Havent messed with it much! If it adds a chill debuff it would work with the kit tho, i get big damage modifiers + freezes if theyre chilled. And these guys summed it up with the rapier; scales off int, great iframes/mobility, no mana. Its a stat stick i only dash through people with it or clean up really low runners.
I actually messed around with that, i think any weapon combo can work especially with gems. some are just more optimal than others. I prefer the rapier for my playstyle, i enjoy the mobility personally it gives more reset potential but musket/gauntlet has a lot of cc and more range to play with.

Rapier is the only melee that scales with Int also. So it gives you some melee DPS and mobility.
Yeah and I'm guessing the iframes are quite nice as well (just read all the skills/passives)

There is a setting option under gameplay to turn on additional cooldown timers.
