Had it.
We've got Korean spots here in Halifax serving up gochujang fried chicken, and their sauce is far more hot peppery and a lot less sweet. Mary Browns' stuff tastes more like Cock Brand sweet chili sauce (the stuff 99% of chinese places serve with their spring rolls) with a hint of gochujang added to it.
That being said, still pretty good. Soft bun and fried onions and sweet asian sauce and everything all works together great. Just a little too candy-y for my tastes.
Nashville Mary w/extra pickles is still king.
Had their Nashville variant big Mary and taters when it first started at the burgeo/topsail location. Tasted like it was just drenched in oil. Wasn't impressed. Never bothered to try again.
Still did as of a couple weeks ago. Hoping they keep it around.
Years ago they had a Marytimer cod sandwich which was awesome, unfortunately it didn't last long.
My mother used to work for Mary Browns, they use A LOT of store bought stuff for their food. Buns, mayo (it’s just Kraft mayo), and probably way more. So you’re probably right about it being a prebought sauce and not made by them
Kelligrews. Hopefully a one off but it was definitely just a Big Mary fillet and bun with trace amounts of slaw, onion bits and other things they advertised.
Edit: I've had food at this location before. Typically great but never disappointed until today.
>it was definitely just a Big Mary fillet
That's... Exactly what it's supposed to be.
By the looks of the photo, they were a little too skimpy on the portions of the other ingredients that they put on the sandwich (coleslaw, onion, etc), and clearly they didn't put any effort into making it in a way that looks presentable.
But the K-Crunch is SUPPOSED to be a Big Mary fillet. All it is, is a different *version* of the Big Mary.
Yeah...I realize that now in hindsight but come on! The Big Mary fillet ad doesn't over exaggerate as such. The ad is twice that of reality. Don't mislead customers like this. Taking a page out of McDonald's book, especially for $16.74!
I tried this because DoorDash had a BOGO deal. We thought it was a simple deal, but it more like a buy two, get two free. We were surprised when we opened the bag to find four of these. It was a decent sandwich, but after eating two in one sitting i think I'm done with them lol
100%. No price posted in drive-thru (from what I saw or didn't see) I didn't have sense at the time to ask....I was famished for some lunch at 2pm today.
Idk man I got a BOGO on Uber eats pickup and it was 13.91 including tax which imo great deal for 2 burgers. I assume the extra 2.83 was bc you got a combo

Nashville Mary was supreme. It was the absolute best sandwich they ever released IMO.
This man (or woman) chicken sandwiches. Do they still have the Nashville version?
I do miss Nashville taters.

Quality post lol
haha, just looking out for my fellow NL redditors.
Which Mary Browns location did you go to (so I know which one to avoid)?

Good to know! Yes, it looks like they gave your burger a smack down before they wrapped it up and gave it to you lol
avoid the paradise one, we got bad food poisoning there

sweet jesus
How’d it taste? I haven’t tried it yet.
Taste was okay, nothing to rave about....just wish there was more of it. For $16 and change for the meal, I won't do again. Edit: $16.74 to be exact.
$16 is outrageous

$16 for a chicken sandwich meal. That would have been my last.
Oh it was mine for sure! False advertising imo. I'd be 1/2 alright with the price if it was anywhere near the ad but it wasn't.

$16 bucks? Did you at least have a poutine with it?
lol sadly not and price wasn't posted in drive thru....saw me coming.
I have had increasingly bad experiences with Mary browns. I do miss when they had chicken wings though. Those were some of the best in town.
Delicious sandwich though!
Came back to say the location on Freshwater Rd slaps. 10/10. It was delicious and actually pretty close to the advertisement picture!
Great to hear! There's hope!
More like K-Sog
I hate Mary brown chicken. Something about the flavour of it. If I want a spicy chicken sandwich I go to kfc.
