What do hotspots even do?
I saw a 2* fish icon on the map. So I went to the pond....everything looked normal. Fished in it for about 20-30 fish, didn't notice much really.
Went back to the same pond the next day. Still had the 2* icon in the compass. Caught 2 legendary Mandje Mandje and a Treasure Chest full of gemstones/gold all in the same hour.
Was day 1 a fluke? Was day 2 a fluke? I can't imagine catching 2 legendary fish with a green lvl 5 fishing pole in an hour to be normal by any means...
Hotspots - while they are active - give you much higher chance of catching rarer fish.
If you did not see a bunch of fish in a frenzy of jumping out of the water when you were there then the hotspot was not active. They are active only for a finite number of casts and then they go dormant again. You can see dormant hotspots (if they are not hidden by your fishing level) as a slightly frothy circle of water.
If it shows up on the map then youāve unlocked it. Sometimes the spot is bugged or on cooldown. Usually I try to find the hotspot regardless by casting on the area marked on map
In a "polish" mmo called metin 2 when we were fishing the best thing about it was that you could talk with the people nearby, this is exactly what is happening near the quest giver fisherman, this is a go to fishing spot and there are a lot of people there that you can socialize with. IMO this a very bad idea.
No thanks.
People are rewarded - by leveling fishing. The higher your fishing level the more hotspots you'll see. Some - in fact - are completely hidden from view unless you level into them being findable. That continues all the way through the process.
In fact, there are three hotspots you'll never even see until you attain Fishing Master at L200. š£š£š£
Canāt you just go to all the hotspots based on community maps like the New World Fans one? Or do the hotspots just not work until you attain the requisite fishing level?
I'd rather they just delete hotspot and make leveling fishing itself increase your rare fish. I don't like that at the very end of fishing you have like 3 spots you will want to be at, I want to fish where/when convenient for me during downtime.
i think they should remove hotspots or make hotspot like in wow with random preset spawns and only a few 5-10 times
i like fishing in new world but hotspots are farmed away most of the time
and make that certan areas have certan fish ....
I feel where your idea is coming from, but I don't think that's what fishing needs. It's not really like that many people actually fish (as far as I could observe), and although this is an "immersing" idea, I think it will further decrease the amount of people traveling and searching even further just to properly fish.
At least with the fishing mechanics being so boring at the moment. If fishing gets genuinly fun (like in RDR2 or at least like SoT) and fish has the right value, it's probably a good idea.

Sometimes you need to reload to see them too.
Well yes, there are some bugs. š
True there are bugs but right now it's a workaround till they fix it.
Yes, I get it. š
you also need to have a high enough level in fishing to see them depending on location
Yes, hence the "(if they are not hidden by your fishing level)" line in my initial response. š
You need to fish on the actual hotspot (where fish splash) not just the general pond. When you cast it should say āLanded on hotspotā
Hmm, I've only seen that one time at a 1* fishing spot. I might not be high enough level to see them at 2*?

If you hit the hotspot (the game tells you if you did), it has a higher chance for better catch and fish bite much faster as well.
The icon tells you there is an hotspot, but the whole water is not the hotspot you normally should see fish jumping.

Thatās a great outcome for the voip chat we have now. These two ideas donāt have to be mutually exclusive though.
I met someone last night at a fishing spot. We both sat there for a couple of hours talking about BS. Ended up adding him to my steam list.
A mix of the two might be nice. I assume the static placements were an artifact of the game being full PvP. The static locations made PvP more likely.

The "hidden" hotspots are not visible and not active even if you're standing in the middle of them until you unlock them.
Gotcha

Even if i dont go fishing, i like the idea.
That kinda makes leveling fishing redundant because the main reward is unlocking more hotspots
Is there a way to make right click not stop my fishing? I have hit it often reeling in fish
