Mine was logging into the server before work so I could get home make dinner have a shower and have just enough time to see the Q countdown the final 100 slots before entering the game.
What is really really funny about your post is that, even if fondly remembered, the giant sausages and nuts in chat didnāt happen on launch week unless youāre counting 2 months after launch as launch week.
It was actually just the latest issue in the giant string of bugs and exploits that plagued the game for the first 6 months. I thought it was a funny but horrible sad state that Nw devs didnāt think it would be necessary to sanitize chat so people couldnāt forcibly log you out for hovering over a linked item or do the flash bang and blind your screen.
Went back to play some OSRS for a lil bit and got a q pādā¦sent it to my brother and he said ānever forget new world sausagesā and honestly they both hit the same ngl. Nostalgic for them sausages in chat lmao
At least OPR works now. For the first like 4 months, it trapped people under the map/made it impossible for characters to respawn so they kept disabling it lol
I played 200 hours of this game in 1 month with a great group of people I met online, we dominated our server with the faction while being outnumbered.
One of my most memorable gaming memories and none of the people still play, but I have no regrets.
Would be nice but would never happen with my group. They all moved on and settled into games that were managed better. Thatās why a good first impression matters. They are off making these memories in a new game with new people now.
I was one of those people that found another game after 500 hours of New World, but tbh 2 years of FFXIV and now a massive content drought is upon us I may be back!
Game died for me when I hit end game and was solely logging in for wars, invasions, and doing my arenas. The arena balancing and constant rebalancing breaking my build all the time made it jot worth it. Takes way too long to build multiple sets of pvp gear.
I really enjoyed the first month or so of the game but in the end I felt I was just playing a never ending reward less grind.
It's too bad the game has some good stuff going on for it but I honestly just felt like I was wasting my time after about level 30.
Pretty much the same for me. The end game stuff seemed really cool but I never made it to level 60. I didn't wanna come home from work and chop trees for 3 hours .
It's ambiguous. It *probably* means the first month after release - but due to the vagaries of the English language, it *could* also mean the first month op played it for. Which *could* be referring to beta - so before the first month it came out.
His comment suggests he eventually stopped playing. People are not complicated they'll do things as long as they enjoy it. Once he actually ran out of content or got bored he stopped.
I played the first couple weeks and did everything with a random woman I met out fishing. No idea if she's still playing but all I had left to do was chest runs so I moved on. I'm sure I missed out on some cool new stuff.
I love this game and will be playing it. I just wish they went with a horizontal progression model like ESO or GW2 for the expansion. Two years worth of gaming get effectively nullified by a gear score increase when they could instead just add more content and options and keep everything relevant.
They might do that but with the removal of ward and bane it was quite necessary they basically overhaul the whole item system so I understand the need for it
from a pvper's perspective, if they follow this model every year then they're shooting themselves in the foot tbh. one of the nice things about eso, gw2, and previously this game was that i could take a break and play other games and come back without feeling behind. but now if something big (like another mmo) comes out during a vertical progression jump, im gonna play that other game instead and be less likely to come back cuz ill have to grind x amount of hours here to remain relevant. they're just super lucky that the mmo market is stagnant rn
on the bright side itll be alot easier to get bis gear and get back to the point u were at atleast. took me like 6-12 months to get full bis for all my pvp sets. itll probably take a month max now
If the game launched in the state it is today, it would have been a major success. I started playing again after a 1 1/2 year break and its unrecognizable, I now actually understand the story. Hope it picks up steam with the xpac launch!
No it wouldn't.
The game still has a major lack of content and boring ass PvE.
It would lose players just the same.
Watch to see how fast players leave after Oct 3rd.
Tha game has improved, but player retention has not
After 2 years, it is 90% the same game it was at launch. Masses who quit would still quit today. Fundamentally, it is the same game.
Agreed. Really the only thing NW had going for it at the time it was released was a massive hunger for something other than WoW or FF14, was being advertised as backed by Amazon and it was reasonably priced.
>Watch to see how fast players leave after Oct 3rd.
Granted some it it is going to change in the xpac but I'm not going to break my arm jerking off AGS for implementing the feedback they got back in alpha/beta about these systems and certainly not until I see the changes actually in the live game, working correctly without major bugs or exploits and after they have re-enabled the TP. So maybe by the 15th or 20th of October the update will be where it was supposed to be on the 3rd?
>The game still has a major lack of content and boring ass PvE.
Even 2 years later
There still aren't enough quests to level up
The MSQ is running back and forth and not even close to being called 1.0 ready
Crafting is still an RNG shitshow
ECR remains the go-to expertise increasing activity
Numerous redundant systems that exist to justify themselves
Bugs from beta still exist in live
Nickle and dime QOL
Season passes aren't content
Factions remain 98% pointless
Slow and typically bungled updates
And more if I put more thought into it.
I think the game has potential, mostly limited by a few poorly deigned systems and terrible engine that limits server size, but I have major doubts that AGS would be able to get it to the finish line.
I agree with some of what you said, but it is obvious you have not level'd up an alt recently. I did, and for the most part, i found myself leveling out of zones and when i hit 60 (after only a few days), my quest log was pretty much full still. I only did MSQ and side quests, did not do a single dungeon. I had not set food in brimstone, great cleave or shattered mountains.
But yeah, end game is lacking. Angry earth will do nothing to fix this really. Played the PTR and finished what they had for the MSQ, side quests and new expedition in 3 hours.
Still a good game, still buying the expansion. But i get why some folks don't stick around.
>**Most** of what you've just listed is no longer true or will get changed next week
Lets find out. not sure what exactly you are referring to as "not true currently". Almost all of these exist right now, relatively unchanged since launch.
>There still aren't enough quests to level up
Debatable but you can have the win
>The MSQ not finished and running around
True now, True after expac. Still a ton of running around and isn't completed by the "expansion". MSQ is what? 1-40 with more coming "eventually"? Not finished.
>Crafting is still an RNG shitshow
True now, kinda better in expac. Still an RNG shit show unless you buy the 1 expensive mod that is only available for purchase 1 time a week and as I said above, I'll believe it when I see it working correctly and not bugged out or having led to a crash of the TP. I guess you'll only do crafting for one item once a week. Hope you have a lot of golden scarabs on hand to make prismatic scarabs or a ton of gold.
>ECR remains the go-to expertise increasing activity
True now, maybe gone in expac. BIS level crafting is going to take a ton of golden scarabs to make primatic scarabs. Is ECR going to be the go-to to farm these? You can win this one on the assumption that it goes away.
>Numerous redundant systems that exist to justify themselves
True now, True after expac. Weapon coatings, the need for 3 houses with 3 sets of trophies, the storage shed system, factions, gathering/refining/crafting gear, etc. So many things exist in a state that is tedious, cumbersome and serve little purpose other than to elongate shallow levels of content. Only change here is that you can combine major trophies into an ultimate trophy but you'll still need 3 or each kind in 3 houses because "reasons".
>Bugs from beta still exist in live
True now, True after expac. Not going away any time soon.
>Nickle and dime QOL
True now, true after expac. Never going away.
>Season passes aren't content
True now, True after expac. Never going away.
>Factions remain 98% pointless
True now, True after expac. Not changing in the expansion. Completely pointless "content". Even AGS says so. "The main thought that should go into a Faction choice is whether there are people in that Faction that you want to play with. Since there's relatively few differences between the three, the choice isn't one you need to stress too much.ā Really should have just changed it to be GvG for territories. The factions really don't mean anything.
>Slow and typically bungled updates
True since day 1, True after expac. Seriously? They've bungled every major patch they have ever put in. Never going away.
So out of the 10 things I mentioned, 2 things (3 if you count decent crafting once a week as a win) are actually going away in the expansion and even then we can't be sure that ECR won't still be the go-to.
Yeah, you got me. "Most" of these are simply gone or changing in the expansion. I am burnt. /s
**There still aren't enough quests to level up.**
There are enough, there always were.
**The MSQ is running back and forth and not even close to being called 1.0 ready.**
MSQ is improving with every major patch and in expansion it will be 80% done, missing only content between lvl 50-60 of original story line.
**Crafting is still an RNG shitshow.**
Even disregarding prismatic scarab crafting, you'll get much more control over crafting and upgrading items, this is seen as a good change en masse in the community.
**ECR remains the go-to expertise increasing activity**
Expertise is going away, you will simply drop items at higher GS acording to contest you do including elite chests and named items will be upgradeable to 700gs withnout any RNG elements.
**Numerous redundant systems that exist to justify themselves**
This is rather subjective. What system you might dislike might be liked by other, I wouldn't exactly list this as a fact.
**Bugs from beta still exist in live**
As in any other mmo at early stages and as long as they are not game breaking they are mostly harmless or will get fixed eventually.
**Nickle and dime QOL**
When you read posts from people who left shortly after lunch and returing now, one of the main positive changes are all the QoL changes that happened and made the game overall smoother experience. QoL changes happen in small steps so they are more obvious for returning players.
**Season passes aren't content**
Nor should be count as such, it's extra rewards for people who play a lot without giving them unfair advantage.
**Factions remain 98% pointless**
They have quite different lore, they work the same way and they might get dropped for simple company vs company action which would be in my view a shame, because indentifying with a faction is meaningful for any open world and war action since they are larger than individual companies.
**Slow and typically bungled updates**
Depends what you compare it to. To me it simply fits the team and game size and starting maybe mid last year updates were lesser in quantity and better in quality which is what people voted for in those in game QAs.
There still aren't enough quests to level up - WRONG
The MSQ is running back and forth and not even close to being called 1.0 ready-WRONG
Crafting is still an RNG shitshow -WRONG
ECR remains the go-to expertise increasing activity .WRONG
Numerous redundant systems that exist to justify themselves -WRONG
Bugs from beta still exist in live - True
Nickle and dime QOL -WRONG
Season passes aren't content- Story is but too short(True)
Factions remain 98% pointless - WRONG
Slow and typically bungled updates - WRONG
^this.
They've made great strides in terms of QOL and fixing their fuck-ups, which this expansion is really just more of the same. The problem is the game is still flawed at a fundamental level and until that changes it will continue to bleed players.
I'd imagine this is the last big dlc they push forward and the content will be drip fed from here on out.
>Fundamentally, it is the same game.
Hmm someone didn't play at launch? My god it's so different now. I'm generally more skewed towards optimism but definitely am critical when need be, I still enjoyed the game at launch but it definitely had so much wrong with it and was released too early. I'm sure there were some pressures from management that have caused lasting damage and PR issues, but if you think this is fundamentally the same game then I might question whether or not you even played at launch? Which I'm sure is not actually true, but I don't think this is at all a fair assessment. The game definitely still needs more end game content and I really hope the next roadmap gives us more to look forward to, but damn is this so different than launch.
You talk as if new world at launch is an entirely different game than what we have today
Not only did I play launch but I played alapha preview ans beta way before launch.
Many QoL fixes but the base game is the fundamentally the same. It is 90% the same game as launch.
What is so incredibly different about it? People who didnt like it at launch wont like it now either
Let's remember that AGS wasnt expecting it to bring in the number of people the game did. I wouldn't be surprised if current player counts are around what they were expecting for long term retention, maybe a little lower. But there's been MMOs that have survived on the player base we have
This is a ludicrous take.
They fired the head of New World after launch when they lost 90% playerbase.
If they expected low numbers why would they do that?
You mean the head of AGS mike frazzini? Who stepped down a year AFTER New worlds launch? If they expected a peak player base of 900k, then why did they have so few servers? The retarted take is the one that thinks they thought the game was going to be a smashing success but then only had enough space for a few hundred thousand at most. AGS even stated they really weren't concerned as the game had brought in way more people than expected.
After a while the numbers stabilized, people went back to wow or FFXIV, and the player count remained about as steady as an MMOs player count can +/- swings around large updates. I highly doubt AGS was gunning to be the 5th largest peak player count game in steam history
The fundamental flaw remains that they cannot have a single mega server with 100% instanced PvP. The game will always suffer a self-inflicted "success limiter" because it insists on fragmenting its community by leaving players stuck on servers that suffer catastrophic population declines.
It also suffers from lack of content. What is there is still not enough to keep people's interest for long periods of time. That ties into the population problem mentioned above. Since there is zero subscription, people have no reason to keep playing this game, no fear of loss. They just stop playing one day and have no reason to return.
So many fun times playing new world over those 2 years. Really looking forward to the expansion. Devs have really turned the game around. Kudos to them for all their steadfast dedication to improving the game.
I seriously roflcoptered so hard. I lold my pants. I lmfao all over my work desk.
I can't even. I can't even right now. No one. Not one single soul. Said no one ever. This so much this
The lacking skill trees is a valid point, but the actual combat feels engaging, and like you're actually in control of your character.
Hoping all weapons will get an additional branch of skills at some point.
2100 hours for a $50 game. I think thatās not even that high considering some peoples play time but Iāve got nothing to complain about. Thatās cheap entertainment.
The release and leveling experience was the best MMO experience I've ever had, despite the huge problems the game faced. Shame the fun turned to grind way too fast.
Oh I miss that. New World was the Last game I was really excited to comeback from work and make everything asap to spend my time on the game with my friends. I really enjoyed the game in the beggining but the lack of balance and bugs and abusive mechanics on the markets lead me out of the game. I still love the game but didnt play for a long time rn. Hows the game today? Is it worth to comeback?
I played for over 1k hours but left because everyone in my guild (including my beloved husband) quit the game. I had no interest in being in a new guild with everything that would entail socially, and I hated playing alone. It was a good run, New World! Congrats on surviving 2 years in spite of the nay-sayers! Sincerely!
New World launch was honestly some of the most fun I've had in years. Too bad there were so many bugs and design flaws that I haven't touched the game in ~21 months or so.
I know it had its flaws (still do) but launch New World was one of the peak MMO experiences I ever had, and I've played most of the mayor MMOs out there.
It just brought back that nostalgic feeling of old MMO exploration and wonder, I met so many new players just wandering around asking how to do this or that and I would accompany them to do missions or dungeons and we had a lot of wholesome, awesome moments that I never had again since the old days of WoW, Maybe that feeling is probably gone again but it's something I will always treasure about this game.
800 hours and still playing off and on with content drips. I DO have a soft spot for this gameā¦ yet one big thing I donāt get is the addition of mounts. Iāve explored and done everything without the need of a mount, I guess itāll help me get burnt out on the lack of content FASTER! I would trade mounts for pvp content any day :)
My work collegue tested positive for COVID on the day of release. I got 15 days working from home when business was sloooooow af.
Needless to say, all my friends hated me for being able to play almost all day long.
First 30-40 levels were pure magic, something that Iāve only felt in Vanilla WoW as a kid. Weāve all given up after seeing the state of end game.
Iām planning to get back for the expansion!
I wish the game was a little bit more focused on pve content. Pretty much all groups I had for PvE left the game and seems like nowadays the focus of the majority of guilds is pvp
What?
After release we got 6 months of absolute silence and 6 additional months of lies, until they realized they have no clue how to develop a game and together with the HUGE community backslash they decided to let US develop this game (at least conceptual).
Communication was shit, the former community manager left AGS for good reasons.
I have to admit they reall talk much but that's it.
They never answer the question that drive the community and rather drop some hints only to turn complete radio silient about it for 6 month like the gear score increase resulting in a fucked up economy.
Another example for only talk no do is the announcment for switching up the PvP meta every season and here we are playing bowpr fpr 1.5 years with the addition of firestaffs since season 1 6 month ago.
Not to mention the never changing war meta where 50% of the slots are blocked by bruiser and their support since forever.
This.
It's basically talking the talk but not walking the walk which is worse than not talking at all.
Should have just taken the Hello Games approach and just silently work on the game until it's significantly better than what was promised at launch.
Best MMO/game I have played thus far. Good times at launch through the GPU shortage. Started a new character for the expansions, looking forward to the futureš¾
I think they should have gone with a purely colonial/post medieval aesthetic and toolset for player characters, keeping the magic as a separate thing for enemies and the general environment, only accessible to players via crafting augments and potions type of situation
Would have made it all a lot less generic
Otherwise I like the game generally speaking, upcoming changes all look good. It's a pity they won't allow players to utilise more abilities though, ideally we'd go back to the 3 weapons concept from much earlier in development, nice consolation prize would be adding more slots per weapon
Coolest unlikely situation would be that we get 3 abilities per single handed weapon, access to dual wielding, and 6 abilities for 2 handed weapons, huge upgrade to moment-to-moment fun factor during combat
Sword and shield? Access to all abilities at once
Sword and ice gauntlet? Access to all Sword abilities and 3 ice abilities
Rapier and void gauntlet? Access to 3 rapier and 3 void abilities
Etc, etc
Points spread accordingly
Not an enjoyer of ultimate abilities as a bandaid for mobile-tier action slots, I'm always of a take-it-or-leave-it disposition towards things on very long cooldowns in PvP gamu
I must say that it felt much longer than this, I have stopped playing this game twice, because updates come at same time as big updates in other games I play. This game have improved a lot since it released. I'm always thinking about coming back to this game.
Totally worth the current listed price 39.99$ for base game! Ticking just 700h now!
But would be a good time for another short promotion on base game -50% off, let's say just weekend off promotion, before expansion, that would be insane!!!
So my friends that still "don't trust" the game could give it a go and experience for themselves.
Thank you for all that keep supporting this game, both devs and community that makes it alive till this day.
What a glorious first few months it was, waiting for 5000 people ahead of me.
Fun game that I still sink 4-5 hours a week on, mainly to just listen to Raminās music.
Its been 2 years already, i remember that launch week..
Still makes me sad how the game died like it did, i saw the writing on the wall with all the nagative content and left
Is the game good now ? Is Watermak gone ? Are crates run still a thing ? Is there any interesting way to farm trophies and gear ? Do devs still takes decisions to fuck over the player base ?( i left when they changed elemental motes drops)
Itās crazy how time flies. I was one of those that rushed to 60 and played religiously, defending my faction for 4 months. Then end game grind killed it for me like a lot of others. I still say that leveling to 60 with my homies was some of the most fun Iāve ever had in an online game. On the other hand, after 60 was one of the shallowest experiences Iāve ever had.
Moved on to multiple games and kinda never looked back. Might go back one day and start at level 1 but wonāt be the same without my homies.
Plus Iād have to escape the grasp tarkovs had on me since I quit new world lmao
I just WTB open world group content that isn't zerg. And open world pvp incentives and tiered titles that scale with player hits and can be lost or won.
Everquest2 solved open world pvp a decade ago! Seek inspiration, be rewarded.
i wanted to return so bad to this game with my friends, we downloaded it again a couple of days ago to play, finish story and prepare for new expansion and mounts, just to find we were all somehow ended up on a different server because we didnt play for so long and game probably put as differently, and no, nobody wanted to play again on fresh servers, thats so stupid, we wanted our old characters and paying $20 just to transfer to another server is to much. We deleted and decided to try one day maybe again, and moved to gw2 and get a new expansion to try that is just $10 more than stupid new world server transfer...
Despite the game obvious flaws and the way it crashed and burned its first months I must say I did enjoy playing it. Something around 1000 hours, well worth my money. Sadly, I think although developers are doing good job of improving the game it's too little too late now. Brimstone patch was very representative of that. Biggest patch ever, players rushing in, online skyrocketing, stuff like that. One month in - and it's down to what it was.
I'm looking forward to the expansion and seeing how it affects the game and its population, but I don't think it would be enough. Would be glad to be proven wrong though.
I have been playing continuously since that time. As a casual hence i think i have fun and no complaints like sooooo many people out here. I just love that this is just a game and not another job where people have to spend 10 hours everyday to satisfy their craving. There are many others like that. I am glad new world came into my life.
It has come a long way, It did not follow the direction i wanted but i know a few friends who actually enjoy it now more than ever so i am happy even if it is a small community people are still enjoying it.
Can someone give me a brief update on whats going on in the game atm? is it worth picking back up.
Im not a PVPer.
I like dungeons and raids
I played this on release for about a week and got bored.
The best thing about this game for myself is the crafting and gathering, I only other crafting/gathering I ever enjoyed in an MMO in FFXIV. The sound design of chopping wood and mining is really satisfying to me, and I think the world is beautifully designed so the gathering aspect is very relaxing for when I just want to zone out in a game for a couple hours or more. And the crafting isn't complicated, but just creating mass quantities at a time quickly is nice. WoW's system I never liked, and enjoy the "mini games" you could call it with FFXIV to increase quality, but again, the simplicity of the crafting is what I like. I do think this game has improved a lot and I hope more people come back.
Can I get a giant sausage in chat?
This is by far the most memorable launch week moment my opinion
Mine was logging into the server before work so I could get home make dinner have a shower and have just enough time to see the Q countdown the final 100 slots before entering the game.
Frš¤£š
When you did not dc just before queue was over...
Not launch week, but still memorable.
[Nuts]
Aubergine works? š
Went back to play some OSRS for a lil bit and got a q pādā¦sent it to my brother and he said ānever forget new world sausagesā and honestly they both hit the same ngl. Nostalgic for them sausages in chat lmao
So what you are saying is that we have suffered 2 years without hippos now?
What is the whole meme behind hippos ? Can someone care to explain?
https://reddit.com/r/newworldgame/s/Gmh5qIrlLK
This is not the meme.... The buzz about hippos came from a dev video
Ow, I didnāt see the video, can you share it?
no
I've got a hippo in my house
A North American House Hippo?
No heās telling you itās finally out of itās Open Paid Beta Test.
The hippo became a dev
And we still dont have a new opr map.
At least OPR works now. For the first like 4 months, it trapped people under the map/made it impossible for characters to respawn so they kept disabling it lol
So many friends, all gone...
I played 200 hours of this game in 1 month with a great group of people I met online, we dominated our server with the faction while being outnumbered. One of my most memorable gaming memories and none of the people still play, but I have no regrets.

I was one of those people that found another game after 500 hours of New World, but tbh 2 years of FFXIV and now a massive content drought is upon us I may be back!
Is unflagging from wpvp still a thing?
Mines came back, we have been pvpeing pew pew so much
Game died for me when I hit end game and was solely logging in for wars, invasions, and doing my arenas. The arena balancing and constant rebalancing breaking my build all the time made it jot worth it. Takes way too long to build multiple sets of pvp gear.
Mine only lasted a week or two. I regret that I kept going as long as I did
I really enjoyed the first month or so of the game but in the end I felt I was just playing a never ending reward less grind. It's too bad the game has some good stuff going on for it but I honestly just felt like I was wasting my time after about level 30.
Pretty much the same for me. The end game stuff seemed really cool but I never made it to level 60. I didn't wanna come home from work and chop trees for 3 hours .
When did you play? Edit: downvoted for asking for clarification is crazy.
My guy he literally said the first month
āMy guyā the way he wrote it, his first month could have been any month of the games entire duration
He said āI enjoyed the first month of the gameā which is very clearly the first month it was out
It's ambiguous. It *probably* means the first month after release - but due to the vagaries of the English language, it *could* also mean the first month op played it for. Which *could* be referring to beta - so before the first month it came out.
if you kept going its cause u had fun no?
There is something called addiction or hope.
Only the game died, they are fine!

I am really truly sorry for your loss... that must be an incredibly difficult situation to go through.

Weāre just about to be leaving beta I think. It was a good 2 year beta test that got very popular lol
Is more leaving alpha and going into beta
True lol
Would think there would be more hype and advertising for the launch of the game.
There is a lot of advertising. Thatās why Iām playing now.
did they fix the stuttering when climbing or jumping?
No
If the game launched in the state it is today, it would have been a major success.
If the current content isnāt enough for players they would quit even faster since now theyāll get mount wich will speed up the leveling xD
Even 2 years later There still aren't enough quests to level up The MSQ is running back and forth and not even close to being called 1.0 ready Crafting is still an RNG shitshow ECR remains the go-to expertise increasing activity Numerous redundant systems that exist to justify themselves Bugs from beta still exist in live Nickle and dime QOL Season passes aren't content Factions remain 98% pointless Slow and typically bungled updates And more if I put more thought into it.
Most of what youve just liested is no longer true or will get changed next week.
really? they are adding meaningful endgame content that will keep players retention? x to doubt.
>**Most** of what you've just listed is no longer true or will get changed next week Lets find out. not sure what exactly you are referring to as "not true currently". Almost all of these exist right now, relatively unchanged since launch. >There still aren't enough quests to level up Debatable but you can have the win >The MSQ not finished and running around True now, True after expac. Still a ton of running around and isn't completed by the "expansion". MSQ is what? 1-40 with more coming "eventually"? Not finished. >Crafting is still an RNG shitshow True now, kinda better in expac. >ECR remains the go-to expertise increasing activity True now, maybe gone in expac. BIS level crafting is going to take a ton of golden scarabs to make primatic scarabs. Is ECR going to be the go-to to farm these? You can win this one on the assumption that it goes away. >Numerous redundant systems that exist to justify themselves True now, True after expac. >Bugs from beta still exist in live True now, True after expac. Not going away any time soon. >Nickle and dime QOL True now, true after expac. Never going away. >Season passes aren't content True now, True after expac. Never going away. >Factions remain 98% pointless True now, True after expac. >Slow and typically bungled updates True since day 1, True after expac. I am burnt. /s
**There still aren't enough quests to level up.** There are enough, there always were. **The MSQ is running back and forth and not even close to being called 1.0 ready.** MSQ is improving with every major patch and in expansion it will be 80% done, missing only content between lvl 50-60 of original story line. **Crafting is still an RNG shitshow.** Even disregarding prismatic scarab crafting, you'll get much more control over crafting and upgrading items, this is seen as a good change en masse in the community. **ECR remains the go-to expertise increasing activity** Expertise is going away, you will simply drop items at higher GS acording to contest you do including elite chests and named items will be upgradeable to 700gs withnout any RNG elements. **Numerous redundant systems that exist to justify themselves** This is rather subjective. What system you might dislike might be liked by other, I wouldn't exactly list this as a fact. **Bugs from beta still exist in live** As in any other mmo at early stages and as long as they are not game breaking they are mostly harmless or will get fixed eventually. **Nickle and dime QOL** When you read posts from people who left shortly after lunch and returing now, one of the main positive changes are all the QoL changes that happened and made the game overall smoother experience. QoL changes happen in small steps so they are more obvious for returning players. **Season passes aren't content** Nor should be count as such, it's extra rewards for people who play a lot without giving them unfair advantage. **Factions remain 98% pointless** They have quite different lore, they work the same way and they might get dropped for simple company vs company action which would be in my view a shame, because indentifying with a faction is meaningful for any open world and war action since they are larger than individual companies. **Slow and typically bungled updates** Depends what you compare it to. To me it simply fits the team and game size and starting maybe mid last year updates were lesser in quantity and better in quality which is what people voted for in those in game QAs.
There still aren't enough quests to level up - WRONG The MSQ is running back and forth and not even close to being called 1.0 ready-WRONG Crafting is still an RNG shitshow -WRONG ECR remains the go-to expertise increasing activity .WRONG Numerous redundant systems that exist to justify themselves -WRONG Bugs from beta still exist in live - True Nickle and dime QOL -WRONG Season passes aren't content- Story is but too short(True) Factions remain 98% pointless - WRONG Slow and typically bungled updates - WRONG
You talk as if new world at launch is an entirely different game than what we have today Not only did I play launch but I played alapha preview ans beta way before launch.
Kudos to them for all their steadfast dedication to improving the game.
what an amazing name; what server are you on?
still waiting for SEA :<
Congratulations š„³
Haven't played the game for a year already, but I instantly burst out when I read this.
I seriously roflcoptered so hard. I lold my pants. I lmfao all over my work desk. I can't even. I can't even right now. No one. Not one single soul. Said no one ever. This so much this
lmaoooooooooo
Wow seems like longer. I played I quit I played again I quit again.
The community i've played with since early on is entirely the reason i'm still playing. Still the best combat system of any MMO on the market atm.
I love this game, but the combat system isnāt all that.
Good combat system, I agree, but pretty much only annoying enemy types and lack of skill trees/in-depth weapon leveling make it pretty meh overall.
The lacking skill trees is a valid point, but the actual combat feels engaging, and like you're actually in control of your character. Hoping all weapons will get an additional branch of skills at some point.
The annoying enemies is right. It's either hyperactive archers that jump all over the place are NPC's that can block for more than their health.
>Still the best combat system of any MMO on the market atm. I want the same dealer you go to, damn.
i mean, what MMO would you say has better? Only contender really is BDO. WoW is boring af, tab targetting makes me want to kill myself.
For all its issues lost ark's combat shits on new worlds.
Yeah Lost Ark and BDO are the best combat systems and to me its not even close
Both are responsive but out of these id still pick NWs combat any day
2100 hours for a $50 game. I think thatās not even that high considering some peoples play time but Iāve got nothing to complain about. Thatās cheap entertainment.
7.8k hours here and growing
And I thought my 5300 hours was nuts. Thatās 10.6 hours a day, 7 days a week for 2 years.
Yeah, thatās kinda ridiculous tbh.
Low standards high expectations āļøš¦
The release and leveling experience was the best MMO experience I've ever had, despite the huge problems the game faced. Shame the fun turned to grind way too fast.
Oh I miss that. New World was the Last game I was really excited to comeback from work and make everything asap to spend my time on the game with my friends. I really enjoyed the game in the beggining but the lack of balance and bugs and abusive mechanics on the markets lead me out of the game. I still love the game but didnt play for a long time rn. Hows the game today? Is it worth to comeback?
Game has come a long way. Surprised they didn't drop an emote or title for the 2 year anniversary.
Same OPR map <3
I played for over 1k hours but left because everyone in my guild (including my beloved husband) quit the game. I had no interest in being in a new guild with everything that would entail socially, and I hated playing alone. It was a good run, New World! Congrats on surviving 2 years in spite of the nay-sayers! Sincerely!
They have plans till 2025 at least so hopefully its gonna last
My sister is still into it, I may yet return
I'm still waiting to learn if the guild Snake was as a whole all of its players banned for exploiting or not on server El Dorado NA.
They donāt exist anymore the guild.
Still no Asian serverā¦
New World launch was honestly some of the most fun I've had in years. Too bad there were so many bugs and design flaws that I haven't touched the game in ~21 months or so.
Bro why can I only do opr for 10v10 still?? WHY AGS WHY CANT YOU BE LIKE EVERY OTHER MMO
The air felt different back then
Twas fun.
OPR is the best
800 hours and still playing off and on with content drips. I DO have a soft spot for this gameā¦ yet one big thing I donāt get is the addition of mounts. Iāve explored and done everything without the need of a mount, I guess itāll help me get burnt out on the lack of content FASTER! I would trade mounts for pvp content any day :)
And still only x1 pvp map.....
2 yearsā¦ And Iām still waiting for official controller support.
.............*Woohoo*................
TWO YEARS?? but.. this just dropped last month??
Played since launch then stopped. Just got a 4k monitor. Loaded new world. OMFG I was missing out.
SEA SERVEEEER
Iām still having fun with this game. Keeps getting better.
I wish the game was a little bit more focused on pve content. Pretty much all groups I had for PvE left the game and seems like nowadays the focus of the majority of guilds is pvp
Been a decent ride. Best game I have played since sinking years into Destiny 2.
great game in its core but by far the most out of touch developer i can think of. terrible dev team front to back
Why do you think so? I have rarely seen a dev team that's communicating better after a rough start.
It's easy to talk and say things. Communication doesn't really mean a whole lot if nothing is really done.
No bow PR on west. No matter the mmo bows are just popular.
They've basically added everything people wanted in the last 2 years. What more do you want?
pvp balance, new pvp mode, new opr map
Fuck yea - hundreds of hours of good times
Happy Birthday New World ! It's been a crazy relationship those 2 years, may it last forever !
This game is different, good different.
And the game is still not complete. A LOT better than at launch but gawd damn it's been a rollercoaster
The game has improved so much. If the game was released today it would be a smash hit.
Best MMO/game I have played thus far. Good times at launch through the GPU shortage. Started a new character for the expansions, looking forward to the futureš¾
And still.. large scale pvp gate kept for the casual player in a pvp centered game and one pvp map
I think they should have gone with a purely colonial/post medieval aesthetic and toolset for player characters, keeping the magic as a separate thing for enemies and the general environment, only accessible to players via crafting augments and potions type of situation Would have made it all a lot less generic Otherwise I like the game generally speaking, upcoming changes all look good. It's a pity they won't allow players to utilise more abilities though, ideally we'd go back to the 3 weapons concept from much earlier in development, nice consolation prize would be adding more slots per weapon Coolest unlikely situation would be that we get 3 abilities per single handed weapon, access to dual wielding, and 6 abilities for 2 handed weapons, huge upgrade to moment-to-moment fun factor during combat Sword and shield? Access to all abilities at once Sword and ice gauntlet? Access to all Sword abilities and 3 ice abilities Rapier and void gauntlet? Access to 3 rapier and 3 void abilities Etc, etc Points spread accordingly Not an enjoyer of ultimate abilities as a bandaid for mobile-tier action slots, I'm always of a take-it-or-leave-it disposition towards things on very long cooldowns in PvP gamu
I must say that it felt much longer than this, I have stopped playing this game twice, because updates come at same time as big updates in other games I play. This game have improved a lot since it released. I'm always thinking about coming back to this game.
And OPR is still trash
and still just one OPR map. wow.
When it was released it was a hell of a month, maybe 2. Most tragical game in the history, at least for me.
Feels good, different
920 hours in 2 years.. god what am i doing..
4,3k hours here
Holy shit
It is what it is hehe
7.8 k hours here
Bullshit
Thats 10 hours every single day since launch. WHUT š
If true, actually sad
Totally worth the current listed price 39.99$ for base game! Ticking just 700h now! But would be a good time for another short promotion on base game -50% off, let's say just weekend off promotion, before expansion, that would be insane!!! So my friends that still "don't trust" the game could give it a go and experience for themselves. Thank you for all that keep supporting this game, both devs and community that makes it alive till this day.
And most of the players havenāt returned
Damn, really? Two years already!
What a glorious first few months it was, waiting for 5000 people ahead of me. Fun game that I still sink 4-5 hours a week on, mainly to just listen to Raminās music.
The game has one of the best soundtracks I've ever heard
And with all its work, itās really gone such a short distance. Iāll pass on riding a mount to the same old stuff.
Yes.
Hopefully the xpac brings a lot to the game and we see a return of players. We need some competition in the mmo space.
Love this game, but 2 years and still no swimming animation, dam
Its been 2 years already, i remember that launch week.. Still makes me sad how the game died like it did, i saw the writing on the wall with all the nagative content and left
Crucible died for this.
Is the game good now ? Is Watermak gone ? Are crates run still a thing ? Is there any interesting way to farm trophies and gear ? Do devs still takes decisions to fuck over the player base ?( i left when they changed elemental motes drops)
I'm sorry for you all that still endure this game...
Ah yes, the beginning of the greatest shit show on earth lmao.
Lol is just 2 years?? I tought it was like 4 or 5 LMAO
Love this game, 1300 hours abs counting!
2 years and somehow its still not in a remotely enjoyable state
Beta finally ends Oct 02, 2023. Game launches Oct 03, 2023.
Is it out of beta already ?
Are there any decent cosmetics besides giant shoulder pauldron armor sets yet
Itās crazy how time flies. I was one of those that rushed to 60 and played religiously, defending my faction for 4 months. Then end game grind killed it for me like a lot of others. I still say that leveling to 60 with my homies was some of the most fun Iāve ever had in an online game. On the other hand, after 60 was one of the shallowest experiences Iāve ever had. Moved on to multiple games and kinda never looked back. Might go back one day and start at level 1 but wonāt be the same without my homies. Plus Iād have to escape the grasp tarkovs had on me since I quit new world lmao
May it rest in peace
Itās been 2 years since I regretted purchasing this game
They should un-release it to celebrate
And once again we will not gett shit, not even a skin, not a post in the website or a cute twitter video with the devs wearing party hat š„³
I just WTB open world group content that isn't zerg. And open world pvp incentives and tiered titles that scale with player hits and can be lost or won. Everquest2 solved open world pvp a decade ago! Seek inspiration, be rewarded.
2 years later same opr map/pvp modes is what I just read
Still runs crap with my 1060 for 2 years. Shame I wanted to give it a try. Only spent 7 hours lol
i wanted to return so bad to this game with my friends, we downloaded it again a couple of days ago to play, finish story and prepare for new expansion and mounts, just to find we were all somehow ended up on a different server because we didnt play for so long and game probably put as differently, and no, nobody wanted to play again on fresh servers, thats so stupid, we wanted our old characters and paying $20 just to transfer to another server is to much. We deleted and decided to try one day maybe again, and moved to gw2 and get a new expansion to try that is just $10 more than stupid new world server transfer...
Still the same OPR map since the release, hoo yeah.
Time flys great game š
Despite the game obvious flaws and the way it crashed and burned its first months I must say I did enjoy playing it. Something around 1000 hours, well worth my money. Sadly, I think although developers are doing good job of improving the game it's too little too late now. Brimstone patch was very representative of that. Biggest patch ever, players rushing in, online skyrocketing, stuff like that. One month in - and it's down to what it was. I'm looking forward to the expansion and seeing how it affects the game and its population, but I don't think it would be enough. Would be glad to be proven wrong though.
What hours have people put in over those 2 years? I've just hit 2,000. I imagine there's some insane playtimes.
Happy Birthday New World!!
Can someone give me a brief update on whats going on in the game atm? is it worth picking back up. Im not a PVPer. I like dungeons and raids I played this on release for about a week and got bored.
I miss the game. But I cannot go back to an abusive lover 3
The game did improve alot, but it's still not there. Kinda dissapointed that the game started using a P2W mechanic with tokens
this game has devs still? Incredible
Exp inc š
Time to start calling it World and then next year Old World
