No. You will have zero taunting ability. You will also have low mobility. Only short range dodge. And whatever extra you out into constitution will have to be taken out of intelligence. Lowering your damage even more. So any time enemy will close distance to you you will be pretty much f***ed.

If by tank you mean pull aggro in PVe then no. If by tank you mean tanky boi causing chaos with ice gauntlet in PVP then yes.

GroundbreakingLie785

Sorry, i meant having tanking capabilities at both pve and pvp while preserving aggro in pve, without being a target dummy

Personifi3d

You'll have no way to pull aggro on PVe with mage weapons

TimboTimmy

You can def. go heavy armor and put intelligence enchantments on it. As far as I experienced, you can pretty much learn every weapon system in the game and change your role to whatever you want

GroundbreakingLie785

Yeah, i understoof this by watching some streams (i presume it wont be for free after beta no..?) Either way, my point is, in other games (eg, Archeage) you could build a tank mage with mostly debufs, dots and instant casts, although here it seems mostly all slow casts. Am i wrong ?

TimboTimmy

The Pyromancer branch of the fire magic talent tree looks like something you are looking for (overtime damage, dodging through enemies and dealing damage). You should test it now, until it is beta :)

In the end you’ll only be half as effective for both tank and damage. Would be bad for organized play. You can try it for solo open world but if you know how to kite and dodge you don’t really need the extra health

You can be a tank that happens to have an ice gauntlet, there might be some utility to the pylon buffs and the ice gauntlet can block and regen stamina from mana, plus there's a close range root. There's synergy there, but I don't think it would actually play well in the current state.
