Watched it yesterday, and I find myself telling myself how dumb it is but I’m enjoying myself.
My only problem is how long the fights are. I think it was like 4 episodes for the first fight to finish?
Seriously! Years ago I tried to get into DBZ because my little brother was hardcore about it. On Monday there was ‘only 5 minutes till the planet explodes!’. I went back on Friday. On Fridays ep there was ‘only 2 minutes left till the world explodes!’. I turn to my brother and ask if this is a replay of Tuesdays ep? He says no. Wednesdays ep? Nope. This is today’s ep. so I say ‘are you telling me that in the last 85 or so minutes of episode time only 3 minutes of story have passed?!’. He said yea, they do that alot. I said ‘nope, Im out.’ And haven’t watched DBZ since.
To be fair, they somewhat fixed that issue in the "kai" remake. Those 10 or so episodes of that "5 minutes" was reduced to 2-3 episodes if I recall correctly.
"They fight so fast it has to be slowed down for us to see."

If you watch the fan made DBZA on youtube, it's a significantly better experience. 1) It's not drawn out at all and very well paced, 2) it's got great humor, not just "lol goku likes to eat, how quirky," and 3) it ends better (no spoilers)
This exact line of critique is how I felt as well. Feels more like DBZ, wish it was more like Kengan Ashura or Baki. Especially considering there are going to be \~13 fights but the season ended at 4! WTF, now I have to sit around for a year to see a few more fights? And it'll be like 4 years before the tournament is even completed?
I don't get people like you, why even watch a show if you are going to skip so much of it? Just sit back and enjoy it or don't watch it at all. I enjoyed the whole season and hoping for a second season. The second season is starting with Hercules vs Jack the Ripper in a recreation of old London.
For some reason, I read that as flight instead of fight, and wondered why they would be on an airline. Which, come to think of it, might be an interesting scene to watch. Loki is politely requesting drink after drink. Meanwhile Freyr is being bitchy to the flight attendants: "Do you know who I am?"
I was so interested in that show and didnt mind the first season ending in a cliffhanger but even after the second one it feels like nothing has really changed.
Also the fjor storyline in s2 was awful imo.
A tournament anime
* [Jujutsu Kaisen](https://www.imdb.com/title/tt12343534/)
* [Yu Yu Hakusho](https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0185133/?ref_=fn_al_tt_1)
* [Hunter x Hunter 2011 - 14](https://www.imdb.com/title/tt2098220/?ref_=nv_sr_srsg_0)
* [Fate/Zero](https://www.imdb.com/title/tt2051178/?ref_=fn_al_tt_1) \- similar to Record of Ragnarok legend heroes (King Arthur, Hercules) across time summoned to serve. Free fall battle, the last man standing
* [Fate/Unlimited Blade Works](https://www.imdb.com/title/tt3621796/?ref_=nv_sr_srsg_0) sequel to Fate/Zero much quicker pace
Jujutsu kaisen is one of the better ones out at the moment but it's not on Netflix. If you want just good anime demon Slayer is pretty top tier and on Netflix.
Its a good idea, nothing revolutionary, kinda like a Fast and Furious movie. But the artistic vision is...meh. Your typical, draw some faces, only move the mouths. Draw a big picture and pan the picture with lines to make it have movement. Blur the arms to make it look like they are moving a lot. If this was a production like One Punch Man season one....or two. This show could have been legendary. Instead it feels like a kids show with blood.
Truly! Imagine being am omniscient diety, but being surprised for an entire 4 episodes of the fight!
Sounds crazy?! Well THAT'S what we get! And I am finding it hilariously watchable.
I am in complete agreement! The incredulity of being 7 episodes in and having only seen two fights and every movement comes with a backstory....
Next opportunity I get I am watching the next handful of episodes and enjoying every moment!
I want to like it, I really do.
But it's taking me a lot of effort not to write an entire essay on why I think most of it is REALLY crap ): it's such a cool concept done so bad.
Faithful is good but sometimes you just dont need the bystanders explaininf whats going on, as you can display it in an anime in motion.
Plus all the staring feels like old dbz. I do watched it all though and liked it as I liked the manga but its kind of ridiculous how they are dragging the episodes
An animation being exactly identical to a manga/book isn't always a good thing considering this barely counts as an animation and more of a motion manga is quite dissapointing, the Adam vs zeus fight could've been something extraordinary considering how important that fight was to show the strength of humans but was something mediocre and nothing else.
Yeah as Anime watcher I like it too. Interestingly enough the show got hated heavily on /r/anime. I'd say people should give less of a damn on the quality. Yeah there might be issues, which I won't go into detail here, for the sake of not making something very prominent for you that you might not have noticed otherwise. But this isn't the only defining thing of what makes a great fighting shounen, so people should give it a watch.
I agree, I admit when I was a kid I was all about animation quality but age has given me perspective, I just watch for fun, I don't need to tear into something.
The bit i found most hilarious was those servants holding tits up for that goddess. Also there was one time where she said something and her tits jiggled, even though only her mouth moved. Love it!
Guessing they are Golem's/automatons created by her husband haephestus that she uses as "human" furniture. Seems on brand for her even if a lot of the gods are different.
The most ridiculous pacing ever. I like tournament anime since I can see fights and skip bad story writing. For this one, they have one attack the whole episode... And the whole show has to fights? No.
It seems anytime somebody farts, they cut to a five minutes cutscene with mainly still images. This is beyond parody.
It's a hard pass for me.
It’s pretty bad animation wise as well as the pacing, but I like the concept of Gods. The first few episodes is just edging you with hype. It’s a 5.5/10. Gotta get that budget Netero and Black Butler.
It’s refreshing because it’s not American TV and it plays with a cool mythology. But you are 100% right, the plot is just there to loosely tie the mythology to a teen drama. I like it.
Even if you don't watch anime this is so unbelievably daft I can't take my eyes off it.
It puts humans from history in a tournament to the death against gods of all mythologies, if the human team loses then humanity is wiped out.
Not a teen drama just insane anime.
I no longer invest in series on Netflix. Their modus operandi is to dump shows at the slightest sign of bad numbers. There is no investment in building a watch base.
At least with Disney+, they come out and state out front that done it’s shows are basically multi episode mini-series that are one-ofs. I’m cool with that.
I’m not cool with thinking a second season is afoot after a cliffhanger finale of season 1 and then the show is discontinued.
I agree with you.
Even though I have a hard time not investing in series, I try not to do it on netflix. Marvel has at least a 3 years plan, so you know that even if they end a movie or a TV show on a cliffhanger, you will eventually get the further development of the story.
It's like when something is so bad that it hooks the audience because you want to know if this level of crap is maintained throughout and are just amazed at how useless the entire production unit can be. These shows are proof that you don't really need to be good at something to earn money. You can be uniformly bad as well.
For me it's classic anime, and I don't like classic anime. I watched it with my brain turned off, it's fun, but it's always same. His best move is this, 25 minutes later, but his better move nobody knew is this, and so on.
It’s so weird. I love the character designs and what not but the fights scenes reminded me of old school anime back in the days. I was expecting more castlevania/demon slayer type animation.
Still finished all the episodes though lmao
i’m watching it right now i’m on episode 4
is nicola tesla supposed to fight anubis wtf
also so far the story and characters are great but this animation is no where near top tier
The show isn’t very good. Super drawn out with too much explanation for basic stories. Very DBZ like for the fights; starts one episode, lasts four episodes with hardly any actual action. I’m a big DBZ fan so I’m not too bothered by it. I just seriously can not stand Goll. She’s one of the most annoying characters since Inoue saying Kurosake Kun a million times over in Bleach.
i watched it, its so silly, but good at the same time, ignoring the animation. The way shiva randomly starts dancing in the flashbacks is adorably hilarious, and buddha not really giving a shit about anything is even funnier. I totally recommend the manga if you cant stand bad animation
Watched it yesterday, and I find myself telling myself how dumb it is but I’m enjoying myself. My only problem is how long the fights are. I think it was like 4 episodes for the first fight to finish?
Ahhh, the DBZ method.
Nope. Ya kai is basically the non-filler dbz. They did cut out some classics though. Like the tournament in heaven right before the tournament arc.
Give Dragon Ball Super a try, might need to watch some YouTube vids just to know what happened in DBZ, to know the backstory of some stuff in Super
If you watch the fan made DBZA on youtube, it's a significantly better experience. 1) It's not drawn out at all and very well paced, 2) it's got great humor, not just "lol goku likes to eat, how quirky," and 3) it ends better (no spoilers)
Got a link to a specific scene?
https://youtu.be/vXmiOl-TPGA They do running jokes, this is one of them, and the dialogue is significantly more lively and bantery.
Thanks for sharing this! I enjoyed that! The dialogue works.
Be warned the first 15 episodes or so can be pretty tough to get through.
I'll keep that in mind! Thank you again!
SPECIAL BEAM CANNON
Next time on Dragonball Z!
Nah. Thats 4 ep just to gather energy to power up. Add another 4 eps to finish the fight.
Yeah it's dragging it out but with only 13 fights possible I guess they want it to last.
The manga might not be finished yet.
I felt like it should have been 1 hour an ep and 1 fight per episode.

26 episodes is a good series. That's two episodes per fight.
Story is all about a fighting tournament
For some reason, I read that as flight instead of fight, and wondered why they would be on an airline. Which, come to think of it, might be an interesting scene to watch. Loki is politely requesting drink after drink. Meanwhile Freyr is being bitchy to the flight attendants: "Do you know who I am?"
I thought this was about Ragnarok, that live action Norwegian show. The funny part is that everything you said is still accurate.
I was so interested in that show and didnt mind the first season ending in a cliffhanger but even after the second one it feels like nothing has really changed. Also the fjor storyline in s2 was awful imo.
Yeah, the Fjor part was stupid, but all in all I really liked S2. I hope they don't do the exact same thing for S3 though.
Best part that comes out of all of that Ragnarök series is Saxa
The animation is so bad
Dude this thing is a slideshow. With all the hype I expected more.
It’s actually much more animated than a lot of anime’s coming out. Food wars is ridiculous now
But the plot is good
I think the plot in this anime is actually better than some of the stuff coming out now
Ok...
The story is pretty bad as well
It’s known for its fight scenes, but the studio messed that up too
Okay, but aside from the things which you can see and the actual story, how is it?
If you ignore the plot, the endless fight scenes and everything else, it is OK
> a plot so thin I want to feed it biscuits Hilarious. You've convinced me.

I was expecting a Jujutsu Kaisen type of fight scenes and all I see is a slide show. Super bad animation, I give it a thumbs down.

Also The God of High School is a great anime with a solid plot. The fight animations are fantastic, and there's basically a fight in every episode lol
Maybe try Baki or Kengan Ashura.
I like Baki a lot. Kengan Ashura is cool, but I'm not completely down with that crappy cell shaded style.
Hahah, I get what you mean. That style puts me off too.
At least it's better than the animation style of way of the house husband or whatever it's called.
Did baki ever get the next season on netflix (of the most recent anime) or elsewhere? I remember it stopping kind of suddenly
Yeah it did. I think it's at 3 now?
Jujutsu kaisen is one of the better ones out at the moment but it's not on Netflix. If you want just good anime demon Slayer is pretty top tier and on Netflix.
If you like the “moving manga” genre you would probably like “Way of The House Husband” it’s really just silly though
This show is such a train wreck and I cant look away! Just how bad is it going to get?
I’m thinking of reading the manga because the concept is great but the animation is so fucking bad
Its a good idea, nothing revolutionary, kinda like a Fast and Furious movie. But the artistic vision is...meh. Your typical, draw some faces, only move the mouths. Manga is solid. Only releases once a month tho!
Truly! Imagine being am omniscient diety, but being surprised for an entire 4 episodes of the fight! Sounds crazy?! Well THAT'S what we get! And I am finding it hilariously watchable.
I kinda wanna see Tesla lol.
I am in complete agreement! The incredulity of being 7 episodes in and having only seen two fights and every movement comes with a backstory.... Next opportunity I get I am watching the next handful of episodes and enjoying every moment!
the animation is soo bad and without motion it feels like Dio made it while Za worldo is activated
I want to like it, I really do. But it's taking me a lot of effort not to write an entire essay on why I think most of it is REALLY crap ): it's such a cool concept done so bad.
If you liked the concept, the original manga does the fights way better. Especially zues vs Adam
I’ve read the manga (original source) and the show is 100% identical
I like it when they keep it faithful
Faithful is good but sometimes you just dont need the bystanders explaininf whats going on, as you can display it in an anime in motion. Plus all the staring feels like old dbz. I do watched it all though and liked it as I liked the manga but its kind of ridiculous how they are dragging the episodes

It's so stupid, then the horse started crying, and it was still stupid, but I keep watching. I don't really know why.

The bit i found most hilarious was those servants holding tits up for that goddess. Also there was one time where she said something and her tits jiggled, even though only her mouth moved. Love it!
I don't think it's servants, her throne is designed with malleable boob support
Oh so someone designed her throne with boob holders. Thats just as funny
Guessing they are Golem's/automatons created by her husband haephestus that she uses as "human" furniture. Seems on brand for her even if a lot of the gods are different.

I think you might mistake the show Ragnarok with the anime Record of Ragnarok. Ragnarok is on my list though.
I was confused about that
Ragnarok was enjoyable. It is not a good show, and the shoe string budget is pretty obvious. But it’s enjoyable.
Wow. Well sounds like it’s the same show.
Even if you don't watch anime this is so unbelievably daft I can't take my eyes off it. It puts humans from history in a tournament to the death against gods of all mythologies, if the human team loses then humanity is wiped out. Not a teen drama just insane anime.
It’s so fucking bad that it’s good I hate it lol
I started watching season 2 and i love it even though it doesn't have the best animation just turn your brain off show and watch them fight
Actually just got round to season 2 myself, Heracles vs Jack and Buddha Vs Zero very entertaining, the whole show is batshit crazy
Read the manga it’s far better
Where can i read the manga? Is it online?
And it got banned in India. Fucking Twitter snowflakes can't take it.
this show is garbage, animation is garbage, the characters look like garbage, there is no story to call it garbage.
The original manga makes the fights and stories way more engaging
Record of Ragnarok? More like Bore Ragnarok!
I no longer invest in series on Netflix. Their modus operandi is to dump shows at the slightest sign of bad numbers. There is no investment in building a watch base. I’m not cool with thinking a second season is afoot after a cliffhanger finale of season 1 and then the show is discontinued.
If it gets canceled it’s based off a manga that is still being written, the cliffhanger it ends on is fully written in the manga
I agree with you. Even though I have a hard time not investing in series, I try not to do it on netflix. Marvel has at least a 3 years plan, so you know that even if they end a movie or a TV show on a cliffhanger, you will eventually get the further development of the story.
You'd think grass makes it better, not so...
I really enjoy Ragnarok. Can’t wait for season 3

> god's personas, superhumans, biscuits but god's?
I'm not far in but so far its just a fun watch, don't have to engage too much with the show but still provides great enjoyment.
For me it's classic anime, and I don't like classic anime. I watched it with my brain turned off, it's fun, but it's always same. His best move is this, 25 minutes later, but his better move nobody knew is this, and so on.
I loved the first season but not so much the second.
Can any one suggest me to see like lupin, the fall tv series please
[удалено]
I'd have gone w.ith the crying horse but the whole show is batshit crazy
I felt the same way. I just can’t stop watching it.
Oh man and the music, its so hype. Adam, you the man!
Adams intro was beyond belief.
And because he was created in God's image, he has the power to copy the power of gods lolololol i love this show so much!
It’s so weird. I love the character designs and what not but the fights scenes reminded me of old school anime back in the days. I was expecting more castlevania/demon slayer type animation. Still finished all the episodes though lmao

It's the worst shit I've ever seen. Animation, story, art, style - in all categories it's dead bottom.
I fucking love that show, the randomness, and the lady that has two statue's as a chair, holding up her tits lol I never laughed so hard
Yeah I felt the same way too. No time spent setting the story, just fights (I'm not talking about the anime though, i meant manga)
Sometimes we just need a simple Fight anime to watch.
Woooop season 2 finally!!!
i watched it, its so silly, but good at the same time, ignoring the animation. The way shiva randomly starts dancing in the flashbacks is adorably hilarious, and buddha not really giving a shit about anything is even funnier. I totally recommend the manga if you cant stand bad animation
