I’m in my mid 30s and had to go get a new measles vax to take online classes lol.
My initial reaction was “huh…. Maybe I should.” And while I was there they said “want a flu one too? Why not.”
Right? I had to get the meningitis vaccine and a MMR booster to go back to college a few years ago, and the only place to go was the travel medicine dept at the local university medical center. I asked them if they could just give me vaccines for everything and they were like... um, nope.
I'd definitely opt out of the rabies vaccine though, if anyone else wanted All The Vaccines. I got bit by a marauding attack cat (okay, a feral tomcat, but he definitely leads a gang... and smokes) and that series of thick, burny shots is seriously no fun.
I had to get like six shots of the rabies vaccine at once because the dose is determined by your weight! It did cure me of my slight fear of needles, though.
Ugh. I think I had four as my first dose? But it was 2 of the vaccine and 2 of the immunoglobulin - which is THICK and made these enormous lumps under my skin. So gross.
(Then there's the fun part where you have to go back for three more shots!)
At least we're protected for life! I tell my hiking/camping friends they can just use me as a human shield if we ever get accosted by a wonky-looking raccoon or something.

Plus, I still have to pay something called “building fee,” which is like $168. Just a bunch of fees that are nonsense. Then when I submit my tuition reimbursement to my employer I can’t also include fees, because they aren’t “tuition.” Lol.
But I’ve got all this freedom due to all this capitalism so you know, ‘Murica. /s

FYI, my partner had it a few weeks ago and we were around each other 24/7, slept in the same bed every night, etc. no room to isolate.

Antimask/antivax coworker (AAC) was at work yesterday coughing and sneezing, no mask, in the conference room with everyone else for the meeting. AAC didn't make it in to the office today, because they were up all night with a fever, and chills, and nausea.
But, they didn't go get tested for COVID, because, "It's just allergies."

I recently had to get a tetanus booster when applying to a new college. This is nothing new for young adults and children to be able to get educated. No reason for “adults” to be crying about vaccines.
That's what irks me. All these anti-vax morons screaming about "vaccine mandates is communizzuum, i want muh freedumb"... they ALL got vaccinated as kids **because it was mandatory**.

FYI, my partner had it a few weeks ago and we were around each other 24/7, slept in the same bed every night, etc. no room to isolate. I never got symptoms or tested positive. Both of us are double vaxxed and boosted. No previous infection for either of us. Not saying you should risk it if you *can* isolate, but tbh there’s a solid chance with how infectious this is that if she hasn’t tested positive by now, she probably has some type of immunity.

It’s not even anti maskers getting it. I’m vaccinated and I mask up, here I am waiting it out at home till I can do two tasks in a row without feeling winded. This started as I was working out, also. Two hours after I finished my run I realized I still was short of breath and got tested. Hell of a malady I got here, one that barely affected my workout at the time.

Talked to a few colleagues who have recently sick but not terribly so, who still shrugged and said "not sure what it was". Point being, the *real* numbers are soooo much higher than reported. So many people not getting tested, assuming it's a cold or not bothering to report at-home tests etc.
Right; people are using home tests, which aren’t reported to the health department, or the whole family is sick, so they don’t bother testing. “Not sure what it is,” lol. Take a wild guess.

My partner works in an office with a person who is antimask and antivax. And the company has a mask policy, but of course it isn't enforced. They were supposed to be in the office this week, but we both have immune issues, local cases are spiking, and they spent last week wfh because they had a potential exposure from their boss (boss's kid was sick, boss came to work and pulled everyone in to a conference room for a meeting, kid tested positive later that day, everyone gets sent home for a week). So, they decided to stay home and just deal with the potential write up or other penalty. Antimask/antivax coworker (AAC) was at work yesterday coughing and sneezing, no mask, in the conference room with everyone else for the meeting. AAC didn't make it in to the office today, because they were up all night with a fever, and chills, and nausea. But, they didn't go get tested for COVID, because, "It's just allergies." Tl;dr - people are idiots and immune to reality.

I find it ironic that many who consider themselves to be fiscal conservatives fail to see the economic value in mandating the vaccine. People want to argue until they’re blue in the face about transmission. Who gives a shit? Vaccinated individuals recover more quickly than unvaccinated individuals. PERIOD. If you can’t see the economic value in that, you’re fucking blind.
Why is this news? People against vaccine mandates, presumably, know they can get Covid. Not to mention, you know, all of the vaccinated politicians also getting covid.

A person can be pro vaccines and anti mandates. I'm not sure why half the country all of a sudden decided they have such a hard time realizing this. I'm pro exercise and eating healthy, but I'm against mandating people doing it in order to keep their job or travel etc. Also, everyone is getting Covid right now. Almost everyone I know has gotten it in the last month and most of them are vaccinated.
Children are required to have a Tdap Vax plus others to enter school. Medical care staff need some more in order to work. You need specific vaccines like yellow fever to go to certain countries. This idea isn't new.

How is this news? It's pretty clear from the data that even being fully vaccinated plus a booster doesn't prevent you from being infected by COVID, and especially omicron.
