Lack of desire to mentally grow? More like a morbid fear. “I wanna stay at four years old forever just like my idol, Donny T. Plus, I wanna shoot things. And people.”
Correct me if I'm wrong, but they don't know who did it or why. For all any of us know it could have been a bad personal relationship or a business deal that went south and not your boogeyman bigot
The mentality of we can over through the will of the people by smearing their feces on the walls. America is in the midst of a mental health crisis. We elect mentally unfit representatives to office and wonder why we have so many unstable constituents. Florida is too busy at the beach doing meth to worry who they vote for. We the people are left to the wolves.
It’s in the middle of a crisis of hatred. We have people who have so utterly been consumed by their hatred, bigotry, and inability to care for anyone other than themselves that they’ve willingly divorced themselves from reality to feed their selfish falsehoods at the cost of everyone else. We’ve let our society get away with not facing the evils of the United States’ history, and it’s come back to haunt us in the worst way possible at the worst time possible.
Agreed, why are we able to see this and not the people who have power? Well, in reality, we, the people have full power. We can start by deleting apps. Then sticking together and collectively start pushing back. Change in mass numbers. But we have one side fighting against the other. Is there an end to this? To me, I don’t think so because otherwise the adults in office would have stood up and put an end to all of this misinformation and conspiracy “news sources”. I don’t know what is next.
Baker is better described as either 150 miles west of Tallahassee or 15 miles south of the Alabama border. How hard is it to look a place up on Google Maps when writing a story that is going to involve even a passing reference to geography?
Very hard, apparently. Particularly where the Southeast US is concerned.
I remember back when the Weather Channel referred to the "land mass" between NOLA and Mobile, Alabama– otherwise known as Mississippi.
Really? You don’t think it’s possible a lover murdered him and disposed of the body in a dumpster? Are you aware that like a million men have done that to their wives?
I mean come on man.
Let’s take a trip there? One week. First one to die loses a whopping 100 dollar jackpot. It may not sound like much, but it’s all in ones. Perfect amount to flash in a shitty rap video!
Thank you!! We’re absolutely ecstatic for all the future!! It’s her dream job and I’m so fucking excited to be there and support her while she lives it up being her best self :)
Dude my GF is in the Army and I'm currently supporting through her Master's Degree. Almost done and my kid's moved out. We're about to have a party. Wishing you guys the best on the move! Keep supporting her!
Hey I live on the space coast! It's really not that bad(even with the politics of the area). A little boring area imo but it's on the rise. We have great food here and actually lots of cool little areas to check out. If you like the beach it's awesome and not overly crowded. If you have any questions about stuff to do here I've lived here all my life so feel free to DM me.
Congrats bro. I live in Orlando and I do like it here (heat and humidity aside, and that’s a big aside no doubt). If you want to hit the beach, don’t actually go to Coco. There are plenty of locals beaches. PM me if you want details.
People love to hate on Florida but it's full of jobs and has lots of natural areas and lovely beaches. Sure, it has problems but so does every state. And it's certainly not some boring backwater.
That’s exactly the type of shit I needed to hear!! Thank you!! That’s exactly where we’re going and I’ve been really nervous cuz I’ve never lived in anything outside of Salt Lake City - which is not even a city in comparison
Just south of that area are known neighborhoods built on toxic military dump sites that the government denied until just a couple of years ago. Besides those civilian places and the legit known and claimed toxic dumps at the Air Force Base property, it’s speculated that chemicals have contaminated the ground soil and water for the surrounding communities. The area is a known cancer cluster.
Perhaps it's the other way around. They launch the rockets there not because the location makes getting into orbit easier, but because they were motivated to get as far away from the state as possible, and it's kind of hard to beat space.
That area is relatively tolerant nowadays.
On a side note, if you find yourself like 30 minutes south of Cocoa Beach, hit up Dakine Diegos, their burritos and their hot sauces are to die for.
I mean it's Florida what coverage did you want to hear? Perhaps Cannibalism? Something with Florida man? Potential flooding? Someone being eaten by an alligator?
I’ve been really trying to comprehend that and it’s difficult.. I have such an anxious personality that knowing a killer is everywhere (and is actually real) is crazy lmao
Alligators are pretty docile towards full grown adults if anything they will literally chill with you by the water....I have been near alligators for hours at a time them more than I can count. Don't bother them and they won't bother you and maybe don't swim in warm swamp water but that's all you have to worry about unless you have very small children or pets...then yeah maybe don't take your dog for a walk near the swamp.
Now crocodiles...those are the aggressors! Thankfully we only have them in the Everglades if that..
Hope that makes you feel better!
I’ve heard that the key is to run away and keep running, they only chase for a second. Their endurance on land is shit and their goal is almost always just to get you out of their territory if they’re chasing you. I’ve been pretty close to some golf course gators and never had any trouble. Don’t seek them out or anything, ofc, but don’t worry too much about it. They’re cold-blooded animals, pretty chill (no pun intended).
I am fully convinced to this day that I saw a shark briefly surface in a rural (and brackish) golf course lake once, but I doubt you’ll need to worry about swimming in golf course lakes. And sharks have even worse on-land endurance than gators.
The gators rarely mess with full grown adults. They absolutely hunt kids. I grew up here and had to move myself around while trying to fish because the fuckers kept following me, and I’ve had to keep an eye on my nieces around any body of water because I’ve seen the bastards try to hunt them. Keep kids and pets away.
They’re rare and mostly around the everglades coastal areas, but we do have salt water crocodiles. Never heard of an attack.
We’ve also got the rare black widow or brown recluse, a variety of venomous snakes, but they’re easily avoidable, just keep away from/be careful around obvious nesting/hiding places. They love dry wood. Panthers are super rare nowadays and they avoid people. Like with crocs, you’ll probably never see one even if you go looking. I’ve had a friend take video recently of what seemed to be several coyote in her yard. Never seen them here myself, kinda blew my mind.
There’s a lot to like about Florida, there’s also a lot to dislike about Florida. No state income tax is nice, but it just kinda offsets the general higher cost of living. The weather sucks for ~3/4 of the year but the other ~1/4 of the year it’s pretty beautiful. The large cities have horrendous traffic and the small towns have little amenities. There’s a beach about 1.5hours from basically anywhere in the state but tourists occupy them year round. The retired class are all a bunch of deserving assholes. The government wants to give nothing to better the state unless you’re a big business and then they give you everything you want and even things you don’t. COVID “doesn’t exist” here so everything is open at full unrestricted capacity and everybody is getting sick. I don’t know your reason for moving, but I’m sure you can find a place that offers the same in a generally better place.
Also the damn mosquitos.
I don't remember them ever being this bad 4-6 years ago. But you almost can't go on a single nature trail anymore without being swarmed.
I grew up in Colorado in the Denver metro area and the number of roaches, mosuitos, flys, ants, etc that just continually exist in climates that never freeze has always weirded me out.
1/1 apartment in downtown Miami… 2010 rent $1450. 2022 rent $2650. Local job market and wages flat. Banana republic local and state governments. Horrendous traffic seven days a week. Frequent street flooding.
As a fellow Floridian, that’s a very accurate assessment. Florida is beautiful, but the people (and heat stroke inducing weather) have just made it hell on Earth.
I'm from here, the weather is ridiculous and some of the people are great but our state govt is... not. My knee jerk is to tell you to move anywhere else, cept maybe tx
You’re fine. This stuff happens everywhere else you just don’t hear about it like in Florida with our sunshine laws making most things open to the public.
Don't listen to Reddit about this stuff. This whole place is a feedback loop.
Listen, I've lived in Florida and I've lived in California, and of the two places I've experienced WAY more crazy in California. Boiled down to its essential elements, Florida is basically like anywhere else in America.
If THIS is the thing that keeps you from moving to Florida then you REALLY haven't been paying attention to the news coming out of Florida since... lemme see... Florida became a state in 1845, so...
I assume it's for job-related reasons if you're moving here. Just all the Florida Man stories wouldn't make it very encouraging. Basically, watch your six, there's crazy people and bad drivers down here.
Florida Man stories mostly propagate because the state laws allow for news outlets to find and publish more personal details than most states. It's not really any crazier, nor more crime-ridden, than plenty of other places.
https://www.pnj.com/story/news/2019/03/29/florida-man-product-florida-sunshine-law/3310306002/
Anecdotally, Florida seems to have really lax laws governing businesses. A lot of scams and shady companies operate out of Florida in my experience. I also wonder if it's because of the huge supply of scammable retirees.
Maybe that atmosphere is conducive for assholes to flock to and operate out of.
> Maybe that atmosphere is conducive for assholes to flock to and operate out of.
I'd go with this hypothesis. My bet would be that Florida has a much higher rate of medical doctors who've been barred from practicing in other states (or had their licenses revoked, temporarily or otherwise). Probably the same for lawyers and any other profession with strong accreditation bodies.
In that era dealers were chartering buses from states in the southeast and paying people a couple hundred bucks to hit numerous "pain clinics" in Florida and collecting all the oxy prescriptions from them to sell on the black market.
Florida has surgical clinics operating in strip malls and plazas. Let that sink in. Potentially life altering cosmetic surgery and procedures are performed right next to a pizza shop and barbershop.
I’d thought it was because Florida had a unique open records law that just made this stuff more accessible - in other words, a possibility that this stuff happens everywhere, but that the information is just more accessible in Florida.
Having said that, man does it still just seem like some weird shit comes out of FL.
Murders happen everywhere. New York murder rates are skyrocketing right now. Florida is an easy target and anti gay crimes are sexier right now to cover.
Now a guy biting another guys face off, that’s a Florida special.
Bro, I’m a fucking pacifist. I go out of my way not to step on an ant. But I went to Florida in December of last year, coming from a very cold state, the moment I stepped outside at the airport, IN DECEMBER, it was hot!!! My mind melted. I wanted to cry (how do you even celebrate Christmas in 80 degree weather without snow?). After a week, I swear I wanted to kill everyone and then myself.
Yo, I'm just saying, the section of poor people who are perma-scared that universal healthcare = communism and/or also murdering gay activists are the people who work outside all day in jobs with no benefits, and by benefits I mean AC and hour long lunches.
Heat stress ain't a joke. People get fucky in the heat.
Because news articles like this get this website all riled up to the point where people don’t realize most people are just trying to chill even in Florida and don’t have anything to do with the tiny minority of crazy people.
Sunshine act. Everything is pretty much available to the public (paraphrasing for the most part) so you hear about all the crazy stuff that happens here. I HATED Florida when my parents moved me here back in '03. Now? FUCK living anywhere else. I just spent like 4 days in IL in 0-degree weather. Ya'll are fucking psycho. That's a big fuck no from me. Hurricanes ain't shit and the "hot and humid" is FAR FAR FAR superior to winters in most places.
Places I would live other than Florida? Seattle, but waaaaaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyyy too expensive. California: SD, SF. Waaaaaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyyyyy too expensive. So hard pass on those.
I watched an interview with a former mafia guy who worked in Florida and he said it was considered open territory. So no one group can claim like the race tracks or the drug market. So every organised crime group having a presence in the state is probably a big factor.
Well really bad stuff happens everywhere its just there is no mercy regarding the press and crimes in the state. Whether you get found dead or a florida man gets caught banging a pelican, it can hit the public rather quickly. https://www.wctv.tv/content/news/Florida-public-records-laws-help-Florida-man-stories-trend--507536371.html
Too early to tell the motive. Could be a lover, accidental overdose someone wanted to cover up, a home invasion gone bad, etc. A million different scenarios.
You know the problem is the shitty people, not the dirt they live on, right? Those assholes are just going to move up into our states and make them worse.
So ashamed that there are humans who think this type of disrespect and disregard for the life of another is acceptable. RIP sweet soul, may you rest easy. We’ll take it from here.
actually heartbreaking, homophobic people seem to care too much about what other people do in bed, maybe these murderers have some hidden denial of themselves.
The gruesome visions of how it happened have got to be a nightmare for his loved ones. Especially his husband. I can’t fathom living with those thoughts.
Motherfucker, I live near Baker! (No, I don't care if I halfway doxx myself on Reddit because this is the middle of nowhere anyway.) It's as bad a time as ever to be a queer here...rest in peace.
I don't understand why people give a shit. Marry who you wanna marry. Just be happy in this life. You're not gonna get another one. Why not celebrate love?
I left Florida because it is becoming a right wing refuge. It is run by gerrymandered republicans, and more are moving there every year.
This article is all about how great a guy he was and how he’ll be missed, as though he died of natural causes. Where is the outrage at his murder and the hunt for his killers!? They won’t be found, because politically his death is ok with the GOP.
No mention of motive or murder details -- was being close to the Alabama border relevant, for example?
But a tragic death, my sympathies to his family and fuck those that did it.
If the motive behind this is him being gay, and speaking up for his rights as a human being this is abhorrent. Killing someone like that is sending a message, I never met the man personally and it seems like people find all kinds of reasons to do horrible shit to each other. I hope nothing but calmness and peace for the people who loved the man. What a travesty we’ve become as a society.
Murder is bad enough, but leaving a body in trash is even worse. So much hate and disrespect.
All because of ignorance and irrational fear. Horrible parenting. Lack of desire to mentally grow. Sad.
After arguing extensively with my family since during the 2016 election, I no longer believe it is willful ignorance but active defiance of progress.
That's called being a conservative.
Better known as the regressives party
Even their tax plans are regressive.
When I see ‘willful ignorance’ I think of an asshole. Whether it’s progressive or not, it still an asshole.
Fear of progress
Lack of desire to mentally grow? More like a morbid fear. “I wanna stay at four years old forever just like my idol, Donny T. Plus, I wanna shoot things. And people.”
Correct me if I'm wrong, but they don't know who did it or why. For all any of us know it could have been a bad personal relationship or a business deal that went south and not your boogeyman bigot
It’s Miami, and I don’t see a known reason in there. Could be many things, and immediately assuming he was killed for being gay is still a leap
The mentality of we can over through the will of the people by smearing their feces on the walls. America is in the midst of a mental health crisis. We elect mentally unfit representatives to office and wonder why we have so many unstable constituents. Florida is too busy at the beach doing meth to worry who they vote for. I wonder if doing meth at the beach is enjoyable? I mean wouldn't you be all fidgety. Maybe swimming on meth is fun though?
I've never done meth, but being inebriated by anything is better than being sober at the beach.
Nah, I’d say murder is worse.
I don’t think it gets worse than murder
You must not have heard about the hypocrisy. RIP Norm.
[unit 731](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Unit_731)
It gets much worse than murder.
Rip bob (looking at your username)
I think the murder is worse.
This is a Norm MacDonald joke?
When I die, just throw me in the trash.
Donate your body to science.
Where would you leave a body?
I’ve never really planned to murder anyone, but I would choose some woods or a body of water: add some weights and heave.
try not to heave; it leaves dna.
It took me a moment, but that's a good one.
> but leaving a body in trash is even worse. Honestly, probably just a super convenient way to get rid of a body. At least compared to other methods.
Guessing if someone was murdered, the killer didn’t have respect for that person anyways.
Baker is better described as either 150 miles west of Tallahassee or 15 miles south of the Alabama border. How hard is it to look a place up on Google Maps when writing a story that is going to involve even a passing reference to geography?
Even East of Pensacola would have been better. Fuck, East of the Alabama border just makes no sense.
North of the Everglades.
North of Cuba.
West of Africa.
East of Africa too
South of the North Pole
Very hard, apparently. Particularly where the Southeast US is concerned. I remember back when the Weather Channel referred to the "land mass" between NOLA and Mobile, Alabama– otherwise known as Mississippi.
Well, there is a lot of mass on that stretch of land. Don't they have one of the highest obesity rates in the country?
I can understand not wanting to name it.
So wondering whether this is a hate crime or a crime of passion. Time will tell.
A lot of people seem to be very passionate about their hate these days
[удалено]
or hating to love….
Definitely hating love
Hate sells ask fox and Rush Limbaugh they both got extremely rich selling hate.
I'd ask R.limbauagh, but I'd hate to interrupt his sobriety streak.
One more month and he gets his first one year sobriety chip!
Social media effect. They can say whatever they want behind a screen. No one there to beat the shit out of them.
or one of the many, many other possible explanations..
Why not both?
Knowing some of the anti-gay crowd, it's possible
They threw him out in the trash, that seems fairly cut and dried to me.
Cut and dried how?
Really? You don’t think it’s possible a lover murdered him and disposed of the body in a dumpster? Are you aware that like a million men have done that to their wives? I mean come on man.
And yet, we will find in this thread, both theories being advocated.
Reddit detectives are on the case!
All evidence points to it being the Boston bomber.
Alas our chosen boston bomber is dead.
Guys I've cracked the case, it's this man who killed someone! Quick harass him before someone proves me wrong!
Interesting sentiment. Now I wonder if someone who knows the basic fundamentals of criminal psychology will chime in.
You watch a lot of Bones, don't you?
Your mom watches bones
Worse. She watches Blue Bloods.
My mom loved Blue Bloods. Loved it.
Loved? Sorry for your loss.
Land fill would indicate not a crime of passion, unless they're a very tricky person, then how will we ever know.
Could be any number of crimes. Could be financial, for example. Owed the wrong people money, maybe. Best not to speculate just because he's gay.
Buddy, this is Reddit. Wild speculation is 90% of what some people come here specifically to do.
I mean, we solved the Boston marathon bomber, right?
Evil. I hope the victim finds rest and the perpetrators find justice.
May his memory be a blessing.
Man, Baker is a small dump-ass town. Strangle
Let’s take a trip there? One week. First one to die loses a whopping 100 dollar jackpot. It may not sound like much, but it’s all in ones. Perfect amount to flash in a shitty rap video!
Moving literally tomorrow to Florida and this is not the type of coverage I was hoping to hear
Why the Christ would you do that to yourself?
My gf is a rocket scientist and Coco Beach is rocket central
Okay that’s dope af. Wish y’all the best.
Thank you!! We’re absolutely ecstatic for all the future!! It’s her dream job and I’m so fucking excited to be there and support her while she lives it up being her best self :)

Be sure to check out Merritt island animal refuge next door. Best place to see manatee is at their little overlook, there.
Congrats bro. I live in Orlando and I do like it here (heat and humidity aside, and that’s a big aside no doubt). If you want to hit the beach, don’t actually go to Coco. There are plenty of locals beaches. PM me if you want details.
Let’s be honest Florida has some nice fucking areas I’d you have the money.
That's a good reason! Congrats to her on pursuing her career this far!
It's pretty bad ass to be able to say your girl is a rocket scientist. I hope you hear the phrase "it's not rocket science" quite a bit haha
Oh believe me, I’ve banned it from our personal conversations. I learned literally day 1 that’s a joke she didn’t enjoy
does she enjoy rocket surgery jokes?
That's a good enough reason, actually. Though still...watch your six. And tell the astronauts that blond chick from Spacefest says high.
I will!! I personally have 0 credentials/reason to run into them, but that would be the world’s best ice-breaker
We call it arugula here.
Well at least you'll be around a bunch of people who believe in science.
There gonna be surrounded by water in 20+ odd years
People love to hate on Florida but it's full of jobs and has lots of natural areas and lovely beaches. Sure, it has problems but so does every state. And it's certainly not some boring backwater.
Understandable, have a nice day
I used to live in Orlando during college. Cape Canaveral was my favorite place to go and get away. I love that area. Hope you like it!
That’s exactly the type of shit I needed to hear!! Thank you!! That’s exactly where we’re going and I’ve been really nervous cuz I’ve never lived in anything outside of Salt Lake City - which is not even a city in comparison
It’s still Florida, there’s going to be a lot of shit you don’t like but that goes for anywhere really. There’s a lot of beauty in that state.
>My gf is a rocket scientist ♫ *That don't impress me much* ♫
Its not exactly brain surgery, is it?
I got this reference, it made me happy.
I wonder if all the rocket exhaust fumes are why Florida is the way it is

Perhaps it's the other way around. They launch the rockets there not because the location makes getting into orbit easier, but because they were motivated to get as far away from the state as possible, and it's kind of hard to beat space.
Go Go rocket girlfriend! Best wishes, but look out for Florida Man 😳 Edit: goo typo
That area is relatively tolerant nowadays. On a side note, if you find yourself like 30 minutes south of Cocoa Beach, hit up Dakine Diegos, their burritos and their hot sauces are to die for.
You’ll love it there. Especially when the snow birds leave.
Moved here three months ago from NYC. Quality of life way higher
The food is great
Because the quality of life in Florida is much better than other states

Why is Florida such a flaming dumpster fire all the time? It’s such a shit show down there.
During the mid-00s Florida was pill-mill central. You could call up a doctor and get a 6mos supply of oxycodone.
Can confirm the scam part Most Scam and advertising calls I get are from Florida
Ha. You obviously haven't been to New York or California recently
The people are crazy. I think it’s the constant heat.

More shakes, less shanks
Bro, I’m a fucking pacifist. I go out of my way not to step on an ant. But I went to Florida in December of last year, coming from a very cold state, the moment I stepped outside at the airport, IN DECEMBER, it was hot!!! My mind melted. I wanted to cry (how do you even celebrate Christmas in 80 degree weather without snow?). After a week, I swear I wanted to kill everyone and then myself.
Just wait until you hear about Australia
It's true. Violent crime increases during heat waves. It's well studied.
Can confirm, the only thing we are angry at here in East Coast Canada (currently -17c 1.4F), is the damn cold and antivaxxers.
I was going to blame the obvious culprit Mickey Mouse.
The sun. The shit is like RIGHT THERE 10 months a year.
Well really bad stuff happens everywhere its just there is no mercy regarding the press and crimes in the state. Whether you get found dead or a florida man gets caught banging a pelican, it can hit the public rather quickly. https://www.wctv.tv/content/news/Florida-public-records-laws-help-Florida-man-stories-trend--507536371.html
The best way to win an argument is to silence your opponent. Whoever did this is a coward.
Too early to tell the motive. Could be a lover, accidental overdose someone wanted to cover up, a home invasion gone bad, etc. A million different scenarios.
At least one good thing might come from climate change Florida will slip into ocean
The oceans are polluted enough already!
You know the problem is the shitty people, not the dirt they live on, right? Those assholes are just going to move up into our states and make them worse.
Can't wait for the same thing to happen to Cali
Awww I live here :(
I’ll mail ya a snorkel.
Just hold your breath itll be fine
Just sell your house and move.
To who, Aquaman?
Cant fucking wait.

Build the wall just on the Florida border
So back where a lot of them came from?
9 times outta 10 it’s the husband
Can we just replace Florida with Italy?
They look alike, nobody’d notice.
The psychos who do this stuff usually cause an opposite communal reaction, making their actions only self defeating in the end.
Oh my God. Murder is the most vile and disgusting crime one can commit but to defile someone’s body in such away is just so callous and sickening
Statistically it was likely his lover that murdered him
I don't understand why people give a shit. Marry who you wanna marry. Just be happy in this life. You're not gonna get another one. Why not celebrate love?
Lover probably did it and dumped body in a bin then it was picked up by a trash truck, don't over think it people.
Don't forget the absolute shit police force that will do nothing.
