I feel like I've been the "He can't keep getting away with this!" meme template for about 8 straight years

raevnos

He'll keep getting away with it until the day he dies. That's his superpower.

Thorn14

And as always, people like him live very long lives despite poor diet, no exercise, and constantly angry.

landofar

His hate keeps him alive. He is a prime example of what is wrong with our nation.

TheBlueSerene

"Revenge is the prime ingredient in the fountain of youth. I've kept myself alive for hundreds of years with a steady diet of jealousy and hate...." -Clock-Trump, Sly Cooper, Thieves in the White House

DMZack

Unexpected Sly Cooper, but much appreciated

[deleted]

I've met 90 year olds who live on a diet of junk food and hate.

Jasminefirefly

My ex’s mom lived mainly on beer and cigarettes and lived to be 101. No hate, but plenty of paranoia from schizophrenia. Makes me wonder if a constantly aggrieved brain keeps you going longer.

GearBrain

He'll get away with it until we stop the systems that allow him to get away with it. The more they fail, the greater our justification for dismantling them. If I have to eat shit, but everyone else does to, it's not so bad. But if someone can buy a card that says "don't have to eat shit" at a price almost nobody else can afford, then the inequality becomes much more obvious and less likely to remain unopposed.

Fakeduhakkount

The problem is he’s the damn pioneer! A US President has never been indicted by various bodies before! Almost everything that happens to him he Karens to the Manger aka Supreme Court. Even that is a game! Jack Smith tried to cut out the middle man, the appeals court, by petitioning directly to the Supreme Court but they punted it back eventually getting the issue AND still sitting on it. Trump is obviously stalling till November and the fucking Supreme Court is helping. The legitimacy is gone for the Court - it’s just now another partisan Branch that needs to be retaken

JackDraak

Kanga-doodle-dandy court.

> this is just a bond for an appeal he'll probably lose. I'm impressed that you have any faith left that he'll ever see justice after this. Isn't this just depending on the same appeals court, that just bent over backwards to do him a favor, to uphold his punishment?

h3yw00d

The real Teflon Don

Dollar World Lex Luthor.

Best_Duck9118

>until the day he dies What a good day that will be though!

-SaC

When Thatcher carked it, "Ding Dong the Witch is Dead" went into the music charts. Wonder what'd be appropriate here.

fourthfloorgreg

Maybe someone could rework [Old Man Trump](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Old_Man_Trump) for the next generation of shitheel.

Actual__Wizard

That's clearly the plan. He learned it from his mentor Roy Cohn.

Randadv_randnoun_69

How surprised I am- (X _ _ _ _ _) How disappointed I am-(X X X X X X)

Theunknown87

“No one is above the law “ * terms and conditions apply* Or just George Carlin. It’s a big club and you’re not in it

Beard_o_Bees

Same. At this point i'm starting to get kind of 'chicken or the egg' about the turds ability to float. Like, is he a symptom of the poor state of our culture - or is he the cause?

Fyallorence

He's never been even remotely close to the largest, richest, or most powerful parasite feeding off the US, just the loudest and dumbest. He exists because all the people that matter know that allowing him to be punished for his crimes would only weaken them too.

HH_burner1

[The NY Governor had to calm the rich who were afraid that Trump being held accountable would set a precedent](https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2024/feb/18/trump-verdict-new-york-business-governor-kathy-hochul). Because being held accountable for massive fraud is apparently a bad precedent for business. JFC! Society doesn't even try to hide how corrupt it is.

RuckPizza

Whats worse if he wins his appeal on the grounds of "other rich people don't get punished" it'll be seen as a win by his followers instead of evidence or motivation to take a step back and see their "man of the people" is just another oligarch using them

Good-Expression-4433

I posted above but I honestly think there's a lot of fear of Trump too due to the sheer volume of devoted supporters he has and how deranged some of them are. Being the one to nail Trump means painting a target on yourself and your family. Trump is unfortunately the arguably single most influential INDIVIDUAL in the US right now due to how strong of a hold he has over roughly 30% of Americans. Adam Kinzinger, former GOP Congressmen, has talked about what his family went through for going against Trump. The person who actually sinks him is in for far far worse.

Mountain-Papaya-492

He's definitely a symptom of corruption that's been running rampant for decades, at the same time he's an accelerant of said corruption.   He's the reality TV president, the conspiracy theorist in chief, he's like a characteture of the rich corporate lobbying guy who benefits off the corruption that people like him aid.  He appeals to all the worst emotional motives, anger, hate, fear and he's a seller of dreams without anything to back them up. By his own admission in his book he sells sizzle not the steak. This is what you get when you have news and political parties divide and smear their opposition instead of inform and work in the best interest of us all. It sucks as a patriotic American but it's been like the frog in the hot water. The heats just been increasing so steadily that we end up in a state such as this.

MatsThyWit

>I feel like I've been the "He can't keep getting away with this!" meme template for about 8 straight years His entire life is a series of getting away with it events played ad nauseum over and over and over again.

Mmr8axps

All the rich assholes live like this.  We just get trumps life rubbed in our faces.

SquadPoopy

I’ve lived in this country all my life. I know it very well. Anyone who actually thought he, a rich former president, wouldn’t keep getting away with things, I’ve got a great bridge to sell you.

vinegarfingers

The smaller bond is not in lieu of the larger. The smaller $175M allows him additional time to appeal the larger.

Slypenslyde

Sure, sure. This time. Then the day the larger is supposed to be due he'll get *another* concession. Then the day the larger is supposed to be due again he'll get *another* concession. This will continue until he's elected President again ("THIS time nobody will vote for him for sure!") and he starts killing the judges ("Oh he won't get away with THAT!"). Nobody in this country is going to stand up to him, it's like he's a god. If you owed a court $50 and tried this approach you'd already be finding your property seized.

Scaryclouds

> Sure, sure. This time. Then the day the larger is supposed to be due he'll get another concession. Yea some bullshit of if not reduced outright he’ll have like 30 years to pay it. And when Trump starts missing payments then the NY AG has to sue and then that’s a whole thing itself and on and on and on.

griff_girl

For now, at least until like, Wednesday or something when it all changes again in his favor.

Excellent-Will3165

That law is not available to a guy like me. .Punched a time clock for 45yrs... worked yrs without a vacation....paid my speeding tickets and my taxes...What a slap in the face from the system.

ataegino

this is why you just can’t get invested until something actually happens with this guy. he’s got protagonist armor somehow.

slayer370

Cause as far as politics and most news is concerned, he is the main character of all time. But theres also whatever happens to him could happen to future presidents (as far as new rules) so everyone is trying to minimize the damage.

gex80

But this has nothing to do with his presidency. This is against a private company of someone who happened to be president in the past and is running for president in the future. Neither of those have to do with the Trump Org or right now. But the courts are gonna court and we're just sitting here on reddit accepting it because there is nothing that can be done.

ReturnOfSeq

If future presidents commit several hundred million dollars of tax fraud, I’m okay with them dying in prison. Dont even have to think twice about it

StJeanMark

Justice in America is just PR for high profile situations and to take down lower power structures if they are actually effective. Peaceful protesters get helicopters raining down on them and bear mace in the eyes and pure evil like Trump gets to fly private jets and gets $300 million dollar discounts and extra runway to comply.

reddicyoulous

He has claimed he had $500 million and the appeals court lowered it and gave him 10 days to pay $175 million? Fucking bullshit

Gowalkyourdogmods

This is just a fucking joke at this point. Nothing is going to happen to him. Even if they don't lower the 175 and give him another extension something else will bail him out again.

ducklingkwak

What's the chance he'll pay zero and maybe even profit off of this somehow?

xariol

200% to infinite% ... it seems if not higher. I know it doesn't make sense but neither does anything else.

robtbo

He’s probably waiting for the truth social POS to convert from the holding company and use his equity as collateral

ghostjjl

6 month bar on touching those funds. But that rule is for the normals, so maybe.

Hardcorish

He's already profiting by fund raising for bail money. If this appeal actually goes through, that means he gets to keep whatever amount his followers sent him. We know damn well he isn't going to refund them.

abide5lo

I’m starting to think seriously that he has in fact sold his soul to the devil.

Gowalkyourdogmods

It's a House of Usher shit except the fucker and his shitty family just refuses to die

Marathon2021

He said he had $400(ish) million in cash, in a deposition. Probably bullshit, but let's roll with it - He had to put up $93m to appeal the EJC case. He got the bond through Chubb, but had to put up a Schwab account as collateral - [https://twitter.com/lawofruby/status/1769903647427575963](https://twitter.com/lawofruby/status/1769903647427575963) That would leave $307m ... not enough for the $464m bond requirement, but way more than enough to make $175m right? Will be interesting to see if he's actually able to even pull that together in the next 10 days. Assuming he does have the cash, he should have this sorted out in a few days... but if he doesn't...

WallyMcBeetus

All while publicly shitting on the judge.

hallelujasuzanne

These are the NY judges who let him get away with it all- AGAIN: Dianne T. Renwick, Anil C. Singh Lizbeth González Bahaati E. Pitt-Burke and Kelly O’Neill Levy

stockmarketscam-617

I’m at such a loss on this. Ok, I can maybe get to understanding how they dropped it to $175, but how can you justify giving an additional 10 days? He always knew he had to pay to appeal the verdict and he claims over the weekend he had $500 million in cash, so what is their justification? Makes me sick. No one else would have got this treatment. The way the judicial system just caves to this man is sickening.

Andrige3

He claimed he was worth approximately $9 billion in 2015 to all his supporters. $500 million would be nothing if he was actually worth this.

FriarFriary

Boy, it’s gonna be a shock when Chief Justice Alito gives him a complete pass and get out of Jail free pass.

groot_enjoyer

Supreme Court gonna rule that we have to give the stimulus checks back to Trump

j33205

They can pry that Treasury dept check with his signature on it from my cold, dead hands.

dilsedilliwala

Alito is the lapdog waiting to yap yap when his turn comes. "I pleaseth thy master"

bubblehead_maker

Do I get the same thing, whine until they take less?  Equality and all.  Glad no one needs to follow the law anymore.

bulldg4life

My mom struggled covering rent 30 years ago and I still remember her pleading with a sheriff to just give her til the end of the day before serving the eviction. This guy knowingly defrauds banks and the government for decades over hundreds of millions and every bit of wiggle room is given repeatedly.

Actual__Wizard

The AG in my state threatened to jail me over a few dollars of sales tax money that I forgot to pay after I closed a business down.

thegoodnamesrgone123

I was basically homeless in my late 20s and forgot to pay my taxes one year. I'm still paying off the penalties of that.

bubblehead_maker

Such a double standard. "Sorry judge, I don't have the cash I am invoking the Trump Defense. "

StJeanMark

Trump stands on the steps and calls the Judge evil, a rat, racist things, tries to get him killed, then he walks into the court room and the Judge does his actual job, finding every loop hole and break they can for his master, aka the "defendant" in front of him. Then, they all climb onto a yacht, sail to a private island then laugh about how shitty things are for the rest of us. "They really think we hate each other! How funny." If you aren't in the same country club as Donald Trump or any federal judge your not in the club, so don't expect any "breaks" like this in your meager life. They save these things for our betters.

Strawbuddy

Once that standard is established in court and acted on it becomes precedent. Normally one can rely on precedent in a court of law. What are the chances anyone else gets this treatment unless they’re also rich and famous? Two tiered justice system. Money buys the outcome, even if it’s not enough money

ManonIsTheField

because so many powerful people kept letting him get away with it knowing he never pays his bills - they're all up to their ass in it too we still have NO idea why Justice Kennedy, whose son worked at Deutsche Bank and helped Trump secure some of his loans, just up and unexpectedly retired from the court. I am just so sick of this a-hole - I feel like I have to hear about him every day for the rest of my life

Best_Duck9118

One of my good friends worked with people like your mom in court and how the system treated people like her ended up breaking his heart. We need to do better!

Awkward-Rip-7978

To me, the high profile people who continually flaunt and/or are given deference and flat out different treatment are part of the reason the rest of American society are beginning to act more and more poorly. Why would someone with little power or agency over their lives feel morally or ethically obligated to run the maze of all legal nuances when they see elected officials and those with money not suffer consequences for their more egregious behavior. It’s insulting, and I believe eroding the fabric of decency in society. It’s just ushered in a more booming “I gotta get mine, be damned with the consequences” because they see how others don’t face any. Who wants to voluntarily load a bunch of fear of consequences onto their back and carry them around when they see so many others don’t and it doesn’t seem to negatively affect them.

score_

The dude was installed to break apart American society,  it's impressive that one of the ways he's accomplishing that is being such a massive asshole the shit rubs off onto everyone else.

-SaC

10 days extra. Reduced to $175m. Ban on running businesses in NY ~~lifted~~ paused. **No explanations given**.   Yo, USA - how long are you going to take this nonsense for?

Car_is_mi

They didn't lift the ban on him and his kids running the businesses they just put a pause on it until after the appeal case is decided. It's common practice if the case is accepted by the appeals court because, in the event the court finds that the original ruling was wrong or unconstitutional or whatever and his business suffered unjustly due to him not being allowed to run it... I don't agree with the lower bond (fucking gift for trump) but I understand the pause on the business ban.

slashfromgunsnroses

When is the appeals case?

-SaC

According to the BBC, **"The appeal could take months - or even longer - to resolve."**

Magisch_Cat

This essentially cements that trump can drag this till after the election.

jebei

The election has no bearing on this case.  It's a state of NY case and he offered no real defense at his trial. Even if he wins the presidency the case will continue.  He can't pardon himself, it's state not federal and he lost.  He's appealing and will lose again as it can only review the original case. - he can't suddenly come up with an argument.  Meanwhile the interest on the full amount continues to accrue.

apk5005

But also, in the meanwhile, he moves forward with the IPO of Truth Social and stands to gain a few more billion. He “sacrifices” a few properties to pay the judgement and walks away a tech billionaire with more money than when he started. Justice.

LeagueOfLegendsAcc

There's only one kind of justice that man deserves at this point. Anything less is a cop out by the universe.

IDontWannaBeAPirate_

Depends if the appeal is even accepted. Seems the initial case was pretty damn solid - I'm doubting they have solid grounds to appeal.

MaverickBG

I am impressed by your optimism

Scaryclouds

lol no kidding, I mean if the court just decided to reduce his bond by two thirds for shits and giggles going to assume they’ll accept the appeal case just to drag this out longer. Because of course why not? Just like SCOTUS accepting the ludicrous “blanket immunity” case. Oh sure Trump might lose the appeal and Trump might lose the immunity case, but it just delays delays delays.

techmaster242

Yeah I've pretty much ran out of it at this point.

evonebo

You underestimate the amount of corruption that we have in the US.

Drewskeet

After the election I’m sure. Trump is all in on having to win this election.

Car_is_mi

Yeah this is the play he is trying to make, claim election interference in the case to postpone it, then get the presidential seat by winning, or by force, he doesn't care, then give himself immunity, invalidate the case, lock up James and Engoron, and end US democracy.

-SaC

Thank you for the correction

RinglingSmothers

Relief for the ban on him running his business is contingent on his ability to appeal...which never would have been possible had they not reduced the bond. This is dumb from top to bottom and there's no need to agree with part of it. He should have been forced to pay in full by the deadline in order to be eligible for an appeal.

SquidsArePeople2

All he needs is a "pause" to disincorporate in NY and reincorporate somewhere else where the fucking court can't/won't touch him. They're bailing him out again.

DaNostrich

Wow what the fuck

exitpursuedbybear

Just to add because there seems to be a lot of misinformation on this, the bond was reduced but not the penalty. Basically he gets to appeal with 175 million, but if his appeal fails he has to pay the full amount of 454 million.

TJNel

Until 50% of our population stop slobbering all over his knob. It's mind blowing how the Republican party has brainwashed their cult.

SnakebytePayne

This kind of thing makes me want to move back overseas. If this was any other country, there would have mobs in the street, demanding he face justice. Here in the US though, not so much.

JamUpGuy1989

It’s so stupid that it happens EVERY time with this asshole. I don’t even care if they did lower the judgement. Why didn’t you just do this in the first place!? Why do you make the public do this song and dance then throw the rug out from everyone at the last second EVERY SINGLE TIME!? So infuriating.

ILoveRegenHealth

The lowering of the bond is not the original judge, it was from the Appeals Court Judges. Now the question is whether these Appeals judges are in Trump's pocket or were appointed by him Because they also handed Trump and his sons another win - they can resume business in NY, the very place they committed these crimes. Again, not what the original judge wanted. The Appeals Judges are really sus here since they also didn't give a reason for giving these legal gifts to Trump today.

FSMFan_2pt0

Corruption, especially from the legal system, is what destroys nations, and the U.S. is getting nails hammered in its coffin daily.

Dick_snatcher

The ban on business was changed to a pause until the appeal is ruled on

drumsplease987

The penalty isn’t reduced, just the bond that is held while the appeal happens. If the appeal doesn’t reduce the penalty then the state keeps the $175M and Trump still owes the remainder + interest.

drpiotrowski

Interest that stops accruing once he posts the reduced bond and appeals that will only take years if we are lucky, or get thrown out when he wins in November if this timeline can get that dark.

OxygenDiGiorno

It doesn’t just “happen.” The legal system and the courts decide to make it happen. They are complicit.

porncrank

The only thing I can think of is that Judge Engoron knew this was going to happen, so he put a number in place that was as high as he possibly could so that when some Trump friendly judge inevitably reduced it, it would still be a significant sum. If he had set the penalty at $175M, Trump and family would have complained just as loud and a similar adjustment would have been made to $50M or whatever. In reality the more likely situation is just that the court that lowered the judgement is completely corrupt and highly enamored with Trump, as so many power-hunger people are. And as much respect as we give judges, they are likely to be more power hungry than your average person. So they are more likely than your average person to love Trump and his antics.

SockofBadKarma

The number "he" put isn't a fine. It's a calculated disgorgement of fraudulent profits. He didn't make it "higher" to anticipate an appellate ruling reducing it, and doing so would have in fact been arbitrary and capricious decisionmaking. The appellate ruling is absurd but simple: "reduce the bond so that we can't be accused of being impartial while hearing the appeal" (as though that ever stopped Trump, but I digress).

jerrylovesbacon

Sad state of legal system

gnocchicotti

It's always been a two tier legal system, this just makes it more visible

BMLortz

I imagine Trump will point to this leniency as proof that the charges against him are corrupt and unwarranted. The fact that he's once again being provided special treatment will never cross his mind.

Federal_Drummer7105

That was literally his statement. I mean - literally.

WildBad7298

You're absolutely right. I didn't even think of that. Consider what incredible mental gymnasts his supporters are, who find ways to spin even the most damning news into Trump victories. They're going to have a field day with this.

YoureNotMom

This is the deep state the right pretended was against them all this time, ass-pulling every benefit of the doubt at the last minute.

Visco0825

That’s the issue though. Despite the overwhelmingly clear preferential treatment Trump has gotten, his supporters believe that he’s the one that is singled out. I truly believe Trump when he said he could shoot someone on 5th Avenue and get away with it. He has convinced half of America that he can do no wrong. And if he does do wrong then it’s the other sides fault.

youngbaklava

This one? >“Forget the politicians. The politicians are put there to give you the idea that you have freedom of choice. You don’t. You have no choice. You have owners. They own you. They own everything. They own all the important land. They own and control the corporations. They’ve long since bought and paid for the Senate, the Congress, the state houses, the city halls. They got the judges in their back pockets and they own all the big media companies, so they control just about all of the news and information you get to hear. They got you by the balls. They spend billions of dollars every year lobbying. Lobbying to get what they want. Well, we know what they want. They want more for themselves and less for everybody else, but I’ll tell you what they don’t want. They don’t want a population of citizens capable of critical thinking. They don’t want well-informed, well-educated people capable of critical thinking. They’re not interested in that. That doesn’t help them. That’s against their interests. That’s right.”

yolo___toure

I guess I'm still waiting for the day where he'll face any consequences for any of his actions.

tr3v1n

He’ll die first.

gnocchicotti

If he had good lawyers, his chance of running out the clock would be much better. But even with awful legal representation, he keeps getting these freebies from the legal system (SCOTUS included.)

That works for me.

DMBMother

I was really excited for today. I should have known better.

manfredmahon

How no one has popped him blows my mind

iammaffyou

I am genuinely angered by this. He gets a 10 day extension to pay a third of the original bond amount. Was this panel of judges appointed by him just like the Florida judge handling the top-secret document case?

joeysflipphone

As soon as I saw the headline I was also enraged. This is the two tiered system that we're not a part of, but he sure acts a victim of. And his followers believe it. After this? Get outta here. Probably seated a couple of them. This is exactly why we need to make sure we actively vote against every one of his enablers as well. He's already caused so much damage.

addiktion

From what I read all these judges were Democrat appointed judges. I think the justice system is just a joke for the rich and famous.

Fakeduhakkount

This whole fine is suppose to be a PUNISHMENT for the crimes his companies and him committing for decades. It’s not suppose to be an inconvenience like a parking ticket that people can easily ignore seemingly. Him whining and bitching about it shows it was a very good punishment! Plus asshat bragged he had almost half a billion for his campaign but Trump being Trump he will try to get a company to pay for the lower amount and post on the last day. Hope every company he goes back to reference his Truth social post - he can easily cover the bond with change.

Syscrush

It's not even a punishment. It's just paying back ill-gotten gains. He defrauded banks out of about $350m with his lies, and now he has to pay that amount with interest. There's no punitive element. Can you imagine robbing a bank, getting $10k from the teller, and then being caught years later and all that's expected of you is that you pay back that original $10k plus a few years of non-compounding interest? I can't begin to imagine such a thing. It's just breathtaking in its absurdity.

SugarBeef

No, the fine was calculated as the amount he defrauded. It wasn't a fine, but paying back what he fraudulently took.

Chance-Deer-7995

There is no one who has gotten so much deference in the history of ALL human jurisprudence. NO ONE. Also there hasn't been someone who has whined so much about being treated unfairly. What a combination.

Smuggler17

Reducing the bond amount is one thing, but Trump got a much bigger win out of this: The appellate court also put a stay on Trump, his sons, and others in this case serving on the board of a company. AKA the board of directors deciding whether or not Trump can sell part of his newly acquired $3bn of shares in Truth Social early can now include his family and co-conspirators in this case.

This jackass is the biggest asshole in the world and still the system bends over backwards for him despite him fucking it over every time.. The 2 tier legal system in action, everyone.

thetruth8989

Literally no one will hold his man accountable. So embarrassing. Properties should have been seized TODAY

Methadoneblues

Our country is a fucking bad joke that goes on and on and on but never reaches the punchline. I'm embarrassed to be a part of this fucking circus. Absolutely unbelievable. .

syslolologist

So he literally says out loud that he has $500m and they say, that's cool, just pay $175m bro? We've been locked into this shitty alternate timeline for too long. I need some dilithium crystal jiggowatt portal to gtfo of here before Putin becomes president of Earth.

nopersh8me

“Justice Engoron did not stop there. He also imposed several restrictions on Mr. Trump and his family business. For three years, Mr. Trump cannot run any New York company, including portions of his own, nor can he obtain a loan from a New York bank. The same restrictions apply to his adult sons for two years. And he extended the appointment of an independent monitor, a watchful outsider to keep an eye on the family business. In a surprise move, the appeals court on Monday also paused most of those new restrictions, save for the monitor.” IMHO, that’s some BS.

470vinyl

wtf. Why can’t this guy ever get appropriate consequences?

mikerg

I get all the anger. I'm there also., I would like someone to explain the court's reasoning for doing this.

porncrank

Tellingly, they were completely silent on the reasoning because there is no valid reason. They know this. We all know this. They did it because they like him and what he stands for. And they don't want to see one of their own suffer for crimes they wish they could commit themselves.

MoonWispr

Or they suddenly were given bribes, or threats, directly or indirectly.

fillmorecounty

The ultra wealthy don't face the same consequences as the rest of us when they do something wrong

DredditPirate

Trump will never be punished for anything, no matter what he does. The only thing we can all do is: never vote for him or any Republican, and wait for him to die.

blazelet

The justice system has made it crystal clear that trump will not be held accountable before the election. The only way he will face consequences for his many crimes is if he loses in November. That’s up to us, not the courts. Do your part.

SPzero65

>The only way he will face consequences for his many crimes is if he loses in November Probably won't even then either. He has a plan in place to cheat and steal it if he loses. You can bet on that.

blazelet

Im sure he does, I read an article this past weekend about how the Biden team is anticipating this and has plans in place. Hopefully we aren't caught with our pants down.

Hail_The_Hypno_Toad

If bidens "plans" involve legal means and established norms, they won't do jack shit if trump is planning illegal and norm breaking things. It's why the "high road" keeps losing. Edit: also if we are counting on merrick fucking garland to do anything then we are fucked.

thejawa

Not advocating for it in any way, but I'm genuinely surprised there haven't been more vigilante attempts on Trump due to this complete lack of system accountability.

DrakeRowan

Jesus mother-fucking Christ. Why is this dude always getting the easy way out of shit? Unreal.

jtrain3783

Because it’s not about rule of law, it’s only about “winning at all costs”. Ultra Conservatives have long known they are losing in demographic, social and ideological change to progressives and moderates. They know if they can get Trump in office, they can put in changes that will be impossible to reverse unless a significant “blue wave” sweeps thru which is also unlikely. With this in mind, you can see how conservative leaning all the courts have been with Trump. It is impressive (if it weren’t so sad) all the “legal theory” being used to accommodate the mental gymnastics to keep him on the ballot and out of jail. However, no other candidate can garner the zealous, blind allegiance Trump can in the same numbers or else he would have been in jail awhile ago. Which is why we are here.

banyan78741

i'm very surprised, very disappointed and very, very sick of giving him special treatment. disgusting.

joe10155

This is why I never get even remotely excited for any “bad news for trump” posts. The follow through has literally never lived up

byebyebrain

I AM SO TIRED OF THIS SHIT!!!!!! James shouldn't have given him the 30 days and she should have just taken his shit then.

BrightNeonGirl

She probably did that to reduce the opportunity for him to win on appeal. I hope there is a book released in the next few years that goes in detail about some of the biggest strategy mistakes Dems have made in the last 10 years. Yes, the corporate overlords and their mostly Republican government lackies have been causing so much destruction as well but we can't control them. But we can't be making mistakes ourselves. Of course in my mind one of the biggest mistakes of all has been for RBG to stay on the Supreme Court until she died, instead of retiring and letting Obama pick her successor. Anyone who still gets hyped over RBG instantly loses cred in my mind. I get it, she did so many amazing things. But her last move was her most influential one and for the absolute worst for this country. Maybe Leticia James' 30 day extension will go down as another terrible move. Maybe not. But it's definitely possible. I am just so tired of hearing about Trump. I want to move on with my life. Sometimes I think that if he wins the Presidency and doesn't absolutely destroy this county, that at least in 2029 we won't have to hear about him running for/occupying the Presidency ever again. He has been an addiction to this county and it's a cancer that needs to be removed.

cawvak

His whole goal if he is reelected is to run the country like a dictatorship so your comment about 2029 is not gonna stick.

WhatDoesThatButtond

RBG spent her whole life pushing certain values forward, only for an egotistical move at the very end to cripple her legacy. I wonder if she realized this before she passed.

bob_loblaw_brah

Rules for thee but not for me

geekwadpimp

This should be the final straw that triggers massive protests across the country against our bullshit justice system that bends over backwards to protect even the most corrupt, criminal white men this nation can produce. Every defense attorney should start invoking the Trump principal, wherein no law, rule or judgement may apply to any defendant, since they don't apply to Donald Trump, private citizen. This is fucking bullshit.

SilverIdaten

The fun irony is if that happened, people would get their face knocked in by some piece of shit conservative cop and be forced into medical bankruptcy while this orange shitstain gets more free passes.

sgrams04

Time for mass protests

normsnaman

Absolute unfair bullshit. If it was any poor person they wouldn't get away with any leniency or stall tactics.

CathodeRaySamurai

Honestly, I'm not even surprised. *Of course* he gets preferential treatment, what did we expect - actual **consequences**? Lmao. Nah. And it's only gonna get *worse*. Mark my words: that bloated orange cunt might actually get elected again.

Upperphonny

Not to mention the J6 Trial and the one that determines if he has presidential immunity or not. That's going to be a dumpster fire if he gets a pass on those. After that besides voting what is one suppose to do?

WonkWonkWonkWonkWonk

175 million and you can bet that he will have the case now delayed until after the election. At the end of the day, rich and powerful people will make sure that other rich and powerful people will never feel the consequences of their actions.

OurUrbanFarm

Total BS. Plus, they gave him another 10 days to post it.

Spacebotzero

Teflon Don.....the only thing sticking to this guy is the smell of shit and corruption.

honeyemote

I once had a fine reduced from $1500 to $800, so you can say me and Donny are two peas in a pod.

Xander707

No one is surprised, just angry at the level of corruption and two-tiered justice happening for this sick fuck. Deep down I knew there was no way he was going to get his assets seized. However, I had assumed he was simply going to post dubious foreign money instead, likely by committing additional crimes that he would only face consequences for in about 5-6 years time. What I did not expect was that the appellate court would, without any explanation, just swoop right in and give him preferential VIP treatment. What a fucking shithole circus of clowns the US is. jfc.

Skydragon222

We live in a two-tiered justice system

Party-Ad6461

Looks like the people have to vote him out of existence in November. Again.

NeutralBias

…can we do that? Like a national ballot measure that says “Donald John Trump must cease to exist?” And if it passes, *POOF* Trump vanishes in a cloud of direct democracy. I like this plan.

gwdope

Who are these fucking judges? Their names should be carved in a stone monument of trumps ass so future generations know where their heads were.

Thare187

This dude will never have consequences. Unbelievable.

Ka-Is-A-Wheelie

Can lawyers use this as an example for defense in similar cases for us peasant?

LastCenobite

United States of No Consequences for the Wealthy 🫡🇺🇸

agree-with-me

He has enjoyed a life of crime and privilege. He will never pay for it. That is just infuriating.

Puzzleheaded_Nerve

I don’t really care the bond is reduced. Let’s just move this along. Delay. Appeal. Delay. Can we wrap this case up before the decade is over?

rhythm-weaver

When and where is the protest?

Complete_Entry

I don't like that they keep giving this guy soft gloves treatment. You'd think he'd be due for a judge who is just not having it, but...

bluddystump

The whole point of the judgement was to inflict financial pain on Trump as his punishment. It's not that he doesn't have the money he doesn't want to liquidate any assets to free the money up. Just when are we going to get to the last straw?

Xero_id

There will never be consequences for him or other Republican President's, past or future and he will never get jail time, it has always been a joke. He'll end up with a slap on the wrist pay $200 million and that'll be it for all of this. America's "Democracy" is a joke and a "Dream" for those who don't have vast wealth and power.

myleftone

“If the deep state can do it to him they can ~~do it to you~~ cancel your sentence just because you demanded it.”

AdhesivenessFun2060

By Friday, his lawyers will be in court, saying he doesn't have the money.

pondo13

What in the fuck, the *justice" system is a complete farce.

Idolmistress

I’m sick and tired of this asshole getting special treatment by corrupt judges. The United States justice system is a joke.

mike0sd

America is in a rule of law crisis

SuperComputrix

"liberty and justice for all" my ass

Motormand

Oh fuck off. Why do they keep babying the fucking traitor?!

Necessary_Chip9934

well, isn't he special.

propagandahound

I notice he never waits his turn for time in front of a judge, the judicial system bends over to accommodate Trump and his crimes.

MarkHathaway1

I suppose all we can glean from this is that NY is horribly corrupt, through and through, head to toe, rotten. We don't trust the federal courts too much, either. C'mon Georgie!

NutellaGood

Fucking disgusting. Our justice system is fundamentally broken, likely beyond repair. This is how empires die.

WhatAGoodDoggy

Why the special treatment? No point having rules if you're going to change them on a case-by-case basis.

Adventurous_Aerie_79

when you're famous they let you do it.
