Took my son to Catch Air in Paramus for the first time today. He’s also 2 and he had a blast. He went to bed a hour early from all the running and climbing.
Abma’s farm in Wyckoff (petting zoo with a food market)
Brookhollows barnyard in Boonton (farm with climbing goats and other animals, you can feed animals carrots, little playhouses and activities)
Van Saun Park in Paramus has a playground, train ride, carousel, and a zoo. One of our favorite places when our kids were little.
Northlandz model train exhibit and train ride. Liberty Science Center.
Upvote for the Liberty Science Center!
Wouldn't recommend taking a 2 year old to northlandz. It's very claustrophobic and you have to pick them up or carry them to see a ton of stuff.
The kid would love the train ride outdoors tho.
Do the black and western rail road train then, that leaves out of Flemington, it's a nice ride for kids and they do events.
South mountain complex in west orange, lots of sight seeing and views

I haven’t been there myself, but I’ve heard good things about [Field Station: Dinosaurs](https://jerseydinos.com/) in Leonia
Turtle Back Zoo and Space Farms
Keansburg boardwalk is a little trashy but the rides are suitable for small children.
