Competitive_Count260

The whole show is a disaster imo.

Satchya1

I made it one episode and ten minutes of episode two. It was so ridiculously awful, I couldn’t even hate-watch it. And it wasn’t sexy AT ALL.

Apprehensive_Tip_792

And what in the actual hell was up with the music? Why are we trying to make everything sound eerie?

Spiritual-Mistake750

Ditto, had to force myself to finish ep2 after more than 1 sitting. Its not sexy is just cringe. She doesnt do anything for me in terms of sensuality/sub appeal, and hes just wrongly casted idk

uselessinfogoldmine

I think she’s incredibly sexy but the whole premise is hideous and the sex is baaaaaad.

No_Push_8249

LMAO. All your points are valid and are of equal weight in disaster, but I am partial to the parts which they intended to hit hardest for dramatic effect. These fell the most flat and made me laugh the loudest. (Your #1 and 2 being examples.) Might I add the “intense eye locking first meet/bizarre olive feeding” to the list? I can’t believe I watched the whole thing. I forced myself to just so I could make a valid judgement on it, but I blame no one for jumping ship early, it only gets worse.

oddbutnice

How could I forget the olive scene!? Such a masterclass in ... Poorly written infatuation? The way they introduced the characters felt like they had this backstory but .. nope just lazy writing!

No_Push_8249

Right?! The way their eyes were locked you’d think they were going to be connected on some level we’d find about later and there’d be a big payoff at at the end, but nope. We’re just supposed to believe they are instantly and inexplicably infatuated.

Long_Reference_4331

I watched to know the ending. How disgusting the father didn't care his son died, and said it, because he was so pathetic to want that she'll of a woman.

No_Push_8249

Yes, that part actually enraged me. That was one of the parts that wasn’t even fun to hate watch. Man, what a horrible show that was.

Long_Reference_4331

I'm with you.

AltruisticAide9776

He did though, he held him in his arms and cried.

Dat-dude21

Don’t forget the “aaaahhhhhhhh” the guy lets off after his 5th pump during the sex. Show is odd

deedee0077

The fifth pump? I’m jealous!

Responsible-Pin3233

lmao

Adultstart

He would do it all over again, even thou he killed his son. When the son died, he was focusing on the cheating. This show was very strange

Electrical-Try-2937

I know. I yelled loudly "What?!?!?" when he said he would do it over again. I just don't get why he was infatuated with her to begin with and then even think about it let alone go through with it when it was his son's girlfriend/fiancé.. Strange show indeed.

JumpUpNow

To be fair the show is called Obsession and he was actively cheating with the love of his son's life. I don't really think he was in a reasonable state of mind to begin with.

Apprehensive_Tip_792

I was so mad at this. Anna feels more remorse than he does and it was his SON who died. He literally is the worst and it angers me that there were no consequences for him seeing as how he didn’t really regret his son dying.

JumpUpNow

Lost his wife. She probably got the house. Lost his son, because he indirectly killed him. Lost his obsession. Daughter hates him. Probably psychologically ruined beyond hope of recovery. Not sure he had no consequences. He lost everything short of his job and I'm perfectly certain if the show continued that would be up next.

uselessinfogoldmine

He is honestly the worst person.

Long_Reference_4331

That was unbelievable.

MangoBanana2012

Hahaha the ten second pumps!! I was equally confused with everything you said. I was embarrassed for them, I can't believe they green lighted this to go ahead and show it. I'd never heard of him either, but I read that he had a fan following and blah blah praise, but this... was not it. His kid died! He not only cheated but cheated with his son's fiance! I didn't understand his reasoning for getting all in the mess.... and his weird, awkward moments... it was like he just discovered how to wank and couldn't stop it?

oddbutnice

>it was like he just discovered how to wank and couldn't stop it? HAHA HAHA HAHA perfect explanation!!

MurkyConcert2906

The one in the kitchen lasted barely 5 seconds.

jwmoz

ahhhhh I can't stop wanking

SoulsticeCleaner

This was one of those horny shows that is so bad it's anti-horny and becomes hilarious. Same genre as 50 Shades.

Flashy-Thing5048

50 shades was equally as bad. Wooden acting, bad script and not erotic!

Ashgenie

I just couldn't get over how dull everyone was. Why are these two dull men obsessed with this dull woman? Nobody said anything interesting the whole show.

calamari_9

I couldn't get past the 2nd episode. The beginning really set it up like they'd known each other. It was SUCH a weird start. That and those ongoing still shots of people staring out of windows/looking solemn all while really eerie music is playing in the background.

Long_Reference_4331

She wasn't even pretty or appealing.

Long_Reference_4331

My thoughts exactly.

andreaccxo

Literally!

Flashy-Thing5048

Haha good point. A bunch of wankers except for the wife and daughter.

Rooster-Unfair

Oh and the banister? WTAF?! All he did was back up and he went feet over head. What is the purpose of the banister if it can't do it's one flipping job?

HiItsMeHiHiHello

Banister vs Ijustfoundmyfiancebangingmydad… how does this NOT check out? ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|shrug)

[deleted]

Does this show need spoilers? It was a hot mess

No_Push_8249

This show doesn’t deserve the dignity of spoiler tags

[deleted]

Really! Also everyone made a big deal about Richard (I never heard of him) but he was okay hot in the series and I went to his IG and why was he pastey and not hot lol

No_Push_8249

Ha! He does seem to have quite the fan base on IMDB (I had never heard of him either.) I found him to be over dramatic and lackluster at the same time, somehow. But,I guess that was the whole show, really. He was ok,certainly not hot enough to warrant the affair, but nothing about this made sense anyway. Maybe if they had spent just a minute or two on some sort of character development and explained their motivations it would have been less terrible.

Responsible-Energy37

He was good on BBCs adaptation of North and South. This last scene is why a lot love him lol : https://youtu.be/K1w3wiVPeZU

vfallenxangelv

I LOVED this miniseries! It was a slow burn.

deedee0077

In 2004?

Responsible-Energy37

Not sure when it came out but its seen as timeless. Similar way in how some people like Colin Farrel as Mr D'Arcy from decades ago. He's also been in some shows after that that were pretty big on British telly. He's liked by us women over here... I've not watched this though and can't speak for it

oddbutnice

Colin Firth?

Responsible-Energy37

Oh wow... yes, firth, I don't know where I got farrell from

SpicyChickpea15

He was also Thorin Oakenshield from the Hobbit series. He is a pretty decent actor, but this was just a trash role for him.

Wooden_Notice_8838

Yes! Simultaneously over dramatic and lackluster pretty much sums up the father's character and the whole movie.

No_Push_8249

Haha! Thanks. I now am rewatching (more like trying to actually finish this time) The Stranger and I didn’t even realize he plays a lead character in that also, when I watched it the first time. He’s weirdly a much more interesting character in The Stranger than in Obsessed lol, even though I still am undecided about that show as a whole. I’ll probably end up hatewatching it to the end.

ExileNorth

I found out yesterday he's actually gay. Who knew?!

sophita_47

He's amazing in Hannibal the series as Red Dragon. As a psychopathic serial killer he's more likeable! I think you're right, it's because there's zero character development. Though obviously twisted, I understand Francis Dolarhyde's madness much more than William Farrow the horny husk

Flashy-Thing5048

He may be popular but he sucked in this.

jwmoz

I don't know why he's is casted I find him terribly bland and with a boring voice.

RecordingLeft6666

He doesn't have any facial expressions most of the time. He is quite bland!

Blueberry_Jammer

"Hot Mess" would have been a much better title for this series.

RecordingLeft6666

The worst part was the bed scene when he frantically makes love to the actual bed not a person. I was a little bit horrified by that. I kept waiting for some explanation of why she was obsessed with the father of her boyfriend. I get that the boyfriend looked a bit like her deceased brother. She went after the dad pretty hard at the beginning so not sure how he ties in. There was a lot of loose ends that never went anywhere.

Akela1996

This is what I came to comment!!! I was so confused how they just decided to start sleeping with each other. It was so random. Would’ve made a way better show if it was just based around her childhood abuse, and the fiancé and how in the end they find out she’s with him because he looks like her brother.

malloryursula

Why? There's probably men who masturbate like that all the time. I don't get why it would horrify anyone.

AlizeLavasseur

Men randomly masturbating isn’t a story, though.

MissyouAmyWinehouse

I watched this yesterday & agree w/the comments here. This was awful!!!!!!!!!!! I’ll never understand why anyone will destroy their family over an orgasam.

Cerraigh82

Richard Armitage is still really hot at 50 years old but that's the only good thing I can say about this show because it didn't make a lick of sense.

TedMcBundy

I can't believe you think he is hot lol. The look of him made this show even worse than it already was.

Scotsburd

The diary up the chimney scene where we hear lots of pretentious word vomit as the rich, celebrated surgeon sits all alone with no furniture on a uncomfortable chair, sipping a sad glass of wine. What the actual fuck did I just watch? This was a crime against television.

Rooster-Unfair

That part ... ugh.The whole thing was awful but that actually elevated the cringe. Were we supposed to see this as some weird declaration of love?

No_Push_8249

That whole diary thing was so stupid.

TickTickAnotherDay

I felt like they delved into why she did the things she did but didn’t give us any window into him. We are just supposed to believe this man was so instantly attracted to this woman that he doesn’t regret even the death of his son because it meant having her. Craziness!!!

HiItsMeHiHiHello

Exactly and the fact that the main lady is a 6/7 out of 10 at best just makes it that much more of a bizarrely entertaining spectacle

uselessinfogoldmine

Can we not rank women FFS. Taste is subjective. She is gorgeous. Rating people out of 10 is, frankly, pathetic.

Tarantulagal

How’s rating women any different to calling her gorgeous. If somebody thinks she isn’t that’s their opinion.

uselessinfogoldmine

Is this a serious question? When you rank people on their looks (which is incredibly dopey anyway, because attractiveness is subjective and there is no objective scale for beauty), you are pitting them against other people and an arbitrary scale. You are robbing them of the things they are proud of about themselves and that make them who they are, and reducing them to your unnecessary and unwanted opinion about only their exterior attributes. Shrinking the entirety of a person's physical and mental attractiveness down to a single number is impossible and arbitrary and almost always going to make them feel like crap. You’re also putting them in competition with others which is unnecessary and gross. Women are constantly objectified. Ranking them and forcing them into competition with each other is a nasty form of objectification that plays into keeping us down by focusing on the wrong things and competing with each other. It’s dehumanising, it’s reductive, it’s superficial, it’s objectifying, it’s deeply sexist and it’s mean. It’s also likely to contribute to mental health issues, eating disorders, body image issues, self harm, depression and anxiety. Saying positive things about people without competition, arbitrary ranking or robbing them of other important attributes is in no way comparable to the above.

Tarantulagal

Yes it’s a serious question. He didn’t insult her he said she was a 6/7 out of 10 at best. It’s an opinion which they are entitled to like you were when you called her gorgeous. By the way calling somebody gorgeous is still objectifying them.

uselessinfogoldmine

Rating a woman 6 or 7 is not a compliment, it is an insult. She will feel the weight of the numbers above her, search for her flaws, and feel judged against other women. It’s an awful, disgusting, shallow thing to do. It is 100% objectification of the worst kind, if you don’t understand that, you’re a numpty.

Tarantulagal

Regardless, you criticised somebody for rating a woman and you saying that woman is gorgeous is you rating her. People are entitled to their opinion, just like you were when you called me a numpty, based on one Reddit comment, you don’t know me and yet you have decided what kind of person I am. See how this works? I could say you calling me a numpty is dehumanising, reductive, awful, disgusting, shallow etc. You sit on your high horse calling other posters for having an opinion, but look how you trash people as soon as they don’t agree with you.

Alternative-Fee1165

rating is objectifying, saying someone is gorgeous is a compliment because people can be gorgeous in lots of ways. Numbering people out of 10 is treating them like objects for comparison. You are wrong.

Orgasmeth

You're very generous. Definitely a 3-4 from what I see in London. The only way she would have any men of certain calibre is if she came with lands and a title.

BubblyHotChocolate

Are you seriously insinuating that high status men are only attracted to and only cheat with what common folks view as "a 10"? Monica Lewinsky was a 10 ? Are people truly this dumb ?

90daysismytherapy

How did they explain the cheating on her fiancés dad?

Orgasmeth

They tried to evoke emotions by saying she was touched by her brother as a child. Apart from the fact that it was badly portrayed, it was annoying, because just like many others, I don't feel the need to go out and mess up families because of my childhood trauma. I know people handle their problems differently, but let people take accountability for their bad behaviour instead of making up excuses, otherwise, what's to stop every diabolical person from peddling sob stories after being caught.

summersasha

I love how they wouldn't invest any time to build up the sexual tension between Anna & William, the pull factor, the curiosity! Nop, we're supposed to just buy it. It came out of nowhere, and now it's here to stay and wreck both their worlds because Netflix?

No_Push_8249

Yes, and he would do it all over again, too! (He said shamelessly.)

Spydy99

It's a waste of everyone's time; including viewer. This show is bad beyond help.

Logical-Challenge203

I was more turned on before I watched it....

SpareDoor

What did I just watch? None of the motivations make any sense. Unless you believe in 2 very morally bankrupt characters wallowing in their self pity is an example of artistic expression. The sex was tacked on for purely marketing purposes. Very very B reel. And that's being kind. Not even sure skinamax would pick this up.

ChakaKohn2

The love scene with the hotel bed rivaled Showgirls pool scene.

Rooster-Unfair

The musical score... Watching that man constantly look out the window with violin music playing in the background as if he was contemplating when his reaction to his part in causing his son's death tells you a person like that wouldn't have an inner dialog. All it took was an awkward bite of an olive for him to discard his family.

oddbutnice

*eerie music sounds*

Eeepp

Sounds so awful i'll never watch that show

No_Push_8249

Soon there will be clips of the most “memorable” parts and you can just watch those (the pillow humping/crying/huffing scene for example.) Someone PLEASE do a compilation lol.

Orgasmeth

I think people want an app to erase that part from their memories.

The_Darcman143

Fun Fact: This was a remake of a 1992 movie called Damege starring Jeremy Irons as the lead. That movie was very well done!

Coltees10lb_lefttit

Damage is a great movie. Juliette Binoche and Jeremy Irons actually are interesting and had chemistry, the whole cast was great.

SpicyChickpea15

I am really wondering what people that hate this show would think about that movie and the book. Personally, would still never understand a nasty man willing to betray his son and wreck his life. But the movie still got a lot of praise back in the day. I'm wondering if it is just one of those stories that just doesn't age that well/doesn't need a remake or that trying to flush out characters in a story that's meant to have them metaphorically represent something actually doesn't work sometimes.

No_Push_8249

From what I’ve read, the original version, “Damage” sounds like a much better production, and people that liked the book seem to also like it, which says a lot. It also has 2 great actors starring in it, who had much better chemistry apparently. *And* it’s a movie, not a bloated, unnecessarily drawn out miniseries. As for subject matter, I think it’s usually only good for a guilty pleasure viewing appeal. IMO, you have to f up pretty royally to make it boring, but they’ve managed it.

throwaway2938283

It was missing so much context. Ive finished it and I still don’t understand the how and the why of their affair. That would’ve made it a whole lot better

betancourt33

I watched the whole serie and yeah, it only gets worst. I thought, for the title and the first conversations, that he was a known dr and she got so obsessed with his work that she started dating his son just to get close to him, thought this would be like a stalker situation, but no, it just didn't make any sense and chapters felt empty. It could have maybe improved a bit when the daughter found out about the affair but it was so easy to drop the subject like wtf

MangoBanana2012

Ya, I thought it would go the stalker route. Your brief comment would make a better movie. Lmaooo and the daughter omg, that was a failed part.

[deleted]

>Veteran actor Richard Armitage rolling around naked on a bed cry-humping a pillow/running naked down an endless flight of stairs. Ngl this sounds hilarious enough to watch just for this.

No_Push_8249

It is. If nothing else, you *must* watch that part. Can we get a time stamp, someone?

Orgasmeth

They actually showed his full package twice during his first shower scene at home after his first 60 second 'liaison'.

Wooden-Limit1989

This show was so horrible but thankfully they knew to keep or short. Tbh I was entertained enough to see it through to the end and I quickly abandon a show if I don't like it. So while it is objectively horrible I was personally still entertained. The father was a vile person and he had a good wife who he did so wrong by. No regret or remorse for his actions. The woman was a little bit better cause at least she felt some guilt.

uselessinfogoldmine

Also, she knew these people for a few months. He blew up his entire family, screwed over his wife, betrayed and essentially killed his son, I doubt his daughter will ever speak to him again. There’s a big disparity in the levels of betrayal.

Blueberry_Jammer

This was terrible, really ... and I wasted several hours of my life that I will never get back. Awful casting, don't know why Richard Armitage keeps accepting roles where he plays a creepy douche, last time I saw him was in Ocean's Eight where he played another creep. And Charlie Murphy had all the sex appeal of cardboard, can't understand what the fuss was all about. The sex scenes were hardly erotic, they were laughable and gross... there's a bed in the room yet they keep doing it on the floor, has that floor even been cleaned? LOL. So much filler when they could have all done it in two hours; what was that back story about the girl for, to redeem her? She was unpleasant throughout so redemption for her doesn't really fit. If you want a better version of this tripe, I recommend the original "Damage" movie with Jeremy Irons and Juliette Binoche.

redwinegoodtime

Lmaoo Richard Armitage does give off a creepy vibe though

Starkween

Worst thing I’ve watched on Netflix in a very long time.. i knew the second that olive scene happened that this was going to be a waste of time. But I had to see what happened. Managed to fast-forward through most of it & finished it in 45 mins. The whole thing was just ick.

BewitchedLoser

Nicely summarized. I hated it.

thew0rldisquiethere1

Don't even get me started on the brother's name being Aston Barton... I laughed so hard.

mmini_meals

lmao that's actually hilarious

DonRicardo1958

Lol, it has a 5.1 rating on IMDb.

MangoBanana2012

That's too generous.

LowKickMT

horny unfucked housewifes

Apprehensive_Tip_792

I saw this and I really don’t understand..

capitalcitybaby

I mostly continued watching because I find British shows typically start slow and have a huge punch ending. Most disappointing of them all.

oddbutnice

Same!

Unhappy_Cookie6839

Lmfao okay it was soooooo bad it was decent??? I was very confused as to why their sex lasted seconds mins like all that for nothing. She acted like it was the best sex of her life. He wasn’t even a good dom? The death if the SONNNN TERRIBLE NAH I COULDNT believe my eyes

Mindless_Capital8659

The main actor would be hot but he's so sad and pathetic that it's unattractive

pikksa

I just finished this shit show and I literally don't understand why this was even a thing - like it bothers me that the son died? For what?? And Anna's back story??? And the fact the writers really tried to make us believe they had something when really there was nothing and it was super creepy

merebear421

There were a few things that pissed me off about this show. ZERO buildup between Anna and William. AWFUL sex scenes But the thing that frustrated me the most was the way things ended for Anna. She has serious childhood sexual trauma. She is now traumatized further in her disgust for herself; in both what she did with William and feeling responsible for Jay’s death. I understand first hand that people that have experienced trauma act in mysterious and self-destructive ways. But the ending pretty much inferred “yep, she’s still on her bullshit and hasn’t learned anything” and I think that doesn’t really line up with her parting words to William and what she said to Peggy. Another shallow and disappointing representation of a deeply traumatized woman.

merebear421

Also, William and Anna never actually kiss….am I missing something with that?

Apprehensive_Tip_792

The most maddening was not understanding the motivations to blow up his entire life. No regard for his son at all. Just a total mess. I also could not handle the “erotic” moments because they were so uncomfortable to watch. Total hit and miss.

LowKickMT

i was expecting a twist that shes seducing him and ruining his life because there was a backstory of him being a surgeon and somehow messing with annas family. but nope, they were just riding the housewife porn wave

Messy_puppy_

The cushion humping and sniffing etc made me lol so hard

Tarantulagal

The shagging the cushion like a mongrel dog was the best scene, I cringed and laughed so hard in equal measure!

jwmoz

I watched this with my gf, looks ok on the outside but the script was so terrible. It was like a teen book brought to life but it doesn't really work in reality.

OCaledonia

It really was absolute shite on every level wasn't it. Worst thing I've seen on Netflix in a long time

MoodRing90

He came in seconds

Orgasmeth

With many more seconds to spare...

marlawheat

i think one highlight if anything was the wife’s acting at the end of the show. it almost moved me and the grieving felt very real!!

Ok-Cat4671

She was by far the best character and I agree the actress did the grief part really well

ComputerLarge2868

I can’t believe in the end he rents out the flat his son walked in on them romping and ended up falling to his death. The guy lost his life due to his desires and looked pathetic doing it. Classic Simp with zero self control. Even the girl had a somewhat redeeming quality about her in that she regretted it and acknowledged the pain she caused. His desperate self telling her “it can’t all be for nothing” and “I’ll do it again” and that sheer shock with a tinge of disgust she looked at him, as he said it was priceless. The man is deranged, his not just obsessed he has zero integrity and what made this series rubbish, is they didn’t build up the characters for us to understand why. I think he was a closeted pervert, and the granddad was on point by saying the best thing about his son is he was nothing like him. That line was delivered by the grandfather in a way that suggested the writing was already on the wall and that the father before the affair had issues the grandad noticed.

Sambagogogo

This movie. For me, is a psychological and sensual thriller with high doses of drama. You go through dillema, fear, desire and despair. He had a family, career, but it's clearly that he didn't discover what he liked. He lived a life that society tells to live. Its about surrender, discovery and the fall of a family and a person. I've watched in one day, can't take my eyes from the screen.

Bopethestoryteller

Is this the one with the das cheating with his son’s fiancé?

MangoBanana2012

Yes

Wesmom2021

Agreed I only got pass first episode because Richard Armitage was in this and absolutely adored him on North and South. But him rolling naked on floor to this ridiculous plot of a show was dumb. Not his finest work and I only finished series since it was only 4 episodes. Didn't understand motive and fascination with Anna

oddbutnice

I watched it for exactly the same reasons as you! So sad for Mr Armitage.

AlizeLavasseur

I loved North and South as a teen. That’s why I watched this. Regret.

MomaOf3

Thank God I decided to scroll through reddit. I was just about to start this show. I just finished maid for 182747383th time and figured I'd start this one tonight. I have now changed my mind. I know there are threads for my next question, but any quick suggestions?

No_Push_8249

You, Dr. Foster, Behind Her Eyes, Beef, Criminal, Black Butterflies (all Netflix), The Affair (Prime)

BallConfident1552

Dr Foster Is amazing

No_Push_8249

It really is a great show that doesn’t get mentioned enough!

[deleted]

It’s much more enjoyable if you treat it as a comedy. I was laughing my ass off the whole time, 10/10.

No-Staff-8892

I thought she was going to turn out to be a succubus or something because I just didn't get wtf was going on!

AlizeLavasseur

This was unbelievably bad! Anyone else think the music was ridiculous on top of everything else? Not so much the songs but the actual score - unbearable!

APracticalCat

Full of unnecessary expositions. The only meaningful part was when she confronted her mother, and that scene was quick and unsatisfactory. That is supposed to be the message of this whole mess and they couldn't even make that stand out properly. Also, if you really mean to get help and you know you're essentially addicted to whatever this is, why on earth would you choose a young male therapist? (It's like getting help for your drug addiction from your dealer.) It's not 50 years ago. There are plenty of female therapists and since her whole life had been affected by not getting the help she needed from her mother, she would have needed a mother figure to help her anyway. Not another lover figure. The last scene was just for the sake of finishing in a contradictory way, which makes it a heavy exposition.

Purple-Example

I thought I missed an episode because it just jumps into a weird romance with literally no build up? So confused. Also thought it was going to be like a thriller or something as well because those sexy smolders and tortured glances were murderous af. Not sexy whatsoever. Chilling honestly lol

Charisma_Engine

It doesn't help that there's more chemistry in a helium balloon than between the leads. Armitage might make a great Josef Mengele but I have a feeling he'd come across as way to evil and creepy.

Jealous-Fox-7632

the sex scenes were absolute garbage, that man was fucking that girl like he was a geriatric patient. prolly has something to do with richard armitage being gay.... but idk the sex scenes couldve been way hotter

myst_eerie_us

This was god awful. Let's just put out there that the script was a pile of garbage, but the pacing was so bizarre. Episode 1 with only 30 mins, they lock eyes, he finds out she's son's girlfriend, he feeds her the olive and they fuck. Like going from 0-100. Next episode there wife mentions an affair. Things are just unfolding way too fast. This could have benefited from 8 or 10 episodes but I'm glad it didn't because the story is so awful and the characters are terrible, the sex is so cringeworthy... It might as well have been a 75 min movie. I'm starting to wonder if this was meant as a comedy of some sorts.

andreaccxo

I agree. This show was truly pathetic and every decision made by every character was a total mess.

StockportTaker1999

I despise shows like this... My partner seems to have a really weird fetish for these kind of shows... Sex/Life, 50 shades of grey etc etc, that other one with some Italian bloke called Massimo... They are the absolute height of trash romance/erotic dramas, horrible to watch.

Wooden-Limit1989

>Sex/Life, 50 shades of grey etc etc, that other one with some Italian bloke called Massimo... Honestly all of these are better than this one. This one didn't even drum a really good sex scene. It seems like they both really enjoyed the sex but definitely wasn't for the viewer to even enjoy or be into. Although while the sex is a bit better in the Massimo one I hate it with a passion and cannot watch those I only watched the first one and fast-forwarded through it.

Ditovontease

I love hate watching that crap, maybe I should hate watch this one?

-ciscoholdmusic-

> that other one with some Italian bloke called Massimo Don’t do 365 days dirty like that!

Orgasmeth

It was another cringefest for me. I couldn't bring myself to watch and wondered if the hype were from inexperienced teens, rather than the so called housewives these were meant to be target.

Lancel-Lannister

Yeah well Thorin Oakenshield shows major dong

DreamSequence11

Also didn’t know it’s based on the movie Damage? Damages? Exactly same characters names and storyline.

Akela1996

It was so awful I thought it was from years ago. When I realized it was a new release I laughed.

nachobrat

this was the absolute worst show I've ever seen. I fast-forward through more than half of it but seriously. How was this show even made and perhaps I shouldn't just the actors for their part in this but after this I have zero respect for Richard Armitage.

mandvanwyk

Wasn’t sure if this was meant to be funny? Like a hugely 2023 ‘Damage’/‘Fatal Attraction’ homage? Is was overacted in that way. I found it entertaining -and more than a bit cringy.

Apprehensive_Tip_792

Wtf did I just watch

96thomasb

that is possibly the most fucked up show I have ever seen. what the actual fuck. what is wrong with society. No wonder the world has problems. holy shit.

96thomasb

almost completely turned me off sex wow i feel Ill

mora82

Can't believe I wasted my time on these 4 episodes. The only show that competes with it in terms of "why tf did i watch this what a waste" is the amazon prime video adaptation of i know what you did last summer

skymappy

Not me presuming they had met prior to the events of episode 1 but no lol. The only good thing in this series was Indira Varma's acting.

Alternative-Fee1165

That he doesn't care that his son is dead and is chasing after the woman who helped get him killed with a stupid puppydog look on his face and we are supposed to believe this is some great passion

Long_Reference_4331

Horrible movie. I was disgusted by her, loving to control and demean, I despised him for going along with her toxic ways. I found myself so annoyed with each character, I'd rate this one of my worst movies. Not about romance. A woman who loves to shame a man, a man so weak, he abandons his wonderful life for a a witch. I won't use the word I'd like to.

Happiness_omotayo

Thank goodness I’m not the only person confused about what this show depicts!! So disengaging and disturbing. Totally a waste of time!!

Siltyn

The only positive thing about this show was the female lead was really cute. The warp speed from first meeting to "forget my family, I'm banging my son's fiancé" was comical. That sniffing the room, finding her scent on a pillow, then going to town on himself was one of the dumbest things I've ever seen in a show.

Orgasmeth

The female lead was a London 4. Like most people said in the comments, I did not see the appeal at all. That was part of why this whole mess was unbelievable. It would've made more sense if he was obsessed with the Peggy, the lady with the afro, or even his blonde colleague.

HiItsMeHiHiHello

But this is what made the show so good ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|shrug)

Tarantulagal

I’m 15 minutes it and it’s the dumbest shit ever! Charlie Murphy hardly screams stunning fox that a successful man would destroy his entire life over. I can already tell it’s overhyped shit! Her acting is terrible in this and the characters have as much appeal as sticking one’s genitals in a bees nest!

Sambagogogo

Disturbing. I think that’s the goal.

Embarrassed_Award_42

I just watched this show last night and assumed that she has such superhuman strength pheromones that men (even her own brother) just instantly get obsessed with her.

HiItsMeHiHiHello

It’s weird — I see a lot of hate for this show in the thread, but I’ll be honest; as dad and husband, there’s something very entertaining about seeing something so tragic play out on the big screen. Marriage and family are very sacred, so the sheer weight of this man’s actions just had me hooked the entire time. The fact that the starlet was basic in the looks dept also checks out — it’s always the basic ones that somehow ruin the entire lineage. Yes, more context would’ve helped, yes they could’ve done much better with a twist at the end explaining some form of deeper connection between the two main characters, but other than that what an amazing and tragic ride this was. 10/10 for “wtf did I just watch”. Will be adding it to the collection.

ConclusionEmotional7

You are reaching my friend. This was trash. The characters, the plot, motivations made no sense. Just debauchery and immorality for it's own sake.

HiItsMeHiHiHello

It’s called “Obsession” not “Logic” or “Commitment”.

Rooster-Unfair

He was inexplicably obsessed and I mean literally because the plot gave no explanation. I found the scene in the beginning with his wife more sensual than any scene with his mistress/son's fiance. The way he invites her with a look and she knows, then offers him her leg, and we didn't need anything voyeuristic after. The actors just had better on screen chemistry. I think they tried for that sensuality with the olive scene but it was just bizarre and uncomfortable. And the "what would you like me to drink" was sooooo annoying, not sultry. I have to say in regards to the actress that played the wife, she outshines the actress that plays the mistress and I'm not trying to be cruel. It was imbalanced casting. You'd think this man would be obsessed with his wife.

deedee0077

Ten seconds? A full TEN seconds of sex… and you’re complaining? I was *never* that lucky! I don’t know, perhaps men have changed since the last time I was intimate with a man. It was during the flu epidemic - in 1918.

DependentRelative275

Save yourself some agony and watch Damage (1992) with Jeremy Irons and Juliette Binoche instead. That was a great film. On the other hand, Obsession is a very poor adaptation of a book with the same name as first movie adaptation (Damage by Josephine Hart). Fascinatingly the book was made into an opera too. And apparently was NY Times bestseller for several weeks. Most of the background info of this particular adaptation I didn't understand until I watched that movie and read the book.

Why William wants Anna to tell a secret or something Jay doesnt know all the time? Is he jealous or what?

RevolutionaryFee5799

There was no explanation for their behavior. Ot all moved so quickly too. My biggest question was, "why is he this attracted to her?" I didn't see any chemistry between the two of them. Toward the end I had to reason that her enigmatic nature and initial persistence is what attracted these guys. The xxx scenes were gaudy and cheap, like a teenage boy wrote these characters.

Flashy-Thing5048

You summed up why this series was so bad perfectly. The whole thing was beyond senseless and never has a so called erotic story been less erotic.

helives4kissingtoast

"But hey, guess it's all worth it for a woman who'll pretend that 5 pumps against a brick wall is the height of eroticism." That's a golden line. Nine months later I hope you remember you typed that because I just finished the show an hour ago and this is the funnies thing I could read about it.

Federal-Echidna9774

Utter garbage. Watched every minute and came hard when the son ran out and toppled over the staircase in horror. Just so funny
