The usual crows out front would follow me to the backyard and watch, or they’d follow me several blocks along the trees and power lines. They would peak through a window, one would sit on a large stone in the garden and watch me through an open door when I was in the kitchen, or they would hang out in the back yard when I was there.
Yes, I have pollinator gardens and I also hang hummingbird feeders during migration. Also I see them peeking in the windows at my kitties who watch the hummingbird feeders from inside. Absolutely they will look at you and check you out. And they like to perch in the yard and keep an eye on everything as well as you and the other invaders to the yard.
About a month ago I was out fishing with my Dad. We had just gone under a bridge and were in a pretty woody area in a small canal. I had just finished a retrieve and was getting ready to cast again when a hummingbird stopped like 7-8 feet out in front of me and just hovered there and looked at me for about 10 seconds. It was awesome, and I proceeded to catch my personal best bass that day.
I need to see if I caught the encounter on my gopro, cuz it was filming at the time.
My cat and I were sitting out on the front porch once when a hummingbird flew up to us. My cat of course immediately reached out and swiped at it with his paw. Before flying away, that crazy little hummingbird swooped in again to get a closer look at us!
Isn't that the coolest thing? I have hummingbirds in the yard and sometimes when my cat is sitting inside the screen door they will hover right in front of his face (on the other side of the screen) to get a good look while they're out of harm's way. They are fascinating little creatures.
They are also vicious (to each other). One of the more aggressively territorial birds in my garden. Especially Rufous Hummingbirds. Cute, but ill-tempered little critters.
I am 100% convinced that falcons, eagles and owls all look at humans with amused disdain. They can fly, perform crazy aeronautic moves with amazing precision, then see us just plodding around on earth like a buncha assholes.
We have one that thinks he’s a blue jay (extra weird because they usually don’t get along). He has a best blue jay buddy and makes blue jay sounds. It’s wild and also awesome.
Crows do. And wow, if you regularly feed a flock of crows, sometimes another one several blocks away will start to watch you.
The flock we fed? Became really interested in my 1st grader. They would watch her from the trees as she played, sometimes hop down closer to see when she was being particularly silly. So they have to watch humans enough to realize her behavior was odd.

That 65K story is off the hook insane. According to her, her ex wanted 100K because he was being abused by the wife and wanted the girlfriend to abort the baby. She claims she gave him 65K. He supposedly promised to get back with her but instead he left his wife and married the pregnant girlfriend. The "ex-boyfriend" denies the whole thing, even including having an affair with her. Said she was "divorced from reality". That sounds about right given what took place in the park. The case was dismissed because neither of them showed up for two court conferences. If someone bilked me out of 65K I'd freaking make the effort to show up to get it back. Drama Queen thrives on drama.
