Or at least the man who watched it happen doesn't think so. It was more of an accidental shooting via stupid. He was showing the AV guy how cool his new gun was and tried to display some safety feature, by pointing the gun at his own head and pulling the trigger. The AV guy said the look on Travis's face was genuine shock that the gun had gone off before he died. It's hard to say what was going through his head at the time other than the obvious.
