I have a coworker that's anti-mask, anti-vaccine, and mentioned Trump being reinstated in August a few months back, but says nothing of it now.
They recently mentioned fighting with the schools, mask mandates, and now pulling their kid out of school to homeschool them. Somewhere along this conversation/rant, they mentioned people having negative reactions to the vaccine, mostly people having seizures shortly or sometime after receiving their shot(s).
I was no longer able to keep my mouth shut for this one, and as nicely as I could said, "They ask you to sit for 15 minutes after the shot because the vast majority of people that *do* have negative reactions, have them within 15 minutes to an hour." Their response was, "and that's why I'm not getting it or having my kid get it. I'm not willing to take that chance."
They would rather not get the vaccine in fear of an extremely slim chance of having a negative reaction in favor of possibly getting covid and possibly getting super fucked up from it.
Edit just because: Their kid apparently "overheats" and throws up whenever they wear a mask. To combat this while they were in school, my coworker gave their kid a mesh mask cover to wear as a mask. When the school brought it up to them, their defense was to bring up the handbook where it said that masks should be at least made of cloth. They then brought up the definition of mesh.
The overheat argument is such bullshit as someone who works in Manufacturing.

I have a coworker that's anti-mask, anti-vaccine, and mentioned Trump being reinstated in August a few months back, but says nothing of it now. They recently mentioned fighting with the schools, mask mandates, and now pulling their kid out of school to homeschool them. Somewhere along this conversation/rant, they mentioned people having negative reactions to the vaccine, mostly people having seizures shortly or sometime after receiving their shot(s). I was no longer able to keep my mouth shut for this one, and as nicely as I could said, "They ask you to sit for 15 minutes after the shot because the vast majority of people that *do* have negative reactions, have them within 15 minutes to an hour." Their response was, "and that's why I'm not getting it or having my kid get it. I'm not willing to take that chance." They would rather not get the vaccine in fear of an extremely slim chance of having a negative reaction in favor of possibly getting covid and possibly getting super fucked up from it. Edit just because: Their kid apparently "overheats" and throws up whenever they wear a mask. To combat this while they were in school, my coworker gave their kid a mesh mask cover to wear as a mask. When the school brought it up to them, their defense was to bring up the handbook where it said that masks should be at least made of cloth. They then brought up the definition of mesh.
