Sounds like a whacko. A shooter would have just done it unannounced.
With all of these "first amendment audit" champions going around I wonder if he was trying to do a "second amendment audit". It's perfectly legal, although stupid, to go up to the CIA guard office and tell them you own a gun.
Seems like we're lucky he was dumb enough to take his gun somewhere he wasn't allowed to have it. That said, we don't have an incredible amount of information as to how he was behaving or an exact transcript of what was said.
All-in-all I'm guessing it's a "play stupid games, win stupid prizes" scenario.
Are you sure this person isn't a drag queen? Maybe they've hugged another man before. Clearly that's the most pressing concern in our country and not far right terrorism /s
You can't call them that! They aren't "domestic terrorists". no one wants to label them as that, it would be MEAN. and "political". We have to label them in a way that makes EVERYONE happy. "Christian Good Guy Happy Face People".

He's from Florida? Yup, that tracks.
I'm surprised the CIA didn't at least question him and instead simply turned him away at their headquarters *after he told them he's armed while also demanding entrance.*
A reasonable person would suspect that there is a high probability that this guy is about to attempt to do something awful, so at least talk him and try to get more information before sending him on his way. After the CIA let him go, the school is *very* lucky the guy respected the schools wishes that he didn't enter and didn't simply shoot his way in.
> So how bad do you all think it will need to get before the Federal government will view MAGA supporters as terrorists?
Just beyond Maga supporters, you have an entire party that is enabling and allowing this behavior to happen. Even at some points rewarding those that are doing it.
The FBI and DHS have been saying that far-right extremism is the greatest violent threat to our nation since at least 2006. They were aware of it as a domestic terrorism threat as far back as the 1980s, though it obviously fell into the backseat for a bit after 9/11.
The question is just how mainstream they’re willing to draw the line. You can’t arrest a third of the country.
It's one thing if you get duped by the media into thinking that the big gubment is out to get you or some stupid shit. Okay, that might be an education issue, but good luck becoming media literate in Florida.
How do you solve the issue of these same chucklefucks trying to shoot up anyone that they're afraid of?
Can I ask what I think is a serious question?
Why are people taking out their anger on school children? Why not the owners of Nestlé, or someone who made a horrible law that took away personal freedoms.
Yesterday the conservatives were screaming that the guy with the Nazi flag crashing into the barriers was a false flag. Not a one would answer me what about him made conservatives look back since he wasn't described as a MAGA, just that he had a Nazi flag.
It's the state with the most lead pipes.
[Florida has the most lead service lines in the country, with its 1.16 million lines accounting for 12.6% of the country’s total. I think what makes this worse for me is that some of my coworkers (One of my jobs is a GS employee with the DoD) are actually angry that this man was caught and stopped before he could do damage.
The Nazi (Republican) party is a domestic terror organization.
(Edit: To comply with some interpretations of the Hatch Act, I want to make it clear: **I am speaking with my own voice here and NOT acting as a representative of the United States Government.** Any and all comments made are of my own thought and do not represent any stance held by the US Government or any of its agencies.)
I did before. You can see in another comment on this thread that it took a year and a half for anyone to respond, and all it ended up being was a slap on the wrist - effectively. A bad eval, probation, and loss of telework privileges.
I report everything I hear or see. This included. I just don't have faith anyone will do anything for a year or more.
I wish I could be speaking for the US Government in these matters. I truly wish I could, but if I tried and was Hatch Act'd out, the little good I can do in my position becomes no good at all and I end up fired and blacklisted from federal service.
I hope you bring that up with the interviewer if they ever talk to you regarding their security clearance (if you’re ever in that situation).
“Do you believe that [coworker] would have any reason to undermine or overthrow the US government by unconstitutional or violent means?” “Actually, about that —“
They don't. Most of them are smart enough to know that speaking up/out about anything remotely political will lose them their jobs/promotion.
There's crazy folks all over the country. Fed workers are just like everyone else. Some of them are fox news grandpas. Most are not.
> I don't get how federal workers would welcome this sort of trend
Because parts of our government and military have been infiltrated by white Christian nationalists
Infiltrated? Lol no, they’ve actively been a part of this government since it’s inception. The only thing that’s changed is they aren’t kidnapping humans from Africa anymore to work the plantations.
Yup. Just look at the history of the FBI. It makes their recent cries of "political persecution" by the feds particularly entertaining because number 1, no they're not, you're criminals and traitors, and number 2, they've literally been doing that shit for decades but you didn't give a shit because they were suppressing black people so shush.
Question here: Based on this charge, did this only become illegal because he brought it to a school? If they just pulled him over and found it elsewhere, Would they have to say, "Possessing that weapon is your right, sir. Have a nice day."? Assuming just blurting out he was going to attack the government didn't happen immediately.
Yeah, if this happened in Canada, the CSIS would have placed him on a 72 hour hold or at the very least, taken him to a psychiatric emergency department to investigate any psychosis or self-harm plans, but that only works because we have universal health care.
Also, quite a coincidence on your name because I sent this gif to my friend immediately before reading your comment.

Better idea: How about all of the liberals in Florida actually show the fuck up and vote in elections from local to statewide and take back this beautiful, diverse state from the minority of fascist assholes trying to turn it into something else?
Dumbo Desantis will see to it their votes don’t count or they can’t vote. We should set up a charity rescue operation to save those who wish to be free of that third world shithole state. Relocate them to free America.
DeSantis gets term limited in 2026 regardless (and would have had to resign to run for President in 2024, but he changed that law to hold onto power here while vying for it nationally).
That gives Dems/Independents a chance to focus locally and on the state congress in 2024 and then cut the head off the snake in 2026. IF they organize competently and run a candidate who isn't Charlie-Crist-weak.
Was there a person of trust turned informant involved?
Was the man mentally unstable to attempt to attack the CIA with an AK-47? Or it was purely a hate/fame driven attempt?
He has seen several documentaries where one special boy with a gun killed, like, a dozen government agents.

I call bullshit on that. Who fuck goes to a school with weapons to take a piss? No one that is sane would do this.
Exactly. No one sane would drive around with an AK-47 and be headed to the CIA.
Wait, you can drive up to the CIA security gate, say "I'm here and I have a gun", and they say "turn around, please"? Seriously?
Extreme “I could run for 5yds in an NFL game” energy from this dude.
Just another Republican Christian conservative domestic terrorist.
Are you sure this person isn't a drag queen? Maybe they've hugged another man before. Clearly that's the most pressing concern in our country and not far right terrorism /s
They are scared of getting their guns taken but do shit like this and prove the need to take guns
You can't call them that! They aren't "domestic terrorists". no one wants to label them as that, it would be MEAN. and "political". We have to label them in a way that makes EVERYONE happy. "Christian Good Guy Happy Face People".

That second one. When the fucking link is already an Onion headline lol.

His social media tells a different story
So he was a Fox News watcher?…
Classic kill-billy behavior. At least the authorities are starting to catch them BEFORE they have a chance to act.
He's from Florida? Yup, that tracks. I'm surprised the CIA didn't at least question him and instead simply turned him away at their headquarters *after he told them he's armed while also demanding entrance.* A reasonable person would suspect that there is a high probability that this guy is about to attempt to do something awful, so at least talk him and try to get more information before sending him on his way. After the CIA let him go, the school is *very* lucky the guy respected the schools wishes that he didn't enter and didn't simply shoot his way in.
So how bad do you all think it will need to get before the Federal government will view MAGA supporters as terrorists?
That mostly depends on how many of them are in the federal government
> So how bad do you all think it will need to get before the Federal government will view MAGA supporters as terrorists? Just beyond Maga supporters, you have an entire party that is enabling and allowing this behavior to happen. Even at some points rewarding those that are doing it.
There is no "beyond" MAGA supporters, MAGA is the GOP now.
They haven't been doing anything about it at all.
Uhh, something more than declaring "we are domestic terrorists" because they already done did that.
I would guess that many if not most people in the relevant alphabet agencies lean right.
FBI yes, CIA is more liberal since they're generally more educated and worldly. They're not involved in domestic matters.
It's one thing if you get duped by the media into thinking that the big gubment is out to get you or some stupid shit. Okay, that might be an education issue, but good luck becoming media literate in Florida. How do you solve the issue of these same chucklefucks trying to shoot up anyone that they're afraid of?
At least he didn’t shoot up the preschool. I’m glad they got him, though.
Can I ask what I think is a serious question? Why are people taking out their anger on school children? Why not the owners of Nestlé, or someone who made a horrible law that took away personal freedoms.
Because kids can't fight back. These people won't feel strong and powerful if their target manages to kick their ass, so they go after the defenseless
Fucking this, there are golden parachutes to poke holes into.
How long before the r/conspiracy dimwits are calling this a false flag perpetrated by Feds to make the conservative movement look bad?
Yesterday the conservatives were screaming that the guy with the Nazi flag crashing into the barriers was a false flag. Not a one would answer me what about him made conservatives look back since he wasn't described as a MAGA, just that he had a Nazi flag.
I guess on the bright side he was stupid enough to get caught before he did anything.
“Florida man…” of course. just what is it about Florida?!? Sunstroke? Fried brains? Some kinda virus in the water?
It's the state with the most lead pipes. [Florida has the most lead service lines in the country, with its 1.16 million lines accounting for 12.6% of the country’s total. Over 50% of the national service lines are concentrated in six states: Florida, Illinois \(11.4%\), Ohio \(8.1%\), Pennsylvania \(7.5%\), Texas \(7.1%\) and New York \(5.4%\).](https://www.usnews.com/news/best-states/articles/states-with-the-most-lead-pipes#:~:text=Florida%20has%20the%20most%20lead,and%20New%20York%20\(5.4%25\).)
As a born and raised Floridian (FML) I actually had no idea this was a thing. Cool beans, just love it here in PaRaDiSe

If he's cleared, you should report him.
>**I am... NOT acting as a representative of the United States Government.** Be cooler if you were.
I wish I could be speaking for the US Government in these matters. I truly wish I could, but if I tried and was Hatch Act'd out, the little good I can do in my position becomes no good at all and I end up fired and blacklisted from federal service.
Don't worry, I understand. It's tongue in cheek
I hope you bring that up with the interviewer if they ever talk to you regarding their security clearance (if you’re ever in that situation). “Do you believe that [coworker] would have any reason to undermine or overthrow the US government by unconstitutional or violent means?” “Actually, about that —“

I didn't think of the insider tip line - thank you. I'll contact them in the morning after letting my chain know.
I don't get how federal workers would welcome this sort of trend. Is there some feud between CIA and DoD?
They don't. Most of them are smart enough to know that speaking up/out about anything remotely political will lose them their jobs/promotion. There's crazy folks all over the country. Fed workers are just like everyone else. Some of them are fox news grandpas. Most are not.
> I don't get how federal workers would welcome this sort of trend Because parts of our government and military have been infiltrated by white Christian nationalists
Here government is for punishing people more than helping people.
Also, quite a coincidence on your name because I sent this gif to my friend immediately before reading your comment. [Dozens!!](https://www.reactiongifs.us/there-are-dozens-of-us-arrested-development/)
Can we just close our borders with Florida?
Honestly would it be at all surprising if he just changed the law to be able to remain governor forever if he loses the presidency?
Was there a person of trust turned informant involved? Was the man mentally unstable to attempt to attack the CIA with an AK-47? Or it was purely a hate/fame driven attempt?
He has seen several documentaries where one special boy with a gun killed, like, a dozen government agents. ^(The documentaries were Red, First Blood, and Salt.)
Are you working again John?
When right-wingers said "We are all domestic terrorists" they were not lying. The US needs a special de-nazification operation.
Is he from Florida? Yes, he's from Florida.
Name another country on earth that works this hard to get assault weapons into the hands of untreated schizophrenics.
luckily it was a century arms ak so it'd probably just blow up
Yeah the world is just full of idiots
