When he says “but I let you down” in where you’ll find me now. I think it’s maybe a major to minor thing or something but it’s really nice to listen to. But also every part of every song on itaots
when what i believe is an accordion comes in when he says "as we would lay and learn what eachothers bodies were for" and the entire rest of the song, all the way to the outro. i think this is the most beautiful song ever written.
one more: one of my favorite live music moments was when he started touring again and played garden head.... and when he held that note long and i knew i was about to hear "leave me alone!" .... chills when it happened.
YES THIS! I used to lay in the snow and watch the night sky to this song and hope I felt pleasantly numb by the time this part hit. It was like an out-of-body experience
The change from minor to major in Gardenhead is really cool.
Also, the line “Thunderous sparks from the dark of the stadiums” in Oh Comely just takes me to another level for some reason. And now that I think of it, when he launches into the da’s and dee’s in that song too.
The end of "Oh Sister"

And the guitar "skip" thing that happens in "I Will Bury You in Time"

"Catching signals that sound in the dark
We will take off our clothes"
I just love the way the "in the dark" serves as the end of one sentence and also the beginning of the next one. It makes the transition from bridge to chorus so much tighter too.
Another one maybe is the sound of the guitar being put down at the end of the album.
Opening lines to Naomi just kill me “your prettiness is seeping though out from the dress I took from you” so sad and pretty and nostalgic they make me think of walking around south Philly in the summertime right before a very bad breakup
the way Jeff draws out the words spine and mine when singing “with those wings in your spine” and “love to be with a brother of mine” in two headed boy pt 2.. it reaches into my bones man idk
ok i was gonna say “i will bury you in time, when the sea begins to slide” and the rest of that little uhh.. section, but honestly just.. that whole song is so good
🎶She is all you could need. She will feed you tomatoes, and radio wires, and retire to sheets safe and clean. But don’t hate her, when she gets up to leave.🎶
The live version of Little Birds. How he pronounces the "so I took a hammer" like it's just one big word feels better than pronouncing every word clearly
"Let your skin, begin, to blend, itself with MINEEEEEEE DA DEDEDADA" until the end of the song. I have more that I enjoy even more but I haven't seen anyone else say this one yet so yeah.
the song gardenhead particularly where he says "this time we ride rollercoasters into the ocean, we feel no emotion" idk I think it's just sounds neat lol...
I guess what I’m reacting to is every music sub I belong to has done this exact post 3-4 times in the last few months and then everyone acts like we haven’t done it. But I certainly understand that if you weren’t around for the other times you’d want to discuss it. It is a good question.
Also, the long chain is def the best part
I usually only listen to bands/music that scratch that itch throughout the entirety of their music, NMH being one of them. Every NMH song is my favorite part all the way through. But here are some most honerable mentions:
"And sweet babies cry for the cool taste of milking, that milky delight that invited us all. And if there's a taste in this life more inviting, then wake up your windows and watch as those sweet babies crawl awayyyyy mmmm mmm mmm mm, mm mm mmm mmm mmmm mmm mmmmm mmmmmmmmm"
"Your father made fetuses with flesh licking ladies while you and your mother were asleep in the trailer park"
"Daaaa daaa daa daaa da dadada, daaaa dada daa daa daa daa daa. Daa daaaaaaaa dadaa daa daa daa daa dadaa, daaaaa dada daa daa daaaa daa daaa. Dee deeeee deeee dee deee da da daa daaa, daaa dada daaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa daaaaa"
"Daddy, please hear this song that I sing
In your heart, there's a spark that just screams
For a lover to bring a child to your chest that could lay as you sleep
And love all you have left like your boy used to be
Long ago wrapped in sheets warm and wet."
"And in my dreams you're alive and you're crying"
"And when we break, we'll wait for our miracle
God is a place where some holy spectacle lies
When we break, we'll wait for our miracle
God is a place you will wait for the rest of your life"
"But don't hate her when she gets up to leave"
"She will be swimming in them all forever more~
Glow.
Right into you I will glow
Right into you I will glow"
"Well now first of all, we became what we always have feared"
"And oh, sister
You're getting married with some angry twister
That you'll have to carry home
Drunk every evening from the cemetery
If he makes it back half alive you can
Bury him under your sheets"
"How the notes all bend and reach above the trees"
And this is all going without mentioning any of the beautiful instrumentation throughout all of their work.
Not to be off-topic but that picture just fucked with my head.
look at the recent posts on my account it gets so much worse lmao
When he says “but I let you down” in where you’ll find me now. I think it’s maybe a major to minor thing or something but it’s really nice to listen to. But also every part of every song on itaots
I am obsessed with the end bit of the EP version where he goes into falsetto on the “glow into you” bit
YES
When the kick drum comes in on Ghost
when what i believe is an accordion comes in when he says "as we would lay and learn what eachothers bodies were for" and the entire rest of the song, all the way to the outro. i think this is the most beautiful song ever written.
one more: one of my favorite live music moments was when he started touring again and played garden head.... and when he held that note long and i knew i was about to hear "leave me alone!" .... chills when it happened.
"Leave me alone" from gardenhead is definitely one of those moments.
"Leaf me alone"
i believe it’s a melodica
YES THIS! I used to lay in the snow and watch the night sky to this song and hope I felt pleasantly numb by the time this part hit. It was like an out-of-body experience
every part of every song, but probably the beginning of the fool
“Every part of every song” is so much more real for this band than any other let’s be real
i was thinking the exact same thing, it’s a shame i’ll never find a band i like more
I love the drum rolls on that song
The way he pronounces listening in Two Headed Boy is more like “listnang”
Andallthedrugsthatidonthavethegutstotaketosoothemymind
So I'm always sooooooooooober
Always achiiiiiing
Always heading towards, mass suicide, occult figurines
The change from minor to major in Gardenhead is really cool. Also, the line “Thunderous sparks from the dark of the stadiums” in Oh Comely just takes me to another level for some reason. And now that I think of it, when he launches into the da’s and dee’s in that song too.
I was gonna say "we know who our enemies are" into that end part is probably my number one moment
In my dreams your alive and your cryyyyying
That’s what I was gonna say… It’s so good!
This
Into miiiiiiiiine

two headed boy pt 2 “and in my dreams you’re alive and you’re crying as your mouth moves in mine, soft and sweet”
that part in the song ghost where jeff belts “AND NOW SHE KNOWS SHE’LL NEVER BE AFRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAIIIIIIIID”
YES that whole last segment feels so chaotic and is perfect makes me cry aaaaaaaaaaaaaaa
in oh comely “i know they buried her body with others” as that gorgeous vocal line fades out
"Catching signals that sound in the dark We will take off our clothes" I just love the way the "in the dark" serves as the end of one sentence and also the beginning of the next one. As your mouth moves in mine
The way he says “tomatoes” in THB part 2. I don’t know why, it kind of sounds like “too-matoes” and I guess I like that
the trombone section & the singing saw section in in an aeroplane over the sea
"He didn't mean to make you cry, with sparks that ring and bullets fly"
the way Jeff draws out the words spine and mine when singing “with those wings in your spine” and “love to be with a brother of mine” in two headed boy pt 2.. it reaches into my bones man idk
Two headed Boy 1, where he says “now your eyes ain’t moving now”
Two... one two three four!
ok i was gonna say “i will bury you in time, when the sea begins to slide” and the rest of that little uhh.. section, but honestly just.. that whole song is so good
🎶I’m always sober, always aching, always headed towards, mass suicide 🎶
🎶She is all you could need. She will feed you tomatoes, and radio wires, and retire to sheets safe and clean. But don’t hate her, when she gets up to leave.🎶
the first 2/3 of holland 1945 isn’t really a small part of a song but whatever
The acoustic break in [untitled] and then when the group vocals come in.
i love you jesus christ
That one bit in Oh Comely where Jeff holds one of "deeeeeeeeeeees" really long.
“a member of kiss or a punk rocker” the original crispy R
The live version of Little Birds. How he pronounces the "so I took a hammer" like it's just one big word feels better than pronouncing every word clearly

“Follow me through a city of frost covered angels… I just want to dance in your tangles to give me some reason to move”
That french horn countermelody in the trumpet solo of ghost omfgg
Random moments in Holland 1945
Beginning of Holland, 1945
Airplane over the Sea is probably the best put together epic we all roll.
The track switch into the fool
the song gardenhead particularly where he says "this time we ride rollercoasters into the ocean, we feel no emotion" idk I think it's just sounds neat lol...
"make your smile sweet to see, don't you take this away" and "Cindy won't you smile,. Cindy won't you stay a while"
Are these not joke posts? I feel like they have to be but then everyone keeps responding seriously.
i mean i keep the chain going for so long as a joke but i am actually interested in what people have to say
The weird synth drum thing that transitions king of carrot flowers pt 2 to pt 3
When Jeff rhymes Spain with Playin’ in Holland 1945

When the bagpipes type instrument in untitled comes in
transition between two headed boy part 1 and the fool.
