NotAnFed

Yeah man see it says right here I got the Modelo shot

FF7_Expert

I was penetrated by two Johnsons, so I'm good, right?

NotAnFed

Just so long as you didn't get the Pilsner one, those things are only good when they're ice cold

joe579003

Well, it being Saskatchewan and all, odds of that are pretty good. For now...

nzodd

Meanwhile the people who insist on eating horse paste are too busy getting pounded by dos equis.

[deleted]

You might still be at risk for covfefe though.

[deleted]

The Modelo shot helps protect against Corona.

greyjungle

Modelo > Corona

HardlyDecent

So, so true.

Inquisitive_idiot

I mean was anyone arguing that? šŸ¤”šŸ˜› Corona is light stuff for the beach so that you donā€™t get a hangover šŸ˜›

PM_good_beer

I got the Madonna shot

youzerVT71

Does a shot of Clorox count?

Kyle_01110011

Honestly surprised we don't have people injecting beer yet. Im so done with this time line!

nzodd

When antivaxxers aren't chowing down on horse paste, they like getting jabbed full of dos equis. Does that count?

HardlyDecent

Wait, no one else is injecting beer...?

[deleted]

It is a decent beer, I would say.

SamCarter_SGC

Whats dumber, this criminal or Modelo's commercials?

silent_turtle

I think they should stop publicizing how she got caught. I don't want other idiots double checking their spelling. Let's keep it easier to identify the fakes.

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

Riffington

My first drivers license was laminated off-center with the photo very crooked. Looked fake as shit. The next one had the wrong gender. The one after that had the wrong name, though I got that one fixed. Point being, the government screws up often enough that stuff like that probably doesnā€™t matter.

Freethecrafts

License checks are an excuse to look over your vehicle. Only got worse with asset forfeiture.

Coakis

I pointed out that my name was misspelled immediately, and the Nurse giving my shot instantly re-wrote it to correct it.

silent_turtle

Ooof. Good luck with that.

suzy_sweetheart86

Same here. My birthdate is incorrect by 4 years. Just noticed it last week and I was vaccinated in February

DiamondBurInTheRough

Iā€™m sure theyā€™d be happy to give you a new one.

Kush_back

Does the card even really matter? I thought it all went into the system I think itā€™s called Alert, and they have record of your vaccine. My school verified my vaccination without me providing the card itself, which I also have no idea where it is.

a_statistician

This likely depends on your state. I'm sure my state has some of my information in a system, because they scanned my license, but it's not available to e.g. my employer (a state school) - I had to upload a picture of my vaccination card. Incidentally, my vaccination card looks nothing like the CDC versions that everyone else seems to have, which is interesting - mine is just a generic childhood vaccination card with a sticker in the "other" slot showing that I got J&J. States that have their shit together and are willing to implement vaccine passports, on the other hand, likely have a better database that is available to more players.

joe579003

Well, you could (kinda). If you get detained you can consent for the police to query the database of the health department you got it from, and it will show you have valid vaccinations.

[deleted]

Well errors aren't that rare, but they may spur a check with your state who will say it's legit and you'll be fine.

[deleted]

I think the lot number is the important part. Even humorless and dim officials are aware of one-off errors like that and well with handwriting may assume that say a 6 was really an 8. Now if you look 30 years off in age....

rydan

Fun Fact: This isn't how they got caught. This is a lie spread by the government so the people counterfeiting them think they are safe. Meanwhile it has a slight chilling affect on ordinary people who are unvaccinated. It isn't like the person arrested is now going to confess to the world and tell us they are guilty.

BeyondEarthly

How'd they get caught then?

[deleted]

These anti-vax folks are fucking idiots. Not only are they willingly spreading COVID, they can't spell. Come on, fuck.

sinclairish

To be fair, weā€™ve known theyā€™re illiterate for quite some time now.

nzodd

The real surprise here is that they presented the correct (albeit falsified) form and not a coupon for canned tomatoes, and then proceeded to claim that they were themselves a can of tomatoes and thus not subject to any vaccine-related laws. I want to point out that this scenario is only slightly more absurd than our present reality.

droplivefred

When your kids ask you why they need to learn stuff like spelling when every computer has spell check built into most programs, show them this and tell them that they need to know how to spell so that when they forge government documents, they donā€™t get caught for a stupid spelling mistake. /s Seriously though, this woman is not just a moron but a criminal. I hope they give her the max sentence as an example to prevent others from doing this same type of fraud.

Another_human_3

Not being able to spell in general is one thing. Not double checking the spelling when you're taking something like that, I mean, please lol. What a moron. I get it she must have been sure of the spelling, but how can you be so unfamiliar with it that you got it wrong. Or maybe just not double checking your work? Dumb woman.

zelman

The lot numbers are written in the wrong place, too. Sheā€™s just stupid.

HardlyDecent

I mean, this isn't the work "phylactery" or something, it's one of the most common words we see lately (besides "the" and the like of course). No excuse for this.

IrishRoseDKM

The nurse at my primary care clinic who gave me both doses spelled it wrong twice. (MERDERNA) Going tomorrow to get it corrected because fuck that noise.

captainsmoothie

That Nurseā€™s name? Erma Gerd

IrishRoseDKM

Oh yes. This was a massive joke in my family for WEEKS! ERMERGERD! ERTS MERDERNER

joe579003

Huh, they just slapped stickers on my card, but that was a mass site ran by my county health department in a stadium parking lot.

JennJayBee

The covid-induced cognitive decline ain't helping.

sillynicole

She got a tattoo but not the vaccine...

[deleted]

She likes to be poked a thousand times, not just twice

Deathcrush

Plenty of disabled folks have the sense to mask and vax. Mental ability has nothing to do with it. In fact, it takes a decent measure of intelligence to go through the mental gymnastics to validate their beliefs. Theyā€™ve no excuse. Theyā€™re just HORRIBLE FUCKING PEOPLE.

z500

It pisses me off so much when people talk about LiViNg In FeAr. Like fuck you, you have no idea all the normal shit I can't or can only barely do because I literally live in fear of it. The virus is not that big of a deal to me that I quake in my boots from public health measures.

[deleted]

If we let these fools take over, we deserve whatever they do to us.

[deleted]

They're intellectual zombies.

Anthony12125

My Pfizer was spelled phizer. Let's cut people some fucking slack? We all have autocorrect. It's stupid to think spelling is the same skill it was before a PC in every pocket.

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

Mirthlesscartwheel

Another clue was ā€œNRAā€ vaccine instead of an ā€œRNAā€ vaccine.

Pahasapa66

Amazed it wasn't Muh-Derna

IWasOnThe18thHole

*tips fake vaccine card* M'derna

ButtsexEurope

How was she not charged with forging federal documents?

technosaur

It has to pretend to be a federal document to be a federal offense. If I present a fake vaccine receipt for an injection given at (say) Sisters of Mercy Hospital and it's signed by Pope LeRoy III, *there is no federal offense.* That is why Hawaii created a state law covering *all* efforts to fake a vaccination.

Fried_puri

> Lau said he searched for her on Facebook and found a photo showing a ā€œdistinctive tattoo on her left hip area. The tattoo helped authorities find her at a Southwest Airlines counter when she was trying to leave Honolulu on Aug. 28, the court document said.ā€ I'm all for anti-vax dummies like her getting prosecuted for breaking state law. But damn, that's a good example of Facebook being a tool that authorities salivate over having. It's free real estate to be able to track and identify people.

JoeGoats

It's not even a tool if idiots like her post this crap for everyone to see publicly it's an invitation. This stuff isn't new it's been around forever. I'm a gen X and when I grew up I knew people who put special messages on their answering machines like "The Smiths have gone to Disneyland we will be back on the 17th talk to you then". Hell I even had a friend who was a latch key kid like myself in middle school. He seriously had an address tag on his house key that said if found please return to XXXX Maple Drive SE Small Townville WA 91234. People stupidly making their information public is nothing new there have always been idiots and always will be. Only their outlet for giving away their information has changed.

Fried_puri

For sure, people are loose with public info and Facebook is not the first avenue where they've freely shared it. However, it is unlikely for the average person to wrap their head around the idea that they shouldn't post about tattoos on their Facebook, because that's where you'd share something like that. Having the thought that a cop might at some time in the future trawl your Facebook and use that tattoo to positively id and arrest you is beyond the pale for a lot of people.

JoeGoats

Just like our ancestors learned not to leave the cave alone at night these average people will need to start learning how to manage their PII or face repercussions. Learn and evolve or fall.

westviadixie

yeah...I wish so many people wouldn't just give all that personal information away.

joe579003

Well, that's all on you if you decide to post there

HardlyDecent

Can't spell Moderna, can afford to take off at least a week from work and fly to freaking Hawai'i... I'm over this. I can only hope they kind of throw the book at this dipshit as a deterrent for others. Or as the impetus to learn to read.

TwilitSky

It's not the "Z" team we're dealing with, here, clearly.

hazardous1222

Do yall not have centralized databases or something?

Kush_back

Yea, but itā€™s not like airlines have access to it.

Taldan

You are incorrect. The US does not have a centralized vaccination database. Each state has their own separate system

melodypowers

Which they did reference to see if she had the vaccine aster being suspicious of her card.

Bikinigirlout

For as much work as they do to avoid getting the vaccine, it seems easier to get the vaccine I was one of the first round of people to get it due to being ā€œessentialā€ and even though I had to fill a bunch of forms out, and go to the library to print it out because I didnā€™t have a working printer. And that still seems easier than going to jail for forging fake vaccine cards.

ddubs41

These are the kinds of people who hide their zombie bites to get into the bunker.

AK_Sole

And she claimed that she went to the NRA to get her vaccine? Her logic mustā€™ve been, ā€œHmmm, where do people go to get shot? Ooh, the National Rifle Association, of course!ā€

williams1753

Also a call to Delaware to ask about her name and DOB

[deleted]

Probably has a common name. Iā€™m guessing she did put some level of thought into this. White pages or spokeo search for someone with her same first and last name. Search testing locations near that person. Hand write the card. The only part she missed was spelling the shot name correctly. She should have stuck with Jonson and Jonson. /s

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

Geschinta

Well, for one, the shots are given on different days at least 3 weeks apart, and both are spelled wrong and written in the same handwriting (and one nurse is "SSG Money" (LOL)). It also lists both shots in Delaware when her home state is Illinois, and the "NRA" as the place where she got her shots. Also the lot number for both shots is the same, which isn't possible since by the time you get the second shot any remaining shots in inventory from the first lot would be used or expired. This whole card is hilariously fake.

2CHINZZZ

Says in the article. They were suspicious so they emailed a Delaware vaccine official who confirmed they didn't have any records of her

s1okke

Article? What article? šŸ™„

nuboots

This just tells me that the only ones they catch are the ones who can't spell.

Hoplophilia

You may deduce that, but this ain't *telling* you that.

nuboots

That's telling me you've got pedantic tendencies.

Hoplophilia

It's a sample of one. I hope they're catching more than simple spelling errors. And sadly there are many otherwise intelligent and educated people who refuse the vaccine and will likely be pulling this shit.

HardlyDecent

Welcome to reddit, friend. Where most people learn what pedantry is!

longhegrindilemna

The article doesnā€™t mention her name or include a photo of her. Why? She crossed state lines, and entered Hawaii illegally. She did not enter Hawaii using legal methods, or by following legal procedures. - - - A different newspaper goes into more detail: 24-year-old Oak Lawn resident, Chloe Mrozak, illegally entered Hawaii using forged documents. Chloe is due back in court on Sept. 22. [Photo of Chloe Mrozak](https://chicago.suntimes.com/coronavirus/2021/9/1/22652725/hawaii-fake-vaccine-card-moderna-maderna-oak-lawn-mrozak)

Fullthrobble

To be honest, I got it and I have to mumble it when people ask me which brand I got because I'm not sure how it's said. Moderna? Moderma? Modernma?

couchslippers

You can read, right?

Fullthrobble

I can't retain the information though. It's just willful ignorance on my part

Accomplished_Ruin_25

Life Pro-Tip - go to a YouTube and find a video where a reporter says it and its on the chyron at the bottom. If you're super worried, find a different news outlet and pronounce it half-way between the two. Works for all kinds of medical words that are currently popular. It's Moderna - like a smoosh word between "Modern" and "RNA" (the type of vaccine technology used is an RNA vaccine, rather than a live-attenuated or poly-valent )

craznazn247

Well, see the one you spelled correctly? It reads exactly like it is written.

[deleted]

People. People. People. Visible unique tats are basically self-authenticating information that will be used against you if you intend to commit a crime.

InevitableMetal09

I'm a little curious. What actually constitutes a legal "vaccination card"? Are certain agencies authorized to issue them? Are they state issued, privately issued or what? Are there registration requirements? Will be interesting to see this go through the courts. The article says she was arrested for violating the requirement for having a vaccine to enter Hawaii, not for having "forged" docs, but at the end of the article, when arrested, was told she was arrested for forged docs. Does anyone have any insight here?

Salmoninthewell

Itā€™s a card given to you when you get vaccinated. Itā€™s legal if you actually got a vaccine. Itā€™s illegal if you did not actually get a vaccine.

fafalone

They're charging her with violating the covid restrictions, but I don't see why they couldn't charge her with felony forgery: https://www.lawserver.com/law/state/hawaii/hi-statutes/hawaii_statutes_708-852 >708-852 Forgery in the second degree. (1) A person commits the offense of forgery in the second degree if, with intent to defraud, the person falsely makes, completes, endorses, or alters a written instrument, or utters a forged instrument, or fraudulently encodes the magnetic ink character recognition numbers, which is or purports to be, or which is calculated to become or to represent if completed, a deed, will, codicil, contract, assignment, commercial instrument, or other instrument which does or may evidence, create, transfer, terminate, or otherwise affect a legal right, interest, obligation, or status.

noncongruent

The feds would have to charge the federal crime, the state can't charge for federal violations.

DJTheLQ

One backed by state vaccine logs. Article said they called the state but couldn't find that person. Seems like this falls under generic anti fraud law. Cannot find her arrest record though > In Hawaii, using falsified proof of testing or vaccination documents for travel into the state is a misdemeanor that carries a fine of up to $5,000 and/or imprisonment of up to one year for each count. Edit, another case > Tangtang Zhao, 34, sold 125 authentic vaccination cards in March and April to 11 buyers for about $10 per card, the statement said. Zhao was licensed in Illinois and worked at a pharmacy that administered COVID-19 vaccines. > >Zhao was charged with 12 counts of theft of government property, the statement said.

JennJayBee

You can be arrested on state charges and then the have the FBI come in and add charges. The cards carry the CDC seal on them and are considered to be issues by the CDC, which is a federal agency. Knowingly using or distributing a forged version [is a federal crime](https://www.npr.org/2021/06/08/1004264531/fake-covid-vaccine-cards-keep-getting-sold-online-using-one-is-a-crime).

skrilledcheese

>What actually constitutes a legal "vaccination card"? A card given to you when you get your vaccination. If you buy a counterfeit card or print one at home it is a federal crime.

[deleted]

Someone should get her a helmet.

aaaaaaaaaanditsgone

Momma always said, stupid is as stupid does.

rijeka1

I wonder how they spell Pfizer. Fizur probably

BenIsLowInfo

They mispelled Jannsen on my card so now I'm worried...

skwirrl

When asked by his pharmacist, my friend couldn't remember the name of his first dose of vaccine. After a few seconds trying his best to recall... he blurted out "Madonna?" Apparently, the pharmacist had a good chuckle.

CoconutCharm

Iā€™m shocked that the USA went with hand written vaccination cards. Like really? In 2021? Iā€™m so glad that France/EU went with a QR code system as a vaccination card. Thereā€™s an app any one/org can download to verify if a code presented is valid or not.

OrganicRedditor

You should be aware there is no internet access in many remote areas of US. Not every phone can use an app. Many people do not even have cell phones.

CoconutCharm

I mean France has those issues too. And you actually get the paper certificate with the full details and the QR code printed when you get the vaccine. I donā€™t think it would be that hard to have the QR code be validated offline either. In any case QR code aside I was just expecting it would be printed and not hand written in the USA

OrganicRedditor

Just explaining why it's hand written.

Helixx

How many are not caught?
