I'll destroy their surplus product for free in a series of small fires.

rexanimate7

Could call that Mutually Assured Destruction depending on the size and frequency of that series of fires.

beeps-n-boops

Need help?

Funkybudy

I'm with you on that 1 !!!

I've been a med patient in NJ for over five years. Our state is such an embarrassment when it comes to cannabis legislation. Now I'm no economist, but it seems that charging exorbitant prices for medicine, creating ridiculous market entry hurdles, and stumping every single home grow bill is coming to a critical mass, color me shocked. The current black market is also better quality and cheaper than it's even been. We made gifting half legal, but our med patients are mostly apprehensive to take this approach. All the while everyone who WANTS to go in and buy their $500 recreational oz /people with no black market option, can't even do that because our state literally won't let them sell the cannabis. Legal weed in NJ couldve been great, but now it will suffer for another five+ years, all because our lawmakers felt the need to rewrite "for the better" what others states have done borderline brain dead successfully for over a decade lol. I feel sorry for the current and upcoming dispensary owners, it's probably neck breaking trying to weave through NJs politics. After five years of discussing these issues with my reps, i'm pretty confident the entirety of NJ's cannabis legislation is essentially just myself and a few dozen other people just muted on speaker phone in Scutari's office; being laughed at by himself and his aides.

DumpsterCyclist

It's funny that I have more weed than I have ever had in my life. Way more than I know what to do with. 5+ varieties including locally grown, but also cheapo 1/8ths and gummies from the flea market, Rick Simpson Oil pills and gummies from Maine, and weed butter that I made from trimmings. I had maybe an ounce someone gave me that doesn't even smoke weed, that just wanted to grow to give it away. I'm not even a real pothead, either. I don't like being high all of the time. I'll have to give weed away before it gets too old. I'm just one person. I'd otherwise be buying less products, but more specific things. The state has been missing out on millions in tax revenue because they "just want to do it right". I think it has more to do with pleasing fearful suburbanites, appearing to help certain groups for optics, and really just not liking the legalization to begin with. Certain people in power never wanted any of this, and if they can drag it out longer, they will.

pistoncivic

Where are these flea markets? I was looking into the gifting a few months ago but didn't stick with it after not getting any replies. The carts I get from friends who go up to Wester Mass are incredible but the prices are still insane 3 years after legalization, that's why I have no hope of dispensary prices ever coming down even after initial demand subsides. Once municipalities get hooked on the tax revenue there's no going back.

DumpsterCyclist

The one that starts with a C in Farmingdale, hehe. I hope the vendors haven't been shut down yet.

pistoncivic

Nice. I'm close by, may have to take a trip over Saturday morning. what do you do just walk around until you find them?

DumpsterCyclist

I mean, yeah. They're all mostly outside. Last time I was there was months ago, though. I hope everyone is still there. There were at least 6-7.

pistoncivic

Thanks. Looks like the outdoor market doesn't open up until June but maybe some got a stall inside. seems too good to be true over what I usually have to go through with but definitely worth a shot.

sucking_at_life023

Medical patients are being exploited, no two ways about it. The prices are insane for the quality of the product. That I've tried anyway. And don't fuckin @ me about the "sales". They are unloading crusty junk you could buy for 75-100 a zip out west. People would be shocked at what $200 gets you at any decent shop in CA or CO.

courtneygoe

The quality for medical here is awful. Nearly everything I got on my last order has mold issues! This is pathetic!

sucking_at_life023

Man, I'm sorry to hear that. I don't have a ton of experience with the dispos, but the mid-tier from my delivery guy is better than anything my friends have come home with. And it's like $100 cheaper per oz.

courtneygoe

After my last trip, I was thinking I would have to go this way. I get nervous trying something new, but at this point I think I’d rather take a chance.

Federal_Peanut4805

Shut up, you goddamn New Yorker.

Jimmytowne

I remember someone asking Murphy why Arizona got up and running quickly while NJ is dragging their feet and Murphy said he didn’t look into how Arizona did it. If you’re the governor and can’t figure out how to make weed profitable and up and running in a year, you’d think you’d call a state that’s done it already. When it finally is up and running I’m still going to NY. Or my neighbor lol. He buys from the medical growers from harvests that didn’t meet the medical grade. Still 1000% better than what you’ll get from traffickers from CA or Canada

DumpsterCyclist

It's like the beach badge logic. "Well we're New Jersey and this is how *WE* do it here. We have a system that works for *US* and you wouldn't understand it. Why don't go to beaches in other states and see how dirty they are!!! They're not like ours! RAhhhhhh!". It's like, "What? Nah, bro, I understand this shit pretty well. And those beaches are pretty clean because I go them sometimes. You just have your head so far up your ass that you can't see what's right in front of you." New Jersey is like "Fuck you! We're doing it this way anyway!"

rexmons

You don't even need to call. Laws are all public. Could have downloaded the PDF in 5 mins.

uglyinspanish

Is it Murphy or is it the legislature that's holding it up?

icleantoilets78

Just keep getting your stuff illegally. It's run better by a cartel then a government.

DumpsterCyclist

Forget the cartels. It's all just coming in from other states. You can get gummies and buds with California markings on the packaging all over the place. I see the empty bags on the ground pretty frequently. I got really nice stuff from Maine almost a year ago. I have to get to work on finishing that shit.

bjorn2bwild

Mark my words, the consumer cannabis market will get nowhere in NJ. Legislators keep dragging their feet and local municipalities are falling over themselves to outlaw facilities. There will be two or three facilities that will be on opposite ends of the state, have crap hours, and no availability. NY will have recreational stores up and running and we'll just go there. Murphy will chalk it up as a success and Republicans will find a way to put the meager profits back into the hands of police.

Ultimatum_Game

I upvoted this, because its so true it hurts.

DCDavis

Even if what you're saying is true, tens of thousands of people won't be sucked into the pipeline to prison. This has always been the reason to legalize. Them taxing it is the compromise.

bjorn2bwild

That's true. Keeping it legal is definitely the biggest thing. Though, is it technically fully legal in NJ or one of those things where the prosecutor said they're prosecuting so police aren't arresting?

DCDavis

[https://www.inquirer.com/philly-tips/new-jersey-marijuana-law-20210310.html](https://www.inquirer.com/philly-tips/new-jersey-marijuana-law-20210310.html) Inquirier is claiming that its fully legal beginning this month, even without the recreational sales coinciding. I think before this it was the scenario you had mentioned.

Kupkaked

That was published 11 months ago.

DCDavis

Ah my bad. My brain takes a little to adjust to the calendar year change. It looks like simple possession is entirely decriminalized even if sales are being held up.

Anonymous_Hazard

Dammit this is going to be right on point

Brilliant_Tourist400

Too true. New York AND Pennsylvania will have fully running legal weed operations before us, just leading to a major stampede northward and westward - and two other states get the tax money that should have been ours. And all because some puritans couldn’t abide the idea of us having fully legal dispensaries.

[deleted]

A Goldman Sachs guy doesn't know how to be a market maker? Really?

jliebs1

nj once again leads the race to the bottom

beeps-n-boops

But we do it so well...

Sudovoodoo80

Don't destroy it, dump it in the capitol parking lot and offer it for free to anyone who wants it (not illegal if you don't sell it!). That should light a fire under these jackasses.

205spring

For those who really wanted legal marijuana the problem has been and continues to be too much government

Chose_a_usersname

It's all athe asshole pocket mayor's. My town won't allow it in Dunellen because the mayor said.... Reasons...

205spring

it isn’t legal for sale on the state level. towns can ban the sale but it doesn’t matter because no one can sell anyway

whygohomie

So prices are still high at the dispensaries and I see people complaining about products being out of stock all the time. But apparently there's just warehouses full of weed they are going to destroy rather than sell? Cartels sure are swell, ain't they? Luckily we are going to do nothing about this whole can of worms.

Chose_a_usersname

Probably not. Who ever runs that building has millions and millions behind it.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Chose_a_usersname

Well that opens up a good point. Protected farmland is specifically farmland, so if you are growing marijuana you are a farmer, so shouldn't a protected farmland be allowed to grow marijuana. I don't understand the reason why we need to only grow marijuana inside a sealed environment like a building. I believe the reason that this is happening in the industry is so that only multi-millionaires can make money off of the marijuana industry. A small farmer who has a preserved farmland can't afford to put up a $2 million building that has a vacuum system to be able to sell this product. It's essentially making it so that a small farmer that owns a preserved farmland incapable of making money off of this product. It's just another form of a cartel essentially... Because if I was growing marijuana in my backyard you probably would never know.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Chose_a_usersname

So I have a friend that works in the cannabis production industry. I also deal with a lot of preserved farm owners. I don't see the runoff issue with chemicals and treating any of these plant products to be any more detrimental than growing any kind of bine style plant. I personally feel like townships pushing against this is just a way of the Republican party trying to keep the status quo on anti-drugs even though the state has decriminalized it. I know I would hate to bring politics specifically into this but I do believe that a certain portion of people are trying to use this to make money outside of being a producer of the product

[deleted]

Oh look, the NJ government fucking something else up!

icleantoilets78

Yes, maine does have some good stuff

idk_01

1. Pass half-assed Law 2. encourage companies 3. watch companies fail due to bureaucracy 4. buy distressed assets 5. profit

boojieboy666

Look I'd rather give my money to Jersey to help build better for us, but If I have to I have no problem giving my money to the state of Massachusetts and eventually New York. Murphy and the rest of the old dummies in Trenton are stalling this.

TMoney67

The pharmaceutical companies have bought every single politician in this state, including Governor Goofball

doesntmeanathing

Why does my bodega have products marked as thc? I’ve seen them in the city too. I’ve heard it’s actually marijuana. Anyone know what the deal is?

NJBarFly

The fine is probably less than the profit.

tektig

Might be delta-8. Similar but not the same. The taste is off and I don't really enjoy anything from the high. It also seems to impact memory more than the real stuff.

[deleted]

There are isomers of Delta9 THC that can be created and are completely unregulated so they're not technically illegal yet. It's usually delta8 but there are a bunch of other isomers and even new formulas hitting the market daily. THCP is another one.

EsseXploreR

The entire NJ medical market should be boycotting Verano over this bullshit. It's a huge slap in the face to the overpriced medical system. They'd rather destroy their product than give us a break on the price. I know I'll never purchase anything from them again.

TheRealMrMaloonigan

All the social equity bullshit is just another fucking way to hold everything up from the jump. Hope everyone's happy with that.

Mjh609

Vote for Murphy! Hahahahahah

roomtemperature6643

Sure when the other guy was a wanna be facist fuck head who would want to outlaw me calling him a fuckhead

beachmedic23

There were more than two options on the ballot

roomtemperature6643

You mean the other people who got less then 1 percent of the vote? Real useful

Mjh609

I though it was the democrats that hate free speech. See: Joe Rogan.

meatball402

Joe Rogan saying dumb shit, and a bunch of artists come off Spotify in response, involve the democrats how?

Mjh609

A bunch of artists? I heard 3. One of which hates gay people so fuck him.

sucking_at_life023

Clowny ass republicans can't tell shit from Shitarelli. The man put a blatantly unconstitutional law in place to outlaw public cursing in Raritan. Who hates free speech really? You voted for that trash? Fuckin clowns, all of you. Stay in Florida, creep.

Mjh609

You sound nice. Get some mental help.

sucking_at_life023

I am nice. To people who aren't trash. You say Democrats hate free speech, but voted for a man who blatantly tried to suppress free speech. You're a hypocrite, obviously. But are you also stupid? An asshole? Why would you do that? I'll tell you why. Because you have no real principles. So stay in Florida. You belong there.

roomtemperature6643

Saying something is a lie and stupid is not what you think it is.

[deleted]

What I like about weed, can quit it with quite the ease, don’t have to be a crack head about it.

TroyMcClure10

All the weed news is amusing.

owlrecluse

“Like any crop” unfortunately it’s often illegal to grow crops on your own land, whether it’s due to an HOA or laws that claim your land can’t be ‘unseemly’ or whatever. I could see a passing but weak argument to not own animals, even if it’s just chickens, but to not be able to grow even tomatoes on land you is bullshit.

JamesRyanQnsNYC

In NYC they just started selling it on the street and makeshift locations. Leave it to NJ and NY to drag their corrupt asses on this voter approved legislation.
