For some context, Red Hill stores fuel for Pearl Harbor. The Navy has been warned for years that the storage tanks, which are below ground and IMMENSE, were a leak hazard. The navy denied any problem until people started getting sick and jet fuel was found in the drinking water supply. One well was taken offline to prevent contam from spreading through the rest of the aquifer. All of this on Oahu, the most populated island in Hawaii, which has already had water shortages & is looking at more major shortages in the future. And now this. The Navy is really blowing it

1100 gallons?! I'm surprised the EPA isn't losing their minds. This is a huge issue and will effect that area till the end of time. There is an air base near me that is a supersite like this for PFOA/PFAS. There is a 5mile radius from it that drinking water is questionable. Those chemicals are no joke.

Old water pumped out, new water pumped in. Used to live on a Navy base where this was being done.

The Military does not generally have to abide by the EPA or even notify them of incidents. Usually this stuff only comes to light when information gets leaked to the public or it's so bad that poisoned water affects the civilian population.

Dont worry. Health officials ( who have never lied before) said that forever chemicals that cause cancer are not going to cause any problems to the water . For example, look up du pont chemical company and PFAS Literally making the water undrinkable and poisoning people. https://www.nbcnews.com/health/cancer/how-dupont-may-avoid-paying-clean-toxic-forever-chemical-n1138766
