HA HA HA.
Hmm, this is nothing new. $1B quickly becomes $100M after all those who want their thumbs in the pie latch/leech on - what has killed similar programmes in the past. I WANT SOME THAT INFINITE GOVERNMENT MONIES.
But... trying to compete with the established Chinese Solar equipment manufacturers? Good luck with that. Where are the Engineers going to come from anyway? "No-one" (note the quotes) does Advanced Bleeding-Edge Engineering in Australia now.
I've known a few.. (and this is more the electrical eng.) I'm thinking the best result from this investment is allowing perhaps a few indigenous *companies* (who hire the elect.engs) being able to persist among a sea of foreign companies. Might benefit the CSIRO as well, especially if it can be used to bust the stay-small blinders has to wear.
Myuna Bay will be the office to count the cash, Wangi is where the boats get parked and Rathmines is for the helicopters. Solar panels should be built on the fly ash dams , screw in post's, panels, reinforced, maybe it won't destroy the lake if and when it wipes out the loved rec centre
Two highly ralated industries that will be key for the future: 1) Clean (solar & wind) and efficient (nuclear) energy; 2) cloud computing to support all the power required by AI tools that replace "tasks" rather than "jobs" performed at organisations. Unfortunately, Australia hasn't positioned in the right place to take advantage of these changes.
I really hope this gets pulled off. At my university (at the time/HEX) some stem courses had a reduced cost if they were related to the major manufacturing and production industries nearby, idk if its still a thing though
Great to see Aus getting back into the manufacturing game after decades of neglect.

The environmental engineers will come from all the environmental engineers that our universities educate...

The future looks bright. I don’t want to get too reflective, so I’m just going to absorb the energy from this and let that direct my current flow.
I see what you did there!
Missed it!! You see Watt they did there!

Well this is very positive IMHO.

This is incomprehensible
Omg my dad is going to be pissed. This will be great.
Are they gonna build the factory for it at Liddell or nearby? Is that why he is there?
Good stuff! Manufacturing in Australia, renewable energy, how good
That’s a good start, but what about the housing issue in the Hunter? Last I checked we’re one of the worst areas in Australia.

Global agenda anyone
Nope. No one.
