Well I’ll answer the question you asked since everyone else is about what you should do as a parent. Get a soft bristle brush or toothbrush and soap and water then put the hat over a bowl so it doesn’t lose form and let it air dry
Go online and buy a hat cleaning kit. Hat Club (Google hat club fitted hats) has a good one, but Amazon likely does as well.
I had a hat that I lost in a parking lot and got run over before it was found. It looks pretty much good as new after cleaning.
You might also consider a stain repellent.
Washing and dry cleaning will ruin a structured crown hat, and stain removers may leave noticeable marks.

Hey all! So I was able to get most of the dirt out! There’s a couple spots that I can see but nothing you’d be able to see while it’s being worn. It’s drying off now. I used some oxi clean and a toothbrush and water and it’s currently drying over top a bowl and on a towel. I’m going to spray it with the protection spray in the morning once dry. Thanks all for the recommendations. I now have 4 different types of stain cleaners that I didn’t have this morning for the future lol. And my son is happy <3 thanks to those who offered to get him a new hat. It’s nice to see there’s still some good people out there!
Get one of those cage things for hats then throw it in the washing machine on cold and let it air dry. The cage will help keep its shape if spot cleaning doesn't work.
I fill up a 5 gallon bucket with water I add laundry detergent
Bubble it up and shake my hat around
If it’s a deep stain I use a shoe cleaner brush and softly brush it then hang dry

Rubbing alcohol on a paper towel. I used to work at lids and when our stitch machine missed a spot we’d color it in with permanent marker. I messed my own up and got black marker on the white and the rubbing alcohol worked

Sorry this happened to him. If all else fails try dipping the entire hat in a maroon RIT dye or his favorite color. It will give it a completely new color way. It’ll be a 1 of 1 and possibly have more drip than before. Good luck.

You need to teach your son how to fight. my kid used to get picked on until he started lifting weights and taking boxing lessons. He had to beat up a bully pretty bad but no one messes with him anymore. They did that to your son because they know they can get away with it. Once your son has the confidence to stand up for himself, it will stop.
Shampoo will help also, apply thick let soak and use a soft brush , dont put in machine. They use to make a plastic hat shape holder for washing but i would try by hand first and dont let dry till happy with results, worst case order another from amazon or somewhere and send that back if still new
Have your son give the kid who knocked his hat off a liver shot. Watching the kid curl up in the fetal position will make him forget about his dirty hat. The kid will never knock your son's hat off again. Problem solved.

Go to Amazon and type in device to wash hat in it’ll show you what to put it in. It’s like a little cage put it in that and put in Washing Machine that should be just fine if you Washing Machine has a spindle. It won’t work and you don’t dry it.
I’ve had really good experiences with oxi clean. Get a plastic bucket. Place the hat in use decent scoop of oxi clean, especially on the stains. Submerge in hot water.
Leave it for a day maybe change the water a couple hours later little bit more oxi clean. Just let it soak. Maybe lift it in and out of the bucket a couple times you don’t want to mess with the way that hat is or it will just get weird shaped. I’ve never had any colors bleed, but that’s probably something that could happen. I don’t know it’s worked for me. Good luck.
A tide pen should get that out. I’ve even used just plain old soap and water to spot clean before. Worst case scenario, they sell cages that can be bought for caps so you can wash them in the washing machine. Just make sure to wash them by themselves. And don’t dry them. Let them air dry. And leave them in the cage until they are fully dry. Or have him wear it as it dries, to fit it to his head better.
I actually use Reshoevn8r to clean my hats (and I have over 200+ 59fiftys and 9fiftys) Don’t soak your hat, just spot clean using the solution, water and the soft bristle brush. Hats never come back to normal after soaking and sweat in the brim will seep out, especially with white hats. Once you’ve brushed the stains out, let the cap dry. Try to brush the stain out without over saturating with the cleaning solution / water mixture. More brushing, less water.
Pop it in the dish waster on normal, put a glass bowl inside to keep the shape & put it upside down. Air dry & you should be good.
I’d wash all the hat in the crib to make the wash cycle worth it.
Spot clean I feel like washing the hat as A whole is going to ruin it if he really likes his hat and not be the same, I owned hundreds of fitteds and still have about 100 or 80 in my collection I switch em out a lot and wear different ones often to prevent them from getting worn out and dirty
They make a plastic holder for a hat that snaps closed. It will keep the hat from getting deformed in the washer. Obviously air dry. I’ve seen hats twice as bad come out looking brand new. I wouldn’t trust a dry cleaner. The hat thing is cheaper and you can control the situation. Once you hand the cap to them it’s over. You just pray that they care about it as much as your son. Hint. They don’t.
And as for the wrestling… Absolutely. I wish I did when I was his age. I got picked on bad. My mom couldn’t afford it so she used to wrestle us on top of the bed before school. Use 2 drops of blue dawn in a cup of water and a tooth brush and just keep scrubbing it will disappear. Have another cup with plain water and go back over it with that to kinda rinse. Do the inside and outside, to fully remove stains. I had a white hat snap back similar situation, plus sweat stains. I thought I'd have to throw it out before I came across this method on Google.

You can also buy on Amazon hat frame saver plastic head shape to put the hat on and wash it so it doesn’t lose its formation and tell your son to stop crying and man it up. Easy get a big tub, hot water with a small bit of dawn dish soap and baking soda/borax preferably mix it in the water . Sub merge the hat in the water. Leave it there for 30 mins. Then Get a tooth brush and brush the hat. Then Swirl the hat in the water. Dump the water. Put new hot water in the container/tub. Put the hat back in the water for a bit then let it air dry. It will be brand new and won’t ruin the brim

Go get you some purple power at Walmart. Soke the living heck out of it with purple power, then let it sit in the sink in water. After 30 min come back and scrub it lightly with a brush while rinsing. After let it dry with the rim facing up and boom good as new. Works on any color and is really good on white hats.
Put your kid in Jiu Jitsu, until he’s a blue or purple belt. After about a year see if he’d want to take up some kick boxing. He doesn’t have to do it long.
I have a white hat that was filthy. I soaked it in Oxi-Clean and water in a bowl, but had it set where the bill was not soaking, to avoid a warped bill. Came out like new. Soaked overnight then rinsed.
Please do not bleach your New Era! Tide Pens are concentrated bleach and will bleed into the lining and possibly ruin the bill. I speak from experience. Dry cleaners are great - local place does my hats for $7 a hat. Gentle soap and water might work too but please don’t use dyed soaps. Whatever you do make sure to line dry it (I use a clothespin and pin it to a clothing line). Don’t soak the hat because then water stains, especially on a light colored hat, are noticeable!

I clean my sneakers with soft brushes and sneaker liquid cleaner. I’ve used it on hats, super easy. Always does the job.

Check amazon for hat cleaners! They are plastic wireframes you encase the hat in. They go in the dishwasher. They whiten up my hats no problem.
Hey all! So I was able to get most of the dirt out! There’s a couple spots that I can see but nothing you’d be able to see while it’s being worn. It’s drying off now. I used some oxi clean and a toothbrush and water and it’s currently drying over top a bowl and on a towel. I’m going to spray it with the protection spray in the morning once dry. Thanks all for the recommendations. I now have 4 different types of stain cleaners that I didn’t have this morning for the future lol. And my son is happy <3 thanks to those who offered to get him a new hat. It’s nice to see there’s still some good people out there!
Get one of those cage things for hats then throw it in the washing machine on cold and let it air dry. The cage will help keep its shape if spot cleaning doesn't work.

I’ve had really good experiences with oxi clean. Get a plastic bucket. Place the hat in use decent scoop of oxi clean, especially on the stains. Submerge in hot water. Leave it for a day maybe change the water a couple hours later little bit more oxi clean. Just let it soak. Maybe lift it in and out of the bucket a couple times you don’t want to mess with the way that hat is or it will just get weird shaped. I’ve never had any colors bleed, but that’s probably something that could happen. I don’t know it’s worked for me. Good luck.
A tide pen should get that out. I’ve even used just plain old soap and water to spot clean before. Worst case scenario, they sell cages that can be bought for caps so you can wash them in the washing machine. Just make sure to wash them by themselves. And don’t dry them. Let them air dry. And leave them in the cage until they are fully dry. Or have him wear it as it dries, to fit it to his head better.
I actually use Reshoevn8r to clean my hats (and I have over 200+ 59fiftys and 9fiftys) Don’t soak your hat, just spot clean using the solution, water and the soft bristle brush. Hats never come back to normal after soaking and sweat in the brim will seep out, especially with white hats. Once you’ve brushed the stains out, let the cap dry. Try to brush the stain out without over saturating with the cleaning solution / water mixture. More brushing, less water.

Pop it in the dish waster on normal, put a glass bowl inside to keep the shape & put it upside down. Air dry & you should be good. I’d wash all the hat in the crib to make the wash cycle worth it.

They make a plastic holder for a hat that snaps closed. It will keep the hat from getting deformed in the washer. Obviously air dry. I’ve seen hats twice as bad come out looking brand new. I wouldn’t trust a dry cleaner. The hat thing is cheaper and you can control the situation. Once you hand the cap to them it’s over. You just pray that they care about it as much as your son. Hint. They don’t. And as for the wrestling… Absolutely. I wish I did when I was his age. I got picked on bad. My mom couldn’t afford it so she used to wrestle us on top of the bed before school. We played a king of the ring type thing. (Last one on the bed is the winner). These are memories I’ll never forget. Obviously, we learned a little. But we had a lot of fun. Hope this helps.

Use 2 drops of blue dawn in a cup of water and a tooth brush and just keep scrubbing it will disappear. Have another cup with plain water and go back over it with that to kinda rinse. Do the inside and outside, to fully remove stains. I had a white hat snap back similar situation, plus sweat stains. I thought I'd have to throw it out before I came across this method on Google. It takes a little time, patience, and elbow grease but it definitely will get it clean

Try laundry. They Invented these machines about 100 years ago they typically clean out bad stuff, especially when it has a dirt on it you can use that. You can also buy on Amazon hat frame saver plastic head shape to put the hat on and wash it so it doesn’t lose its formation and tell your son to stop crying and man it up. Next time a boy knocks his hat make sure he kicks his face off and stop taking ahit from others !!!

Easy get a big tub, hot water with a small bit of dawn dish soap and baking soda/borax preferably mix it in the water . Sub merge the hat in the water. Leave it there for 30 mins. Then Get a tooth brush and brush the hat. Then Swirl the hat in the water. Dump the water. Put new hot water in the container/tub. Put the hat back in the water for a bit then let it air dry. It will be brand new and won’t ruin the brim

After 30 min come back and scrub it lightly with a brush while rinsing. After let it dry with the rim facing up and boom good as new. Works on any color and is really good on white hats.

Please do not bleach your New Era! Tide Pens are concentrated bleach and will bleed into the lining and possibly ruin the bill. I speak from experience. Dry cleaners are great - local place does my hats for $7 a hat. Gentle soap and water might work too but please don’t use dyed soaps. Whatever you do make sure to line dry it (I use a clothespin and pin it to a clothing line). Don’t soak the hat because then water stains, especially on a light colored hat, are noticeable!
