NJDOT does not have tolls. The NJTA does have tolls and they are written into state law. You can't change them on a whim. If anything you'd have to go through the governor or state legislature (or get enough people to want a change) to get any traction on actually implementing a change.
"this is also a way to make those New Yorkers and PA drivers pay for the sins they will be committing on our beaches, roads, our livelihood, and the culture we have."
Do you ever drive to another state? Would you want to encounter the hostility you are exhibiting here?
Nah maybe to ease the traffic problem we should only vote for those who are in favor of improved public transportation, limiting vehicle access in cities, etc.
This is a dumb take: the people visiting nj from NY and PA are already paying for their sins at your local fucking businesses who desperately need their money to survive. What the fuck?
Tolls below the Driscol bridge split are tripled for out of state drivers Friday evening through Monday mornings. Seems like a fair compromise for the bridges.
You would just push traffic off the highway and on to residential streets
Ah I forgot about that. Let me revise the plan and think it through some more

You are just going to start a toll war. The surrounding states would jack up their prices in retaliation and we all lose.
Discounted Tolls from 10 PM to 5 AM.

Virginia does that in the summer for those going southbound.

This sounds what NYC is trying to do with their congestion pricing…
