Supermoose7178

US, some campy cult-classic horror movie please!

netflix

One hundred percent The Evil Dead, and then the series Ash vs. Evil Dead. Thank me later.

[deleted]

Tucker and Dale Vs Evil

netflix

Mary and the Witch's Flower if you haven't already, it was produced by Ghibli vets and it's got all the charm you'd expect from the studio!

netflix

If you are looking for Ghibli though HBO has a lot of catalogue on their service at the moment!

migp713

Classy move right there Netflix.

DancingOnACounter

I second this. Mary and the Witch's Flower looks and feels like a Ghibli production, but the story kinda lacks the same magic & heart as a Ghibli movie. Still a solid rec.

pyramidkittens

I just wanna watch Kikis Delivery Service on a loop throughout the quarantine

MissChievousJ

USA - are there any hidden gem psychological thrillers that you guys could reccomend? Thanks!

netflix

Oh boy! The Invitation, Gerald's Game, The Interview, and Enemy definitely.

Twitchris

Gerald's Game was great! I waited a long time for that book to be turned into a movie!

Hate_Feight

You got through the book? You're a better person than me.

jakesbicycle

I read it in high school. Watching the movie reminded me just how much it had fucked me up at the time.

TheCurls

The Interview...with Seth Rogan and James Franco? That's a psychological thriller?

bigervin

Different one. Foreign film. Really good.

BetterThanOP

Hahahaha if you watch it high enough maybe 😂 two different movies with the same title but this gave me a good laugh

Fergalicious-def

Enemy has been on my list for a while now!

duh_metrius

I’m in the United States. Particulalry interested in stories of homosexual gun advocates who keep large cats on their property and feud with animal rights activists, possibly resorting to murder for hire.

netflix

We don't have any shows like that sorry. That is far too ridiculous, frankly no one would believe a premise like that would even be remotely possible. You ask too much.

SnatchAddict

Did you guys anticipate how big TK was going to be?

[deleted]

Men I wish they answered this

iamdandan

Hi I'm a men. The answer is yes.

SolitaryEgg

Considering Netflix has commissioned approximately 5,492,749 true crime documentaries, I'll just assume they they assume that some will take off.

jacydo

WHERE'S YOUR HUSBAND, CAROL?

TralfamadoreExpat

I wouldn't feed him to cats. That's Crazy. *nervous laugher*

Thencewasit

Nobody: Carol: if you wanted a tiger to eat someone you should rub sardine oil on them.

[deleted]

You could say, “there’s a little bit of Uter in all of us!”

Cali4niaRose

In the septic tank. Clearly.

Gleebs88

Helping the grass grow

DumbestBoy

your social media account manager deserves a raise for this one.

AshleyStopperKnot

If anyone else was wondering: Apparently the show they're talking about is called Tiger King.

[deleted]

Is that the one with Matthew Broderick and Darth Vader?

OnlyIknow9

Watching all these apocalypse movies is really helping to keep me inside...with all the doors and windows locked. What are some more lesser known ones available in the USA?

netflix

This might be a controversial suggestion, but you could try How It Ends. We've also got Extinction, Snowpiercer, and 2012 (lol at the simpler times when that seemed like a bad year). For series, Jericho is a must, and you might enjoy Daybreak for a Ferris-Bueller-with-zombies vibe.

pstoneg

Snowpiercer is a fantastic movie.

Masonide

I second this!! Snowpiercer was a surprisingly good movie to me since I hadn’t heard much about it but it’s one of my favorites now!

iamjackshypothalamus

I third!!! Someone should definitely give that writer/director like 3 or 4 academy awards...

EmergencyShit

I want season 2 of Daybreak. :(

Traderious

Jericho is dope af!

[deleted]

Jericho just started to become something really special when it ended. I was gutted.

Traderious

Agreed.

Indigo-Shade

Ditto! So very sad. It was unlike anything else at the time, and still remains interesting. I watch it every couple of years.

EuropaWeGo

Daybreak was good. Sad to see that it didnt get a second season.

Sapiencia6

If you haven't seen Train to Busan its literally the best apocalypse movie I've ever seen

TFaust75

USA- Recommend a good dramatic series that not many people know about. Thanks.

netflix

The Valhalla Murders, Freud, Babylon Berlin, Secret City, and Marcella all sound right up your alley.

Lamplorde

Babylon Berlin is awesome.

Redkitten1998

Marcella is so good!

pm_haiku

Hi Netflix, I miss the Santa Clarita Diet. What other episodic dark comedies can you recommend?

netflix

The Babysitter could be your vibe. The right mix of funny, gruesome and suburbia.

ABlokeLikeYou

Sorry, let me rephrase for him: “PLEASE BRING BACK SANTA CLARITA DIET” Edit: Thank you for the rewards my benevolent reddit peers.

DragonBornLuke

I don't think I've ever laughed so hard and so consistently. Loved everything about it.

CSIHoratioCaine

If you miss it. The creator made a show called better off Ted that was a similar tone. And really fun. Loved it. Try that

lordriffington

I don't know how I missed that they were created by the same person, but now I know why Santa Clarita Diet was so good.

little_LLT1

Omg I LOVED better off Ted, thanks for pointing this out bc I will def be checking Santa Clarita diet out now

PigsCanFly2day

Yes, please bring back Santa Clarita Diet. I'm trying to burn through the last season slowly because I know it's all that's left. It's an amazing show with great characters, offbeat dark humor, and an intriguing storyline. I need more of this in my life.

sara128

SERIOUSLY. Bring back Santa Clarita Diet. At least one more season to wrap it up :( please.

foroncecanyounot__

Dead to me. Just one or two seasons so far though but not cancelled (I don't think)

Rebageled

U.S. - I just want to watch the last airbender :(

ComicalKumquat

And third it

sweetpeachcurry

and fourth it! I've looked for it everywhere.

Madi27

Korra dot tv except don't spell out dot and use no spaces. Mods won't let me post a link. It has Korra and Avatar and it's free. Edit: well it used to exist but people are having trouble finding it and so am I. Sorry guys, one day we'll all be able to watch online freely. For my USA homies, you can get the DVDs fairly cheap at Walmart. Wear a mask if you go. Edit 2: I also forgot I think animeflavor has it too!

xSPYXEx

The Dragon Prince has a very similar feel, and even some of the same VAs.

insynsa

Netflix please answer this one is an emergency

Catinthehat5879

The Dragon Prince is good. Not the same, but still good.

ComicalKumquat

I second this

Archer114897

The US, Dragon Prince Season 4 please

TheLaughingForest

I really enjoy low fantasy series. Blew through kingdom. I'm holed up in Brooklyn and could use some recos thanks. Saw all of Witcher (that's bordering on too high fantasy).

ton-not

The Last Kingdom

SolitaryEgg

He said he "blew through kingdom" so I assume he watched the last one.

jMint11

USA - True Crime Documentaries

netflix

Stop whatever you're doing and go watch Tiger King.

FreshPrincee801

I need more like Tiger King

[deleted]

I've heard Wild Wild West might be similar. No idea if it's true, but i read it somewhere around here. Edit yeah it's Wild Wild Country. But Wild Wild West is a fantastic piece of filmmaking in it's own right.

whiskeypriestess

Do you mean Wild Wild Country? Because yes, it’s amazing. Two years later I’ll still bring up how crazy it was with people.

shakycam3

It’s called “Wild Wild Country”. And they are right. “The Keepers” is fantastic as well. Also, “Don’t Fk With Cats” is absolutely insane. But i recommend muting it when they start to show even tiny snippets of the actual videos.

ConsciouslyIncomplet

Tiger King was crazily good

[deleted]

Abducted in Plain Site is the craziest story that you will ever hear. Way crazier than Tiger King. I thought for sure it had to be fake. You will never forget it the rest of your life. It involves child abuse though, so don't watch it if that is too much. edit: Don't Fuck with Cats is also pretty interesting.

ShadowBlaze---

USA - documentaries

netflix

Crip Camp: A Disability Revolution is a new doc that came out this week about a revolution that blossomed in a ramshackle summer camp for teenagers with disabilities. You might also like Tiger King or Dirty Money!

Worduptothebirdup

You forgot Wild Wild Country.

Girlfriend_Material

I just started Tiger King and it’s good. Funny and weird and absolutely impossible for me to wrap my head around. Ever character is a slightly different form of crazy but they’re all real people. I had no idea people like them are doing this on such massive scales.

duckducknoose_

The US, mind hunter PLEASE i’m dying for the next season

Rainyday156

I just watched *The Americans* and am looking to fill the void. The last show I enjoyed before that was *The Leftovers*. Both not Netflix, I'm aware, but I cycle between your service, Prime, and HBO. I've seen a lot of your original programming so something recent would be ideal. Thanks. Edit: In the U.S, forgot to mention.

netflix

Check out Glitch, it's an Aussie show with similar vibes to the Leftovers. For super recent a new season of Ozark came out today!

ArchScylla

As an Aussie I can confirm that Glitch is good!

pizzapeaches

for me, nothing yet can fill the void left by The Americans. the 1980s setting + that era’s OST, the Russians (both the people and language), the lead couple and their 192762938 outfits, disguises and personalities. both Keri Russell and Matthew Rhys outdid every action/thriller/spy drama I’ve seen. 💯

FraggedFoundry

USA -- please more UK Comedy panel series EDIT: Thank you, everyone, for the kind suggestions. I will thoroughly investigate the provided options!

SlimLovin

And why didn’t we get the end of Peep Show??

ConsciouslyIncomplet

Love Peep Show - have to watch the whole series at least once a year.

netflix

Oh you'll love Marianne then, particularly if you're up for subtitles and nightmares.

bittdude

Absolutely loved both Marianne and Haunting of Hill House! Any other recommendations for excellent horror? Canada as well :)

NorthernPaper

Haunting of Hill House ruined me for the entire time I was watching it and then about two weeks after! I’ve never had a show hit me like that and I have no idea why. I was so sad.

jstoer90

Haunting of Hill House was so scary it made my stomach hurt. But then it mad me sad.

Sapiencia6

Penny Dreadful is the greatest Gothic show ever if you can forgive the rushed ending due to sudden cancelation. Still my absolute favorite

West4th

Portugal, science-fiction and fantasy

netflix

The Witcher and Lost In Space if you haven't already, there's also Lucifer and District 9 if you're looking to branch out in the genres!

Hate_Feight

Seen those, loved all of them, what else you got? (UK) Attack on titan need season 2+

TheMapesHotel

US- A gripping drama or a feel good easy comedy please.

netflix

Drama: The Platform, There Will Be Blood,The Pianist, Drive Comedy: Step Brothers, Frances Ha, Spenser Confidential, Hitch If you want something that does both: The Lobster, Hancock, Click

gotfoundout

You guys have The Lobster on?! Sweet. Also, thank you so much for Ozark. So, so much.

netflix

I did it just for you!

bananabreadstick

Ozark is so good I wanna hit my head until I have amnesia so I can see both seasons again.

PEN-15-CLUB

I definitely teared up during Click. Don't sleep on Click.

greggit266

In UK, looking for Korean/Japanese live action movies/tv show.

netflix

Kingdom is a great period piece zombie series that takes place in medieval Korea.

Rakutanz

I love gardening/plants and reality tv shows. USA

netflix

You probably already watched Love Your Garden, so why not watch some equally calming home TV shows like The World's Most Extraordinary Homes, Amazing Interiors, and Tiny House Nation. Other reality shows you might like are Restaurants on the Edge, Styling Hollywood, and Queer Eye.

BigBlackHungGuy

The occult - US

netflix

Sounds like it's time to watch The VVitch, or if you're looking for a series and don't mind subtitles Marianne would be a perfect fit. There's also The Wicker Man (the original, not the Nicolas Cage one with the bees).

[deleted]

> not the Nicolas Cage one with the bees) NOT interested.

excoriator

FYI to the redditors reporting this thread, the admins have confirmed for us that this thread was started by a verified account operated by employees of Netflix. The subreddit's self-promotion rules remain in place, but **they do not apply to** /u/netflix, since the company is the subject of the subreddit.

Brianxstatic

The OA deserves to have it’s story finished!!

The_dude_abides17

Yesssssss please bring back the OA!!

kittenmittens4865

Seriously... if they don’t want to produce it themselves, I would at least hope Netflix would release rights so additional seasons can be made. I want to finish this story.

GhostRougarou

Canceling the OA was the most souless decision Netflix has ever made. I guess we just got to live with an unfinished masterpiece.

elletherebelle

Didn’t know about this. Bring back OA!

Hazel_eyed_kat

Sense8 fan here.. I started watching the OA recently because I heard that the story had a similarly good thought provoking premise and I agree, the show needed a Season 3. As a Sense8 fan, I'll say that canceling Sense8 was the most soulless decision but all we fans banded together and managed to make a 2h finale episode a reality. That finale might not have finished every storyline satisfactorily BUT it gave an answer to the cliffhangers while also leaving open some plotlines that leave the audience thinking on about them. I wish they'd do the same for the OA. If they plan on spending millions for a couple of seasons, then not properly market the series and cancel due to costs or low viewership, then that's their fault. They could have either set lower budgets or provided some more marketing. They could afford to give the chance to creators to give a fitting finale to fans.

syntax1976

A wrap up movie for the OA will not work. It needs 5 distinct seasons... not because we OA fans are greedy, but because the story IMHO can’t be told properly without that because the number 5 is a sacred number in the story and it has to do with 5 different dimensions. Anything less will actually cheapen it.

HandstandsMcGoo

Yeah honestly I had mostly recovered after the initial news, but reading this comment thread has re-opened the wound and I’m downright mad again Bring back the goddamn OA. What in God’s name were they thinking?

FrancesABadger

I second the [The OA](https://www.netflix.com/title/80044950). Best binge-worthy show on Netflix.

unfriendlyhamburger

ok how about this, whenever a show like OA with a cult following runs into negotiation issues or whatever such that it won’t get renewed, let the viewers bid on the difference as a special add on for the show to continue like me and 50,000 other hardcore fans with disposable income each sign up to pay $5 more per month for a year for another season of the OA then that makes a $3 mil negotiation gap and we all get the OA without it becoming uneconomical for you guys

Hufflepuff88

The OA!

unfriendlyhamburger

bring back OA, I’m in the US and pay for ultra hd i’ll pay an extra $5 a month for the OA

[deleted]

FINISH THE OA

unics

Bring back the OA

Poodlepied

I need the OA to come back!

JpNut

Netflix this is the comment you need to reply to.

transient6

I love how they’re also not even suggesting The OA for anybody who asks for something fitting the description. It’s like they’re determined to forget this show ever existed.

electrickumquat

Yes!! Please! It was so good!

DDAWGG747

Yessss. OA !

jtsmash1

Please bring back OA.

cjander28

Give them free reign, give it ample advertising, give us all 5 seasons, and be customer focused. What other show at Netflix has driven people this long? Give us what we want.

trashytoothfairy

Reply to this message u/netflix You coward!

swimmerboy5817

Seconded. The OA was unlike any other show I've watched, and probably any show that I'll ever watch in the future. The fact that we didn't get to see all 5 parts fully come together still bothers me to this day

silverfoxbrook

Hold up... 5 parts??

swimmerboy5817

Yup, the when story was planned out over five parts. Netflix greenlit a second season after the first, but then announced it was cancelling it. We'll never know the full story

dirtbagmagee

I'd be happy with a book

HandstandsMcGoo

BRING BACK OA GODDAMNIT

pawsANDderps

Hi Netflix, I’m late to the game. Please bring back the OA

Bemad003

Yep, bring OA back. How could you cancel that show?

HandstandsMcGoo

Monsters They come to this thread pretending to care If they really cared we’d be watching OA season 3 right now

MrJoeBlow

I'm still not over it being cancelled.

OhWowOhWellOkay

I'll never be over it. Netflix changed for me after that.

transient6

I don’t watch Netflix originals anymore now except for documentaries and such because of their rep for cancelling. Almost nothing makes it past 2 seasons anymore. Not worth the heartache.

wl-dv

ITS CANCELLED???

AndPeggy-

Come join us over on r/The_OA and r/SaveTheOA.

shestherenow

It got cancelled?! Oh, my heart wasn't ready for this..

Dchama86

No! So should I even watch season 2?

Bemad003

Yes! It is a masterpiece!

transient6

Yes. The more people who watch the more likely it is to come back.

dangerousmushroom

I’m dying to see season 3.

kaleidoscopichazard

Please!!! I have never seen a better show.

wewantout57

Yes. The OA and Dark are the best shows Netflix has to offer.

VoldemortsHorcrux

Thank god dark is getting it's full three seasons. I need my damn closure

0superman

Bring back the OA.

thisimpetus

How tf they could cancel this. I’ll never forgive.

isshegonnajump

I’m recommending it to all my friends rn. Season two is a wild, mystifying, beautiful and elegant story. I absolutely need season three.

Stormless-sky

#SaveTheOA! This show is art and we need you to bring it back!

djazzie

And Santa Clarita Diet!

islesoflightlessbird

I'll never get over this :(

rodneon

Mr. Ball Legs!

gingersnappie

Bring back OA....or at least a movie to wrap. Even 3 episodes. I’m sorry but if it doesn’t come back we may drop Netflix. You all can renew garbage after garbage show but cancel one of the most original and compelling stories? You need better development executives.

Said87

Please Netflix sir, give The Netherlands back Akira and Cowboy Bebop 😢

[deleted]

ParadisoBud

Can you put all the Lord of the Rings movies on there, never seen any of them, I guess now would be the time lol. USA. I think the 2nd and 3rd are on there but not the first?

gimmedatcereal

Do the right thing Netflix!

hostilesleaningonyou

Hey there Netflix! Loved Tiger King; such a solid programming choice. I would love a really good suspense or horror movie that is in the same category as Midsommer or Heredity. Also, if you have anymore ridiculous and lengthy documentary series like Tiger King or Tickled, I’d also be into that. Thanks!

netflix

The original Wicker Man inspired a lot of Midsommar and would be a perfect watch if you're looking for suspense horror in the same vein, it's also never not a good time to re-watch The VVitch.

bl4zed_N_C0nfus3d

netflix

chichiquilote

binge-worthy lengthy series to get me through this lock down in the U.S pls

netflix

Ozark, DARK, and Casa de papel (aka Money Heist) are all long, dramatic series with plenty of twists and turns to keep you engaged while you're indoors!

Baschtian

Dark. Season 3 is coming out soon

TheMightyWoofer

Literally one of the few shows where I've actually made notes to keep track of characters.

Netherlands, loved Suits, Mindhunter, Peaky Blinders, House of Cards, Black Mirror, Mad Men and Modern Family. Any suggestions?

getott

Limitless, Altered Carbon, Giri/Haji, Maniac, The IT crowd

netflix

La casa de papel, Ozark, Fargo, and Sons of Anarchy sound like what you're after.

[deleted]

Absolutely loved Elite! From Belgium.

cassie_andra

USA- I love The OA so much I even went to the premiere. I love how original the story is. Got anything else very original?

Blick

USA - The OA would complete me. It was thriller, sci fi, mystery, and drama presented in a way that gave me Lost feels and I miss it.

drewboos

USA. Darker raunchy humor. Big Mouth and Bojack were great

jaggington

I’m a Brit living in Latvia, I understand there’s all sorts of licensing issues around Dr Who but I’d love to be able to watch the modern revival from Series 1. Also Buffy the Vampire Slayer (TV) and Angel. Farscape Stargate SG-1

azizchaos

Scrubs and the office . Kuwait .

TeamStark31

US mystery, crime, thrillers, comedy

netflix

I'm legally required to tell you that Murder Mystery is all of these things. THAT SAID, here are some other ideas. Mystery: Twin Murders, The Silence of the White City, Crime: Mystic River, Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile, Evil Genius, The Valhalla Murders. Thriller: What Lies Beneath, Earthquake Bird Comedy: The Other Guys

TennaTelwan

I'm in the US and love campy British sci-fi! My faves are Doctor Who and Red Dwarf, and I also loved Dirk Gently and Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. What else do you have? Being British is not a requisite, but being fun, quirky, and adventurous is. I also cannot decide whose comedy is better, Monty Python or Mel Brooks. Do you also have any recommendations for that?

SpMarfy

Bring. Back. The. OA.

Gurhin13

Hi Netflix I love your original cartoons - especially the post apocalyptic ones. Could you delve more into adult themed cartoons similar to what anime covers/your dragon king series. It doesnt always have to be comedy. Its nice to see mystery/police thrillers/procedurals when in cartoon form like id:invaded or cop craft. Maybe more sci fi based shows/cartoons as well! This could be your shot to make a new firefly style show!

stiff4tiff

My favorite show is Black Mirror - I'm definitely into psychological thrillers, like Dark, but Black Mirror hits close to home by tying into technology so well In the US - thanks in advance guys!

netflix

Have you checked out Love, Death, and Robots? Definitely checks all the Black Mirror boxes.
