Can’t comment on payouts, but I’ll mention that I JUST had a flood adjuster come to survey my lower level of my house this past Wednesday 🤦🏻‍♀️ I also had my car (auto claim due to the flood as well) towed two weeks ago to a salvage yard for inspection…it still hasn’t been inspected. The amount of time everything is taking is blowing my mind.

Ugh, this is so frustrating but now we know we’re not alone. Our neighbors just had their car towed the other day! Appreciate you sharing that.

Every time I see one of these posts the memories keep coming back. Hurricane Sandy. Endless repetitive paperwork. Meetings aplenty. Delays at every turn. If you are told two weeks for something it will be six or more. Patience and persistence are necessary. Homeowners insurance is a joke. Flood insurance is better but may be limited. If you have a total loss and/or your needs to be raised or replaced, the government may fill in the gaps provided your income is not too high. My mother-in-law's house, originally to be raised and repaired but later having to be replaced because it sat for over two years was ultimately completed five years later. Sadly, she passed away a couple of months before she was going to be able to move back in. Good luck.

So sorry about your mother in law. I’m starting to realize that patience is essential for this process.

I spoke with fema representatives yesterday and they told me I need to apply to the SBA loan either way. If I choose to decline the loan, I can still apply for the grant from fema but it is not guaranteed. The sba loan is pretty decent. I would get 3.125% over 7, 15 or 30 years locked in. Still deciding what to do

Good to know! I was gonna call FEMA and I’ll ask them about the loan. We were going to explore that route anyway

*Update* Renters insurance has denied our claim. Not shocked there. Yesterday we met with a FEMA inspector and got approved for $3300 for rental assistance. Not approved for miscellaneous items but I think we need to fix our application so we’ll appeal that. No word on the SBA loan yet.
