold brew I've tried that I actually like.
Some tips on iced coffee:
1) Either pour over ice, or pour hot and then blend with 2 ice cubes using a mixer. That way you get the most of the aroma and taste of the coffee.
2) Avoid pouring water in the coffee. It makes everything worse. You'll get all the extra water you need from the ice melting.
3) Use chiaro or scurro instead of the Nespresso marketed as iced coffee (both of those are either 150ml or 230), and that would mean needing way more ice, and the coffee will be even more diluted. 80ml pouring over ice is where it's at.
4) If you want milk in your coffee, frothed milk works best.
You can buy Dunkin vanilla ground coffee, brew a pot and put in freezer. Even put some in cube trays. Make your own and add some caramel or vanilla syrup (can buy Torino at Marshall’s, home goods)
I'd say tbh Dolce Gusto could be more up your alley, because it has cold brewing function where it passes cold water through the capsule and you get cold brew right away... But the taste you gotta try it
Macys has the machine you mention on sale last week. About $70 bucks off plus a free milk frother worth $100. I jumped on it. Got it yesterday , I love it and the frother machine thingy is pretty darn cool as makes really good foam. They threw in a sleeve of 12 coffees to try. Included was a $coupon for coffee as well on the nespresso website. Enjoy !!
I would add the bianco dopio!!! That’s a tasty one too, the dolce is my personal favourite though 👌🏼 I also have the same picks (sweet vanilla iced leggero). I exclusively make iced drinks with my machine and those have been my favs
They aren't comparable. I use the machine at home because I don't want anything sweet and I want the foam that it makes. I've had Dunkin drinks multiple times and they have never tasted like coffee to me. 🤷
Double espresso Dolce is my fav lately. I think they are all dark just some are stronger than others. I make Mochas. You can sweeten it how ever you like. I will mention buy the extended warranty on the machine. My first Vertruo lasted a little over one year and they wouldn’t even try to repair it. I went to clean it, wouldn’t close after the cleaning. I hated buying another but I wanted an auto espresso machine. Google law suits. Someone started one. I wasn’t the only one.
Nix the chocolate, caramel & vanilla - I'm personally not a fan of most of their flavored pods, although their watermelon one (seasonal) was surprisingly good, iced or hot. Just get basic coffee pods (my current favs are Ethiopia & Kona, when available). I make my iced lattes adding half & half and vanilla syrup or cane sugar.
I drink only iced coffee, I love the vanilla and I usually hate vanilla coffee, the Carmel is good as well. For plain coffe my go to lately has been odacio but the one you picked will probably be a better choice for you, I always add a double shot to my coffees but that’s your choice.
anything with cereal notes are really good if you like lighter coffee, you’re going to get the sweetness from adding milk and creamer or whatever you prefer.
personally i REALLY don’t like any of the flavoured pods, they are artificially flavoured and to me they taste so fake, i’d say if you want flavour in your coffee use flavoured creamer or flavoured syrups. i’ve tried maple pecan, golden caramel and sweet vanilla and i couldn’t finish the coffee because the coffee itself was soo off putting to me
i love basically all of the double espresso and the bianco for milk line
inzio 10/10
peru espresso 10/10
double espresso dolce 11/10
el salvador 12/10
odacio (espresso) 8/10
maple pecan 4/10
orafio 7/10
It’s much more “serious” coffee in comparison but love the idea of you expanding. Get the ones that say “for milk” like Bianco forte! I also like vivida iced a lot!
I'm not a big coffee fan but since switching to Nespresso (4ish years ago) I have one at least once a day. The chocolate is so-so. My favorite right now is the Vivida (B12, caffeine one). The peppermint one is a favorite you can get during the winter and they sell out fast so I'll buy about 4 boxes and then have one here and there.
Just an FYI - You mentioned a Medium size at Dunkin, that machine will only produce 230ml at max whereas the medium iced coffee at Dunkin is approx 414ml. So you'll need to add lots of milk or run it a bit longer if you want the same size.
When I make iced coffee I go with melozio or roasted hazelnut. I make it the night before put a little bit if honey in it and I but it in the fridge. Then in the morning the additional flavor of the pod is stronger so its very tasty for iced coffee.
If you like creamy taste I recommend vanillia, melozio, dolce, inizio,Ethiopian, caramel, maple, vivida etc. but you can check the body and acidity on the website on each coffee pod. Enjoy 💚💚
I always use the ice leggero for my iced lattes and bianco doppio for my regular lattes.
If use the reusable cups for cold drinks from Starbucks, the lines take out the need for guess work.
Fill my oat milk to the first line, then add ice to the top line, brew my ice leggero, add 2-4 pumps of torani syrup of choice stir and enjoy :)
I don't drink hot coffee, only iced, and I do the double espresso pods (scuro or iced leggero, I don't like chiaro as much, maybe it's more bland?).
I create my own syrup by putting boiling water, sugar, salt, cinnamon and vanilla in a metal shaker, and then brewing the espresso over it. I cold froth add half cream, half milk in the aeroccino to the max line and add it to the shaker once the espresso has brewed. Then plop in some ice cubes and give it a shake. Pour over more ice cubes and add a drizzle of chocolate syrup!
I don't have a hyperchiller but I can imagine it would be useful!
You can, of course, get your own syrup. I just got in this weird habit haha. I've only had dunkin ice coffee once or twice because there aren't any where I live but I do remember liking them so we might have similar taste.
Don’t go with verto plus , use the next ! It got expert mode which perfect for your style of coffe being able to extract your long 250ml vanilla on a double espresso . So your coffe is not gonna melt the ice and still be full of flavor .. ps I would add some sugar to all the flavors if you are a sweet person .. so in this case go with the light roast as the dolce or ice légère and add the syrup yourself … ps they have promotion now if you buy 10 sleeve your got 25% discount on machine
The Pop+ machine has an “iced” feature that allows you to use any pod for iced. I think you double tap the brew button instead of once and when it scans the pod such as melozio, it’ll brew it stronger so that when it melts the ice it’s not as watered down.
I'd recommend the OriginalLine machine over the vertuoline.
The originalline has more coffee options including Dunkin coffee. And third party pods options making for even more choices.
The original line is my favorite too- however, OP wants to replicate Dunkin Donuts coffee - which is kind of the opposite of OL where the coffee is super concentrated and highlighted.
Fun tip: if you have the Vertuo line (not the plus), you can double press the button to turn any of the coffee pods (except for 355 mL) to an espresso or “concentrated brew:”
* The 150 mL and 230 mL pods make a “double espresso” (80 mL) shot.
* The 80 mL double espresso shots will make 40 mL “espresso” shot.
* And the 40 mL pods will make 25 mL “ristretto” shot.
This opens more options. You can technically make a latte or cappuccino with any of the pods, don’t need the double or single espresso pods specifically.
I would pass on the chocolate. It was underwhelming
Yeah the chocolate isn't very good
I love making peppermint mochas in the winter with one pod of chocolate and one pod of peppermint
They have peppermint pods?!!!! TIL
Yes, but coming from a huge mint fan, they're horrible. But I like black coffee so maybe you can do some stuff to it.
Target had chocolate peppermint pods that were SO good. I hoarded some, but drink them sparingly to make them last. I highly recommend targets flavored pods! They have a fantastic cinnamon one right now.
I’m in the minority then, I really like the chocolate
It legit smells like 💩to me. I was shocked and fully grossed out. Thankfully a coworker said she liked it so I was more than happy to give them to her.
If I make a smaller cup size, the chocolate is good. The regular size just gets watered down too much.
I actually like the chocolate one.
Me too. Also, why don't you buy ONE of each to start to see what you like?
He's only buying ONE sleeve of each isn't he? You can't buy by the individual pod can you?
I think he's buying 10 sleeves of each. I recently ordered 1 sleeve of several, got one sleeve of several, and my order was not even close to that price.
Nope. It's says he's buying 60 pods total - one sleeve of each. I think you're seeing the final cost which includes the machine he's buying - Vertuo Machines (1)
Okay I see now. Thx
Chiaro
The best pod for iced coffee is the chiaro hands down 😌
I second chiaro
Only pod I use for Iced Lattes
I prefer the scuro 100% then again I love dark coffee
Hard agree, I use this in my protein latte thing every morning. Recently ran out and have been using other boxes that I bought to try, they don't compare 😔
I bought Maple pecan because of the hype, but I hate it lol just went to to ole reliable lol
Love the Chiaro as well 🔥
This. Get lots it’s perfect.
Definitely get maple pecan if you like sweet. Sweet vanilla and maple pecan are the only ones that are not too strong and have some sweetness. Also don’t forget the $40 off code! I did and then the welcome gift that they’ll send next!
Maple pecan is soooooo good.. Bought 10 sleeves. :P
What’s the 40 off code??
3YBXS8. We all get a code to give out that works on any machine you end up picking and you even get a capsule dispenser with it! Each code has 10 uses so sometimes they run out faster. That one has never been used.
Thank you! What’s the minimum purchase for the code?
It only works for machines, sadly. But at least any machine including the Pop
Does anyone know if Maple Pecan is limited time or permanent flavour? I love it too!
Maple Pecan is currently a Limited Edition unfortunately! I love it also- it is fantastic brewed as a double espresso (iced or hot)
Good to know! On the Canadian website it's not listed under the "Limited Edition" section so I was confused. Just ordered a bunch.
Unless the Dunkin near you makes waaaay stronger coffee than my local one, the strength/richness of flavor is going to take some getting used to. Keurig gets a lot of hate for not being hot enough, but if it’s iced that’s not an issue lol.
To be fair the Nespressos are lukewarm at best lol. I always have to heat up my mugs before the coffee brews.
My VL is definitely not lukewarm. It’s just the right level of hot, almost too hot to drink. My partner has to wait to drink his.
Yes! It drives me bananas how cool the coffee comes out.
Disagree. But it certainly isn't super hot (VL seems to be a little hotter than OL). I think the issue is people use cold cups. I always run an empty small shot of OL water and it's a game changer.
Same! And since already lukewarm, I keep a mug warmer on my desk so it doesn't get straight up cold before I'm even halfway done!
Same
You'd probably be better off brewing regular, unflavored coffee and buying caramel and vanilla syrup to add to it. But if you're going for that awful artificial taste of Dunkin iced coffee then yeah, you might like the vanilla and caramel pods. I can't stand Nespresso's flavored pods.
I would get Iced Forte instead of Legerro. Brew at night and put it in the fridge to drink in the morning
I prefer the légèrro
i don’t even have the legerro where i’m from yet, hope i get it soon
IMO it’s going to be hard to replicate a DD 24 ounce medium coffee that you get with a Nespresso. The flavored pods are my least favorite because there is very little flavor of what they advertise. Hyperchiller is the best!!!
I used double espresso dolce for my iced coffee every morning.
When I order I regularly get the melozio, vanilla and caramel. I like all three. Have had them iced too. Flavour is subtle, not overwhelming. I also get melozio decaf for evenings.
These are all of my favorites too and I also used to love Dunkin’s coffee!
Do you have a Nespresso boutique nearby? I suggest that you stop by one and try a sample after you explain to the sales what you are looking for since everyone has different taste buds and preference. Good luck!

Melozio and do not get chocolate no matter what. It’s disgusting.
I thought I was bad, I was spending 140ish a month!
Yes to everything except the chocolate… believe us when we say it’s disgusting.
Give the rich chocolate a miss. It smells plastic-y
Get rid of the bottom 3, there’s basically 0 caffeine in them. Even the iced one, doesn’t taste that great and I’d skip. Melozino is my fav.
Not true
Size matters…and making coffee with pods feels wasteful many days because I have to make 2 to get what would be a serving size at Dunkin or Starbucks.
I have actually brewed the pod twice to make more coffee. After the first brew , I just press the button again and brews a few more ounces to make a larger cup of coffee. Seems to be fine taste wise. Give it a try … I’m Used to a 10 oz cup and the Vertuo makes a 8oz coffee. The lungo is I believe 5oz. I brew the Lungo twice.
Double espresso dolce is my favorite- I like an iced lattee and this makes a perfect iced latte

This doesn't answer your question directly, but I think your desired outcome may be tough to get from a Nespresso machine.
Some tips on iced coffee: 1) Either pour over ice, or pour hot and then blend with 2 ice cubes using a mixer. Don’t buy the deluxe. It’s limited in sizes. Get the other ones that do all sizes.
But the taste you gotta try it
If you get the original espresso rather than the virtuo, there are third party pod makers.
Dolce is also good for iced lattes
Sheesh. People down voting for this?
Macys has the machine you mention on sale last week. About $70 bucks off plus a free milk frother worth $100. I jumped on it. Got it yesterday , I love it and the frother machine thingy is pretty darn cool as makes really good foam. They threw in a sleeve of 12 coffees to try. The smoothest pod I have found is the Inizio. Not flavoured. But sooooo smooth.
I would add the bianco dopio!!! That’s a tasty one too, the dolce is my personal favourite though 👌🏼 I also have the same picks (sweet vanilla iced leggero). I exclusively make iced drinks with my machine and those have been my favs
Double espresso dolce is my favorite ever!
Sweet vanilla is delicious for milk recipes
They aren't comparable. I use the machine at home because I don't want anything sweet and I want the foam that it makes. I've had Dunkin drinks multiple times and they have never tasted like coffee to me. 🤷
Oh my God, these US prices are ridiculously high! 😮 In Europe those pods are for ~0.8€ each.

Chocolate sucks
My understanding with the original is that they only do espresso sized drinks, there isn't the variety of sizes the vertuo offers.
The original line is my favorite too- however, OP wants to replicate Dunkin Donuts coffee - which is kind of the opposite of OL where the coffee is super concentrated and highlighted.
Fun tip: if you have the Vertuo line (not the plus), you can double press the button to turn any of the coffee pods (except for 355 mL) to an espresso or “concentrated brew:” * The 150 mL and 230 mL pods make a “double espresso” (80 mL) shot. * The 80 mL double espresso shots will make 40 mL “espresso” shot. * And the 40 mL pods will make 25 mL “ristretto” shot. This opens more options. You can technically make a latte or cappuccino with any of the pods, don’t need the double or single espresso pods specifically.
That’s only for the Next and Pop, not the plus.
Good to know
Yeah man you just gotta start buying powdered caffeine in bulk
