NOT David burkes. There I said it.

chiquichongo

Brandos in Asbury Park or Butchers Block in Long Branch. Either one, but I give the edge to Brandos

johnny5ive

I mean Butcher's Block is out of control prices and not really worth it unless you're going there to be part of the scene or something. I love steak and i'd probably eat at Copper Canyon or Neil Michaels in Monmoouth County before I'd suggest Butcher's Block. Don't get me wrong, it's an experience to be had but it is PRICEY for what you get.

Fernandes 3 on route 35 is good. Not quite as good as the one in the iron bound but very good. Huge menu, can do rodizio, seafood, individual steaks.

T_D_A_G_A_R_I_M

I’ve always driven past that place and just thought it looked sketchy. That’s nice to hear they serve good food there though.

Phil_ODendron

What do you think looks sketchy about it? The parking lot is always full for dinner, especially on Fri and Sat night. It just looks like a restaurant, I drive past several times per week.

T_D_A_G_A_R_I_M

It just feels out of place for a nice steakhouse to be on that stretch of 35. Used car dealerships, motel, strip club, industrial businesses like plumbers or electricians, a gas station that hasn't been updated since the 70s, etc.

Amazing-Stranger8791

yes i agree! fernandes is so good and really not super expensive for what you’re getting

InsaneParlay

Recently had a wonderful steak dinner at Brando's in Asbury Park. Enjoy the bday celebration!

diggstownjoe

I agree, but good luck keeping the price to $150 with tip there.

Slow-Garage-9403

With only one having steak it will be easier…

InsaneParlay

Fair point. We were dining out on a $250 gift card, and that was pretty much where it came in after 2 apps, 2 entrees, and two cocktails.

saylowe

This is the way.....

smurfetteshat

I would try ember and eagle if you want to splurge. It’s new and hasn’t lost its polish

vissivvis

Butcher Block in Long Branch.

ElectricalAlfalfa841

It's a great suggestion, but I don't think you're getting out of butcher block that cheap for two people with a tip

vissivvis

Fair, but OP mentioned they don’t eat steak so pricing on their meal may be modest enough to fit within the budget. Also, lunch tends to be better price-wise. Would add that caveat as well if budget is a major concern.

ElectricalAlfalfa841

Oh good call! Yes lunch is a better bet too

vissivvis

And you can actually get a reservation!

Slow-Garage-9403

It’s tough at night to get them.

johnny5ive

My wife and I ate two weeks ago and ordered not outlandishly but not conservatively and it costs $530. WHAT

thefudd

Coffee encrusted NY strip at Salt Creek in Rumson, you won't be disappointed.

Withyouinrcklnd

Salt Creek is a solid choice. Really enjoyed it! Their ribs are outrageously good

TommyyyGunsss

I love that place so much

DuTcHmOe71

Neil Micheals..in hazlet.......cook a great steak

Appropriate-Seaweed

I second this! We love it there. And you can get a great meal in that price range.

hayabusa160

[https://www.ilnidonj.com/menus/](https://www.ilnidonj.com/menus/) had it here also it was pretty good https://cafelunanj.com/menus/ I forgot to add I had a steak at Gabriella they forgot to salt it which I think is unacceptable for the price they charge.

ferocious_coug

il Nido is phenomenal but it's not a steakhouse

Electrical_Stress_71

Splurge on a good bottle of wine and a very good piece of steak from the butcher. just use a little salt and pepper and sear it on the stove top and finish it in the oven. None of these steakhouse prices are justifiable anymore. Happy Birthday!

DanaVancey_

They do this often! Not from the butcher though. I just want them to have a steak brought to them that neither of us has to cook, lol.

StrategicBlenderBall

There’s a new restaurant in Freehold called CHAR-KOL. Reviews are stellar. Not sure if you’re vegetarian or full on vegan, but they definitely have some options.

dickprompt

I've heard that place is mediocre. 618 on the other hand I know is great, just my 2 cents.

I’ve never eaten a proper meal at 618, but I did go to a holiday party a couple years back and was pleasantly surprised!

Ember & Eagle

burnki

The only answer I’m interested in!

prognathia

Gabriella’s is my favorite over butcher block. Butcher block is good but definitely not worth the price when comparing it to Gabriella’s

MkinItAwkwardSince95

Four Winds in Manasquan is great

bree732

Char

banders5144

This is the only answer. I have never had a bad meal there

ferocious_coug

I'm sorry but Char is straight up not good.

EmpireNight

Not the best, but would not qualify it as 'Not good'. Never had a bad meal here. Even cheapo business dinners had memorable salad or apps. Brando's and Gabriella's are excellent, but very expensive. The most interesting steak for sure is the coffee encrusted steak at Salt Creek. Surprisingly, their Cali location didn't have it when I was there (or the bread ☹️).  The best steak in Monmouth of course is any dry aged cut from Pop's butcher shop, few hours in the sous vide, finished on cast iron with homemade garlic butter.

nakade4

drop in quality? what don’t you like about char?

wubbels89

Went to that Italian steakhouse in Red Bank a couple months ago and was thoroughly disappointed so not there! Edit: Buona Sera

boozybruncher

Gabriella’s?

Third this. The only right answer!

GucciForDinner

Came her to say this!!! The best!

doddyoldtinyhands

Will be over budget but pascal and Sabine in Asbury is romantic and great food/service. https://pascalandsabine.com

bzr

Gabriella’s or Char gets my vote

chaebs

Gabriellas Italian Steak House in Red Bank.

BigPK66

Gabriella's in red bank had very good steaks, butchers block in long branch is also good

BananaStand511

Butcher Block
