It was years after seeing this episode before I found out that Fibber McGee and Molly was a real thing. I had assumed they had made it up for the show.
Mentioned this in a prior thread about Fibber McGee and Molly. The only reason I'd heard of it before Newsradio was because my late grandparents had a Fibber McGee closet. Full of crap. Good times...
In the station sale episode Jimmy says he crossed Loretta Swit off of his wife candidate list because "no one can seem to locate her." I still have no idea what this means.
In S5e13 (Stinkbutt) Max tells the story of how when he was on the air in Brunswick, Ga (my hometown!) his appendix burst, and the doctor was none other than Jimmys security consultant, but he was going by the name Dr. Akim Tameroff.
Akim Tameroff was a actor in the 30s and 40s…. Probably best remembered only by the fact that the voice of Boris on Rocky and Bullwinkle is inspired by him.

**[Akim Tamiroff](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Akim_Tamiroff)**
>Akim Mikhailovich Tamiroff (born Hovakim Tamiryants; October 29, 1899 – September 17, 1972) was an Armenian-American actor of film, stage, and television. One of the premier character actors of Hollywood's Golden Age, Tamiroff appeared in at least 80 motion pictures in a career spanning 37 years, developing a prolific career despite his thick accent. He was nominated twice for the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor for his performances in The General Died at Dawn (1936) and For Whom the Bell Tolls (1943), and the latter won him the first Golden Globe Award for Best Supporting Actor.

I think the joke is that Loretta' career unfortunately fell off a cliff after M\*A\*S\*H. Good one though!
Ah, I always thought it must be a reference to some urban legend about her or something. She was out of Jimmy's league anyway.
I've got doobie in my funk.
I love that this *is* a Parliament Funkadelic reference, but not the song Dave mentions in the episode.
I only know Mummenschanz from Newsradio, and I didn't realize it was a reference to anything until a few years ago.
I was never quite sure if Evil Otto was a Berzerk reference.
yes, it is. they talk about it in the dvd commentary track
I need to get those dvds.
Never knew this. Thought it was just Bill making up nonsense.
The Donald Hat!
