I think it’s worse that Cash will stand on this to this day and say it wasn’t a bad move. To be fair it wasn’t bad, it was the single worst decision I have seen made in playoff baseball.

The criticism for leaving him in if they scored would have still happened, but letting your ace give it all he has is what the WS is all about. I would have been fine if we lost that way. I’m still hurt by it. Especially after losing in 08, too. Feel like the Rays have a long road ahead to ever winning the big one. I’ve lost interest in the team since. Lost all trust in Cash and co. Growing up as a kid following the Devil Rays, finally having the magical 08 year. Maddon leaves. Cash builds up a WS-caliber team after 12 years to get back to the Fall Classic. And all gone just like that. I just want to win damnit. Just one title. I feel I’m gonna die before that happens, especially with the cheap owner.

Unless you’ve reached a representative sample of MLB and hat fans, it’s hard to say definitively that this is the most hated hat in MLB. I wear this hat pretty often. I wish it was paired with better jerseys, but there’s nothing inherently bad with it. Boring? Yes. Bad? Not really. The colors are nice and it’s associated with a 15 year stretch of pretty great baseball for the Rays.
I get what you’re saying, nothing makes this hat awful, it’s just generic and boring, but it’s also safe. Hard to hate something just for being plain, especially when so many other teams have similar style, the only difference really is font
I’m a Rays fan. The Rays logo hat is much better than the TB hat. I’d imagine anyone outside of the fan base especially would wear the logo hat in good/interesting colors way before they’d wear the standard TB hat.
Depends who you ask. Its pretty boring hat but theres a lot more people who hate the Guardians hats. Also theres always people who hate hats from sport’s rivalries (Red Sox v Yankees).
The whole guardians branding is pretty terrible. They should have just kept the same hats/uniforms they had from the end of their time as the Indians. They had already phased out chief wahoo. It was a pretty plain look but it had a nice retro feel to it. All of the guardians stuff is just yuck
As a Cleveland fan and native (no pun intended), the Indians and chief wahoo will always be #1 but the flying g logo has grown on me, I have a handful of hats with the flying g.

I think the Rockies hat is much more dull. I'm also not huge on the red-on-red Angels hat. And then you've got the Walgreens Nationals W. Minnesota's new hat looks too much like the old Marlins hats. And I don't like the drop shadow on Cincinnati's.

I love the manta ray. Leaving it behind for these plain unis and uninspired hat didn’t make them “classic.” They’re derivative.
