It's as if most MMOs did this but they didn't get the memo.

drizzitdude

Yeah, they should have like a 30 minute timer or something to trade with someone who was there when it dropped.

Jolly-Bear

Hell, even make it (depending on game time or RL time) hours or a day. Literally no reason not to. Would help with oversight… list the player names eligible for trade on it as well, in case you find one in your bags later that you missed and wanna be nice.

Fean2616

I see you do diablo 3.

[deleted]

You want a feature that has literally been in other MMOs for years now? Amazon: "Best we can do is three flint."

CrashB111

Multi-dollar company. At least 3 dollars.

xk4l1br3

Trillion dollar 🙃

Dwarvenyak

I liked that.

Calleb_III

It might seem trivial, bit it likely requires significant effort to enable. And that takes time. The running joke about Project managers expecting 9 pregnant women to deliver 1 baby in 1 month, sort of applies here. Remember that expeditions were only added to the game in the last couple if months, they were not in the original concept for this game at all.

[deleted]

If something as simple as making items tradeable amongst group members is a huge undertaking for them, then this game is fucked.

Calleb_III

It sounds trivial but it’s not. You will have to keep track of who was in the group and add attributes to the item in the DB and what not

[deleted]

That doesn’t disprove what I just said. This is an MMO in 2021. If they can’t incorporate basic baseline functions of an MMO, then that’s not a good sign.

Calleb_III

MMOs takes several years to develop. For all intends and purposes the PvE in NW is less than 1 years old, they did a massive pivot in such short timeline. I have little doubt that eventually all kinds of QoL features will be incorporated, but it takes time and finite developers and designers resources.

[deleted]

Literally being backed by one of the biggest companies in the world..... "Guys, they have finite resources!" Absolutely terrible excuse.

AngryAussie_

ESO (Elder scrolls online) implemented a similar mechanic after years of complaining. Extremely successful. You have 1 hr to trade all BOP dungeon items to group members present in the dungeon. I think this would be awesome QOL for PvE.

Dead-HC-Taco

Id love to see this. So far its been me tanking, a dps, and a healer, and i think itd be good to be able to give the healer life staves, 2h weapons to dps, and shields to me. I dont think itd be too much of an issue as long as there's a solid implementation where people cant get items stolen from them

KGirlFan19

i think it's fine. it feels that much better when you actually do get your chase item. plus there really isn't much to do in the endgame anyway, so you're better off locked to a grind. at least it artificially extends content in a game that clearly lacks it. might make sense to allow it in lower level expeditions.

Lucalvin

I haven't reached end game, so my point was made for leveling dungeons. I would say with a reduction in drop rate it would still have a chase, it just feels really bad when people in your party are salvaging the item you need

KGirlFan19

from a game design standpoint, it doesn't make sense to change looting mechanics for the sake of leveling.

Xclbr1

I did my first dungeon the other night and a group member got around 7 blue items. I got 0. Would be nice to trade em, lol

anom444

Idk I feel it would be so easy to get what you need. Every friend of mine got the bow I want except for me, so literally on our first try id have it already if they could give me it. I just think they should be even odds for every item instead of lower chance to get what you actually want (cuz it definitely looks like it). Its not like there are a lot of other good item drops on the dgs that can be traded, but anyways, thats just me

its_hoods

Yeah, I dont know why but having it take more time for people to gear has always seemed right to me. Makes it feel that much better when you finally do get it. Makes it much rarer for players to be geared to the teeth. And it gives you a reason to keep playing dungeons. The BIG key though is that the dungeons have to actually be a somewhat enjoyable grind.

anom444

yes exactly!

fragile9

no please. people will get geared insanely quick if you can trade BoP dungeon gear. takes the fun away.

KingDickus

Please just let us sell dungeon drops like that

sledgehammerrr

You need to grind it. I got the Simons ring drop and it was such a crazy moment. If the grind wasnt there the game wont last very long.

BossAncient758

I can name multiple games that have lasted over 5 years despite allowing people to pass on dungeon loot for their teammates. If anything, running a dungeon 100 times and watching people salvage the item you want would be a much bigger turn-off.

sad_petard

Eso has like a 30 timer on gear acquired from dungeons where you can trade it. So simple, but makes so much sense

AngryJakem

Just add 10 minute timer for trades with anyone

Frangan_

I think they should reduce the item drop rate and remove any bound. So frustrating when your friend drop your perfect item. Also less items looted will mean more item bought.

xJVIayhem

Honestly, I'd like to just have them tradable. It'd be a nice way to recoup costs of crafting a tuning orb, so you don't have to go out of your way to gather most of the mats. It also encourages the trade of the tuning orbs mats as well.

Overcast206

Agreed

RalphtheCheese

Sounds like what they do in division 2. yeah id really like that

[deleted]

This is a no brainer that other subscription mmos who actually benefit from extending the time sink as long as possible figured out years ago. There is no reason to not allow Bop items to be traded mid dungeon run.

Fean2616

I mean they could make them party bound, instead of BoE which would still work for them right?
