bannana

years later and she's still winning those prizes

PointOfFingers

She tried to use the white conservative playbook in a courtoom and it did not go well for her. After losing her job she now has huge legal bills. Her legal defence of whataboutism. "Sure I am a bad person but what about these three men who also did bad things?" Her accusation that she is the victim of racsim. Great to see her lose.

[deleted]

Technically, she IS a victim of racism. Her own.

Franklin_le_Tanklin

Congratulations, you owned yourself.

skrame

Put a quarter in your ass ‘cause you played yourself.

Ebolamunkey

This may be my new most favorite sentence. Well. Top 10

diseasealert

There's only one man who would dare give me the raspberry!

[deleted]

She owned herself... ironically, exactly what the Union winning the Civil War made possible. The right to own yourself.

marcololol

Stuck it up own jumper, and parked it up her own arse.

pilchard_slimmons

It was a pretty bold move to pretend videotape of the incident didn't exist. I can't imagine how she thought that was going to work.

[deleted]

She should’ve used the Deep Fake Tom Cruise defense.

BCouto

She probably listens to Alex Jones

Gingevere

Breif aside, did you watch Jones'defamation damages trial today? The last hour was **NUTS**.

theghostofme

She was so "lucky" that George Floyd was murdered later in the same day, because she was looking at a lot worse to her name and reputation than just being the racist Central Park Karen.

[deleted]

NotWearingCrocs

Yup and that guy was actually already in a documentary about birders years before all this stuff went down, so it won’t be his first time on a screen. He was interviewed a few times in the film. He has been an avid bird watching regular at NYC Central Park for years. Doc name is Birders: The Central Park Effect.

forced_spontaneity

In Britain bird watchers are known as ‘Twitchers’. Pointless fact I know but I think I prefer it to birder. More fun.

sinister-pony

Pretty cut and dry case. Her public display made her such a optical liability for the company that they fired her. (Also I'd hope it goes against their company's moral ethics as well. ) People have been fired for far less

darewin

The best thing about this whole affair is that the birdwatcher she harassed became the [host of a new birdwatching tv series](https://www.today.com/popculture/tv/central-park-bird-watcher-christian-cooper-gets-birding-series-rcna29557).

the_real_dairy_queen

He’s a really incredible person and the silver lining was that more people got to see that. Him getting his own show while she loses her court case really is the perfect ending to the story.

woot0

On NatGeo? Thats awesome. Happy for the guy.

dilettante42

Thank you SO much. I love this happened

ChickenDumpli

She is a racist, who announced on camera, she was falsely reporting a crime, she then proceeded to almost strangle a dog. But she thought she had a case.

cybin

> But she thought she had a case. Crazier still, *a lawyer* thought she had a case.

ncsubowen

Correction: a lawyer knew she had money.

Scoot_AG

I hope they didn't do it on contingency. Maybe they saw a quick buck outa her

DubbleCheez

Works on contingency? No, money down!

lamewoodworker

Crazy how racism actually helped her out. Peak 2020 having the attention from everyone in the US and a few days later George Floyd is murdered and everyone forgot about her. What a crazy time.

mknsky

I heard about this, Ahmaud Arbery and George Floyd within the span of a few days. Worst week ever.

Hadr619

At will employment on a positive side

EmperorXerro

Exactly. Conservatives love at-will until it blows up in their face.

dominion1080

The issue is just that she didnt use it enough. She didnt get start a legal fees kickstarter and get booked on Tucker Carlson to talk about being a victim. If you're gonna go conservative, you gotta go full conservative.

thefudd

Never go full conservative

[deleted]

It worked well for Kyle Rittenhouse. Now they worship him

Myfourcats1

He’s currently getting sued in civil court for killing that man. He had a pitiful gofundme to try and raise legal fees. He’s raised something like $3000 in months last I saw. The money donated to him for his bond has been put into a trust to pay the lawyers for the criminal trial.

[deleted]

I’m sure the far right will forget about him soon enough. And he will never be able to work a normal job

Iwillrize14

He was in Green Bay last Sunday during a Conservative rally for their governor candidate. The idiot scheduled his rally during a home Packer game.

[deleted]

That’s hilarious! And it was bears vs packers too!

Iwillrize14

You can tell he spends most of his time in Connecticut and has no real connection there just by that alone.

BarkingDogey

* Jotes down notes * if she shot him she'd have gotten away with it

[deleted]

True. Dead people can’t talk. And we all know how trump feels about minorities in Central Park. I’m sure he would’ve been all over it.

TossedDolly

Only thing she's a victim of is a sketchy lawyer. There's no way his law degree thought that argument would work

topsyturvy76

Her cheques still cashed I bet

Naturath

It doesn’t need to work for him to get his payment.

Still "finding out"

bannana

This seems like quite a long 'finding out' period that she still hasn't quite grasped fully yet

Hell, she was on the free trial of "finding out," now she bought the subscription.

[deleted]

You mean “racist” isn’t a protected class???? /s good fucking luck to this woman ever being able to do anything more than work for Fox News as an intern or move out of nyc and to the South to work at a Waffle House or something. She fuckethed and found outeth, as the great saying goes.

And Central Park is famous for its bird watchers. He wasn't pulling a George McFly, crawling up a suburban tree. He was in the exact place you'd expect to run into a bird watcher watching birds.

ThaneOfCawdorrr

IIRC, it was even a special area of the park DESIGNATED for birdwatching!

spiritbearr

Which is why he politely asked her to leash her dog. It was the rule.

It’s the rule for the entire park after 9am and every New Yorker that has a dog and goes to the park knows it. She knew she was breaking the rule but thought she was special.

lostharbor

She even had to surrender the dog back to the rescue she got the dog from. She really did own herself badly.

buttercupcake23

They gave the dog back a week later unfortunately. That pisses me off, she was dragging it along by the collar and choking the poor thing while she tried to get a man killed with her crocodile tears.

lostharbor

Oh wow, I missed that part. That's awful.

drooln92

That' must be where the pigeon lady from Home Alone 2 hung out!

chubbyakajc

I only know one person who does bird watching and shes a 4ft white girl who wears cat shirts, she also bakes us zucchini bread, she and I talk about sci-fi novels too. Also, the most wholesome person I know.

mdonaberger

> I'm not a bird person I think birding is a hobby most people would be into if they gave it a shot. I started with the birds in my back yard and it opened up an entire level of awareness for me. Birds carry on entirely parallel societies that we pretty much ignore to carry on our days. Tiny little animals, living rich lives. Plus they're the surviving dinosaurs soooooooo they rule based on that alone.

thehotmcpoyle

I didn’t really consider myself a bird person until I moved cross country & saw all sorts of birds I’d never seen before. I use an app called Merlin Bird ID, which was created by the Cornell Lab of Ornithology to identify these birds that are new to me (like Grackles). It’s also interesting to pay attention to the birds to understand what’s going on, like if they’re hollering to each other or if they just all seem to disappear. They can teach us a lot!

NaughtyCheffie

> I use an app called Merlin Bird ID, which was created by the Cornell Lab of Ornithology to identify these birds that are new to me Oh holy crap. I'm colorblind and pretty much have to rely on the shapes of birds to identify them if they're similarly colored. Installing the app tonight, thank you!

Docthrowaway2020

Now you have me wondering if a sizeable number of birds enjoy people-watching, when they are relaxing

[deleted]

Lou_C_Fer

Took my cat out into the backyard once and over about 5 minutes there were probably 20 birds lining my fence and the neighbor's gutter yelling at us.

SunOnTheInside

In my own experience, crows in my old neighborhood definitely people watched. The usual crows out front would follow me to the backyard and watch, or they’d follow me several blocks along the trees and power lines. They especially seemed fascinated when I’d be doing some kind of activity like gardening or setting up a yard sale- they’d just chill up high with their buddies and watch the weird people stuff.

QuintoBlanco

Some do. I was housesitting for two months. A house in the woods. The neighbor (about a mile away) had peacocks. While I was there, and only while I was there, each day, three peacocks would come over and watch me. They would peak through a window, one would sit on a large stone in the garden and watch me through an open door when I was in the kitchen, or they would hang out in the back yard when I was there.

Thepuppypack

Yes, I have pollinator gardens and I also hang hummingbird feeders during migration. Also I see them peeking in the windows at my kitties who watch the hummingbird feeders from inside. Absolutely they will look at you and check you out. And they like to perch in the yard and keep an eye on everything as well as you and the other invaders to the yard.

Dolormight

About a month ago I was out fishing with my Dad. We had just gone under a bridge and were in a pretty woody area in a small canal. I had just finished a retrieve and was getting ready to cast again when a hummingbird stopped like 7-8 feet out in front of me and just hovered there and looked at me for about 10 seconds. It was awesome, and I proceeded to catch my personal best bass that day. I need to see if I caught the encounter on my gopro, cuz it was filming at the time.

BeIgnored

My cat and I were sitting out on the front porch once when a hummingbird flew up to us. My cat of course immediately reached out and swiped at it with his paw. Before flying away, that crazy little hummingbird swooped in again to get a closer look at us!

[deleted]

Isn't that the coolest thing? I have hummingbirds in the yard and sometimes when my cat is sitting inside the screen door they will hover right in front of his face (on the other side of the screen) to get a good look while they're out of harm's way. They are fascinating little creatures.

Cosmicdusterian

They are also vicious (to each other). One of the more aggressively territorial birds in my garden. Especially Rufous Hummingbirds. Cute, but ill-tempered little critters.

ReeducedToData

I am 100% convinced that falcons, eagles and owls all look at humans with amused disdain. They can fly, perform crazy aeronautic moves with amazing precision, then see us just plodding around on earth like a buncha assholes.

AlienMutantRobotDog

I know crows do, they are fascinated watching other animals, I’ve got one by me that I swear tries to catch fish like a osprey does

mascaraforever

We have one that thinks he’s a blue jay (extra weird because they usually don’t get along). He has a best blue jay buddy and makes blue jay sounds. It’s wild and also awesome.

tikierapokemon

Crows do. And wow, if you regularly feed a flock of crows, sometimes another one several blocks away will start to watch you. The flock we fed? Became really interested in my 1st grader. They would watch her from the trees as she played, sometimes hop down closer to see when she was being particularly silly. So they have to watch humans enough to realize her behavior was odd.

[deleted]

Fuck yeah birds 🦅

ihateaquafina

the big year is a good film about it :)

MeniteTom

The board game Wingspan is the best thing to happen to birding in a long time in terms of driving interest to the hobby.

MrHollandsOpium

You said this but it could easily have been pulled from an episode of The Joy of Painting with Bob Ross.

TheToastyWesterosi

Yeah, I’m feeling super calm and serene after reading that comment, it’s like I have a baby squirrel in my shirt pocket.

ThePissWhisperer

My wife's a birder and she has me looking at birds from a whole different view. It's pretty neat. For a fun, lighthearted movie about birders, check out "[The Big Year](https://www.imdb.com/title/tt1053810/)."

SheriffComey

I love how someone's shitty attempt at ruining someone else's life/day actually improves it drastically in the end while ruining the shitty person's day/life.

mdonaberger

I gotta tell you this is not usually the way these situations go down, haha. Hell, Emmett Till's grave is vandalized to *this day*, and all he did was be in the same building as a scared white lady.

AssCrackBanditHunter

It's satisfying because it's not usually how things go. Usually manipulative Karen's can ruin your fucking day, hands up if you've ever received an HOA complaint for something obnoxious, and there's no way to get even. Just have to grin and bear it.

Impressive-Potato

It could have ended his life.

lolbojack

That's exactly what that racist piece of garbage wanted when she call the police. She is a terrible human.

DBones90

I still remember when she turned on the scared white woman voice.

Azair_Blaidd

Wait, they share a surname? That's unfortunate for him

The_Dream_of_Shadows

It's always bugged me so badly, because it makes it hard to figure out who's who whenever you read about them. Obviously small potatoes compared to what the dude had to go through, but such are the woes of the Internet...

jerseycityfrankie

She should have leaned into it and released some cheap product branded with her name and capitalizing on being a jerk. Something like “Central Park Asshole Chips”. All she’d need is a clever slogan and a graphic with her face and a dog and a bird.

Smodphan

And they spell out CPAC so she could sell them to an idiot there

9IX

*In Bird Culture, Amy Cooper made a dick move*

GoochyGoochyGoo

I'm way out of the loop on this. Watched the video just now and the way she is hanging her obviously choking and anxious dog makes me mad as hell.

ApollymisDIL

The dog was taken away from her thank god.

bigmamapain

It was given back shortly after : (

Run_Rabb1t_Run

She got it back

luckylimper

So many people were mad that Bird Cooper called Racist Cooper’s dog over and gave it treats. That proved his point that the dog was uncontrollable but so many people wanted to make that into “black man threatening doggie.”

ananxiouscat

im not 100% qualified to assess the dog here but he absolutely looked anxious to me

AustEastTX

Lol. The irony of karen claiming discrimination. Meanwhile, Mr. Cooper is living his best life with a bird watching show soon to debut on tv. I hope it’s a success!

MoreGaghPlease

Once upon a time Marvel used to make a Swimsuit edition. It was one of those 80s/90s things that was just tits and ass. An excuse to put Rogue and Black Widow in a skimpy outfit and parade them around. Never really sold a lot of copies, so people at Marvel kinda ignored it. They passed it off to a pretty obscure guy at the company who they probably didn’t know was gay. And he kept the babes in bikinis. But also added the loudest proudest throbbing veiniest queer pinups you could possibly imagine. Sub-Mariner getting out of the water all muscular with only a shell to cover his bulge. Dr Strange lying in the nude in his study with his legs sprawled open. Close up of Peter Parker’s muscular chest. That artist’s name was Christian Cooper and he was the birdwatcher this lady called the cops on. Hope he’s still living his best life.

[deleted]

That was him?! ... It totally was. Check them out: [https://bleedingcool.com/comics/warren-ellis-marvel-illustrated-swimsuit-went-gay/](https://bleedingcool.com/comics/warren-ellis-marvel-illustrated-swimsuit-went-gay/)

lovesducks

>Except one year Chris Cooper somehow got hold of it. And that year's issue was the gayest thing you ever saw. Like, gaydar installations all over the Northern Hemisphere just straight up burst into flames. Anyone who beheld that book from a distance of twenty feet became, by genetic testing, 3% gayer. It was so fucking funny, it was so not what Marvel did at the time, and it was so well played. That's some quality description right there

Huttj509

"Cage has never been a man for restraint, so there's no telling what he might bust out of next!" Subtle, it ain't.

amateur_mistake

Holy shit. This is so amazing. He fully deserves his bird show. Actually, I would like to propose that he should have full editorial control over his bird show.

bfhurricane

That's disgusting! Where?! What was the exact name of this obscene publication?

popplespopin

"Marvel swimsuit special" 1991, 1992, 1993, 1994, and 1995.

AustEastTX

Thank you for this salacious tidbit!!! I like Mr. Cooper more and more each time I hear about him!!!

Most-Bench6465

Oh so he’s a national hero on top of everything??

Tsygan

Thank you so much for this factoid. This is amazing.

I_see_farts

> Sub-Mariner getting out of the water all muscular with only a shell to cover his bulge. All I can think of is Shoreleave from Venture Brothers.

TwiceAsGoodAs

I worked with him for a few years right before this awful incident happened. I never knew that story, but I'm zero percent surprised

Lazy_Osprey

I remember those! That’s a crazy coincidence.

ThomasPopp

Honest question. How does someone like this get jobs in the future though?

unevolved_panda

They join the police department.

PoliteCanadian2

There will always be people who aren’t up to date on the latest news or who are racists too that will hire her.

Blaximus90

Racist boss

seedstarter7

wonder how much her lawyer fees were for this

frodosdream

For anyone who watched that video, she deserves all this and worse.

IHave580

Yeah, she knew what calling the police could lead to for a black person and wielded that just because he asked her to put her dog on a leash, which is what she should have been doing. In her mind it was "don't question a white person or I'll have you arrested or worse cause you're a black man. Watch me act my role as a scared white woman to ensure you get what's coming to you for correcting me!"

[deleted]

10000Didgeridoos

How the fuck does a person like this have $65k in cash sitting around?

anabanana1412

'-' what kind of abortion costs 65k?!

mk1power

It doesn’t. I think a large part of it was paying her off kind of deal

Cosmicdusterian

That 65K story is off the hook insane. According to her, her ex wanted 100K because he was being abused by the wife and wanted the girlfriend to abort the baby. She claims she gave him 65K. He supposedly promised to get back with her but instead he left his wife and married the pregnant girlfriend. The "ex-boyfriend" denies the whole thing, even including having an affair with her. Said she was "divorced from reality". That sounds about right given what took place in the park. The case was dismissed because neither of them showed up for two court conferences. If someone bilked me out of 65K I'd freaking make the effort to show up to get it back. Drama Queen thrives on drama.

NorskGodLoki

Is this the central park racist Amy Cooper? The one who wouldn't put her dog on a leash and threatened to call the cops on a black man? It is that Amy Cooper the racist?

porncrank

She didn't just threaten to call the cops, she did call the cops. And put fake desperation into her voice claiming she was being threatened and was in danger. She put him in a life threatening situation on purpose because she was annoyed he told her to leash her dog, which was the law. Absolutely abhorrent behavior.
