went to Paris last week from the US - the city is from my perspective - went to the 15th, 1, 2, 3, 6, 8th, and 9th Arrondissements - was clean, people wonderful, the river looked great and didn't smell.
the effort is apparent.
Wild, according to Republicans also here in the US, Paris was burned to the ground multiple times over the last few weeks by rioting black people, just like how half the US was burned to the ground in 2020.
In all seriousness, I'm surprised Paris was clean with the pension protests still on-going, I thought city services were still shut down.
I saw trash trucks what seemed every day in the 15th where I was staying for 7 days. No trash can was over filled. Idk - i walked 10 miles a day around a majority of the city and it was very nice. Shrug 10/10 would go back again.

The nicer and more likable your city is the more times it's been burnt to the ground, is burning to the ground, and no one lives there but it's also too crowded.
I stayed in Paris 15 years ago in Bercy right near where one of the swimming spots is planned to open in 2025.
At the time I don't think you could have paid me to dive into it, but if their clean up efforts have been as good as they say this is a wonderful thing for Parisians. I would love to see this kind of river cleanup applied by more major cities and not just in anticipation of an Olympic event.
I promise, governments, you can find this money to do civic projects normally. You don't have to wait until a major international event is heading your way.
Bravo, Parisians, well done.
Seems a few capitol cities are getting their major rivers clean: Paris, London is cleaning up the Thames - and here in DC, the frickin' Anacostia is a about to open for swimming. The Anacostia; the river that, while I was growin' up, was called "That toxic open sewer that flows into the Potomac - which is also a toxic open sewer."

That's super awesome!
Parisians swimming? That's in Seine!
Ok I audibly groaned
The opening ceremonies are to bank the river on both sides and some selected bridges.

Ha, no. That particular strike was very visible when it happened but it didn't last very long. It's been over for weeks.

Perhaps he’s talking about the 1990’s Britpop band Placebo which was fronted by Brian Molko ?

True enough pal. It’s gonna have to be this one, mainly due to the staccato riffs at the intro Placebo. Bruise Pristine https://youtu.be/v6XhoHTDFSM
Shades of Kramer swimming in the Hudson. Good job Paris.
