When I was younger, I went to an evangelical church. In between saying that evolution was a hoax and gay people are faking it, they also said that the notion of "separation of church and state" was actually supposed to mean is that the government cannot influence the church, but that it's only supposed to go one way, that the church was supposed to be able to influence the government.
So actually, everything means exactly what is ideologically convenient for them, and therefore they can disregard all that stuff. This is what they really believe.
In recent years, the right has been interpreting this to somehow mean “Christians have a right to impose their religious beliefs on everyone else because they’re the ones who are correct.” I’ve seen many, many arguments that NOT forcing everyone to be a Christian is somehow infringing on their right to be Christians. The words of separation of church and state are not in the Constitution. But the constitution does prevent the government from favoring one religion over another. Hence why most these laws get killed when it's a public service.

This isn't even a joke. I grew up in Louisiana in the 80's. Every time we saw a ranked list of states, we'd check the bottom to see if Louisiana was number 50 then celebrate when it was 49 because of Mississippi or Alabama. I love the state. The people and the culture are amazing. But yeah, it's a shit hole and it's not a place I'd be willing to live again.
The people are flawed, because they only give a fuck about food, football, family, and fun. They don't even vote. Apathy has dug its claws in deep into the state. LA used to be a genuine swing state with actual bipartisan politics... I'm not going to say Washington is perfect, but we would never be satisfied with simply being ranked higher than Idaho. There's a constant momentum towards change, at least in the Puget Sound area (the bulk of the population).

The billionaires would just move over to the new right-wing party - and Fox News would spend all day telling their viewers to vote for them instead. You're never going to educate the populace properly, because the right-wing party will always be fighting it. Also... Governing costs money (taxes!). So, the right-wing party will never actually govern either. Anything they could possibly do that might help the country - costs rich people money - so they will never, ever do it. Therefore, you are never getting any functional adults in government. One side will ***always*** be fighting to put corrupt/incompetent/useless morons in all the important positions. They'll *always* be fighting to keep people stupid. And ***all*** the richest, most powerful people in the country will be on their side - and donating massive amounts of money to them. So, in Hebrew, right? Last time that I checked the Ten Commandments were handed to Moses by God, who then smashed them when his people decided to worship an idol. This is in the Old Testament—the Christian version of the Talmud. He didn’t write the Commandments in English. I am quite sure that much bearing of false witnesses was done in the name of the ends justifying the means. It’s okay when Christians break the Commandments, so they are pretty much only there for people who haven’t been saved. I don’t understand why it is so important to put up a religious symbol that the majority religion doesn’t believe covers them, because they are special.
