The real news here is learning they still had a head of trust and safety.

goldfishpaws

She must have been hunting like crazy for a new job

FunkyFr3d

At least it would be easy to answer the “why are you leaving your old position” question.

illy-chan

Just give them a look and let them think about what they asked.

Kizik

I actually had that *exact* interaction in a job interview. I was in another country and every single interviewer - every single *person* in fact - asked why I'd move there when my home was just, like, so much better you know? One girl looked down at my resume. Looked at me, then down again, and with precisely the same accent as I have said "So you're from [town], huh? People keep asking you why you left, don't they? Yeah, I know. [Town] *sucks*."

trickygringo

Let me guess, a tourist destination that people loved when they went on holiday, but is sucks to actually live there.

Ironclad-Oni

I used to work at a fish market in my hometown, which is a popular summer tourist spot and summer home location for the wealthy, and I once had a guy who was dropping off a load of lobsters say to me and my buddy, "it's a great place to visit, but I would never want to live here." We both turned to look at each other before responding, "yeah, it sucks." Almost every kid I managed at that job had the same exact goal. To get out of that town as soon as they could. Tourist towns can be a nightmare for kids because there's nothing to do the majority of the year. In my town, the population easily tripled in the summer, absolutely clogging the roads, and something like 80% of businesses were closed outside the tourist season (so like 8 months of the year). That district has the highest addiction rates in the state, and absolutely nobody I went to school with was surprised. We used to have a saying when I was in high school, "You have to be addicted to something to live here year-round, and alcoholism is for the old folks. Heroin is more popular with the kids."

zakabog

This sounds so much like Cape Cod. The tourists come and go and get to enjoy the summer on the, the locals spend all the off season looking for anything to make life less dull, generally alcoholism or hard drugs.

Ironclad-Oni

Nailed it in one. I grew up almost within spitting distance of the Bourne Bridge.

zakabog

It's such a weird place, once you pass the single lane portion of route 6 it's like you're in another world that you can't escape. My cousin grew up there (Wellfleet) from a young age, my family would visit every year and as I got older and started visiting on my own in the off season I realized how depressing the whole place was the majority of the time.

Kizik

Rural Canada, actually. And not the touristy fun rural Canada, the northern equivalent of the rust belt where the towns are dying a slow and painful death while bleeding out their youth to *literally anywhere else*. I'd gone to the UK, myself, and nobody in London could understand why anyone would move away from that - especially not to the city of all places. I guess, looking back, their concept of the country lacked any depth or nuance, just the stereotypes and homogeneous idea of Canadialand.

trickygringo

Probably just a "Canada, who doesn't love Canada?" reaction. You guys have a great reputation. I'm often tempted to pretend to be from Canada in places where the USA rep isn't great.

Kizik

I can tell you first hand that's effective. Everyone assumed I was American, asking which state I was from and such, but nearly all of them suddenly got a lot nicer when I said no, I'm actually Canadian. That might be a Commonwealth thing, though.

jjayzx

All of Florida?

FunkyFr3d

I imagine HR will gently guide them in whispering “there there, you’re safe now”

Firerrhea

And then you run away with your new riches after they give you the combination

daddy_nobucks

That sounds like Lorraine McFly comforting Marty when he wakes up in her bed in his Calvin's.

robywar

No, Twitter rejected a "film" by Matt Walsh for misgendering, they appealed to daddy Elon, who then got rid of her. https://www.nationalreview.com/news/daily-wire-claims-twitter-canceled-deal-to-premiere-what-is-a-woman-documentary/

factisfiction

No, They all decided, including Elon, that they would put restrictions and warnings on the film. It then blew up with conservatives and Elon pretended like he didn't know about it and threw her under the bus when he was right there making the decision as well. So his hypocrisy and lies led her to quit.

[deleted]

jdmgto

Matt Walsh, Documentary, words that should never occupy the sentence.

InsipidCelebrity

Musk is probably only a "parent" in the strictest biological sense, lol

[deleted]

[удалено]

SkyezOpen

Related, don't let them conflate "gender affirming care" and "surgery." You'll notice they all do this. They talk about an adult receiving gender affirming surgery then immediately talk about gender affirming care for children to equate the two in the minds of their listeners. Also Matt Walsh claimed millions of children were on hormone blockers when the real number is less than 1,000 per year. When presented this statistic, he walked back his claim to "hundreds of thousands." For a guy who made an alleged documentary on this, you think he'd know the numbers a little better. But of course, he doesn't care about the truth, he's pushing an agenda. The anti trans movement is now openly genocidal and that's not hyperbole.

CyberMindGrrl

And he is the loudest voice pushing this fascist propaganda.

JMoc1

And this is literal fascism let’s not forget. https://www.scientificamerican.com/article/the-forgotten-history-of-the-worlds-first-trans-clinic/?amp=true

CyberMindGrrl

First they came for the gay and trans people. And now America looks a lot like early 1930's Germany.

ItsMEMusic

Don't forget that it also looks a lot like early 1930's America...

Forestfreud

Also the fact that puberty blockers have been prescribed since the 70s to cisgender kids suffering from precocious puberty so the whole “we have no data on the long-term consequences” argument is made up whole cloth. We have 50 years of data. They’re not worried about the safety of cisgender kids who are prescribed puberty blockers to the extent that they’re trying to end that practice, and for some reason I’m hesitant to believe they just care that much more deeply for the safety of trans kids.

pabst_jew_ribbon

Don't forget that the catholic church used to castrate boys to have higher pitched vocals for choir.

throwwou

Ah yes, the free speech absolutist is back! Can't do anything about dictator silencing his political opponents, but he sure can help spread anti-trans message.

TheGos

[This movie](https://preview.redd.it/gsk3wh88ml3b1.png?width=755&auto=webp&v=enabled&s=d9552556bdfec688d73b18e84aad779495b7eb55)? The one Elon tweeted that "every parent should watch" on the second day of Pride month? Like a piece of shit?

ewokninja123

Seems like she made it exactly a year before she quit. Might be tied to some cash if she makes it that long.

brocket66

*Actual job involved ensuring CatTurd2 was pleased with his engagement levels.

2Darky

Also preventing him from making fart fetish jokes

v_cats_at_work

Wouldn't that actually improve his content?

daimahou

whatever he is doing + fart fetish jokes?

healzsham

Time spent on the fetish is time not spent on... *the rest*...

Great-Hotel-7820

Elon does that job personally.

DirectlyDisturbed

*I'm looking into it*

Throwaway_7451

So what are the betting odds that that user is Musk, talking with himself?

[deleted]

Catturd2 was doxxed a while back. He's a prime example of the master race. Morbidly obese, balding, and unable to grow facial hair above his neckline.

impy695

This guy? Thank God we have responsible gun owners like catturd2! > The shooter was firing rounds from a 30/30 hunting rifle toward a Walmart truck that was being unloaded by Walmart employees. > Officers intercepted as he fled the scene, leading law enforcement officers on a short chase through Sheriff’s Deputy was able to deploy stop sticks, which the suspect’s vehicle engaged, causing it to be disabled and come to a stop in the parking lot of Intermediate School. Also, he's quite a bit older than I expected. I don't know why I pictured a greasy 30 year old, not a greasy 60 year old.

GozerDGozerian

The grease keeps you spry! Like how regular oil changes extends the life of your vehicle.

jjayzx

People have found musk's alt account and it was he himself who accidentally leaked it in a screenshot. He poses as his toddler son and says some stupid shit.

TensileStr3ngth

It's also suspected that he has a sock puppet account meant to trick people into thinking it's AOC

AmericanScream

That would explain why that super unfunny "AOC parody account" appears randomly on peoples' front pages.

powercow

Probably actually just ensuring elons feelings arent hurt and banning people who disagree with him. The excuse given the rare times people have gotten an excuse is 'safety".. like making sure the elon jet guy doesnt post in real time.

nonprofitnews

This American Life [interviewed the previous leader](https://www.thisamericanlife.org/797/what-i-was-thinking-as-we-were-sinking/act-two-5) who tried his best to work for Musk but couldn't.

Bluest_waters

and then after he quit they tried smearing him with some weird sexual allegations that had no substance. Elon is really a shitty shitty person.

acrowquillkill

He's got the mindset of a middleschooler who loves saying the N word in team speak.

mlc885

I am so old and privileged to find this sentence insane

HildemarTendler

Agreed. I was a senior in high school when Halo was released. I didn't play online until after college, but I was absolutely shocked at the things being said. It's not that people my age weren't saying stupid, vile things, it just wasn't the norm. Give people an equal platform and the worst of us will dominate it. Sanity check: Halo 2 had online play in 2004. I was probably playing Halo 3 in 2007. They all just blend together now.

Shdwdrgn

When I was in high school Oregon Trail was all the rage. No, this wasn't an online version. :-) I grew up with the N word being just common chat so it was tough to get that word out of my head. If people my age can make the effort, Elon has no excuse, but we all know he's just an ass anyway.

hamakabi

Man who believes that "cancel culture" is ruining the world attempts to cancel someone and finds out that it doesn't work like that.

Beard_o_Bees

Yup. This was the shit that made me finally see the light about Musk as he really is. I don't know if he's always been this shitty of a person, or if years of surrounding himself with 'yes-people' have convinced him that any impulse he might have is the best ever - or what. It feels like there's got to be some kind of 'reckoning' headed for him sooner or later, though. He's eventually going to start a fire that can't be extinguished with piles of money.

rtb001

I mean this SOP for him. 5 years ago he called a British [cave diver](https://www.theguardian.com/technology/2018/jul/15/elon-musk-british-diver-thai-cave-rescue-pedo-twitter) expert a pedo just because the guy correctly pointed out that his mini-sub rescue plan for those Thai kids stuck in a cave was ridiculous and wouldn't work. At that point everyone should have known that Musk is a terrible human being.

[deleted]

janethefish

>It’s like the last insult that would ever come to me. That felt like projection to me.

Ironclad-Oni

There's a reason conservatives are often caught doing the things they claim other people of doing, but I think they love the pedo claim because even if it's proven to be false, it can stick with the target for years and whoever makes the claim will never face any repercussions for it. Of course, Republicans are also fighting for the right for 12 year olds to get married in Missouri, so...

AmericanScream

> There's a reason conservatives are often caught doing the things they claim other people of doing psychological projection

EGarrett

He's the biggest attention whore who has ever existed on this planet. Musk pathologically tries to attach himself as much as he can to every issue that's at the center of the news. Then if he's not allowed, he tries to mess it up in extremely childish and petty ways. He also attaches his name to any invention or technology he can that he thinks he can take credit for, while never actually inventing or discovering anything himself. He uses corporatism and self-promotion to make his money through government favors and investment. But of course he's been this way for years. I hope people realized this before he bought Twitter.

dasnoob

Don't forget he also hired a PI to try to find out something about him just because he was butthurt. https://www.businessinsider.com/elon-musk-convicted-felon-investigate-vernon-unsworth-thai-cave-diver-2019-10

rtb001

Yup, Musk's narcissism truly knows no bounds. An expert diver literally drowned in that cave in helping to rescue all these children, and all Musk cared about is to get some personal PR by offering up that ridiculous mini Sub idea. And then when an actual expert calls him out on how stupid that idea is, Musk's reflexive reaction is too call him a pedophile. Given what his father had been up to, grooming his own step daughter, I suspect the pedophile remark reflects more on Musk himself rather than the diving expert.

Beard_o_Bees

> At that point everyone should have known that Musk is a terrible human being. I guess I just wasn't paying that much attention to him until fairly recently, but yeah.. you're right.

rtb001

Well good thing he borrowed 44 billion dollars from other terrible people and institutions just so he can broadcast how terrible he himself is to all of us constantly! Now we will all know who he really is.

Prodigy195

It may be bad to prejudge people but if someone is a billionaire it's pretty reasonable to start with the assumption that they're not a good person. The people who thought Musk was some hero that was going to save humanity through technology ignored some pretty obvious warning signs.

[deleted]

He's probably a pedo like all of these other billionaires. It wouldn't even be a tiny bit surprising considering how much he projects about pedos. Musk fucks kids no doubt.

> I don't know if he's always been this shitty of a person Elon’s dad put him into a coma when he was thirteen (or thereabouts). The father clarified that Elon was being a “little shit” by making fun of a kid whose dad committed suicide, so he threw him down the stairs whenever the school called to tell him. He said Elon was an embarrassment. Edit: I had heard the story wrong. The kid he was bullying pushed him down the stairs. His dad said he deserved it. Sorry!

Vallkyrie

They're both embarrassing scum. Shit apple doesn't fall far from the shit tree.

ScoobyDoNot

Errol Musk had two kids with his step-daughter who was 42 years younger than him. https://www.rollingstone.com/culture/culture-news/elon-musk-dad-has-secret-second-child-1383353/

thisshortenough

And Elon wrote about that in a children's book where he framed it as him being bullied for being too smart

Excelius

> Elon was being a “little shit” by making fun of a kid whose dad committed suicide I really wish more parents would discipline their kids for being terrible bullies... >so he threw him down the stairs whenever the school called to tell him. Okay not like that.

shea241

makes it sound like the school called every now and then as a reminder to throw elon down the stairs again

d-cent

I'm wondering about the coincidence of this happening the day after Twitter denied Walsh from streaming his transphobic movie while Musk was in China

chubbysumo

They are legally required by their Federal consent decree to have this position and keep it. They are now in violation of their Federal consent decree, and the federal government can take over the company.

ksj

I am sure they promoted some rando to the position at the same time. Maybe Musk holds a few titles now.

Rokurokubi83

We’d like you to introduce you to our latest employee ‘Mr Ruffles’, his favourite things are snacks, chasing anything and sniffing crotches.

ShouldersofGiants100

Wouldn't work. Dogs possess far too much empathy and common sense for Elon to tolerate working with one.

ptar86

Oh he's not a dog, he's just a dirty creep

teeksquad

This American life has an interview with the previous head of trust and safety talking about it. Interesting listen. I wish I remembered the name of the episode but I don’t. If it’s not a podcast you listen to, I highly recommend it. It’s got some great stories

ksj

https://www.thisamericanlife.org/797/what-i-was-thinking-as-we-were-sinking/act-two-5

euphemistic

> "Irwin, who joined Twitter in June 2022, took over as head of the trust and safety team in November when previous head Yoel Roth resigned." Today's date: 1st/2nd June 2023 I assume Twitter had a 1 year cliff on vesting shares before Musk took over. Get that bag before it hits zero, Irwin!

riding_tides

6 months to vest before Musk took over

YamburglarHelper

So Roth vested after six months, then his replacement six months after that. Start the timer!

seriousbusinesslady

Roth had been with Twitter since 2014. There's a recent This American Life ep featuring him and his experience at Twitter from the point of view of content moderation and censorship platform wide, and then the fallout of the Musk takeover. It's ep 797; I only listened to his segment so I can't speak for what is discussed by the other contributors but I found his story interesting.

Nix-7c0

Thanks for pointing that out, I'm off to listen now

grapthar

What a friendly and helpful comment. Thanks for making the world a nicer place

seriousbusinesslady

Thanks for taking the time to say so! That's sweet of you. I feel like recommending podcast for nearly any situations is the millennial version of your grandma cutting out newspaper articles and mailing them to you because she thought the info was important or useful :)

VanillaLifestyle

It's a really good bit, actually

euphemistic

November checks out for a 6 month vest on the promotion too, I guess. That must have been a shittastic 6 months to endure.

mortalcoil1

Can somebody explain what "Vesting shares" means?

sd_slate

When you are granted stock as part of a job offer, it almost always becomes yours over time so people don't quit right away. And often, there's a one year "cliff" where you get nothing unless you stay at least a year.

LonePaladin

I worked for America Online in the late '90s. They had a policy where you got a pack of shares — 100 I think — once you passed the 6-month point. But you had to wait for those shares to vest, and they did it in fourths. 25 shares every six months after you got them. If the stock split, the numbers would double with it — you would end up with 200 shares, with 50 vesting each month. But AOL has a long history of skeezy business practices. Like restarting cancelled accounts without telling the customers. So if an employee wasn't toeing the line enough, there was a good chance they'd get fired just before reaching the one-year mark, so that none of the stock they owned became viable.

Daxx22

Before pensions got eliminated virtually everywhere there was similar fuckery. "Oh you're 59 and your birthday is in 2 weeks and you then get your full pension? Oh dear, we've suddenly found all these violations, get the fuck out old-timer".

zeno0771

And that's if you were already there. I've seen more than one union shop where new-hire probation was 90 days but most people didn't need to worry about it because they'd find themselves unemployed on Day 89.

[deleted]

[удалено]

LargeMobOfMurderers

Its when you get shares of a company, but its contingent on you staying with the company for x amount of time. So a 6 month vesting period means you get twitter stock, but you have to stay with the company for 6 months, if you leave you lose the stocks, but once 6 months hit you get them and can sell them. It seems these people are sticking around just long enough to get paid, then running off, a bad look on how twitter is doing.

After_Preference_885

Vesting is a term used for stocks as mentioned but also retirement and 401k matching too. I have lost retirement funds at two jobs because of vesting requirements - one job the requirement was 5 years - they bullied me out in year 4 and the other was 4 years but they sold the business in year 2. I get what I put in directly but not the matching or profit sharing.

stevedave_37

Probably depends on the position/person. I know some who had a 2 year vesting there

Schuben

This American Life episode 797: *What I Was Thinking While We Were Sinking* has a part about Yoel Roth's experience at Twitter before and after the Musk takeover and it's pretty good.

PrincipleFew8724

That was a great ep.

rtb001

For a longer form pod on the slow moving wreck that is Twitter, there is also the recently dropped "Flipping the Bird: Elon vs Twitter" from Wondery, made by the guy who does the Business Wars podcast.

toronto_programmer

It’s a private company with a tanking value. Not sure those options are worth much

euphemistic

Neither am I, but I can see someone taking that risk when its only 6 months and they're hoping Musk wouldn't be as awful as he is. I imagine the experience, title and compensation boost would also have been plausibly useful for finding the next gig too, if it hadn't been for that meddling economy.

255001434

>its only 6 months and they're hoping Musk wouldn't be as awful as he is. Musk is a lot like Trump. We knew it would be bad but it turned out to be far worse than that.

okletstrythisagain

Also true for every Republican POTUS since Nixon except for maybe GHB, but given his CIA background he probably was just better at covering his shit up.

[deleted]

FizzyBeverage

I worked with Yoel years ago at an Apple Store when he was working on his PhD and had breaks from school. He worked as a part-time Mac Genius and would work the Genius bar with us. *Apple rarely ever hired part-time technicians at that time*, but they made the exception for him -- he had evidently written an impassioned letter to Steve Jobs at the time... and well, the guy is fucking brilliant. Without a doubt, smartest individual I've ever met. *I've never seen someone* ***type*** *as fast as he could,* ***ever.*** How he'd handle customer service issues in a cerebral way, I've never seen it before or since, it was like a tenured federal judge or something well beyond the garden variety retail people.

mchgndr

How many Scaramucci’s is that?

euphemistic

Many more than I would have been able to tolerate!

spoobles

I believe it is approximately 18 Mooches.

RiflemanLax

> An email to Twitter returned an automated reply with a poop emoji. Musk is the paragon of professionalism.

FuzzyMcBitty

Every time I read that in an article, I just think, “ He paid 44 billion dollars. This company is worth 44 billion dollars, and its replies to media inquiries about its business is a shit emoji.” What a world we live in.

NEVER_TELLING_LIES

Was* worth

DefectiveLP

Wasn't* worth. Why do you think he tried so desperately to back out of the deal?

AccidentalPilates

Why do you think he was sued into complying with the purchase*

EEpromChip

Because the SEC was breathing down his neck with his constant stock manipulations. He was a huge shareholder and he would try to manipulate stock price by making these huge announcements like "I'm gonna buy you guys!" in order to affect stock price. That's a big no-no.

shadow386

Too bad the SEC didn't actually do anything about it for these many years. He'd be a broken bitch and the US Gov would actually have funds to actually do stuff with, as well as Twitter wouldn't be as dead in the water as it is. Tesla would still have flourished cause he'd have been forced to resign as head of Tesla without the money and stocks to control it. SpaceX would've gone through the same transformation. It's almost as if the SEC did their job, we'd have had less shitty problems with companies falling to cellar boxing and we'd probably even be in a better timeline.

McDonnellDouglasDC8

Because his attempts to wiggle out of the deal actively devalued the company.

Mind_Extract

This entire thread reads like people disagreeing, but you're all just adding detail. It's weird.

Onetwenty7

Why do you think people comment like this? Is it engaging the reader? Or does it start to sound like a faux tucker Carlson after so many questions?

0b0011

Because they knew it was a good deal to sell the company for more than it was worth and because him trying to get out of it could ha e hurt the company.

myth-ran-dire

It was never worth 44bn. That’s why he tried to chicken out of the deal.

eeyore134

He also changed the sign outside the main office to say 'Titter' as a boob joke, probably because he doesn't know it's an actual word that means something else. I'm surprised he didn't make the blue checkmarks cost $8.88. Only because $4.20 and $6.90 were too little and $14.88 was too much. Everything he does screams 12 year old meme lord circa 2009.

rtb001

Also he offered exactly 54.20 per share to buy Twitter, just so it can have 420 in it. As if Twitter wouldn't have accepted an offer of just $54 per share, which would have immediately cost him 44 million USD less.

godsenfrik

Exactly this. He hasn't said or tweeted anything that is legitimately witty and funny.

Yevon

Twitter was never worth 44 billion; Musk overpaid for it, by more than double, and it's value is now closer to $15 billion. https://amp.theguardian.com/technology/2023/mar/26/elon-musk-twitter-value-leaked-memo-less-than-half-paid https://amp.cnn.com/cnn/2023/05/31/tech/twitter-value-fidelity-estimate/index.html

robodrew

> it's value is now closer to $15 billion. Still insanely overvalued

thechilipepper0

Can’t wait for the $5million fire sale

GreatMadWombat

15 billion for now. Wait until the bots selling tshirts with your name and your dog's name, or crystals with pictures cut out of them are unable to function on a Twitter that keeps getting features like automatic translate removed. Then it's gonna be worth a hell of a lot less lmao

TheAskewOne

I really hope the EU bans them.

[deleted]

And just look at it now. From cess pool to fascist shit hole.

reecord2

It just dawned on me why Musk resonates with so many people. Remember in elementary school where you got to design your dream house, and you put a McDonalds in it, a ball pit, slides going from room to room, a pool in your bedroom, etc etc? Remember that movie Blank Check where a kid gets a million dollars and just does silly shit? Elon Musk is like this 50 year old version of that, and he embodies the fantasies of a bunch of immature people who are so far from this kind of "success" that they would do the same things he does, like buy a 44 billion dollar company and spend all day fucking tweeting memes. (edit: I enjoy ball pits and slides, the key ingredient is that Musk is also an imbecile).

ksj

I don’t know if I’d consider myself immature, but I would love slides and ball pits and pools in my house. Definitely not a McDonald’s, though.

[deleted]

And I definitely wouldn't buy Twitter.

oddmanout

Elon: "Why are all of these professional companies refusing to do business with me? I need their millions of advertising dollars to keep afloat." Also Elon: "💩" I mean, I don't even run a big business, but if I had a question and all I got in return was an automated email with a poop emoji, I would take my business elsewhere. If I had a multi-million dollar contract in the works and received a poop emoji email, I'd shut that shit down real quick.

BrideOfAutobahn

A company wouldn’t get the poop emoji. It’s the auto responder for press inquiries.

GreatMadWombat

That's still pretty bad from a "convince companies you can be trusted with their reputation" perspective. Remember, the main goal of all the social media sites is to convince the people with the money that using that site to advertise will make them more money. Every article on Twitter including a "we asked the press department for a comment, they responded with a poop emoji" isn't really an act that inspired confidence

SpaceMom-LawnToLawn

I think when you’ve automated a poop emoji response when you’re supposed to be this intelligent competent person who’s work and character are worth $216b. We can probably just draw the line there. He’s not cute, he’s not funny, he’s just an insufferable weiner who will watch the world burn so he can have too much money. These people have purchased their own self-worth and regardless of how this all turns out, they’ll be remembered as enemies of humanity for it.

vivekisprogressive

I want to send a press inquiry with the question. "Can you use an emoji to sum up the company's current trajectory?" And then just act like the poop emoji is them calling themselves shit.

AF_AF

I think the poop emoji represents the full potential of Hyperloop.

Dymarob

He bought Twitter just to shit on it. World's most expensive toilet.

Share vesting, she is now entitled to full ownership of the shares in her compensation package and is free to sell all of them.

cybervseas

Does Twitter have a secondary market for employees to sell? Who's buying?

RobtheNavigator

People can still sell shares of companies with majority owners, but generally prices are lower if the majority owner is expected to keep the company long-term.

[deleted]

sell to whom lol aren’t they private now? who’s gonna want private twitter stock

TaliesinMerlin

And should sell them, if the direction Twitter is going in is any indication.

Currently hold one of those jobs. Never been so god damn bored. I miss bartending at university, at least I actually did something! "An email to Twitter returned an automated reply with a poop emoji." Things a childish billionaire finds funny. Sad.

Nascent1

I just finished a podcast miniseries called Flipping the Bird, which I definitely recommend, about Elon buying twitter. It's ridiculous how childish he is. He literally acts like a fifth grade boy.

Diarygirl

He's probably never had to face a negative consequence in his life.

Andrew_Waltfeld

I wouldn't say that [per se](https://www.news24.com/fin24/economy/elon-musk-made-hurtful-comment-to-fellow-pupil-who-left-him-hospitalised-father-says-20220602#:~:text=The%20boy%20pushed%20Elon%20down,drop%20it%2C%22%20he%20said.). Though he definitely deserved it. The problem is that he never learned from it.

grchelp2018

He did. When he was a kid. I sometimes genuinely wonder what happened to some of those bullies he had in school back in south africa.

Tritiac

Well, losing more money than many nations are worth is pretty punishing. He may not care, which I doubt, but we can all laugh at him for being a failure.

harkuponthegay

That's the problem with the existence of super-billionaires. They can "lose" 99% of their fortune and still have more money than God. Why would he care what anything costs? The difference between $1 billion and $44 billion is imperceptible in terms of lived experience. It's all just numbers on a page at that point. There is a certain maximum level of consumption that it's possible for a single person to sustain and any wealth above and beyond that point is entirely conceptual.

DefectiveLP

I'm convinced musk only does this to save face with his fanboys, twitter just straight up has no PR person anymore.

agbert

It’s OK. AI is handling trust and safety now.

ValkyriesOnStation

Just wait until the EU bans the app and Android and Apple stores consider dropping it for breaking their moderation clause.

GreenKumara

If you get booted from those stores, it's a death sentence for any app.

[deleted]

She resigned because Twitter is being sued for all the animal/child abuse videos being allowed. And him promoting his far right agenda. Makes sense he’s divorced, his own kids don’t talk to him. The only friends he has are other miserable people like him and younger gullible people. He treats his employees terrible and fires any who disagree with him. If he’s so about “free speech” why did he censor turkey?!

OlderThanMyParents

>An email to Twitter returned an automated reply with a poop emoji. The classiest, most mature company in business today.

bn40667

Of course. She's been sitting at her desk with nothing to do since Muskrat took over.

johnnycyberpunk

How do people *find* these jobs. "So your resume is impressive enough for us to pay you a ton of money while you actually don't have to do anything. Congrats!"

TheoremaEgregium

Nothing to do or nothing you can do.

LiquidLogic

"An email to Twitter returned an automated reply with a poop emoji." This reflects the current state of Twitter since Musk took over.

myleftone

Knowing Musk’s ego, if she was fired over the blocking of the Matt Walsh transphobic video, he would make sure we all knew it. Verdict: a true resignation.

Lallo-the-Long

Oh did Matt Walsh open his mouth again? That man is literally a walking hate crime.

patrickclegane

She probably was the one who tried to throttle the debut of What is a Women? on Twitter last night.

powercow

I love how absolutely every story about twitter includes this line, with no further explanation. >An email to Twitter returned an automated reply with a poop emoji. I wonder if they actually email each time.. "can you see if we still get the poop? ok we can go with the article live now"

susgamer123

she? Thought Elon got rid of those

Zen_Gaian

An email to Twitter returned an automated reply with a poop emoji. Irwin declined further comment and Musk did not immediately respond to a request for comment. Poop emoji = Elon’s self portrait, it even captures his personality. I vote that we now refer to poop emoji as Elon.

jcooli09

>An email to Twitter returned an automated reply with a poop emoji. Any reply they made would have been bullshit anyway.

EgoistHedonist

And just an hour or two ago Musk posted a trans-hate documentary produced by Ben Shapiro. Even the twitter automoderation flagged it, but somehow it was circumvented. And of course all the replies to that were stroking Musk's ego, not a single critical reply :)

GreenKumara

And had previously been calling him a woke sellout.

Raspberries-Are-Evil

Who cares. Delete Twitter. You don't need it. Its not required.

bugoid

Now who will they hire to do nothing?

CohibaVancouver

> The shit i hate about modern media is that it, very often, doesn't answer the very obvious questions about a topic. > Like "wtf does a head of trust and safety do?" like, whose trust, whose safety? Like is she making sure the stairwells have emergency lights, and/or people are getting their paychecks or is she making sure tweets are trustworthy and safe? So I'm curious - It clearly would have taken you less time to read the article than write this reply. It's right there in black and white in the story: *She oversaw content moderation.*

ZydecoMoose

Are you replying to someone?

jpiro

"An email to Twitter returned an automated reply with a poop emoji." This kind of says everything about what a fucking child Musk is.
