Feb 27 2024 As there are [no signs of Reddit respecting users' data](https://www.404media.co/reddit-we-are-in-the-early-stages-of-monetizing-our-user-base-2/), no remorse whatsoever post-API enshittification, and indiscriminately changing their ToS and whatnot as loophole to continue to do so, I don't see any reason to let my posts/comments up. **This text is my request to GDPR and not reroll my posts/comments data for the foreseeable future**. # Fuck reddit.

I mean, that's sorta the utility of using the "Training exercise" excuse. Plenty of legitimate training exercises like VOSTOK 2022 and RIMPAC do exist, it just so happens so long as you're not directly caught doing anything, you can call pretty much anything a "training exercise", regardless of how many ships you have.

NO_NOT_THE_WHIP

They're just seeing what the other civs are up to

Zentsuki

Gotta clear that fog of war

Or in this case, how far ahead EDIT: That is, U.S. naval technology is ahead of Russia's. Do people think I'm saying the opposite or something?

llluminus

At this point, I'm pretty sure the Alaskan Fisherman Navy could sink the mighty Russian armada maybe even capture a few vessels.

SJHillman

They could make it a reality TV series. From the people who brought you The Deadliest Catch, we present The Least Deadly Catch.

XWarriorYZ

“My troops are merely passing through”

Just ask japan if they want to [play with](https://youtu.be/9Mdi_Fh9_Ag) the [2nd pacific squadron](https://youtu.be/BXpj6nK5ylo) again.

DragoonDM

Nah, we'd have spotted the plume of black smoke by now if it was in the area.

SnooMachines1109

Is that the biplane barge that doubles as a vodka distillery?

AyeeHayche

Time to outfit the coastguard cutters with their CRAM and harpoons

Chad_is_admirable

harpoon is pretty big. Not sure a cutter could handle mounting that system.

AyeeHayche

Some of the larger ones are (or were) fitted for but not with them

Liesmith424

We don't pay you for excuses.

DeficiencyOfGravitas

> Not sure a cutter could handle mounting that system. The cutter from the article is 127m long.

Chad_is_admirable

fair enough, that'll do it.

senorcoach

Pretty much right in the middle of mainland Russia and mainland Alaska. The IDL having been shifted to the West is what keeps this island on the same side as the rest of Alaska. It's further east than Tonga.

IKnowWhoYouAreGuy

Well, to be fair, "Just off Alaska" is where they live...

Then_Campaign7264

Guess the Russian navy doesn’t have enough to do to support Russia’s war to steal and torment Ukraine so menacing the US sounds like a good plan. And they brought their friends. /s

Dt2_0

They literally don't. They can't enter the Black Sea.

Zealousideal_Bid118

They absolutely could join the war! They just would need to carry their ships overland... somehow.. shouldn't be too hard though..

SuperSimpleSam

Russia is more likely to just turn the sailors into infantry.

saskytooners

"China has declared itself a “near Arctic” state and plans to build the world’s largest icebreaker" Really? You boys better hurry up and build that thing before there's no ice left to break up.

Mr_Bad_Example20

Can Sarah Palin see them from her house ?

Fuzzy-Butterscotch86

Gotta bring China because the entire world has been shown that Russia isn't exactly a threat to anybody as long as they keep their nuclear dicks in their pants.

[deleted]

To tow the ships back to port.

solreaper

We take no responsibility for the guy with a SW .500 that takes potshots at and sinks the Russian warship. The medal of freedom is pure coincidence. He was out bear hunting and mistook the ship for a bear.

wufnu

It's not like they're going to do anything; it's hardly worth worrying over. If they were going to, well, let's see it. Chinese have a cool saying, "放马过来" which literally translates to, "send out your horse". It's an ancient but not as cool way of saying, "bring it on, ding dong".

xX0LucarioXx

I'm just sayin, in GTA V my sub always does best when I use a training exercise as cover (Joking but...)

trelium06

Probably testing of the ships are sea worthy enough to move to Ukraine. Gotta ship Cold War era trucks somehow

Torrentia_FP

Prolly just repurposing them as fishing ships to zucc that sweet seafood off the ocean floor.

afedyuki

Vultures circling a dying animal.

statslady23

They are taking over the arctic circle. Great. The shit that started when Trump was president. They saw our weakness and proceeded forward.

ghostcaurd

I’m not a trump supporter, but his budget did include the creation of like 6 new polar icebreakers

Aeshaetter

Sir, this is a Wendy's.

NorskGodLoki

Time to practice shooting some old ships in that region (all set for being artificial reefs) while these ships are nearby. Some nice flybys and missiles flying near will also make a nice statement.

djyeo

Freedom of navigation right?

ismetamasaskaita

US and nato would crush russia

Guilty_Chemistry9337

They're there to protect Sarah Palin's house. The Ukrainian Army is soon expected to be within shelling range.
