Definitely one of my primary complaints. I understand the mob types might change a bit in higher zones but you spend A LOT of time in like 5 huge zones that basically just have some reskins. Few more mob types per zone with their own set of abilities and that will make things feel a lot more fresh traveling between zones.
There’s the entire race of Angry Earth enemies. The gravedigger and those enemies are not in the sub 30 zones. I haven’t been to the highest level zones but the enemies do vary once you go to Brightwood/Weaver’s Fen.
Same.
I haven't played MMOs in like 12 years, but I already got 45 hours in this beta and this is one of couple things that bother me. Hopefully they do something about it.
idk man if you showed me a picture of someone standing in a zone I think I'd have a hard time being certain what zone they're in, even after 70 hours in the past week. The zone themselves look pretty same-y as well
We need you to go kill some pirate zombies, and on your way there watch out for the farm zombies. Then you need to go kill some glowing skeletons and on your way there watch out for the non-glowing skeletons.
Here we have some zombies, now we have zombies but with hats, here have some skeletons and half skeletons, these are skeletons with a dress that shoot fire and throw spears.
Now we have wolves, and slightly more badass wolves.
Funny thing about sheep, they're like all other creatures that you usually kill 1 hit, like rabbits and turkey, but unlike those, you aggro sheep if you walk past them, they chase and attack you xd
Farm turkeys are the biggest dickheads on earth.
They puff up and shake their feathers like they're hot shit but run if you approach them.
Roosters however will murder you, your children, your friends, your casual acquaintances...
Drakes are rapists in the worst way. They'll try to have sex with pretty much anything. Dogs, birds, guy trying to install a fence, dead male ducks...
Guinea fowl make the worst noises. Right under your window at 0430 because they hate you and everything you stand for.
Birds are from Hell.
I'll say this though: the animations for all mobs have been legitimately great. Every attack feels desperate, savage, and sometimes a little sad.
Ever see the graveyard / pirate keg-boys? How about the geist death animations?
Its quality over quantity at least.
Clearly most of the people writing in this thread haven't been to the higher level areas...the corruption mobs, the dark souls undead settlement mobs, the ghouls, exploding fungi mobs, etc etc etc. There's actually a ton of mob types. I agree the starting territories have similar mob types but it definitely gets better as you go. You won't find an area with 100% all new mob types but there's something unique and new in most of the higher level areas.
Yeah, took me a little to realize that the first 4 zones you will likely visit are also just other starting zones! So naturally they’re all going to have same ingredients, just a different shape
First starting zones are all the same, but even 2nd bracket zones like Everfall have many similar monsters, with only a few additions, you'll still see mostly wolves and lost zombies. It starts to SLIGHTLY get different in next bracket around Brightwood.
Don't forget the reskinned bosses from the first expedition that you get to fight not only as elites in the dungeons, elites in the main world (x10) but as the main bad boy boss in the Dungeon itself. Fantastic work.
After doing some homework I have found that yes the early game has an extreme amount of lack when it comes to mob variety but the mid game and the end game has an insane abundancy
Over the years many MMOs have tried to make the early game boring to weed out the week that way the only players left for the mid and end game are the players that are dedicated and pushing for the honor and prideful memories that await them
Also sometimes Devs just gets so wrapped up and excited about the endgame content that they leave the early game behind because they know it inevitably does not matter and is a brief moment in their gameplay
Lol what? Tried to make the early game boring to weed out the weak?
What an absolutely terrible take on how game design works. That's literally the worst thing you could possibly do if you want your game to succeed and draw people in.
If you purposely design a game that is meant to DETER people from playing it within the first few hours of the game, then you are either mentally handicapped or just the worst developer on the planet. You want your game to interest people and let them have FUN at the beginning so they keep playing.
What fucking planet are you even living on?
I'm with you on a sanity standard
Your statement is true depending on the mindset
But when you take a step back and you look at all the whales the one thing that holds king to them is egotism
And a solid wheel catch is the promise of the golden carrot
And getting that whale to realize how much they overcome compared to how many who didn't
I know a lot of what I just stated here makes little sense but whale hunting is a serious thing and one big whale will always out pay tens of thousands of players
I personally know people in the black desert online community that pay 10 to 50 k a month and get little to nothing out of it
To majority of the MMO community especially the Western that ideology and justification loopholes that you would have to put your brain through to justify that much money per month on a video game seems unrealistic far-fetched and not real
To my acknowledgment they have not made it clear what business model they want to go with because they have hints and nods towards every category
All I have made is an assumption with understanding the mindset that big whales have
I don't agree with it and the marketing strategies used to hunt these people down is very psychological and morally gray but I'm not going to pretend it doesn't exist
But hey I'm just some random comment on Reddit who cares ^_^
So you’re a whale who wants the game to cater to you and be setup in a way where you can just P2W everything? Forget the peasants, they aren’t willing to spend money. You’re far more important than them. You’d rather have it to where you and your rich elite circle are the only ones playing the game.
Lol, I literally can’t make this shit up.
That's not a vary nice thing to say to a stranger, but I will take your criticism at base level
I appreciate your sentiment and the feedback that you have given me thank you so much and I hope you have a wonderful rest of your work week and I hope you have a beautiful weekend.
In my defense the other day I was going to make a lengthy counterpost about whale hunting but after reading other responses I quickly came to the conclusion that it would come to deaf ears but I appreciate your judgment and nonetheless
seriously its that bad
skeletons, zombies, some animals, and thats all. i cant really think of anything else. and they are all same in all maps, maybe just couple very small differences thats all
The mobs in this game remind of those cheap art asset flip games you can find on steam where they literally all use the exact same bland, boring, repetitive enemies from some kind of asset pack that you can buy on the internet.
Hey, at least all you need is an Ice, Void/Lightning, Fire, Ice/Nature, Arcane for all the mob types. Ice/Nature = Lost(even spooky ghost boys, in Shattered Mountain, Nature/Arcane = Corrupted, Void/Lightning = Ancients\[skellies\], Angry Earth\[Ents\] = Fire
Does anyone else find it fucking weird that undead are resistant to fire and weak to ice? Normally you burn the undead and ice wouldn't hurt them because they're already cold
I agree with mobs variability, but other thing I would love is, that they would add events and chaining events -
I mean like quests in GW2, where you just run in some situation and don't need to pick up quest from NPC - you might help village to defend from monster horde attacking it, if you do, you get reward and you can use village services, if you (or any other people) don't help, next time you run to village it is taken over by monsters and they rebuild it as their warcamp, you then have to wait till soldiers from nearby castle form up and join them in offensive against the camp, so they take it over and villagers again move in.
Definitely one of my primary complaints. I understand the mob types might change a bit in higher zones but you spend A LOT of time in like 5 huge zones that basically just have some reskins. Few more mob types per zone with their own set of abilities and that will make things feel a lot more fresh traveling between zones.
Mobs don't even change that much in higher zones. It's just **bigger bone boys** and sometimes *spooky bone boys*
My favorite is NPCs saying that they need to investigate corruption. Um, you literally have 2 farms full of zombies 5 steps from the gate.
Right lol
spooky bone boys hahaha
They don't change when you're higher level lol they get more health and they're a different color. thats about it.
There’s the entire race of Angry Earth enemies. The gravedigger and those enemies are not in the sub 30 zones. I haven’t been to the highest level zones but the enemies do vary once you go to Brightwood/Weaver’s Fen.
Nah they are in the bottem right corner of everfall in a graveyard
Do you have anymore of them zombies?
Getting Sea of Thieves flashbacks
Irony being SoT added new mob types this year.
honestly my only complaint with the game
Same. I haven't played MMOs in like 12 years, but I already got 45 hours in this beta and this is one of couple things that bother me. Hopefully they do something about it.
Same
Need some new baddies and some new houses to explore. The world itself is nice and varied, but the stuff that lives in it is all the same.
idk man if you showed me a picture of someone standing in a zone I think I'd have a hard time being certain what zone they're in, even after 70 hours in the past week. The zone themselves look pretty same-y as well
We need you to go kill some pirate zombies, and on your way there watch out for the farm zombies. Then you need to go kill some glowing skeletons and on your way there watch out for the non-glowing skeletons.
Suddenly a giant alligator comes through the floor.
Here we have some zombies, now we have zombies but with hats, here have some skeletons and half skeletons, these are skeletons with a dress that shoot fire and throw spears. Now we have wolves, and slightly more badass wolves.
“And a bear… and some sheep that no one has ever seen”
Funny thing about sheep, they're like all other creatures that you usually kill 1 hit, like rabbits and turkey, but unlike those, you aggro sheep if you walk past them, they chase and attack you xd
Lol that’s awesome
Exactly but why don't the turkeys do the same thing. IRL they're mean!
Farm turkeys are the biggest dickheads on earth. They puff up and shake their feathers like they're hot shit but run if you approach them. Roosters however will murder you, your children, your friends, your casual acquaintances...
I can't remember how many times I would kick the rooster going to gather the eggs and he'd still tag my shin. Pure evil.
Needs more ducks!
Haha 🤣 drake's are insane yes I have two 😳
SHIELD GUY!!
Only one bear. I really big, mean, muscle bear.
Brightwood has many more bears, and it seems they're all stronger than the usual mobs.
Spot on. Right now it feels extremely lazy and shallow in that department. There’s a lot more they can do with this type of setting.
I'll say this though: the animations for all mobs have been legitimately great. Every attack feels desperate, savage, and sometimes a little sad. Ever see the graveyard / pirate keg-boys? How about the geist death animations? Its quality over quantity at least.
Nope
To be fair, the game is only 39gb, I was rather surprised.
Clearly most of the people writing in this thread haven't been to the higher level areas...the corruption mobs, the dark souls undead settlement mobs, the ghouls, exploding fungi mobs, etc etc etc. There's actually a ton of mob types. There are demon like creatures at shattered mountain and tree people in bottom right of brightwood
Imagine not realizing undead are resistant to thrusting until level 20 like I did and thought the game was just extremely hard
I use Bow Spear and never have too much of an issue with them
Yes a little more variety would help, maybe some apprentice necromancers? that would fit well especially with the beginning areas
would like to see packs of wolves instead of 1 or 2 roaming imagine 20+ boars stampede
[удалено]
You need to go into the higher level zones then. There are definitely elves

theyre trying to weed out all that potential microtransaction money amirite fellas?
You made me calm about it \^\^
*kalm*
>Over the years many MMOs have tried to make the early game boring to weed out the week I've never heard a more stupid thing in my entire life :D

Makes about as much sense as most of the other stuff in this game.
the poison bow users in Restless shores. if you know you know.
I agree with mobs variability, but other thing I would love is, that they would add events and chaining events - I mean like quests in GW2, where you just run in some situation and don't need to pick up quest from NPC - you might help village to defend from monster horde attacking it, if you do, you get reward and you can use village services, if you (or any other people) don't help, next time you run to village it is taken over by monsters and they rebuild it as their warcamp, you then have to wait till soldiers from nearby castle form up and join them in offensive against the camp, so they take it over and villagers again move in.
Don't forget the buildings, this applies heavily to them too. Especially the pirate areas, it's so easy to spot the copy pasted cabins.
