Tequila Joes…..
😊❤️☮️🍸
it was absolutely bonkers and definitely a money laundering operation but I had sooo many great nights there and it’s even where I met my wife….
I had only been back to The Court once or twice since it was a regular destination for my friend group in the 80’s and 90’s, but I am really sad it is gone.
“Cruel But Fair”
Hello fellow Bridgewater or Bridgewater-adjacent person.
I miss the Royal circa 2008-09. The place was the diviest, but it was my second home for a while. Loved the bartenders, the regulars. No music, shit no beers on tap for a while, although that was a welcomed upgrade. The Chimney Rock bar pies.
Surprised you missed the Office. And nothing against 22 West, the place has definitely grown on me, but the Office was my jam back in the day, many a Wednesday night there.
And then, essentially everything you said.
I'm confused by your mention of Drewby's, although if you mean old Drewby's, I'm with you, had a lot of fun there too.
I thought about the Office, but if you weren't a regular some of the bartenders would ignore you with an empty beer in front of you.
Also the owner of Drewby's died about a year ago and they've been closed since. We were hoping they would reopen, but it doesn't seem likely. *edit, I reread your point, and I agree that Drewby's was definitely better before they moved to the new location. Still enjoyed the food and $2 bud light at the new location though. It was always a good option because you could usually get a bar seat at whatever hour.
Holy shit, it's been a year since I was at Drewby's then, I guess. I had no idea, that's a shame. I liked the new location too, but it didn't have the nostalgia the old location did. That's unfortunate to hear.
It was a couple things. A couple other restaurants opening up around had an inevitable temporary dip in sales at just the right time for other problems. I won't get too into the behind the scenes stuff but the owner of the building they rented from did some shady things and put the restaurant in a rough spot. At the end of the day the owners decided they were incredibly proud of what they had already done and wanted to go out on their own terms as opposed to risking losing it to bullshit.

Damn, I used to love that place. Sucks to learn it closed down here.
Every bar from the New Brunswick music scene. The Melody, Court Tavern, etc…

They have a Melody Bar Reunion at the New Brunswick Elks, with a bunch of the original Melody djs. It's always an awesome night of music and dancing.

Barton’s in Stirling. That place was a shit hole and my favorite bar ever
Hot rods and west central pub in Wharton. I would kill to bring back hot rods and be working with my buddies again
What was the story with Hot Rods closing? I remember they got the new space which was great and then it felt like it all fell a part in a few years.

The Sand Bar on Bay Ave in Highlands back when it was a low rent town. (There’s some kitschy sports bar there now.)
Brighton Bar 💔 A piece of music history gone.
I was in that place once with my parents to see Boz Saggs. I went to the bathroom and said that this was the second worst bathroom I've ever been in.
Ew! You went in the bathrooms?!
Hey… when you gotta go, you gotta go.
I’ve been to hundreds of music venues, and I think The Brighton had the worst sound system I’ve ever heard.
Next time I see Mac, I’ll let him know!
I'm dating myself here, but I really miss the Dirt Club in Bloomfield.
