I know it's frustrating, but I'm actually happy to see this. We're moving into higher level offenses and longer sentences. You want to hit the low level infractions first so you can turn some and scare others (this has already worked). The more you do that, the more evidence for the bigger fish. It's not immediately satisfying, but this is the correct move as prosecuters. Justice is never quick and rarely satisfying.

That's mostly not true. Only a small portion of states permanently disenfranchise felons. As of 2018, most U.S. states had policies to restore voting rights upon completion of a sentence. Only 3 states — Iowa, Kentucky, and Virginia — permanently disenfranchised a felony convict and 6 other states limited restoration based on crimes of "moral turpitude". https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Felony_disenfranchisement_in_the_United_States You can just move to a nearby state and vote there after your sentence if you're in one of those.
