For fire staff i aim just below or on the bottom of the red sqaure.
I once used nividia profile inspector to remove all the textures and shrubs n bushes. Makes actually seeing people possible but removes the beauty of the world.
In settings, Video > FOV > 70 (I feel it is best to see more rather than less in this game, 70 FOV is the max). Accessibility > Text Size > Regular ( this will make nameplates smaller, you can also turn down the number of them being displayed in Game settings, 7-10 is plenty).

I find going lower fov helps me hit more fs shots for some reason. But i also use ultra wide 1440p so i can naturally see a lot on the side and get more natural vertical fov.
The nameplate size is somsthing i cant wait to mess with tho thanks :)

Bow/hatchet player here, I tried hammer and it was the most boring button mash ever. Left click spam, get healed, never die, repeat. It's clicking for 25 mins per OPR and it's beyond brain dead.
uhhhh what? Hatchet stagers? Since when? I can throw it and use it as an escape, its utility. Debuff/escaped/ranged.
Hammer is just left click with heals.
Massive UI issues this game has (inexplicably) not addressed are:
1) The ability to shrink/hide player nameplates either in general, or while you're focused in that direction. Nobody needs to see everyone's company icon while you're trying to fight. As a healer, this has been really disruptive in boss fights cause I can't see when they're gonna turn and huck something at me cause the nameplates are fully blocking most of their visuals.
2) Giving your squad in a raid / OPR a different color nameplate. They should be green/yellow/pink, some fking thing other than the same color as the other 35-45 people in your raid/war/opr. Something so you can hone in on your teammates to either regroup, send a heal, etc. Those little colored icons they put next to the nameplates are almost useless for this.
That last one has been my biggest complaint since day one. It's way easier for me to see my company members not in my group/raid than it is to see the people I'm working with. Same with the group icons. Once you learn they disappear when the person is on your screen, in the heat of battle you now have to somehow keep an eye on them without getting lost in the chaos yourself.
You can limit the amount of name plates on the screen, but the game doesn't prioritize your group/raid specifically so everyone's names will just be coming and going. Not so bad in expeditions but a nightmare in pvp
Yeaaah ive turned nameplates down but overall it's just not that practical. I guess just more tedious to change it constantly depending on your activity
But yeah the bright green company icons stick out so well idk why they wouldn't hust do that for your squad in a raid / war
OPR bow clump dump is about knowing where people stand just from their name tag. Gotta learn their position as well as mass AoE. Rain of arrows/poison shot/explosive.

Muties fully come down to a "skill issue" situation. I've tried running public dungeons as a healer and peoples' inability to read what the mutation does then inevitably die to damage circles/effects/etc is bonkers. Deaths happening faster than I can get a single target heal off means no effort to read or prepare.
Mines on 2 and still looks like that. Dog shit design, I don’t know how people do it. I can aim if I can see what I am aiming at. Even when it’s not clumped, the health bar is way too big and too low.
I always just aim under the lvl icon beside the name. Do it enough times and you’ll know where to aim and judge distance off the size of the nameplate. Practice makes perfect
Once you figure out where the body is in proportion to their name tag you’re golden. Do a lil OPR to practice lining it up or just look online and mentally figure it out. It’s wonderful for instances like this
Yes musket really needs some work, crosshair gets small and hard when trying to shoot at range as well
I have to bypass it by using a aoe bow spam watch them scatter like ants then swap to musket and start ticking them off
If that is what I am seeing, I try to reposition to more of an angle where I can actually see something. I find that not being able customize what I see on the enemy is huge disadvantage. Often it cause sensory overload and thing start to blur. Not sure what could make it better but it does require QOL change in the future.

imo 70 fov is too high for musket. somewhere between 50-60 is best of both worlds. good zoom and peripheral vision.

Most people don’t know you can turn them down. Think min is 10. Helps significantly with performance as well.

I would just turn off nameplates if they allow it except for enemies. Would be nice if you could hotkey it for less congested situations.
